Châm Ngôn 11
1 Cây cân giả lấy làm gớm ghiếc cho Đức Giê-hô-va; Nhưng trái cân đúng được đẹp lòng Ngài.
Yahweh detests [people who use] scales that do not weigh correctly; he is delighted with [those who use] correct weights on the scales.
2 Khi kiêu ngạo đến, sỉ nhục cũng đến nữa; Nhưng sự khôn ngoan vẫn ở với người khiêm nhượng.
[People who are] proud will [eventually] be disgraced; it is wise to be humble.
3 Sự thanh liêm của người ngay thẳng dẫn dắt họ; Còn sự gian tà của kẻ bất trung sẽ hủy diệt chúng nó.
[People who are] good are guided by [doing what is] honest; those who are not honest will be ruined because of the wrong things that they do.
4 Trong ngày thạnh nộ, tài sản chẳng ích chi cả; Duy công bình giải cứu khỏi sự chết.
[Your] money will not help [you] on the day that [God] judges [and punishes people]; but if you live righteously, you will live a long time.
5 Sự công bình của người trọn vẹn ban bằng đường lối người; Nhưng kẻ hung ác vì gian ác mình mà sa ngã.
When people are honest and good, that will (direct their paths/show them what is right for them to do); but wicked [people will] experience disasters because of the evil things that they do.
6 Sự công bình của người ngay thẳng sẽ giải cứu họ; Song kẻ bất trung bị mắc trong sự gian ác của mình.
[God] rescues/protects righteous [people] because they (are honest/do what is right), but those who (are treacherous/cannot be trusted) will be trapped because of their being greedy.
7 Khi kẻ ác chết, sự trông mong nó mất; Và sự trông đợi của kẻ cường bạo bị diệt.
When wicked [people] die, they cannot confidently expect to receive anything [that is good]; they expect that [their money] will help/save them, but it will not.
8 Người công bình được cứu khỏi hoạn nạn; Rồi kẻ hung ác sa vào đó thế cho người.
[Yahweh] rescues righteous [people] from their troubles/difficulties; instead, it is the wicked who will have troubles.
9 Kẻ ác lấy lời nói mà làm tàn hại người lân cận mình; Còn các người công bình nhờ tri thức mà được cứu khỏi.
Godless people can ruin others by what they say [MTY], but righteous [people will] be saved by [their (own] good sense/being wise).
10 Cả thành đều vui vẻ về sự may mắn của người công bình; Nhưng khi kẻ ác bị hư mất, bèn có tiếng reo mừng.
When things go well for righteous [people], [the people in] [MTY] their city are happy, and they shout joyfully when wicked [people] die.
11 Nhờ người ngay thẳng chúc phước cho, thành được cao trọng; Song tại miệng kẻ tà ác, nó bị đánh đổ.
When righteous [people request God to] bless a city, that city will become great, but cities are ruined by what wicked [people] say [MTY].
12 Kẻ nào khinh dể người lân cận mình thiếu trí hiểu; Nhưng người khôn sáng làm thinh.
It is foolish to despise others; those who (have good sense/are wise) do not say anything [to criticize others].
13 Kẻ đi thèo lẻo tỏ ra điều kín đáo; Còn ai có lòng trung tín giữ kín công việc.
Those who (spread gossip/tell bad things about others) will tell your secrets [to others], but if there is someone whom you can trust, you can trust him to not tell your secrets [to others].
14 Dân sự sa ngã tại không chánh trị; Song nếu có nhiều mưu sĩ, bèn được yên ổn.
A nation will be destroyed/ruined if it does not have [leaders] who guide it [wisely]; but if there are many [good] advisors, the nation remains secure.
15 Người nào bảo lãnh cho người ngoại, ắt bị hại; Nhưng ai ghét cuộc bảo lãnh, bèn được bình an vô sự.
If you promise a stranger that you will pay his debt [if he cannot pay it himself], you will regret it. You will be safe if you refuse to guarantee that you will pay someone else’s debts.
16 Người đàn bà có duyên được sự tôn trọng; Còn người đàn ông hung bạo được tài sản.
[People] honor/respect women who are kind/gracious; ruthless/violent people may get a lot of money, [but that is all that they will get].
17 Người nhân từ làm lành cho linh hồn mình; Còn kẻ hung bạo xui khổ cực cho thịt mình.
Those who are kind benefit themselves [because others will be kind to them], but those who are cruel will hurt themselves [because others will be cruel to them].
18 Kẻ dữ ăn được công giá hư giả; Song ai gieo điều công bình hưởng phần thưởng chắc chắn.
If wicked people earn a lot of money, that will deceive them [because they will not keep it for very long], but those who do what is right will surely be rewarded [by God forever].
19 Người nào vững lòng ở công bình được đến sự sống; Còn kẻ săn theo ác gây sự chết cho mình.
Those who always do what is right will live [a long/happy life], but those who insist on doing what is wrong will not live [very long].
20 Kẻ có lòng gian tà lấy làm gớm ghiếc cho Đức Giê-hô-va; Nhưng ai có tánh hạnh trọn vẹn được đẹp lòng Ngài.
Yahweh hates those who are always thinking about doing evil things, but he is delighted with those who always do what is right.
21 Quả thật kẻ gian ác chẳng hề khỏi bị hình phạt; Song dòng dõi người công bình sẽ được cứu khỏi.
It is certain that [Yahweh] will punish evil people and that righteous people will escape [from being punished].
22 Một người đàn bà đẹp đẽ mà thiếu dè dặt, Khác nào một vòng vàng đeo nơi mũi heo.
[It is] ([unsuitable/not proper/disgusting]) for a beautiful woman not to know what is right to do, like [SIM] [it is unsuitable/disgusting] for a pig to have a gold ring in its snout/nose.
23 Sự ao ước của người công bình chỉ là điều thiện; Còn điều kẻ ác trông đợi, ấy là cơn thạnh nộ.
When the things that righteous people want happen, it brings good [to them and to others], but when the wicked get what they want, it causes everyone else to become angry.
24 Có người rải của mình ra, lại càng thêm nhiều lên; Cũng có người chắt lót quá bực, nhưng chỉ được sự thiếu thốn.
Some people give [their money] generously [to poor people], but they become richer [in spite of that], and some people hold tightly to their money, but they still become poor [in spite of that].
25 Lòng rộng rãi sẽ được no nê; Còn ai nhuần gội, chính người sẽ được nhuần gội.
Those who give generously [to others] will prosper; if you help others, [they/someone] will help you, too.
26 Kẻ nào cầm giữ lúa thóc, bị dân sự rủa sả; Song sự chúc phước sẽ giáng trên đầu người bán nó ra.
People curse/despise someone who hoards his grain [and does not sell it], waiting to get a higher/bigger price for it, but they praise someone who sells it [when people need it, even when the price is not high].
27 Ai tìm cầu sự thiện, tìm kiếm ân điển; Nhưng ai tìm cầu điều ác, tất ác sẽ xảy đến cho nó.
If you sincerely want to [do what is] right, [people] will respect you, but if you are wanting to cause trouble, trouble is what you will get.
28 Kẻ nào tin cậy nơi của cải mình sẽ bị xiêu ngã; Còn người công bình được xanh tươi như lá cây.
Those who trust in their money will [disappear like the] withered [leaves that fall from the trees], but righteous [people] will keep going strong, like green leaves [in the summer].
29 Ai khuấy rối nhà mình sẽ được gió làm cơ nghiệp; Còn kẻ điên cuồng trở nên tôi tớ cho người có lòng khôn ngoan.
Those who bring troubles to their families will inherit nothing [MET] [from them], and those who do foolish things [like that] will [some day] become the servants of wise [people].
30 Kết quả của người công bình giống như cây sự sống; Người khôn ngoan có tài được linh hồn người ta.
Those who live righteously will live [for a long time], but [those who act] violently will destroy [their own] lives (OR, those who are wise will have many people come and live with them).
31 Kìa, người công bình được báo đáp nơi thế thượng; Phương chi kẻ hung ác và kẻ có tội!
[Sometimes] righteous [people] are rewarded [here] on the earth, but it is much more certain that very wicked people [DOU] [will be rewarded by being punished].
