Ma-thi-ơ 12
1 Lúc đó, nhằm ngày Sa-bát, Đức Chúa Jêsus đi qua giữa đồng lúa mì; các môn đồ đói, bứt bông lúa mà ăn.
About that time Jesus passed on the Sabbath through the wheatfields; and His disciples became hungry, and began to gather ears of wheat and eat them.
2 Người Pha-ri-si thấy vậy, bèn nói cùng Ngài rằng: Kìa môn đồ thầy làm điều không nên làm trong ngày Sa-bát.
But the Pharisees saw it and said to Him, "Look! your disciples are doing what the Law forbids them to do on the Sabbath."
3 Song Ngài đáp rằng: Chuyện vua Đa-vít đã làm trong khi vua với kẻ đi theo bị đói, các ngươi há chưa đọc đến sao?
"Have you never read," He replied, "what David did when he and his men were hungry?
4 tức là vua vào đền Đức Chúa Trời, ăn bánh bày ra, là bánh mà vua và kẻ đi theo không có phép ăn, chỉ để riêng cho các thầy tế lễ.
how he entered the House of God and ate the Presented Loaves, which it was not lawful for him or his men to eat, nor for any except the priests?
5 Hay là các ngươi không đọc trong sách luật, đến ngày Sa-bát, các thầy tế lễ trong đền thờ phạm luật ngày đó, mà không phải tội sao?
And have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the Temple break the Sabbath without incurring guilt?
6 Vả lại, ta phán cùng các ngươi, tại chỗ nầy có một đấng tôn trọng hơn đền thờ.
But I tell you that there is here that which is greater than the Temple.
7 Phải chi các ngươi hiểu nghĩa câu nầy: Ta muốn lòng nhân từ, không muốn của tế lễ, thì các ngươi không trách những người vô tội;
And if you knew what this means, 'It is mercy I desire, not sacrifice', you would not have condemned those who are without guilt.
8 vì Con người là Chúa ngày Sa-bát.
For the Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath."
9 Đức Chúa Jêsus đi khỏi nơi đó, bèn vào nhà hội.
Departing thence He went to their synagogue,
10 ỳ đó, có một người teo một bàn tay. Có kẻ hỏi Ngài rằng: Trong ngày Sa-bát, có phép chữa kẻ bịnh hay không? Aáy là họ có ý kiếm dịp kiện Ngài.
where there was a man with a shrivelled arm. And they questioned Him, "Is it right to cure people on the Sabbath?" Their intention was to bring a charge against Him.
11 Ngài bèn phán cùng họ rằng: Ai trong vòng các ngươi có một con chiên, nếu đang ngày Sa-bát, bị té xuống hầm, thì há không kéo nó lên sao?
"Which of you is there," He replied, "who, if he has but a single sheep and it falls into a hole on the Sabbath, will not lay hold of it and lift it out?
12 Huống chi người ta trọng hơn con chiên là dường nào! Vậy, trong ngày Sa-bát có phép làm việc lành.
Is not a man, however, far superior to a sheep? Therefore it is right to do good on the Sabbath."
13 Đoạn, Ngài phán cùng người tay teo rằng: Hãy giơ tay ra. Người liền giơ tay, thì tay nầy cũng lành như tay kia.
Then He said to the man, "Stretch out your arm." And he stretched it out, and it was restored quite sound like the other.
14 Những người Pha-ri-si đi ra ngoài rồi, bàn với nhau, lập mưu đặng giết Ngài.
But the Pharisees after leaving the synagogue consulted together against Him, how they might destroy Him.
15 Song Đức Chúa Jêsus biết điều ấy, thì bỏ đi khỏi chỗ đó; có nhiều người theo, và Ngài chữa lành cả.
Aware of this, Jesus departed elsewhere; and a great number of people followed Him, all of whom He cured.
16 Ngài cấm ngặt họ đừng cho ai biết Ngài;
But He gave them strict injunctions not to blaze abroad His doings,
17 để được ứng nghiệm lời đấng tiên tri Ê-sai đã nói rằng:
that those words of the Prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled,
18 Nầy, tôi tớ ta đã chọn, Là người mà ta rất yêu dấu, đẹp lòng ta mọi đàng. Ta sẽ cho Thánh Linh ta ngự trên người, Người sẽ rao giảng sự công bình cho dân ngoại.
"This is My servant whom I have chosen, My dearly loved One in whom My soul takes pleasure. I will put My spirit upon Him, and He will announce justice to the nations.
19 Người sẽ chẳng cãi lẫy, chẳng kêu la, Và chẳng ai nghe được tiếng người ngoài đường cái.
He will not wrangle or raise His voice, nor will His voice be heard in the broadways.
20 Người sẽ chẳng bẻ cây sậy đã gãy, chẳng tắt ngọn đèn gần tàn, Cho đến chừng nào người khiến sự công bình được thắng.
A crushed reed He will not utterly break, nor will He quench the still smouldering wick, until He has led on Justice to victory.
21 Dân ngoại sẽ trông cậy danh người.
And on His name shall the nations rest their hopes."
22 Bấy giờ có kẻ đem đến cho Đức Chúa Jêsus một người mắc quỉ ám, đui và câm; Ngài chữa cho, đến nỗi người câm nói và thấy được.
At that time a demoniac was brought to Him, blind and dumb; and He cured him, so that the dumb man could speak and see.
23 Chúng lấy làm lạ, mà nói rằng: Có phải người đó là con cháu vua Đa-vít chăng?
And the crowds of people were all filled with amazement and said, "Can this be the Son of David?"
24 Song những người Pha-ri-si nghe vậy, thì nói rằng: Người nầy chỉ nhờ Bê-ên-xê-bun là chúa quỉ mà trừ quỉ đó thôi.
The Pharisees heard it and said, "This man only expels demons by the power of Baal-zebul, the Prince of demons."
25 Đức Chúa Jêsus biết ý tưởng họ, thì phán rằng: Một nước mà chia xé nhau thì bị phá hoang; một thành hay là một nhà mà chia xé nhau thì không còn được.
Knowing their thoughts He said to them, "Every kingdom in which civil war has raged suffers desolation; and every city or house in which there is internal strife will be brought low.
26 Nếu quỉ Sa-tan trừ quỉ Sa-tan, ấy là tự nó chia xé nhau; thì nước nó làm sao còn được ư?
And if Satan is expelling Satan, he has begun to make war on himself: how therefore shall his kingdom last?
27 Và nếu ta nhờ Bê-ên-xê-bun mà trừ quỉ, thì con các ngươi nhờ ai mà trừ quỉ ư? Bởi đó, chính chúng nó sẽ xử đoán các ngươi vậy.
And if it is by Baal-zebul's power that I expel the demons, by whose power do your disciples expel them? They therefore shall be your judges.
28 Mà nếu ta cậy Thánh Linh của Đức Chúa Trời để trừ quỉ, thì nước Đức Chúa Trời đã đến tận các ngươi.
But if it is by the power of the Spirit of God that I expel the demons, it is evident that the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
29 Hay là, có lẽ nào, ai vào nhà một người mạnh sức để cướp lấy của, mà trước không trói người mạnh sức ấy được sao? Phải trói người rồi mới cướp của nhà người được.
Again, how can any one enter the house of a strong man and carry off his goods, unless first of all he masters and secures the strong man: then he will ransack his house.
30 Ai không ở với ta, thì nghịch cùng ta; ai không thâu hiệp với ta, thì tan ra.
"The man who is not with me is against me, and he who is not gathering with me is scattering abroad.
31 Aáy vậy, ta phán cùng các ngươi, các tội lỗi và lời phạm thượng của người ta đều sẽ được tha; song lời phạm thượng đến Đức Thánh Linh thì sẽ chẳng được tha đâu.
This is why I tell you that men may find forgiveness for every other sin and impious word, but that for impious speaking against the Holy Spirit they shall find no forgiveness.
32 Nếu ai nói phạm đến Con người, thì sẽ được tha; song nếu ai nói phạm đến Đức Thánh Linh, thì dầu đời nầy hay đời sau cũng sẽ chẳng được tha. (aiōn g165)
And whoever shall speak against the Son of Man may obtain forgiveness; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, neither in this nor in the coming age shall he obtain forgiveness." (aiōn g165)
33 Hoặc cho là cây tốt thì trái cũng tốt, hoặc cho là cây xấu thì trái cũng xấu; vì xem trái thì biết cây.
"Either grant the tree to be wholesome and its fruit wholesome, or the tree poisonous and its fruit poisonous; for the tree is known by its fruit.
34 Hỡi dòng dõi rắn lục; bay vốn là loài xấu, làm sao nói được sự tốt? Bởi vì do sự đầy dẫy trong lòng mà miệng mới nói ra.
O vipers' brood, how can you speak what is good when you are evil? For it is from the overflow of the heart that the mouth speaks.
35 Người lành do nơi đã chứa điều thiện mà phát ra điều thiện; nhưng kẻ dữ do nơi đã chứa điều ác mà phát ra điều ác.
A good man from his good store produces good things, and a bad man from his bad store produces bad things.
36 Vả, ta bảo các ngươi, đến ngày phán xét, người ta sẽ khai ra mọi lời hư không mà mình đã nói;
But I tell you that for every careless word that men shall speak they will be held accountable on the day of Judgement.
37 vì bởi lời nói mà ngươi sẽ được xưng là công bình, cũng bởi lời nói mà ngươi sẽ bị phạt.
For each of you by his words shall be justified, or by his words shall be condemned."
38 Bấy giờ có mấy thầy thông giáo và người Pha-ri-si thưa cùng Đức Chúa Jêsus rằng: Bẩm thầy, chúng tôi muốn xem thầy làm dấu lạ.
Then He was accosted by some of the Scribes and of the Pharisees who said, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign given by you."
39 Ngài đáp rằng: Dòng dõi hung ác gian dâm này xin một dấu lạ, nhưng sẽ chẳng cho dấu lạ khác ngoài dấu lạ của đấng tiên tri Giô-na.
"Wicked and faithless generation!" He replied, "they clamour for a sign, but none shall be given to them except the sign of the Prophet Jonah.
40 Vì Giô-na đã bị ở trong bụng cá lớn ba ngày ba đêm, cũng một thể ấy, Con người sẽ ở trong lòng đất ba ngày ba đêm.
For just as Jonah was three days in the sea-monster's belly, so will the Son of Man be three days in the heart of the earth.
41 Đến ngày phán xét, dân thành Ni-ni-ve sẽ đứng dậy với dòng dõi nầy mà lên án nó, vì dân ấy đã nghe lời Giô-na giảng và ăn năn; mà đây nầy, có một người tôn trọng hơn Giô-na!
There will stand up men of Nineveh at the Judgement together with the present generation, and will condemn it; because they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and mark! there is One greater than Jonah here.
42 Đến ngày phán xét, nữ hoàng nam phương sẽ đứng dậy với dòng dõi nầy mà lên án nó, vì người từ nơi cùng trái đất đến nghe lời khôn ngoan vua Sa-lô-môn; mà đây nầy, có một người tôn trọng hơn vua Sa-lô-môn!
The Queen of the south will awake at the Judgement together with the present generation, and will condemn it; because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and mark! there is One greater than Solomon here.
43 Khi tà ma ra khỏi một người, thì nó đi đến nơi khô khan kiếm chỗ nghỉ, nhưng kiếm không được;
"No sooner however has the foul spirit gone out of the man, then he roams about in places where there is no water, seeking rest but finding none.
44 rồi nó nói rằng: Ta sẽ trở về nhà ta mà ta mới ra khỏi; khi trở về, thấy nhà không, quét sạch, và sửa soạn tử tế.
Then he says, 'I will return to my house that I left;' and he comes and finds it unoccupied, swept clean, and in good order.
45 Nó bèn lại đi, đem về bảy quỉ khác dữ hơn nó nữa, cùng vào nhà đó mà ở; vậy số phận người ấy sau lại xấu hơn trước. Dòng dõi dữ nầy cũng như vậy.
Then he goes and brings back with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they come in and dwell there; and in the end that man's condition becomes worse than it was at first. So will it be also with the present wicked generation."
46 Khi Đức Chúa Jêsus còn phán cùng dân chúng, thì mẹ và anh em Ngài đến đứng ngoài, muốn nói cùng Ngài.
While He was still addressing the people His mother and His brothers were standing on the edge of the crowd desiring to speak to Him.
47 Có người thưa cùng Ngài rằng: Đây nầy, mẹ và anh em thầy ở ngoài, muốn nói cùng thầy.
So some one told Him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, and desire to speak to you."
48 Ngài đáp rằng: Ai là mẹ ta, ai là anh em ta?
"Who is my mother?" He said to the man; "and who are my brothers?"
49 Ngài giơ tay chỉ các môn đồ mình, mà phán rằng: Nầy là mẹ ta cùng anh em ta!
And pointing to His disciples He added, "See here are my mother and my brothers.
50 Vì hễ ai làm theo ý muốn Cha ta ở trên trời, thì người đó là anh em, chị em ta, cùng là mẹ ta vậy.
To obey my Father who is in Heaven--that is to be my brother and my sister and my mother."
