1 Ê-li-hu nói tiếp rằng:
Then continued Elihu, and said,
2 Xin hãy nhịn tôi một chút, tôi sẽ chỉ cho ông; Vì tôi còn những lời binh vực Ðức Chúa Trời.
Wait for me a little, and I will instruct thee; for [I have] still some words on God's behalf.
3 Tôi sẽ đem đến từ xa điều tôi hiểu biết, Và xưng tỏ sự công bình của Ðấng Tạo hóa tôi.
I will lift up my knowledge for him who is afar, and for my Maker will I obtain righteousness.
4 Quả hẳn các lời luận tôi chẳng phải giả dối; Ðấng vốn trọn vẹn về tri thức đương ở cùng ông.
For truly no falsehood is [in] my words: one that is upright in [his] opinions [dealeth now] with thee.
5 Kìa, Ðức Chúa Trời có quyền năng, không khinh bỉ ai; Trí huệ Ngài rất rộng lớn.
Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength of intellect.
6 Ngài chẳng bảo tồn mạng sống của kẻ gian ác, Nhưng xử đoán công bình cho kẻ khổ nạn.
He permitteth not the wicked to live; but he procureth justice for the afflicted.
7 Ngài chẳng xây mặt khỏi người công bình; Song Ngài khiến họ đồng ngồi cùng các vua trên ngôi mãi mãi, Và họ được cao trọng.
He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous; but [he placeth them] with kings on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.
8 Nếu họ phải mang xiềng xích, Và bị dây gian truân vấn vướng,
And if they be bound in fetters, and if they be entangled in the cords of affliction:
9 Thì Ngài chỉ tỏ cho họ công việc mình đã làm, Các tội lỗi và tánh hạnh kiêu ngạo của họ.
Then doth he tell them of their work, and of their transgressions, when they had become strong.
10 Ngài cũng mở lỗ tai của chúng cho nghe lời sửa dạy, Khuyên họ trở lại bỏ điều gian ác.
And he openeth thus their ear to correction, and saith that they should return from wrong-doing.
11 Nếu chúng vâng nghe và phục sự Ngài, Thì các ngày chúng sẽ được may mắn, Và những năm chúng được vui sướng.
If they hearken and serve [him], they will spend their days in happiness, and their years in pleasures.
12 Nhưng nếu họ không khứng nghe theo, ắt sẽ bị gươm giết mất, Và chết không hiểu biết gì.
But if they hearken not, they will pass away through the sword, and they will perish in want of knowledge.
13 Lòng giả hình tích chứa sự thạnh nộ; Khi Ðức Chúa Trời bắt xiềng chúng, chúng chẳng kêu cứu.
But the hypocrites in heart persevere in wrath; they will not offer entreaty when he bindeth them:
14 Chúng chết đương buổi thanh xuân; Ðời chúng bị hư mất trong bọn gian dâm.
Their soul will die in youth, and their life, among the incestuous.
15 Ðức Chúa Trời dùng sự hoạn nạn mà cứu kẻ bị hoạn nạn, Và nhờ sự hà hiếp mà mở lỗ tai của người.
He delivereth the afflicted through his affliction, and openeth through oppression his ear.
16 Ngài cũng chắc đã muốn dụ ông khỏi hoạn nạn, Ðặt ông nơi khoảng khoát, chẳng còn sự cực lòng; Còn các món ăn dọn nơi bàn ông, tất đều được đầy mỡ béo.
And also thee hath he incited away from the jaws of distress into a wide space, on the site of which there is no straitness; and what is set on thy table is full of fatness.
17 Nhưng ông đầy dẫy sự nghị luận của kẻ ác; Sự xét đoán và sự hình phạt chắc sẽ hãm bắt ông.
But if thou art full of the judgment of the wicked: [divine] judgment and decree will support each other.
18 Chớ để cơn giận giục ông chống cự cùng sự sửa phạt; Ðừng lầm lạc vì cớ giá bội thường lớn quá.
For there would be fury, If aught were to incite thee to utter an abundance [of rebellious words]; and the greatness of the infliction must not mislead thee.
19 Chớ thì sự giàu có ông và các thế lực của ông, Có thể cứu ông khỏi sự hoạn nạn sao?
Will he esteem thy riches? no, not gold ore, nor all the highest forces of strength.
20 Chớ ước ao đêm tối, Là lúc dân tộc bị cất đi khỏi chỗ mình.
Desire then not eagerly the night, when nations pass away in their place.
21 Khá giữ lấy mình, chớ xây về tội ác; Vì ấy là điều ông ưa chọn hơn sự hoạn nạn.
Take heed, turn not thyself to wrong-doing, so that thou wouldst choose this because of [thy] affliction.
22 Kìa, Ðức Chúa Trời dùng quyền năng mà làm việc cách cao cả, Có giáo sư nào giống như Ngài chăng?
Behold, God is exalted by his power: who is an instructer like him?
23 Ai có chỉ dạy cho Ngài biết con đường của Ngài? Và ai nói rằng: Chúa có làm quấy?
Who hath given him a charge concerning his way? or who hath ever said, Thou hast acted unjustly?
24 Hãy nhớ ngợi khen các công việc Chúa, Mà loài người thường có ca tụng.
Reflect, that thou shouldst magnify his work, which [other] men have beheld.
25 Mọi nguời đều đã ngoạn xem công việc ấy, Và loài người từ xa nhìn thấy nó.
All men have looked at it [with astonishment]; the mortal gazeth at it from afar.
26 Phải, Ðức Chúa Trời là cực đại, chúng ta không biết được Ngài; Số năm của Ngài thọ không ai kể xiết được.
Behold, God is great, and we comprehend him not, the number of his years can truly not be searched out.
27 Vì Ngài thâu hấp các giọt nước: Rồi từ sa mù giọt nước ấy bèn hóa ra mưa,
For he taketh away drops of water, which are purified into rain in his mist:
28 Ðám mây đổ mưa ấy ra, Nó từ giọt sa xuống rất nhiều trên loài người.
These drop down out of the skies; they distil upon the multitude of men.
29 ai có thể hiểu được cách mây giăng ra, Và tiếng lôi đình của nhà trại Ngài?
But [what man] can understand the outspreadings of the clouds? the tumult of his tabernacle?
30 Kìa, Chúa bủa ánh sáng ra chung quanh Ngài, Và che lấp đáy biển.
Behold, he spreadeth out over it his light, and covereth up the roots of the sea.
31 Vì nhờ những điều ấy Ngài xét đoán các dân tộc; Ngài ban cho lương thực nhiều.
For by means of them he judgeth nations, he giveth food in superfluity.
32 Ngài giấu sấm sét trong tay Ngài, Và truyền nó phải đánh nơi nào.
[His] hands he covereth with light; and he commandeth it to strike the one who striveth against him.
33 Tiếng sấm sét báo cáo việc Ngài, Và chính súc vật cũng đoán điềm dông mưa gần đến.
The noise of his storm telleth of it, yea, the cattle also, of the rising tempest.
