1 Than ôi! vàng mờ tối, vàng ròng biến đổi dường nào! Ðá nơi thánh đổ ra nơi mọi góc đường phố!
How is the golde become so dimme? the most fine golde is changed, and the stones of the Sanctuarie are scattered in the corner of euery streete.
2 Các con trai của Si-ôn quí báu khác nào vàng ròng, Nay coi như bình đất sét là việc của tay thợ gốm làm!
The noble men of Zion coparable to fine golde, howe are they esteemed as earthen pitchers, euen the worke of the handes of the potter!
3 Chính các chó rừng còn đưa vú ra cho con nó đặng cho bú; Song con gái dân ta trở nên hung dữ như chim đà ở nơi đồng vắng.
Euen the dragons draw out the breastes, and giue sucke to their yong, but the daughter of my people is become cruell like the ostriches in the wildernesse.
4 Con mới đẻ khao khát lắm, lưỡi nó dính với cúa họng. Trẻ nhỏ đòi bánh chẳng ai bẻ cho.
The tongue of the sucking childe cleaueth to the roofe of his mouth for thirst: the yong children aske bread, but no man breaketh it vnto them.
5 Những người quen nếm mùi cao lương đơn chiếc trong các đường phố; Những kẻ dưỡng nuôi trong đồ điều đỏ, nay ôm lấy đống phân tro.
They that did feede delicately, perish in the streetes: they that were brought vp in skarlet, embrace the dongue.
6 Tội lỗi con gái dân ta lớn hơn tội lỗi Sô-đôm, Là thành bị đổ như trong giây phút, chẳng ai giơ tay ra trên nó.
For the iniquitie of the daughter of my people is become greater then the sinne of Sodom, that was destroyed as in a moment, and none pitched campes against her.
7 Các người sang trọng của nó tinh hơn tuyết, trắng hơn sữa. Nước da đỏ hồng hơn san hô, mình mẩy sáng ngời như bích ngọc.
Her Nazarites were purer then the snowe, and whiter then ye milke: they were more ruddie in bodie, then the redde precious stones; they were like polished saphir.
8 Nay mặt đen hơn than: chẳng ai nhận biết trong đường phố; Còn xương bọc lấy da; khô ran như khúc gỗ.
Nowe their visage is blacker then a cole: they can not knowe them in the streetes: their skinne cleaueth to their bones: it is withered like a stocke.
9 Những người bị gươm giết may hơn kẻ bị chết đói: Vì thiếu sản vật ngoài đồng, người lần lần hao mòn như bị đâm.
They that be slaine with the sword are better, then they that are killed with hunger: for they fade away as they were striken through for the fruites of the fielde.
10 Chính tay người đờn bà vẫn có lòng thương xót, nấu chín con cái mình, Dùng làm đồ ăn cho mình giữa khi con gái dân ta bị phá hại.
The hands of the pitifull women haue sodden their owne children, which were their meate in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 Ðức Giê-hô-va đã làm trọn sự giận của Ngài, đổ cơn thạnh nộ Ngài ra; Ngài đã đốt lửa tại Si-ôn, thiêu nuốt nền nó.
The Lord hath accomplished his indignation: he hath powred out his fierce wrath, he hath kindled a fire in Zion, which hath deuoured the foundations thereof.
12 Các vua trên đất, cả dân cư thế gian, vốn chẳng ngờ Kẻ thù quân nghịch sẽ tràn vào các cửa thành Giê-ru-sa-lem.
The Kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world would not haue beleeued that the aduersarie and the enemie should haue entred into the gates of Ierusalem:
13 Ấy là vì cớ tội lỗi của các tiên tri nó, và sự gian ác của các thầy tế lễ nó. Họ đã đổ giữa nó huyết của người công bình.
For the sinnes of her Prophets, and the iniquities of her Priests, that haue shed the blood of the iust in the middes of her.
14 Họ đi quanh dọc đường như kẻ mù, bị máu làm ô uế, Ðến nỗi không ai có thể rờ đến áo xống họ.
They haue wandred as blinde men in the streetes, and they were polluted with blood, so that they would not touch their garments.
15 Người ta kêu bảo chúng rằng: Hãy xê ra, chẳng sạch. Hãy xê ra! xê ra! đừng rờ đến! Khi họ trốn tránh đi lưu lạc, dân ngoại kêu rằng: Chúng nó sẽ không trú ngụ ở đây nữa.
But they cried vnto them, Depart, ye polluted, depart, depart, touch not: therefore they fled away, and wandered: they haue sayd among the heathen, They shall no more dwell there.
16 Cơn giận Ðức Giê-hô-va đã làm tan lạc chúng, Ngài chẳng đoái xem nữa. Chúng nó chẳng nể mặt thầy tế lễ, cũng chẳng kính người già cả.
The anger of the Lord hath scattered them, he will no more regard them: they reuerenced not the face of the Priestes, nor had compassion of the Elders.
17 Mắt chúng ta mòn mỏi trông sự cứu luống công! Chúng ta trông đợi hướng về một dân không thể cứu.
Whiles we waited for our vaine helpe, our eyes failed: for in our waiting we looked for a nation that could not saue vs.
18 Chúng nó dòm ngó chơn chúng ta, đến nỗi chúng ta không bước ra nơi đường phố. Sự cuối cùng chúng ta đã gần! Ngày chúng ta đã trọn! phải, sự cuối cùng chúng ta đã đến!
They hunt our steppes that we cannot goe in our streetes: our ende is neere, our dayes are fulfilled, for our ende is come.
19 Kẻ đuổi theo chúng ta thật lẹ hơn con chim ưng trên trời. Ðuổi theo chúng ta trên các núi, rình rập chúng ta trong đồng vắng.
Our persecuters are swifter then the eagles of the heauen: they pursued vs vpon the mountaines, and layed waite for vs in the wildernes.
20 Hơi thở của mũi chúng ta, tức là kẻ chịu xức dầu của Ðức Giê-hô-va, thì đã mắc bẫy rồi, Về người, chúng ta thường nói rằng: Chúng ta nấp dưới bóng người mà sống giữa các nước.
The breath of our nostrels, the Anoynted of the Lord was taken in their nets, of whome we sayde, Vnder his shadowe we shalbe preserued aliue among the heathen.
21 Hỡi con gái Ê-đôm, ở đất Uùt-xơ! Hãy vui mừng hớn hở, Cái chén cũng sẽ trao đến mầy, mầy sẽ say mê và trần truồng.
Reioyce and be glad, O daughter Edom, that dwellest in the lande of Vz, the cuppe also shall passe through vnto thee: thou shalt be drunken and vomit.
22 Hỡi con gái Si-ôn, sự phạt tội lỗi mầy đã trọn, Ngài không đày mầy đi làm phu tù nữa! Hỡi con gái Ê-đôm, Ngài sẽ thăm phạt tội mầy; phô bày gian ác mầy!
Thy punishment is accomplished, O daughter Zion: he will no more carie thee away into captiuitie, but he will visite thine iniquitie, O daughter Edom, he wil discouer thy sinnes.
