Châm Ngôn 8
1 Sự khôn ngoan há chẳng kêu lên sao? Sự thông sáng há không vang tiếng mình ra ư?
Doth not wisedome crie? and vnderstanding vtter her voyce?
2 Sự khôn ngoan đứng trên chót các nơi cao, Ngoài đường, tại các ngã tư.
She standeth in the top of the high places by the way in the place of the paths.
3 Gần bên cửa thành, tại nơi vào thành, ỳ chỗ đông trong cửa thành, sự khôn ngoan la lên rằng:
She cryeth besides the gates before the citie at the entrie of the doores,
4 Hỡi loài người, ta kêu gọi các ngươi, Và tiếng ta hướng về con cái loài người!
O men, I call vnto you, and vtter my voyce to the children of men.
5 Hỡi kẻ ngu muội, hãy hiểu sự khôn khéo; Hỡi kẻ dại dột, lòng ngươi khá nên thông sáng.
O ye foolish men, vnderstand wisedome, and ye, O fooles, be wise in heart.
6 Hãy nghe, vì ta sẽ nói điều tốt lành, Ta hở môi ra mà dạy điều ngay thẳng.
Giue eare, for I will speake of excellent things, and the opening of my lippes, shall teache things that be right.
7 Vì miệng ta sẽ nói chân thật; Còn môi ta ghét sự gian ác.
For my mouth shall speake the trueth, and my lippes abhorre wickednesse.
8 Các lời miệng ta điều xưng hiệp sự công bình. Trong nó chẳng có điều chi cong vạy hoặc gian tà.
All the wordes of my mouth are righteous: there is no lewdenes, nor frowardnesse in them.
9 Thảy đều rõ ràng cho người nào hiểu biết, Và ngay thẳng cho người nào tìm được sự tri thức.
They are all plaine to him that will vnderstande, and streight to them that woulde finde knowledge.
10 Khá nhận sự khuyên dạy ta, chớ lãnh tiền bạc, Thà lãnh sự tri thức hơn là vàng chọn lựa;
Receiue mine instruction, and not siluer, and knowledge rather then fine golde.
11 Vì sự khôn ngoan có giá hơn châu ngọc, Và các vật mình ưa thích hơn hết chẳng sánh bằng nó đặng.
For wisdome is better then precious stones: and all pleasures are not to be compared vnto her.
12 Ta, là sự khôn ngoan, đồng ở với sự thông minh, Và tìm được sự hiểu biết, và sự dẽ dặt.
I wisdome dwell with prudence, and I find foorth knowledge and counsels.
13 Sự kính sợ Đức Giê-hô-va, ấy là ghét điều ác; Ta ghét sự kiêu ngạo, xấc xược, con đường ác, và miệng gian tà.
The feare of the Lord is to hate euill as pride, and arrogancie, and the euill way: and a mouth that speaketh lewde things, I doe hate.
14 Mưu luận và sự thông thạo đều thuộc về ta; Ta là sự thông sáng; năng lực vốn thuộc về ta.
I haue counsell and wisedome: I am vnderstanding, and I haue strength.
15 Nhờ ta, các vua cai trị, Và những quan trưởng định sự công bình.
By me, Kings reigne, and princes decree iustice.
16 Nhờ ta, các quan trưởng, người tước vị, Và các quan xét thế gian đều quản hạt.
By me princes rule and the nobles, and all the iudges of the earth.
17 Ta yêu mến những người yêu mến ta, Phàm ai tìm kiếm ta sẽ gặp ta.
I loue them that loue me: and they that seeke me earely, shall finde me.
18 Sự giàu có, sự tôn trọng, Của cải bền lâu, và sự công bình, đều ở nơi ta.
Riches and honour are with me: euen durable riches and righteousnesse.
19 Bông trái ta tốt hơn vàng, đến đỗi hơn vàng ròng; Hoa lợi của ta quí hơn bạc cao.
My fruite is better then golde, euen then fine golde, and my reuenues better then fine siluer.
20 Ta đi trong con đường công bình, Giữa các lối ngay thẳng,
I cause to walke in the way of righteousnes, and in the middes of the paths of iudgement,
21 Đặng làm cho kẻ yêu mến ta hưởng được của cải thật, Và làm cho đầy dẫy các kho tàng của họ.
That I may cause them that loue me, to inherite substance, and I will fill their treasures.
22 Trong buổi Đức Giê-hô-va khởi cuộc tạo hóa, Và thời thái cổ, trước khi chưa dựng nên muôn vật thì Ngài đã có ta.
The Lord hath possessed me in the beginning of his way: I was before his workes of olde.
23 Ta đã được lập từ trước vô cùng Từ khi nguyên thỉ, trước khi dựng nên trái đất.
I was set vp from euerlasting, from the beginning and before the earth.
24 Lúc chưa có vực sâu, chưa có nguồn chảy nước nhiều, Thì ta đã s sh ra rồi.
When there were no depths, was I begotten, when there were no fountaines abounding with water.
25 Trước khi núi non chưa lập nên, Và các gò nổng chưa có;
Before the mountaines were setled: and before the hilles, was I begotten.
26 Trước khi Đức Giê-hô-va chưa có dựng nên đất, đồng ruộng, Và tro bụi đầu tiên của thế gian, thì ta đã sanh ra rồi.
He had not yet made the earth, nor the open places, nor the height of the dust in the worlde.
27 Khi Đức Chúa Trời lập các từng trời, Và đặt cái vòng trên mặt vực sâu, thì có ta ở đó.
When hee prepared the heauens, I was there, when he set the compasse vpon the deepe.
28 Khi Ngài làm cho kiên cố các từng mây trên cao, Khiến các nguồn vực sâu vững chắc,
When he established the cloudes aboue, when he confirmed the fountaines of the deepe,
29 Định bờ cõi cho biển, Để nước không tràn phạm điều răn của Ngài, Và khi Ngài lập nên trái đất,
When he gaue his decree to the Sea, that the waters shoulde not passe his commandement: when he appointed the foundations of the earth,
30 Thì ta ở bên Ngài làm thợ cái, Hằng ngày ta là sự khoái lạc Ngài, Và thường thường vui vẻ trước mặt Ngài.
Then was I with him as a nourisher, and I was dayly his delight reioycing alway before him,
31 Ta lấy làm vui vẻ về chỗ có người ở trên trái đất của Ngài, Và sự vui thích ta ở nơi con cái loài người.
And tooke my solace in the compasse of his earth: and my delite is with the children of men.
32 Vậy, bây giờ, các con ơi! hãy nghe ta; Ai giữ đạo ta lấy làm có phước thay.
Therefore nowe hearken, O children, vnto me: for blessed are they that keepe my wayes.
33 Khá nghe lời khuyên dạy, và ở khôn ngoan, Chớ nên từ chối nó.
Heare instruction, and be ye wise, and refuse it not:
34 Người nào nghe lời ta, Hằng ngày tỉnh thức tại nơi cửa ta, Và chờ đợi ở bên các trụ cửa ta, lấy làm có phước thay.
blessed is the man that heareth mee, watching dayly at my gates, and giuing attendance at the postes of my doores.
35 Vì hễ ai tìm được ta, thì gặp sự sống, Và sẽ được ơn của Đức Giê-hô-va;
For he that findeth me, findeth life, and shall obteine fauour of the Lord.
36 Nhưng ai phạm đến ta, làm hại cho linh hồn mình; Còn kẻ nào ghét ta, ắt ưa thích sự chết.
But he that sinneth against me, hurteth his owne soule: and all that hate me, loue death.
