1 Nầy là các dân tộc mà Ðức Giê-hô-va để còn lại, đặng dùng chúng nó thử thách người Y-sơ-ra-ên nào chưa từng thấy những chiến trận Ca-na-an.
These ben the folkis whiche the Lord lefte, that in hem he schulde teche Israel, and alle men that knewen not the batels of Cananeis;
2 Ngài chỉ muốn thử thách các dòng dõi mới của dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, tập cho chúng nó việc chiến trận, nhứt là những kẻ chưa từng thấy chiến trận khi trước.
and that aftirward `the sones of hem schulden lerne to fiyte with enemyes,
3 Các dân tộc nầy là dân Phi-li-tin cùng năm vua chúng nó, hết thảy dân Ca-na-an, dân Si-đôn, và dân Hê-vít ở tại núi Li-ban, từ núi Ba-anh-Hẹt-môn cho đến cửa Ha-mát.
and to haue custom of batel He lefte fyue princes of Filistees, and al Cananei, and the puple of Sidon, and Euey that dwelliden in the hil Liban, fro the hil Baal Hermon `til to the entryng of Emath.
4 Ðức Giê-hô-va dùng các dân tộc nầy để thử thách Y-sơ-ra-ên, đặng xem thử chúng nó có ý vâng theo các điều răn mà Ngài cậy Môi-se truyền cho tổ phụ chúng nó chăng.
And he lefte hem, that in hem he schulde asaie Israel, whethir thei wolden here the `heestis of the Lord, whiche he comaundide to her fadris bi the hond of Moises, ethir nai.
5 Như vậy, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ở chung cùng dân Ca-na-an, dân Hê-tít, dân A-mô-rít, dân Phê-rê-sít, dân Hê-vít, dân Giê-bu-sít,
And so the sones of Israel dwelliden in the myddis of Cananei, of Ethei, and of Ammorrei, and of Feresei, and of Euey,
6 cưới con gái của chúng nó làm vợ, gả con gái mình cho con trai chúng nó, và hầu việc các thần chúng nó.
and of Jebusey, and weddiden wyues, the douytris of hem; and the sones of Israel yauen her douytris to `the sones of hem, and serueden `the goddis of hem.
7 Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên còn làm điều ác trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va, quên Giê-hô-va Ðức Chúa Trời mình, cúng thờ các hình tượng Ba-anh và A-sê-ra.
And the sones of Israel diden yuel in the `siyt of the Lord, and foryaten her Lord God, and serueden Baalym, and Astaroth.
8 Vì vậy, cơn thạnh nộ của Ðức Giê-hô-va nổi phừng cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên, Ngài phó chúng vào tay Cu-san-Ri-sa-tha-im, vua nước Mê-sô-bô-ta-mi. Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên bị tám năm phục dịch vua Cu-san-Ri-sa-tha-im.
And the Lord was wrooth ayens Israel, and bitook hem in to the hondis of Cusanrasathaym, kyng of Mesopotanye, and thei serueden hym eiyte yeer.
9 Kế ấy, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên kêu la cùng Ðức Giê-hô-va; Ðức Giê-hô-va bèn dấy lên cho chúng nó một người giải cứu, là Oát-ni-ên, con trai của Kê-na, em thứ của Ca-lép, và người ấy giải cứu họ.
And thei crieden to the Lord, and he reiside to hem a sauyour, and delyuerede hem, that is, Othonyel, sone of Ceneth, `the lesse brothir of Caleph.
10 Thần của Ðức Giê-hô-va cảm động người, người đoán xét Y-sơ-ra-ên, và đi ra chiến trận. Ðức Giê-hô-va phó Cu-san-Ri-sa-tha-im, vua A-ram, vào tay người, khiến cho người thắng Cu-san-Ri-sa-tha-im.
And the spirit of the Lord was in hym, and he demyde Israel. And he yede out to batel, and the Lord bitook in to hise hondis Cusanrathaym, kyng of Sirie; and Othonyel oppresside hym.
11 Xứ được hòa bình trong bốn mươi năm; kế đó, Oát-ni-ên, con trai Kê-na, qua đời.
And the lond restide fourti yeer; and Othonyel, sone of Ceneth, diede.
12 Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên lại làm điều ác trước mặt Ðức Giê-hô-va; nên Ðức Giê-hô-va khiến Éc-lôn, vua Mô-áp trở nên cường thạnh để hãm đánh Y-sơ-ra-ên.
Forsothe the sones of Israel addiden to do yuel in the `siyt of the Lord; and he coumfortide ayens hem Eglon, the kyng of Moab, for `thei diden yuel in the `siyt of the Lord.
13 Vậy, Éc-lôn nhóm hiệp chung quanh mình dân Am-môn và dân A-ma-léc, kéo đi đánh Y-sơ-ra-ên và chiếm lấy thành Cây chà là.
And the Lord couplide to hym the sones of Amon and Amalech; and he yede, and smoot Israel, and hadde in possessioun the citee of Palmes.
14 Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên bị phục dịch Éc-lôn, vua Mô-áp, trong mười tám năm.
And the sones of Israel serueden Eglon, kyng of Moab, eiytene yeer.
15 Ðoạn, dân Y-sơ-ra-ên kêu la cùng Ðức Giê-hô-va, Ðức Giê-hô-va dấy lên cho chúng một đấng giải cứu, là Ê-hút, con trai Ghê-ra, thuộc về chi phái Bên-gia-min, là người có tật thuận tay tả. Dân Y-sơ-ra-ên sai người đem lễ cống cho Éc-lôn, vua Mô-áp.
And aftirward thei crieden to the Lord; and he reiside to hem a sauyour, Aioth bi name, the sone of Gera, sone of Gemyny, which Aioth vside euer either hond for the riyt hond. And the sones of Israel senten bi him yiftis, `that is, tribute, to Eglon, kyng of Moab;
16 Ê-hút tự làm lấy một cây gươm hai lưỡi, dài một thước, và đeo theo trong mình áo nơi háng hữu.
which Aioth made to hym a swerd keruynge on euer either side, hauynge in the myddis a pomel of the lengthe of the pawm of an hond; and he was gird therwith vndir `the sai, `that is, a knyytis mentil, `in the riyt hipe.
17 Vậy, người đem dâng lễ cống cho Éc-lôn, vua Mô-áp, là một người rất mập.
And he brouyte yiftis to Eglon, the kyng of Moab; forsothe Eglon was ful fat.
18 Khi dâng lễ cống rồi, bèn cho những kẻ đã đem lễ vật đến đi về.
And whanne he hadde youe yiftis to the kyng, he pursuede felowis that camen with hym; and he turnede ayen fro Galgalis,
19 Nhưng chánh người đến hầm lấy đá ở gần Ghinh-ganh, thì trở lại, nói rằng: Hỡi vua, tôi có một lời tâu kín cùng vua. Vua truyền: Hãy nín! Hết thảy những kẻ hầu cận vua bèn đi ra.
where idolis weren, and he seide to the kyng, A kyng, Y haue a priuei word to thee. And he comaundide silence. And whanne alle men weren goon out, that weren aboute hym, Aioth entride to hym;
20 Bấy giờ, vua đương ngồi một mình nơi lầu mát; Ê-hút đến gần mà nói rằng: Tôi có một lời của Ðức Chúa Trời tâu lại với vua. Éc-lôn vừa đứng dậy khỏi ngai;
forsothe he sat aloone in a somer parlour. And Aioth seide, Y haue the word of God to thee.
21 Ê-hút bèn giơ tay tả ra rút gươm đeo ở phía hữu, mà đâm người nơi bụng.
Which roos anoon fro the trone. And Aioth helde forth the left hond, and took the swerd fro his riyt hype; and he
22 Cán gươm cũng lút theo lưỡi, mỡ líp lại xung quanh lưỡi gươm; vì người không rút gươm ra khỏi bụng, nó thấu ra sau lưng.
fastnede in to the `wombe of the kyng so strongli, that the pomel, `ether hilte, suede the yrun in the wounde, and was holdun streite `in the thickeste fatnesse with ynne; and he drow not out the swerd, but so as he hadde smyte, he lefte in the bodi; and anoon bi the priuetees of kynde the tordis of the wombe braste out.
23 Ðoạn, Ê-hút lánh ra nơi hiên cửa, đóng các cửa lầu mát lại và gài chốt.
Forsothe whanne the doris of the parlour weren closid moost diligentli, and fastned with lok,
24 Khi Ê-hút đi ra khỏi, các đầy tớ đến xem, thấy các cửa lầu mát đều đóng gài chốt, thì nói với nhau rằng: Hoặc vua đi ngơi trong lầu mát chăng.
Aioth yede out bi a posterne. And the `seruauntis of the king entriden, not in the parlour, but in the porche, and thei sien the doris of the parlour closid, and seiden, In hap he purgith the wombe in the somer parlour.
25 Chúng đợi rất lâu, đến đỗi hổ thẹn; song vì không thấy vua mở cửa phòng, bèn lấy chìa khóa và mở: kìa thấy chúa mình đã chết, nằm sải trên đất.
And thei abididen longe, til thei weren aschamed; and thei sien that no man openede, and thei token the keie, and thei openyden, and founden her lord liggynge deed in the erthe.
26 Trong khi chúng trì huởn, Ê-hút đã trốn qua khỏi các hầm đá, lánh đến Sê-ri-a.
Sotheli while thei weren disturblid, Aioth fledde out, and passide the place of idols, fro whennus he turnede ayen; and he cam in to Seirath.
27 Người vừa đến, bèn thổi kèn lên trong núi Ép-ra-im; dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đều cùng người xuống khỏi núi và chính người đi ở đầu hết.
And anoon he sownede with a clarioun in the hil of Effraym; and the sones of Israel camen doun with hym, and he yede in the frount.
28 Ê-hút nói cùng chúng rằng: Hãy theo ta, vì Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phó vào tay các ngươi dân Mô-áp, là kẻ thù nghịch các ngươi. Chúng đều theo người xuống chiếm cứ các chỗ cạn sông Giô-đanh, là đường đi đến Mô-áp, cấm không cho ai đi qua.
Which seide to hem, Sue ye me, for the Lord hath bitake oure enemyes, Moabitis, in to oure hondis. And thei camen doun after hym, and ocupieden the forthis of Jordan, that ledde ouer in to Moab.
29 Vậy, trong lúc đó dân Y-sơ-ra-ên đánh giết chừng mười ngàn người Mô-áp, thảy đều là tay mạnh mẽ, can đãm, không một ai thoát khỏi được.
And thei suffriden not ony man to passe, but thei smytiden Moabitis in that tyme aboute ten thousande, alle myyti men and stronge; no man of hem myyte ascape.
30 Trong ngày đó, dân Mô-áp bị phục dưới tay Y-sơ-ra-ên; xứ được hòa bình trong tám mươi năm.
And Moab was maad low in that dai vndur the hond of Israel, and the lond restide fourescoor yeer.
31 Sau Ê-hút, có Sam-ga, con trai của A-nát. Người dùng một cây đót bò mà đánh giết sáu trăm người Phi-li-tin, và cũng giải cứu Y-sơ-ra-ên.
Aftir hym was Samgar, the sone of Anath, that smoot of Filisteis sixe hundrid men with a schar; and he also defendide Israel.
