I Sa-mu-ên 13
1 Khi Sau-lơ lên ngôi vua, thì đã được bốn mươi tuổi. Người đã cai trị trên Y-sơ-ra-ên hai năm,
Saul was a child of o yeer whanne he bigan to regne; forsothe he regnede on Israel twei yeer.
2 bèn chọn ba ngàn người Y-sơ-ra-ên: hai ngàn người đặng ở cùng mình tại Mích-ma và trên núi Bê-tên, còn một ngàn người thì ở với Giô-na-than tại Ghi-bê-a trong xứ Bên-gia-min. Dân sự còn lại, người cho về, ai nấy vào trong trại mình.
And Saul chees to hym thre thousynde of Israel, and twei thousynde weren with Saul in Machynas, in the hil of Bethel; forsothe a thousynde weren with Jonathas in Gabaath of Beniamyn; sotheli he sente ayen the tother puple ech man in to `hise tabernaclis.
3 Giô-na-than đánh đồn Phi-li-tin ở tại Ghê-ba. Dân Phi-li-tin hay điều đó; Sau-lơ hạ lịnh thổi kèn khắp xứ, mà rằng: Dân Hê-bơ-rơ khá nghe biết!
And Jonathas smoot the stacioun of Filisteis, that was in Gabaa. And whanne Filisteis hadden herd this, Saul sownede with a clarioun in al the lond, and seide, Ebreys here.
4 Vậy, cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đều hay rằng Sau-lơ đã đánh đồn Phi-li-tin và Y-sơ-ra-ên bị dân Phi-li-tin ghen ghét. Bấy giờ, dân sự bị nhóm hiệp lại bên Sau-lơ tại Ghinh-ganh.
And al Israel herde siche a fame, Saul smoot the stacioun of Filisteis; and Israel reiside hym silf ayens Filisteis; therfor the puple criede after Saul in Galgala.
5 Khi ấy, dân Phi-li-tin hiệp lại đặng đánh Y-sơ-ra-ên: chúng có ba vạn cỗ xe, sáu ngàn lính kỵ, và quân lính đông như cát trên bờ biển. Vậy, chúng nó đi lên, đóng trại tại Mích-ma, về hướng đông của Bết-A-ven.
And Filisteis weren gaderid to fiyte ayens Israel; `of Filisteis weren thretti thousynde of charis, and sixe thousynde of knyytis, and the tother comyn puple, as grauel `which is ful myche in the brynke of the see; and thei stieden, and settiden tentis in Machynas, at the eest of Bethauen.
6 Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên thấy mình nguy cấp vì bị chúng theo riết gần, bèn trốn ẩn trong hang đá, trong bụi bờ, trong gành đá, trong đồn lũy, và trong hầm hố.
And whanne men of Israel hadden seyn this, that thei weren set in streiytnesse, for the puple was turmentid, thei hidden hem silf in dennes, and in priuey places, and in stonys, and in dychis, and in cisternes.
7 Mấy người Hê-bơ-rơ sang qua sông Giô-đanh, đến xứ Gát và Ga-la-át. Song Sau-lơ còn ở lại tại Ghinh-ganh và hết thảy dân sự đi theo người đều run sợ.
Sotheli Ebreis passiden Jordan in to the lond of Gad and of Galaad. And whanne Saul was yit in Galgala, al the puple was aferd that suede hym.
8 Sau-lơ đợi bảy ngày, là k” của Sa-mu-ên đã định; song vì Sa-mu-ên không đến Ghinh-ganh, dân sự bèn tan đi.
And seuene daies he abood Samuel bi couenaunt, and Samuel cam not in to Galgala; and the puple yede a wei fro Saul.
9 Bấy giờ, Sau-lơ nói: Hãy đem đến cho ta của lễ thiêu và của lễ thù ân; rồi người dâng của lễ thiêu.
Therfor Saul seide, Brynge ye to me brent sacrifice, and pesible sacrifices; and he offride brent sacrifice.
10 Khi người dâng xong, kìa Sa-mu-ên bèn đến. Sau-lơ đi ra đón đặng chào người.
And whanne he hadde endid offrynge brent sacrifice, lo! Samuel cam; and Saul yede out ayens hym, to greete Samuel.
11 Nhưng Sa-mu-ên hỏi: Ngươi đã làm chi? Sau-lơ đáp rằng: Khi tôi thấy dân sự tan đi, ông không đến theo ngày đã định, và dân Phi-li-tin đã hiệp lại tại Mích-ma,
And Samuel spak to hym, What hast thou do? Saul answeride, For Y siy that the puple yede awei fro me, and thou camest not bi the daies of couenaunt; certis Filisteis weren gaderid in Machynas;
12 thì tôi nói rằng: Dân Phi-li-tin chắc sẽ hãm đánh tôi tại Ghinh-ganh, và tôi chưa cầu khẩn Đức Giê-hô-va. Vì vậy, tôi miễn cưỡng dâng của lễ thiêu.
Y seide, Now Filisteis schulen come doun to me in to Galgala, and Y haue not plesyd the face of the Lord; Y was compellid bi nede, and Y offryde brent sacrifice to the Lord.
13 Sa-mu-ên nói cùng Sau-lơ rằng: Ngươi thật có làm ngu dại, không vâng theo mạng lịnh của Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời ngươi đã truyền cho. Ví bằng có vâng theo, thì Đức Giê-hô-va ắt đã lập nước ngươi vững đời đời nơi Y-sơ-ra-ên;
And Samuel seide to Saul, Thou hast do folili, and thou `keptist not the heestis of thi Lord God, whiche he comaundide to thee; and if thou haddist not do this thing, riyt now the Lord hadde maad redi thi rewme on Israel with outen ende;
14 nhưng bây giờ, nước ngươi sẽ không bền lâu. Đức Giê-hô-va đã chọn lấy cho mình một người theo lòng Ngài, đặt người ấy làm trưởng của dân sự Ngài, bởi vì ngươi không giữ theo mạng lịnh của Đức Giê-hô-va.
but thi rewme schal not rise ferthere. The Lord hath souyt a man to hym silf after his herte; and the Lord comaundide to hym, that he schulde be duyk on his puple, for thou keptist not tho thingis whiche the Lord comaundide.
15 Đoạn, Sa-mu-ên đứng dậy, đi từ Ghinh-ganh đến Ghi-bê-a trong xứ Bên-gia-min, rồi Sau-lơ kiểm điểm dân ở cùng mình: có ước chừng sáu trăm người.
Forsothe Samuel roos, and stiede fro Galgala in to Gabaa of Beniamyn; and the `residue puplis stieden after Saul ayens the puple which fouyten ayens hem; and thei camen fro Galgala in to Gabaa, in the hil of Beniamyn. And Saul noumbride the puple, that weren foundun with hym as sixe hundrid men.
16 Sau-lơ và Giô-na-than, con trai người, cùng quân lính đi theo, đều đóng tại Ghi-bê-a trong xứ Bên-gia-min, còn dân Phi-li-tin hạ trại tại Mích-ma.
And Saul, and Jonathas his sone, and the puple that was foundun with hem, was in Gabaa of Beniamyn; forsothe Filisteis saten togidere in Machynas.
17 Từ trong dinh Phi-li-tin có một toán quân cướp phá đi ra, chia làm ba đội: đội này theo con đường Oùp-ra, đi về xứ Su-anh;
And thre cumpanyes yeden out of the `castels of Filisteis to take prey; o cumpany yede ayens the weie of Effraym to the lond of Saul;
18 đội kia noi con đường Bết-hô-rôn; còn đội thứ ba theo con đường ranh nằm trên trũng Sê-bô-im, về hướng đồng vắng.
sothely an other cumpeny entride bi the weie of Bethoron; forsothe the thridde cumpenye turnede it silf to the weie of the terme in the lond of Sabaa; and that terme neiyeth to the valey of Seboym ayens the deseert.
19 Vả, trong cả xứ Y-sơ-ra-ên không có thợ rèn, bởi vì dân Phi-li-tin đã nói rằng: Hãy cấm người Hê-bơ-rơ rèn gươm và giáo.
Forsothe `no smyyth of yrun was foundun in al the lond of Israel; for Filisteis `weren war, ether eschewiden, lest perauenture Ebreis maden a swerd ether a spere.
20 Hết thảy Y-sơ-ra-ên ai nấy đều đi xuống nơi Phi-li-tin đặng mướn rèn lưỡi cày, cuốc, rìu, và lưỡi hái mình;
Therfor al Israel yede doun to Filisteis, that ech man schulde scharpe his schar, and picoise, and ax, `and sarpe;
21 lại khi nào lưỡi cày, cuốc, chĩa ba, hay là rìu bị mẻ sứt, thì đi xuống đặng mài và sửa cái đót lại.
`and so alle egis weren bluntid `of scharris, and of picoisis, and of `forkis of thre teeth, and of axis, `til to a pricke to be amendid.
22 Nên trong ngày tranh chiến chẳng có gươm cũng không có giáo nơi tay của cả dân sự đi theo Sau-lơ và Giô-na-than; chỉ có cho Sau-lơ và Giô-na-than, là con trai người, dùng mà thôi.
And whanne the dai of batel cam, no swerd and spere was foundun in the hond of al the puple that was with Saul and Jonathas, outakun Saul, and Jonathas his sone.
23 Một đồn quân Phi-li-tin kéo ra đặng đón đèo Mích-ma.
Forsothe the stacioun of Filisteis yede out, that it schulde passe in to Machynas.
