1 Vua bèn sai người nhóm hiệp hết thảy những trưởng lão Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem.
And thei telden to the kyng that, that sche seide; `which kyng sente, and alle the elde men of Juda, and of Jerusalem, weren gaderid to hym.
2 Đoạn, vua đi lên đền thờ Đức Giê-hô-va, có hết thảy người Giu-đa, cả dân cư Giê-ru-sa-lem, những thầy tế lễ, đấng tiên tri, cùng cả dân sự, vô luận nhỏ lớn, đều đi theo người. Người đọc cho chúng nghe các lời của sách giao ước, mà người ta đã tìm được trong đền thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va.
And the kyng stiede in to the temple of the Lord, and alle the men of Juda, and alle men that dwelliden in Jerusalem with hym, the preestis, and the prophetis, and al the puple, fro litil `til to greet; and he redde, while alle men herden, alle the wordis of the book of boond of pees of the Lord, which book was foundun in the hows of the Lord.
3 Vua đứng trên tòa, lập giao ước trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, hứa đi theo Đức Giê-hô-va, hết lòng hết ý gìn giữ những điều răn, chứng cớ, và luật lệ của Ngài, và làm hoàn thành lời giao ước đã chép trong sách này. Cả dân sự đều ưng lời giao ước ấy.
And the kyng stood on the grees; and he smoot boond of pees bifor the Lord, that thei schulden go aftir the Lord, and kepe hise comaundementis and witnessyngis and cerymonyes in al the herte and in al the soule, that thei schulden reise the wordis of this boond of pees, that weren writun in that book; and the puple assentide to the couenaunt.
4 Vua bèn truyền lịnh cho thầy tế lễ thượng phẩm Hinh-kia, cho mấy thầy phó tế, và các người giữ cửa đền thờ, cất khỏi đền thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va hết thảy những khí giới người ta làm đặng cúng thờ Ba-anh, Aùt-tạt-tê, và cả cơ binh trên trời. Người bảo thiêu các vật đó ngoài Giê-ru-sa-lem, trong đồng ruộng Xết-rôn, rồi đem tro nó đến Bê-tên.
And the kyng comaundide to Helchie, the bischop, and to the preestis of the secounde ordre, and to the porteris, that thei schulden caste out of the temple alle the vesselis, that weren maad to Baal, and in the wode, and to al the knyythod of heuene; and he brente tho vessels with out Jerusalem, in the euene valey of Cedron, and he bar the poudir of tho `vessels in to Bethel.
5 Người cũng đuổi những thầy cả của các tà thần mà những vua Giu-đa đã lập, đặng xông hương trên các nơi cao trong những thành Giu-đa và tại các nơi chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem; cũng đuổi đi những thầy cả dâng hương cho Ba-anh, cho mặt trời, mặt trăng, hu”nh đạo, và cả cơ binh trên trời.
And he dide awei false dyuynours `that dyuynyden in the entrailis of beestis sacrified to idols, whiche the kingis of Juda hadden sett to make sacrifice in hiy thingis bi the citees of Juda, and in the cumpas of Jerusalem; and he dide awey hem that brenten encense to Baal, and to the sunne, and to the moone, and to twelue signes, and to al the knyythod of heuene.
6 Người cất hình tượng Aùt-tạt-tê khỏi đền thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va, đem nó ra ngoài Giê-ru-sa-lem, đến khe Xết-rôn, thiêu đốt nó tại đó và nghiền ra tro, rồi rải tro ấy trên mồ của thường dân.
And he made the wode to be borun out of the hows of the Lord without Jerusalem in the euene valey of Cedron, and he brente it there; and he droof it in to poudir, and castide it forth on the sepulcris of the comyn puple.
7 Người lại phá những phòng của bợm vĩ gian ở trong đền thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va, là nơi đó người nữ dệt những trại cho Aùt-tạt-tê.
Also he distriede the litle housis of `men turnyd into wommens condiciouns, whiche housis weren in the hows of the Lord; for whiche the wymmen `maden as litil howsis of the wode.
8 Người cũng đòi đến hết thảy những thầy tế lễ ở các thành Giu-đa, làm ô uế những nơi cao mà chúng nó có xông hương, từ Ghê-ba cho đến Bê-e-Sê-ba; lại phá những bàn thờ lập tại cửa thành, tức tại cửa Giô-suê, quan cai thành, ở về phía bên tả, khi vào cửa thành.
And he gaderide alle the preestis fro the citees of Juda, and he defoulide the hiye thingis, where the preestis maden sacrifice, fro Gabaa `til to Bersabee; and he distriede the auters of yatis in the entryng of the dore of Josie, prince of a citee, which dore was at the lift half of the yate of the cytee.
9 Song, những người đã làm thầy tế lễ các nơi cao, thì chẳng được lên đến bàn thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va tại Giê-ru-sa-lem; song họ ăn bánh không men với anh em mình.

10 Người cũng làm ô uế Tô-phết tại trong trũng con cái Hi-nôm, hầu cho từ rày về sau, không ai được đưa con trai hay là con gái mình qua lửa cho Mo-lóc.
Also he defoulide Tophet, which is in the euene valey of the sone of Ennon, that no man schulde halewe his sone ether his douytir bi fier to Moloch.
11 Người trừ bỏ những con ngựa các vua Giu-đa dâng cho mặt trời, ở nơi cửa vào đền Đức Giê-hô-va, tại nơi công đường của quan hoạn Nê-than-Mê-léc, trong hành lang của đền thờ; còn những xe của mặt trời, thì người thiêu đốt.
Also he dide awei horsis, whiche the kyngis of Juda hadden youe to the sunne, in the entryng of the temple of the Lord, bisidis the chaumbir of Nathanmalech, geldyng, that was in Pharurym; forsothe he brente bi fier the charis of the sunne.
12 Vua Giô-si-a cũng phá những bàn thờ mà các vua Giu-đa đã cất trên nóc nhà lầu của vua A-cha; lại những bàn thờ mà Ma-na-se có dựng lên trong hai hành lang của đền thờ Đức Giê-hô-va, thì người đập bể, cất khỏi chỗ, và rải bụi nát nó trong khe Xết-rôn.
Also the kyng distriede the auteris, that weren on the roouys of the soler of Achaz, whiche auteris the kyngis of Juda hadden maad; and the kyng distriede the auteris, whiche Manasses hadde maad in the twei grete placis of the temple of the Lord; and he ran fro thennus, and scateride the askis of tho in to the strond of Cedron.
13 Vua cũng làm ô uế những nơi cao ở tại trước Giê-ru-sa-lem, bên phía hữu núi Tà-tịch, là những nơi cao mà Sa-lô-môn, vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, đã cất lên để cùng thờ Aùt-tạt-tê, thần tượng quái gở của dân Si-đôn, Kê-mốt, thần tượng quái gở của dân Mô-áp, và Minh-cô, thần tượng gớm ghiếc của dân Am-môn.
Also the kyng defoulide the hiye thingis, that weren in Jerusalem at the riyt part of the hil of offencioun, whiche Salomon, kyng of Israel, hadde bildid to Astroth, the ydol of Sidoneis, and to Chamos, the offencioun of Moab, and to Melchon, abhominacioun of the sones of Amon;
14 Người bẻ gãy các trụ thờ, đánh đổ các hình tượng Aùt-tạt-tê, và chất đầy hài cốt tại chỗ nó đã đứng.
and he al to-brak ymagis, and kittide doun wodis, and fillide the places of tho with the boonys of deed men.
15 Lại, người phá bàn thờ tại Bê-tên, và nơi cao mà Giê-rô-bô-am, con trai Nê-bát, đã lập, tức là người đó gây cho Y-sơ-ra-ên phạm tội; người phá bàn thờ ấy, thiêu đốt nơi cao, và cán nghiền thành ra tro bụi; cũng thiêu đốt tượng Aùt-tạt-tê.
Ferthermore also he distriede the auter that was in Bethel, and `he distriede the hiye thing, which Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, hadde maad, that made Israel to do synne; and he distriede that hiy autir, and brente it, and al to brak it in to poudir, and kittide doun also the wode.
16 Giô-si-a xây lại chợt thấy những mồ mả ở trên núi; người bèn sai lấy hài cốt ở trong những mồ mả ấy, rồi thiêu nó trên bàn thờ, làm cho bàn thờ bị ô uế, y như lời của Đức Giê-hô-va, mà người của Đức Chúa Trời đã báo cáo trước.
And Josias turnyde, and siy there sepulcris that weren in the hil; and he sente, and took the boonys fro the sepulcris, and brente tho on the auter, and defoulide it bi the word of the Lord, which word the man of God spak, that biforseide these wordis.
17 Đoạn, vua hỏi rằng: Bia ta thấy đó là chi? Các người thành ấy đáp rằng: Aáy là mồ mả của người Đức Chúa Trời ở Giu-đa, đến báo cáo trước về những việc mà vua đã làm cho bàn thờ tại Bê-tên.
And the kyng seide, What is this biriel, which Y se? And the citeseyns of that citee answeriden to hym, It is the sepulcre of the man of God, that cam fro Juda, and biforseide these wordis, whiche thou hast doon on the auter of Bethel.
18 Người tiếp: Hãy để hài cốt ấy bình yên, chớ ai dời đi. Vậy, chúng chẳng dời hài cốt của người, cùng hài cốt của đấng tiên tri ở Sa-ma-ri mà ra.
And the kyng seide, Suffre ye hym; no man moue hise boonys. And hise boonys dwelliden vntouchid with the boones of the prophete, that cam fro Samarie.
19 Giô-si-a cũng dỡ hết thảy chùa miễu của các nơi cao ở tại trong thành Sa-ma-ri, mà các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên đã lập đặng chọc giận Đức Giê-hô-va, phá hủy các nhà đó như đã làm trong Bê-tên.
Ferthermore also Josias dide awei alle the templis of hiye thingis, that weren in the citees of Samarie, whiche the kyngis of Israel hadden maad to terre the Lord to ire; and he dide to tho templis bi alle thingis whiche he hadde do in Bethel.
20 Người giết tại trên bàn thờ những thầy cả của các nơi cao, và thiêu hài cốt ở trên. Đoạn, người trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem.
And he killide alle the preestis of hiye thingis, that weren there on the auteris, and he brente mennus boonus on tho auteris; and he turnede ayen to Jerusalem;
21 Vua bèn truyền lịnh cho cả dân sự rằng: Hãy giữ lễ Vượt qua cho Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của các ngươi, tùy theo các lời đã chép trong sách giao ước.
and comaundide to al the puple, and seide, Make ye pask to `youre Lord God, vp that, that is writun in the book of this boond of pees.
22 Trong lúc các quan xét đã xét đoán Y-sơ-ra-ên, hoặc trong đời các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên và vua Giu-đa, thật chẳng hề có giữ một lễ Vượt qua nào
Forsothe sich pask was not maad, fro the daies of iugis that demyden Israel, and of alle daies of the kyngis of Israel and of Juda,
23 giống như lễ Vượt qua giữ cho Đức Giê-hô-va tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, nhằm năm thứ mười tám đời vua Giô-si-a.
as this pask was maad to the Lord in Jerusalem in the eiytenthe yeer of kyng Josias.
24 Giô-si-a cũng trừ diệt những đồng cốt và thầy bói, những thê-ra-phim, và hình tượng, cùng hết thảy sự gớm ghiếc thấy trong xứ Giu-đa và tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, đặng làm theo các lời luật pháp đã chép trong sách mà thầy tế lễ Hinh-kia đã tìm đặng trong đền thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va.
But also Josias dide awei men hauynge fendis spekinge in her wombis, and false diuinouris in auteris, and `he dide awei the figuris of idols, and alle vnclennessis, and abhomynaciouns, that weren in the lond of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he schulde do the wordis of the lawe, that weren writun in the book, `which book Elchie, the preest, foond in the temple of the Lord.
25 Trước Giô-si-a, chẳng có một vua nào hết lòng, hết ý, hết sức mình, mà tríu mến Đức Giê-hô-va, làm theo trọn vẹn luật pháp của Môi-se; và sau người cũng chẳng có thấy ai giống như người nữa.
No kyng bifor him was lijk hym, `that turnede ayen to the Lord in al his herte, and in al his soule, and in al his vertu, bi al the lawe of Moises; nether aftir hym roos ony lijk hym.
26 Dầu vậy Đức Giê-hô-va không nguôi cơn giận nóng và mạnh mà Ngài nổi lên cùng Giu-đa, vì cớ các tội trọng của Ma-na-se trêu chọc Ngài.
Netheles the Lord was not turned awei fro the ire of his greet veniaunce, bi which his strong veniaunce was wrooth ayens Juda, for the terryngis to ire by whiche Manasses hadde terrid hym to ire.
27 Vả, Đức Giê-hô-va có phán rằng: Ta sẽ cất Giu-đa khỏi mặt ta như ta đã cất Y-sơ-ra-ên đi, và ta sẽ trừ bỏ thành Giê-ru-sa-lem mà ta đã chọn, và đền thờ mà ta phán về nó rằng: Danh ta sẽ ngự tại đó.
Therfor the Lord seide, Y schal do awei also Juda fro my face, as Y dide awei Israel; and Y schal caste awei this citee, which Y chees, Jerusalem, and the hows `of which Y seide, My name schal be there.
28 Các chuyện khác của Giô-si-a, những công việc người làm, điều chép trong sử ký về các vua Giu-đa.
Forsothe the residue of wordis of Josias, and alle thingis whiche he dide, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
29 Trong đời Giô-si-a, Pha-ra-ôn Nê-cô, vua Ê-díp-tô, đi lên sông Ơ-phơ-rát, hãm đánh vua A-si-ri. Giô-si-a bèn đi ngữ người. Nhưng Pha-ra-ôn vừa khi gặp người, bèn giết đi tại Mê-ghi-đô.
In the daies of hym Farao Nechao, kyng of Egipt, stiede ayens the kyng of Assiriens, to the flood Eufrates; and Josias, kyng of Juda, yede in to metyng of hym, and Josias was slayn in Magedo, whanne he hadde seyn hym.
30 Từ Mê-ghi-đô, các tôi tớ chở thây người trên xe về Giê-ru-sa-lem, rồi chôn người tại trong mồ mả người. Dân của xứ chọn Giô-a-cha, con trai Giô-si-a xức dầu cho người, và tôn người lên làm vua thế cho cha người.
And `hise seruauntis baren hym deed fro Magedo, and brouyte him in to Jerusalem, and birieden hym in his sepulcre; and the puple of the lond took Joachaz, sone of Josias, and anoyntiden hym, and maden hym kyng for his fadir.
31 Giô-a-cha được hai mươi ba tuổi khi lên làm vua; người cai trị ba tháng tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ người tên là Ha-mu-ta, con gái của Giê-rê-mi ở Líp-na.
Joachaz was of thre and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede thre monethis in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Amychal, douyter of Jeremye of Lobna.
32 Người làm điều ác trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, theo trọn gương của các tổ phụ mình đã làm.
And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
33 Pha-ra-ôn Nê-cô bắt giam người tại Ríp-la, trong xứ Ha-mát, hầu cho người không cai trị tại Giê-ru-sa-lem nữa. Lại, người bắt xứ tiến cống một trăm ta lâng bạc và một ta lâng vàng.
And Farao Nechao boond hym in Reblatha, which is in the lond of Emath, that he schulde not regne in Jerusalem; and he settide `peyne, ether raunsum, to the lond, in an hundrid talentis of siluer, and in a talent of gold.
34 Đoạn, Pha-ra-ôn Nê-cô lập Ê-li-a-kim, con trai Giô-si-a, làm vua thế cho Giô-si-a, cha người, và cải tên người là Giê-hô-gia-kim. Còn Giô-a-cha bị bắt làm phu tù tại Ê-díp-tô, và người qua đời tại đó.
And Farao Nechao made kyng Eliachim, sone of Josias, for Josias, his fadir; and he turnede the name of hym Joachym; forsothe Farao took Joachaz, and ledde hym in to Egipt.
35 Giê-hô-gia-kim nộp cho Pha-ra-ôn những bạc và vàng ấy. Nhưng để lo cho có số tiền Pha-ra-ôn đòi, thì người phải đánh thuế dân của xứ; người định thuế vàng bạc mỗi người phải giữ đóng; đoạn người giao hết cho Pha-ra-ôn Nê-cô.
Sotheli Joachym yaf siluer and gold to Farao, whanne he hadde comaundid to the lond bi alle yeeris, that it schulde be brouyt, bi the comaundement of Farao; and he reiside of ech man bi hise myytis bothe siluer and gold, of the puple of the lond, that he schulde yyue to Pharao Nechao.
36 Giê-hô-gia-kim được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi lên làm vua, và người cai trị mười một năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ người tên là Xê-bụt-đa, con gái Phê-đa-gia ở Ru-ma.
Joachym was of fyue and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede eleuene yeer in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Zebida, douyter of Phadaia of Ruma.
37 Người làm điều ác tại trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, theo trọn gương các tổ phụ mình đã làm.
And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
