1 Imhola inofu ija Yesu kilisite, uMwana ghwa Nguluve.
The beginning of the Good News about Jesus Christ.
2 Ndavule lilembilue mukitabu kya m'bili u Isaya, “Lolagha nikunsuung'ha unyamhola ghwango akulongolele, ujuo ghwe ikuling'anisiagha isila.”
It is said in the Prophet Isaiah — ‘Behold! I send my Messenger before thy face; he shall prepare thy way.
3 Ilisio lya muunhu nipilikika kuhuma ku lihaka liiti, munnosekesyaghe u Mutwa u Nguluve isila na kuling'hania muno kya ilila”.
The voice of one crying aloud in the Wilderness: “Make ready the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.”’
4 Pepano u Yohana u mwofughi akatengula ku pilisia ku lihaka, kuuti avaanhu valataghe inyivi save nakuwofughua.
And in fulfilment of this, John the Baptizer appeared in the Wilderness, proclaiming a baptism upon repentance, for the forgiveness of sins.
5 Avaanhu kuhuma mulikaja lya Yerusalemu na mukighavo kyoni ikya Yudea, vakalutagha kwa Yohana, vakalatagha inyivi save.
The whole of Judea, as well as all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, went out to him; and they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 UYohana akafwalagha umwenda ghuno ghutendilie nulwaghe lwa ngamia akipinyagha nulukova munsana, na kulia imhaasi nu vwuki.
John was clad in clothing of camels’ hair, with a belt of leather round his waist, and lived on locusts and wild honey;
7 Akapulisyagha akatisagha, kwale jumo ikwisa mumbele mulyune unya ngufu kukila une, juno naninoghile nambe kuva m'banda ughwa kuhudula utukova twa filatu twake.
and he proclaimed — “There is coming after me one more powerful than I, and I am not fit even to stoop down and unfasten his sandals.
8 Une nikuvofugha na malenga, neke umwene ikuvofughagha nu Mhepo u Mwimike.”
I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
9 Lulya humile mufighono ifio ulwakuuti u Yesu Kilisite alisile kuhuma ku Nazaret ija ku Galilaya, akaluka kwa Yohanani na kukwofugua nu mwene mukikogha ikya Yolidani.
Now about that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10 Ye ofughue unsiki ghughuo akahuma mumalenga, akavona uvulanga vudinduka, na ju Mhepo hwene ng'hunda akiika pa mwene.
And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent apart, and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him,
11 Pe ilisio likahuma kukyanya likati, “Uve veve mwanango mughanike. Nikukelile fijo uve.”
and from the heavens came a voice — “Thou art my Son, the Beloved; in thee I delight.”
12 Kange nakalingi u Mhepo akamulongosia u Yesu kuluta kulihaka.
Immediately afterwards the Spirit drove Jesus out into the Wilderness;
13 Akikalagha ifighono fijigho fine, agheluagha nu setano. Alyale nifikanhu ifnge ifya mulisoli, navanyamhola vakan'tangagha.
and he was there in the Wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts, while the angels ministered to him.
14 pa mbele u Yohani ye akolilue, u Yesu akalika ku galilaya ipulisia imhola inofu ija Nguluve,
After John had been committed to prison, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the Good News of God —
15 akatisagha, “Unsiki ghwa ghufikile, kange uvu twa vwa Nguluve vulipipi. Mulataghe na kukwitika inyivi siinu mu livangili”.
“The time has come, and the Kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the Good News.”
16 Yeakilila mulubale mu lisumba lya Galilaya, akabona u Simoni nu ANdeleeya vitagha inyavu save mulisumba, ulwakuva valyale valovaji.
As Jesus was going along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the Sea, for they were fishermen.
17 U Yesu akavavula, “Mwise, mumbingililaghe, nikuvavika kuva valovi va vaanhu.”
“Come and follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will set you to fish for men.”
18 Unsiki ghughuo vakasileka inyavu save vakam'bingilila.
They left their nets at once, and followed him.
19 Unsiki u Yesu ye aghendile akasiki padabe, akam'bona u Yakobo mwawa ghwa Zebedayo nhu Yohani vanyalukolo vake; valyale mu ngalava vitenda inyavu.
Going on a little further, he saw James, Zebediah’s son, and his brother John, who also were in their boat mending the nets.
20 Voope akavakemela vakamuleka uvise ghwave u Sebedayi mun'akte mu ngalava palikimo navavombi vaake, vakam'bingilila.
Jesus at once called them, and they left their father Zebediah in the boat with the crew, and went after him.
21 Ye vafikile ku Kapelaumu, ikighono kya Sabati, vakingila mu sinagogi na kuvulanisia.
And they walked into Capernaum. On the next Sabbath Jesus went into the Synagogue and began to teach.
22 Vakadegha imbulanisio ja mwene, ulwakuva alyale ivulanisia hwene muunhu nya vutavulilua nakavulanisiagha ndavule avalembi.
The people were amazed at his teaching, for he taught them like one who had authority, and not like the Teachers of the Law.
23 Unsinki ghughuo umuunhu alyale mu sinagogi jivanave alyale nilipepo ililamafu, akakoola,
Now there was in their Synagogue at the time a man under the power of a foul spirit, who called out:
24 akati, “Tulini kikibikya kuvomba nuve, Yesu ghwa Nasaleti? Ghwisile kukututipula? Tukagule uliveni? Uve ulimwimike ghwemwene ghwa Nguluve!”
“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!”
25 U Yesu akalihwetukila ili pepo ililamafu akati, “kimihe huma mun'kate mwamuunhu uju!”
But Jesus rebuked the spirit: “Be silent! Come out from him.”
26 Nili pepo ililamafu likamughwisia pasi na kuhuma mun'kate mwamwene unsiki ghuno akakolala kulisio ilivaha.
The foul spirit threw the man into a fit, and with a loud cry came out from him.
27 Avaanhu vooni vakadegha, kange vakaposesania vene, “Senyiki isi? Isi se mbulanisio imia inyavutavulilua? Idagha amapepo ghope ghikunda!”
And they were all so amazed that they kept asking: “What is this? Strange teaching indeed! He gives his commands with authority even to the foul spirits, and they obey him!”
28 Imhola sa Yesu sikakwila ng'hani ng'hani mukighavo kyoni ikya Galilaya.
And the fame of Jesus spread at once in all directions, through the whole neighbourhood of Galilee.
29 Ng'haning'hani ye vahumile kunji mu sinagogi, vakingile mu nyumba ija Simoni nu ndeleeya Vyalyale u Yakobo nu Yohani.
As soon as they had come out from the Synagogue, they went, with James and John, into the house of Simon and Andrew.
30 Lino un'kwive ghwa Simoni alyaghonelile alyale n'tamu ghwa homa, ng'haning'ani vakam'bula u Yesu imhola sa mwene.
Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying ill with fever, and they at once told Jesus about her.
31 Ye afikile, akan'kolo nuluvoko, akamwinula, ihoma jikabuka kwa mwene, akategula kukuvatengelela.
Jesus went up to her and, grasping her hand, raised her up; the fever left her, and she began to wait upon them.
32 vwilile unsiki ilijuva ye lisemile, vakamuletela avatamu vooni vano valyale vivavua, na vanya mapepo.
In the evening, after sunset, the people brought to Jesus all who were ill or possessed by demons;
33 Ilikaja lyoni valyakong'anile palikimo pa mulyango.
and the whole city was gathered round the door.
34 Alya vasosisie vinga vano valyale ninamu avanyanamu sino sili papinga na pidagha amapepo minga, looli nakaghalekelagha amapepo ghajove ulwakuva ghalya manyile.
Jesus cured many who were ill with various diseases, and drove out many demons, and would not permit them to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
35 Alyasimuike kujighe kuhenga, unsiki ghuno ghukakyale kuhenga; akaluta pamonga pasyefu pe akifunya kukuo.
In the morning, long before daylight, Jesus rose and went out, and, going to a lonely spot, there began to pray.
36 U Simoni navanine vakatengula kuku mulonda.
But Simon and his companions hastened after him;
37 Ye vamwaghile vakam'bula vakati, “Avaanhu vooni vikukulonda”
and, when they found him, they exclaimed: “Every one is looking for you!”
38 Akavamula akati, “Tuvuke kufisina ifinge, mu fikaja fino fisyunguta, kwope nipilisie kange. Ulwakuva lwelino nisile apa.”
But Jesus said to them: “Let us go somewhere else, into the country towns near, that I may make my proclamation in them also; for that was why I came.”
39 Akaluta imbale sooni isa mukighavo ikya Galilaya, ipilisia mu masinagogi na kudaga amapepo.
And he went about making his proclamation in their Synagogues all through Galilee, and driving out the demons.
40 Unyabuba jumonga akisa kwa mwene. Akampelepesia; akafughama akati, “Nave ukelile kukumbalasia, nisuma umbalasie.
One day a leper came to Jesus and, falling on his knees, begged him for help. “If only you are willing,” he said, “you are able to make me clean.”
41 Vwimila vwa lusungu, u Yesu akagholosia uluvoko lwamwene aka mwabasia, akati, “Nikeela, Uvalale.”
Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying as he did so: “I am willing; become clean.”
42 Unsiki ghughuo ibuba jikabuka mu m'bili ghwake, pe akavalasivua.
Instantly the leprosy left the man, and he became clean;
43 U Yesu akan'kaana akaati lutagha ng'hani ng'hani,
and then Jesus, after sternly warning him, immediately sent him away, and said to him:
44 Akam'bula akaati, “Nungam'bulaghe nambe muunhu imola isi, ulwene ulute ghuhufie kwa n'tekesi, uhumie ilitekelo ndavule alyalaghile u Moose, vuve vwolesi kuvanave.”
“Be careful not to say anything to any one; but go and show yourself to the Priest, and make the offerings for your cleansing directed by Moses, as evidence of your cure.”
45 Looli akaluta na pikum'bula kila muunhu na pipulisia ilisio kukila u Yesu lukampela u Yesu kukunua kukwingila mu makaja pa vuvalafu. Akavisagha kunji ku makaja kuvusyefu kuvusila vaanhu kwope ukuo avaanhu ifipugha fyooni kuhuma imbale soni vakalutagha kwa mwene.
The man, however, went away, and began to speak about it publicly, and to spread the story so widely, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town, but stayed outside in lonely places; and people came to him from every direction.
