II Sa-mu-ên 8

1 Sau điều đó, Đa-vít đánh bại dân Phi-li-tin, bắt phục chúng nó, và cất quyền kinh đô khỏi chúng nó.

And it came to pass after this, that David struck the Philistines, and put them to flight, and David took the tribute from out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 Người cũng đánh dân Mô-áp, bắt chúng nằm dài trên đất mà lấy dây đo: đo hai dây để giết, rồi đo một dây để sống. Như vậy, dân Mô-áp phải phục Đa-vít và đóng thuế cho người.

And David struck Moab, and measured them out with lines, having laid them down on the ground: and there were two lines for slaying, and two lines he kept alive: and Moab became servants to David, yielding tribute.

3 Đa-vít cũng đánh Ha-đa-đê-xe, con trai của Rê-hốp, vua Xô-ba, đang khi người đi đặng lấy lại quyền quản hạt trên sông Ơ-phơ-rát.

And David struck Adraazar the son of Raab king of Suba, as he went to extend his power to the river Euphrates.

4 Đa-vít bắt của người một ngày bảy trăm lính kị và hai mươi ngày lính bộ, cắt nhượng ngựa của các xe, chỉ để dành cho chúng nó một trăm cổ xe mà thôi.

And David took a thousand of his chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all his chariot [horses], and he reserved to himself a hundred chariots.

5 Dân Sy-ri ở Đa-mách đến tiếp trợ Ha-đa-đê-xe, vua Xô-ba; Đa-vít bèn giết chúng nó hai mươi hai ngàn người.

And Syria of Damascus comes to help Adraazar king of Suba, and David struck twenty-two thousand men belonging to the Syrian.

6 Kế đó, người lập đồn trong Đa-mách xứ Sy-ri; dân Sy-ri phục dịch Đa-vít và nộp thuế. Hễ nơi nào Đa-vít đi đến, thì Đức Giê-hô-va cho người được thắng.

And David placed a garrison in Syria near Damascus, and the Syrians became servants and tributaries to David: and the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

7 Đa-vít lấy những thuẫn bằng vàng của các đầy tớ Ha-đa-đê-xe mang, mà gởi đến Giê-ru-sa-lem.

And David took the golden bracelets which were on the servants of Adraazar king of Suba, and brought them to Jerusalem. And Susakim king of Egypt took them, when he went up to Jerusalem in the days of Roboam son of Solomon.

8 ỳ Bê-tách và Bê-rô-tôi, hai thành của Ha-đa-đê-xe, vua cũng đoạt lấy đồng rất nhiều.

And king David took from Metebac, and from the choice cities of Adraazar, very much brass: with that Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the lavers, and all the furniture.

9 Thôi, vua Ha-mát, hay rằng vua Đa-vít đánh bại cả đạo binh của Ha-đa-đê-xe,

And You the king of Hemath heard that David had struck all the host of Adraazar.

10 bèn sai Giô-ram, con trai mình, đến vua Đa-vít đặng chào mừng, và tặng khen người đã đánh bại Ha-đa-đê-xe. Vì Ha-đa-đê-xe hằng đánh giặc cùng Thôi. Giô-ra đem dâng những chậu bằng bạc, bằng vàng và bằng đồng.

And You sent Jedduram his son to king David, to ask him of his welfare, and to congratulate him on his fighting against Adraazar and striking him, for he was an enemy to Adraazar: and in his hands were vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass.

11 Vua Đa-vít cũng biệt các món nầy riêng ra thánh cho Đức Giê-hô-va, y như người đã biệt riêng ra thánh bạc và vàng của các dân tộc mà người đã bắt phục:

And these king David consecrated to the Lord, with the silver and with the gold which he consecrated out of all the cities which he conquered,

12 tức là dân Sy-ri, dân Mô-áp, dân Am-môn, dân Phi-li-tin, và dân A-ma-léc. Người cũng làm như vậy về của giặc, lấy nơi Ha-đa-đê-xe, con trai của Rê-hốp, vua xứ Xô-ba.

out of Idumea, and out of Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalec, and from the spoils of Adraazar son of Raab king of Suba.

13 Sau khi thắng dân Sy-ri trở về, Đa-vít lại nổi danh tiếng, vì đánh giết một vạn tám ngàn dân Ê-đôm trong trũng muối.

And David made [himself] a name: and when he returned he struck Idumea in Gebelem to [the number of] eighteen thousand.

14 Người lập đồn trong khắp xứ Ê-đôm, và cả xứ Ê-đôm phải phục Đa-vít. Như vậy, Đức Giê-hô-va khiến cho Đa-vít được thắng khắp nơi nào người đi đến.

And he set garrisons in Idumea, even in all Idumea: and all the Idumeans were servants to the king. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

15 Đa-vít làm vua trên cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, cai trị cả dân sự mình cách ngay thẳng và công bình.

And David reigned over all Israel: and David wrought judgment and justice over all his people.

16 Giô-áp, con trai Xê-ru-gia, làm quan tổng binh; Giô-sa-phát, con trai A-hi-lút, làm quan thái sử;

And Joab the son of Saruia [was] over the host; and Josaphat the son of Achilud [was keeper] of the records.

17 Xa-đốc, con trai A-hi-túp, và A-hi-mê-léc, con trai A-bia-tha, làm thầy tế lễ; và Se-ra-gia làm ký lục;

And Sadoc the son of Achitob, and Achimelech son of Abiathar, [were] priests; and Sasa [was] the scribe,

18 Bê-na-gia, con trai Giê-hô-gia-đa, làm quan trưởng dân Kê-rê-thít và dân Phê-lê-thít; còn các con trai Đa-vít làm tể tướng vua.

and Banaeas son of Jodae [was] councillor, and the Chelethite and the Phelethite, and the sons of David, were princes of the court.
