< 1 Wakoritho 13 >
1 Tujovaghe kuuti ku njovele isa vaanhu kange njovele isa vanyamola. Looli nambe nilinsila lughano, nilishaba jino jikuta nambe iking'ola kino kikujila.
Though I speak in the ‘tongues’ of men, or even of angels, yet have not Love, I have become mere echoing brass, or a clanging cymbal!
2 Nakuuti nilinikipelua ikya vuviili nhuvukagusi vwa kyang'haani vuno vufisime nuvukagusi, nakuuti nilinilwitiko ulwakuhamia ifidunda. Looli nave nilinsila ulughano, une na kyekiinu.
Even though I have the gift of preaching, and fathom all hidden truths and all the depths of knowledge; even though I have such faith as might move mountains, yet have not Love, I am nothing!
3 Pe tujove kuuti nihumia kutema kulyumue na kukuvalasia avakotofu, na kuuti nihumia um'bili ghwango ninyanyue nu mwooto. Looli nave nilinsila lughano, nanikwambula kimonga.
Even though I dole my substance to the poor, even though I sacrifice my body, that I may boast, yet have not Love, it avails me nothing!
4 Ulughano lukuguda kange lulinulutango. Ulughano nalukughinia kange nalukupula. Ghulinsila matingo
Love is long-suffering, and kind; Love is never envious, never boastful, never conceited, never behaves unbecomingly;
5 nambe umovesi. naghulonda amasio ghaghene, nalukujagha uvuvafi vwa ng'aning'ani, nambe naluvalila amavivi.
love is never self-seeking, never provoked, never reckons up her wrongs;
6 Naluhovoka uvuvotevote. Apene looli luhovoka nuvwa kyang'haani.
love never rejoices at evil, but rejoices in the triumph of Truth;
7 Ulughano lukughana amasio ghoni; lukwitika amasio ghoni, lulinulukangasio mumasio ghooni, kange lunoghile amasio ghoni.
love bears with all things, every trustful, ever hopeful, ever patient.
8 Ulughano naludugha. Nave kwevule uvu viili, lwoni lukiling'ania. Nave kwejile injovele, sidughaghe. Nave kwevule uvu mang'anyi vukiling'ania.
Love never fails. But, whether it be the gift of preaching, it will be done with; whether it be the gift of ‘tongues,’ it will cease; whether it be knowledge, it, too, will be done with.
9 Ulwakuva tukagule lubale kange tuvomba uvuviili lubale.
For our knowledge is incomplete, and our preaching is incomplete,
10 Looli luliva lukwisa luno lukiline, lula luno nalukwiline lukiling'ania.
but, when the Perfect has come, that which is incomplete will be done with.
11 Pano nilyale mwana, nikajovagha ndavule umwana, nikasaghile ndavule umwana, nikalamulagha ndavule umwana. pano nilyale muunhu n'goyo, nilyaghavikile kutaali nune ghoni ghaala agha kijana.
When I was a child, I talked as a child, I felt as a child, I reasoned as a child; now that I am a man, I have done with childish ways.
12 Ulwakuva lino tulola heene ni kilolelo, heene sura ku ng'isi, looli unsiki ghula tulolagha maso kwa maso. Lino nikagwile lubale, looli unsiki ghula nilakagula kyongo ndavule najune nikagulike kyongo.
As yet we see, in a mirror, dimly, but then — face to face! As yet my knowledge is incomplete, but then I shall know in full, as I have been fully known.
13 Looli lino agha gha tatu ghali nhi danda: lwitiko, uluhumilo luno lukwisa, nulughano. Loolibilivaha kyongo kukila iisi lwe lughano.
Meanwhile Faith, Hope, and Love endure — these three, but the greatest of these is Love.
