Xuất Hành 12
1 Tại xứ Ê-díp-tô, Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se và A-rôn rằng:
Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me there in Egypt,
2 Tháng nầy định làm tháng đầu cho các ngươi, tức là tháng giêng trong quanh năm.
“[From now on], this month [will be] the first month of the year for you.
3 Hãy nói cho toàn hội chúng Y-sơ-ra-ên rằng: Đến ngày mồng mười tháng nầy, mỗi gia trưởng tùy theo nhà mình phải bắt một con chiên con.
Tell all the Israeli people that in each family, the man who heads the family must select a lamb or a young goat for his household.
4 Nếu nhà ít người quá ăn không hết một chiên con, hãy chung cùng người rất lân cận mình, tùy theo số người; và hãy tính cho mỗi chiên con tùy sức người ăn hết.
If there are not enough people in his family to eat a whole [cooked] lamb, then his family and the family that lives next door may share one animal. Decide how many lambs you need according to the number of people in each family, and according to how much each person can eat.
5 Các ngươi hãy bắt hoặc trong bầy chiên, hoặc trong bầy dê, chiên con đực hay là dê con đực, tuổi giáp niên, chẳng tì vít chi,
The lambs or goats that you choose must be males, one-year-old, and they must not have any defects.
6 đoạn để dành cho đến ngày mười bốn tháng nầy; rồi cả hội chúng Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ giết nó, vào lối chiều tối.
You must take [special] care of these animals until the 14th day of the month. On that day, all the Israeli people must slaughter the lambs [or goats] in the evening.
7 Họ sẽ lấy huyết đem bôi trên hai cây cột và mày cửa của nhà nào ăn thịt chiên con đó.
Then they must take some of the blood [from the lambs or goats], and they must smear it on the doorposts and the (lintels/horizontal beams above the doorways) of the houses in which they will eat the meat.
8 Đêm ấy họ sẽ ăn thịt chiên quay với bánh không men và rau đắng.
They must roast the animals immediately and eat the meat that night. They must eat it with bread that is baked without yeast and with bitter herbs.
9 Chớ ăn thịt nửa chín nửa sống hay là luộc trong nước, nhưng phải quay trên lửa cả và đầu, giò, với bộ lòng.
You must not eat any of the meat raw, and you must not boil the meat. You must roast it [whole], without cutting off the head or the legs or removing the internal parts.
10 Các ngươi chớ để chi còn lại đến sáng mai; nếu còn lại, hãy thiêu đi.
You must eat all the meat that evening; do not let any of the meat remain [to be eaten] the next morning. If any of the meat is left until the next morning, you must [completely] burn it.
11 Vậy, ăn thịt đó, phải như vầy: Dây lưng cột, chân mang giày, tay cầm gậy, ăn hối hả; ấy là lễ Vượt-qua của Đức Giê-hô-va.
When you eat it, you must be dressed ready to travel, and you must eat it quickly. You must have your sandals on your feet and your walking stick in your hands. It will be a festival [called] Passover to [honor] me, Yahweh.
12 Đêm đó ta sẽ đi qua xứ Ê-díp-tô, hành hại mọi con đầu lòng xứ Ê-díp-tô, từ người ta cho đến súc vật; ta sẽ xét đoán các thần của xứ Ê-díp-tô; ta là Đức Giê-hô-va.
On that night I will go through all the country of Egypt, and I will kill all the oldest males in Egypt, both humans and animals. [By doing this] I will show that all the gods in Egypt are worthless. [I can do this], because I am Yahweh, [the all-powerful God].
13 Huyết bôi trên nhà các ngươi ở, sẽ dùng làm dấu hiệu; khi ta hành hại xứ Ê-díp-tô, thấy huyết đó, thì sẽ vượt qua, chẳng có tai nạn hủy diệt các ngươi.
The blood [that you smear on the doorways will be a mark to indicate] the houses in which you [Israelis] live. When I see the blood, I will [ignore and] pass by those houses, and I will not harm you [Israelis who live there], when I punish the Egyptians.
14 Các ngươi hãy ghi ngày đó làm kỷ niệm; trải các đời hãy giữ làm một lễ cho Đức Giê-hô-va, tức là một lễ lập ra đời đời.
[Each year], you must celebrate this festival on this day, to remember [what I], Yahweh, [have done for you]. In all the generations to come, [each year] you must celebrate [this festival]. [It must continue] forever.
15 Trong bảy ngày phải ăn bánh không men: vừa đến ngày thứ nhất, hãy dẹp men khỏi nhà đi; vì hễ ai ăn bánh có men từ ngày thứ nhất cho đến ngày thứ bảy, thì sẽ bị truất ra khỏi Y-sơ-ra-ên.
For seven days you must eat bread that has no yeast in it. On the first day of that week you must get rid of all the yeast that is in your houses. During those seven days, if anyone eats bread that is baked with yeast in it, [you must consider] that person to be no longer an Israeli.
16 Ngày thứ nhất, sẽ có một sự nhóm hiệp thánh; qua ngày thứ bảy các ngươi cũng sẽ có một sự nhóm hiệp thánh nữa. Trong mấy ngày đó chẳng nên làm công việc chi, chỉ lo sắm đồ ăn cho mỗi người cần ăn mà thôi.
On the first day [of that week], you must (have a holy meeting/gather together to [worship] me). You must do the same thing on the seventh day. People must not work on those two days. The only work they may do is to prepare food for you to eat.
17 Vậy, các ngươi hãy giữ lễ bánh không men, vì chính ngày đó ta rút quân đội các ngươi ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô; nên chi, trải các đời phải giữ ngày đó như một lễ lập ra đời đời.
[Every year] you must keep celebrating this festival of eating bread that has no yeast in it, because it will remind you that it was on this day that I brought all your tribal groups out of Egypt. So [every year], in all the generations to come, you must celebrate this day as a festival. It must continue forever.
18 Ngày mười bốn tháng giêng, chiều lại, các ngươi sẽ ăn bánh không men cho đến chiều ngày hai mươi mốt tháng đó.
In the first month of the year, on the 14th day of that month, the only bread you may eat is bread that has no yeast in it. You must keep doing that each day until the 21st day of that month. For those seven days you must not have any yeast in your house. [During that time], if anyone, either an Israeli or a foreigner, eats bread made with yeast, you must consider that person no longer to be an Israeli.
19 Trong bảy ngày không nên còn thấy men tại nhà các ngươi; vì bất luận người ngoại bang hay là người bổn xứ, hễ ai ăn bánh có men sẽ bị truất khỏi hội chúng Y-sơ-ra-ên.
20 Chớ nên ăn bánh có men; khắp nơi các ngươi ở đều phải ăn bánh không men.
In your houses, do not eat anything that has yeast in it during those seven days.”
21 Vậy, Môi-se nhóm lại các trưởng lão Y-sơ-ra-ên mà nói rằng: Hãy đi bắt một con trong bầy cho mọi nhà các ngươi, và giết nó làm lễ Vượt-qua.
Then Moses/I summoned all the leaders of the Israeli people. He/I said to them, “Each family should select a lamb and kill it, [in order that you may eat it to celebrate the festival that will be called] ‘Passover’.
22 Rồi hãy lấy một chùm kinh giới nhúng vào huyết trong chậu, bôi lên mày và hai cây cột cửa, đoạn, trong các ngươi chớ ai ra khỏi cửa nhà mình cho đến sáng mai.
Let the lamb’s blood [drain into] a basin. Get a bunch/sprig of (hyssop/a very leafy plant) and dip it in the blood. Then smear some of the blood on the doorposts and the (lintels/beams above the doorways) [of your houses]. The people in each house must all stay inside the house until the next morning.
23 Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ đi qua đặng hành hại xứ Ê-díp-tô; khi thấy huyết nơi mày và hai cây cột cửa, Ngài sẽ vượt qua, không cho kẻ tiêu diệt vào nhà các ngươi đặng hành hại.
When Yahweh goes throughout Egypt to kill the [oldest male in each] Egyptian family, he will see the blood on the (lintels/beams of your doorways), and he will [ignore and] pass by those houses. He will not allow the angel who causes people to die to enter your houses and kill [any of] your [oldest sons].
24 Hãy giữ lễ nầy như một lệ lập ra đời đời cho các ngươi và con cháu các ngươi.
You and your descendants must celebrate this festival forever.
25 Khi nào các ngươi vào xứ mà Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ ban cho, như lời Ngài đã phán, thì hãy giữ lễ nầy.
And when you arrive in the land that Yahweh will be giving to you as he promised, you must keep celebrating this ritual [every year].
26 Khi con cháu các ngươi hỏi rằng: Lễ nầy là nghĩa chi?
When your children ask you, ‘What does this ritual mean?’,
27 Hãy đáp rằng: Aáy là của tế lễ Vượt-qua của Đức Giê-hô-va, vì khi Ngài hành hại xứ Ê-díp-tô thì Ngài đi vượt qua các nhà dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, và cứu nhà chúng ta đó.
you must tell them, ‘This ritual is [to remember how our ancestors] sacrificed [lambs] on the night that Yahweh’s angel passed by the houses of the Israeli people [when they were] in Egypt. He killed the [oldest males/sons in all] the Egyptian houses, but he spared [the sons in] [MTY] our houses.’” After Moses/I told them this, they all bowed their heads and worshiped [Yahweh].
28 Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên bèn cúi đầu lạy, rồi đi, làm theo như lời Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn Môi-se và A-rôn.
Then the Israeli people did what Yahweh had told Aaron and Moses/me [to tell them to do].
29 Vả, khi giữa đêm, Đức Giê-hô-va hành hại mọi con đầu lòng tại xứ Ê-díp-tô, từ thái tử của Pha-ra-ôn ngồi trên ngai mình, cho đến con cả người bị tù, và hết thảy con đầu lòng của súc vật.
At midnight Yahweh killed all the oldest sons of the Egyptian people, all over Egypt. That included the king’s oldest son, the oldest sons of the prisoners in the dungeon/jail, and [the oldest sons of everyone else]. He also killed the oldest males of all the Egyptians’ livestock.
30 Đang lúc ban đêm, Pha-ra-ôn, quần thần cùng hết thảy người Ê-díp-tô đều chờ dậy; có tiếng kêu la inh ỏi trong xứ Ê-díp-tô, vì chẳng một nhà nào là không có người chết.
That night the king, all his officials, and [all the rest of] the Egyptian people awoke [and discovered what had happened]. They wailed loudly all over Egypt, because in every house, someone’s son had died.
31 Trong đêm đó, Pha-ra-ôn bèn đòi Môi-se và A-rôn mà phán rằng: Hai ngươi và dân Y-sơ-ra-ên hãy chờ dậy, ra khỏi giữa vòng dân ta mà đi hầu việc Đức Giê-hô-va, như các ngươi đã nói.
That night the king summoned Aaron and Moses/me and said, “You and all the [other] Israeli people, must leave my country [immediately]! Go and worship Yahweh, as you requested!
32 Cũng hãy dẫn bò và chiên đi, như lời các ngươi đã nói, và cầu phước cho ta nữa.
Take your flocks [of sheep and goats] and herds [of cattle], and leave! And ask Yahweh to bless me, also!”
33 Người Ê-díp-tô thúc giục dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ra khỏi xứ mau mau, vì nói rằng: Chúng ta đều chết hết!
Then the Israeli people did as Moses/I had told them. They [went to] their Egyptian [neighbors] and asked them for silver and gold jewelry and clothing.
34 Vậy, dân sự đều đem bột nhồi rồi chưa men đi, và bọc những thùng nhồi bột trong áo tơi vác lên vai mình.
Yahweh caused the Egyptian people to greatly respect the [Israeli] people, so they gave them what they asked for. In that way, they carried away the wealth of the Egyptian people.
35 Vả, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên có làm y theo lời Môi-se đã dặn, xin người Ê-díp-tô những đồ bằng bạc và bằng vàng cùng áo xống.
The Egyptians urged the [Israeli] people to leave their country quickly. They said, “[If you do not do that], we will all die!”
36 Đức Giê-hô-va làm cho dân sự được ơn trước mắt người Ê-díp-tô, nên họ bằng lòng cho; và dân Y-sơ-ra-ên lột trần người Ê-díp-tô vậy.
So the [Israeli] people [prepared to leave at once]. They took the bowls in which they mixed the dough to make bread, and the dough that was in the bowls without any yeast in it, and they wrapped the bowls in their cloaks. They put the bowls on their shoulders [and left].
37 Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đi từ Ram-se đến Su-cốt, số không kể con nít, được chừng sáu mươi vạn người đàn ông đi bộ.
The Israeli people traveled from Rameses [city] to Succoth [town]. There were about 600,000 men who went, in addition to the women and children.
38 Lại có vô số người ngoại bang đi lên chung luôn với chiên, bò, súc vật rất nhiều.
Many other people who were not Israelis went along with them. There were also livestock, the flocks [of sheep and goats] and herds [of cattle].
39 Chúng bèn hấp bánh không men bằng bột của mình đã đem theo từ xứ Ê-díp-tô; bột không men, vì cớ bị đuổi khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô không thế chậm trễ, và cũng chẳng sắm kịp lương thực chi được.
On their way, they baked bread with the dough that they carried with them when they had been expelled from Egypt. The dough did not have yeast in it, because they were told to leave Egypt so quickly that they did not have enough time to get food ready to take with them, or enough time to mix yeast in the dough.
40 Vả, thì kiều ngụ của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên tại xứ Ê-díp-tô được bốn trăm ba mươi năm.
The Israeli people had lived in Egypt 430 years.
41 Khi mãn bốn trăm ba mươi năm rồi, thì, cũng trong ngày đó, các quân đội của Đức Giê-hô-va ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô.
On the day that those 430 years ended, on that very day, all the tribes of Yahweh’s people left Egypt.
42 Aáy là một đêm người ta phải giữ cho Đức Giê-hô-va, vì Ngài rút dân Y-sơ-ra-ên khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô. Trải các đời, cả dân Y-sơ-ra-ên phải giữ đêm đó, để tôn trọng Đức Giê-hô-va.
It was a night when Yahweh (protected/guarded over) them as he brought them out of Egypt. So this same night every year is a night that is dedicated to Yahweh, a night when the Israeli people in every generation [remember how] Yahweh protected our ancestors.
43 Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se và A-rôn rằng: Đây là luật lệ về lễ Vượt-qua: Phàm người ngoại bang chẳng được ăn lễ đó.
Then Yahweh said this to Aaron and Moses/me: “These are my instructions about the Passover ritual: Do not let foreigners eat [the Passover meal]. But any male slaves that you have bought may eat it after you have circumcised them.
44 Còn về phần kẻ tôi mọi, là người bỏ tiền ra mua, ngươi hãy làm phép cắt bì cho, thì họ mới được ăn.
45 Khách ngoại bang và kẻ làm thuê cũng chẳng được phép ăn lễ đâu.
Do not let people who are living among you temporarily, or servants whom you have hired, eat [the Passover meal].
46 Lễ đó chỉ ăn nội trong nhà; ngươi đừng đem thịt ra ngoài, và cũng đừng làm gãy một cái xương nào.
Each family must eat the Passover meal inside their own house. Do not take any of the food outside the house. And do not break any of the bones of the lamb that is sacrificed.
47 Hết thảy hội chúng Y-sơ-ra-ên phải giữ lễ Vượt-qua.
All the Israeli people must celebrate this festival.
48 Khi một khách ngoại bang nào kiều ngụ nhà ngươi, muốn giữ lễ Vượt-qua của Đức Giê-hô-va, thì mọi người nam của họ phải chịu phép cắt bì; đoạn, họ mới được đến gần giữ lễ nầy, và được coi như người sanh trong xứ. Nhưng ai không chịu phép cắt bì, thì chẳng được ăn đâu.
When someone from another country comes to live with you and wants to celebrate the Passover Festival, circumcise all the males in his household. Then they may eat the Passover meal, and you should treat those people as though they were born as Israelis. But do not allow men who have not been circumcised to eat the Passover meal.
49 Cũng đồng một luật cho người sanh trong xứ cùng khách ngoại bang nào đến kiều ngụ giữa các ngươi.
These rules apply to people who were born as Israelis and to foreigners who come and live among you.”
50 Toàn dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đều làm như lời Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán dặn Môi-se và A-rôn.
All the Israeli people obeyed Aaron and Moses/me and did what Yahweh had commanded.
51 Cũng trong ngày đó, Đức Giê-hô-va rút dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, tùy theo quân đội, ra khỏi xứ Ê-díp-tô.
On that very day Yahweh brought all the tribes of the Israeli people out of Egypt.
