Giê-rê-mi-a 9
1 Ôi! ước gì đầu tôi là suối nước, mắt tôi là nguồn lụy! hầu cho tôi vì những kẻ bị giết của con gái dân ta mà khóc suốt ngày đêm.
If only my head could produce water, and my eyes be a fountain of tears! For I wish to weep day and night for those among the daughter of my people who have been killed.
2 Ôi! ước gì tôi có một cái quán khách bộ hành trong đồng vắng! để tôi được bỏ dân ta mà đi xa khỏi họ; vì họ thảy điều là kẻ tà dâm, ấy là một bọn quỉ trá.
If only someone would give me a place for travelers in the wilderness to stay, where I could go to abandon my people. If only I could leave them, since all of them are adulterers, a band of traitors!
3 Chúng nó giương lưỡi mình như cái cung, đặng phát lời dối trá ra. Chúng nó ở trong xứ là mạnh lớn, mà chẳng làm sự chơn thật; bởi chúng nó làm ác càng thêm ác, và chẳng nhìn biết ta, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.
Yahweh declares, “They tread on their bows of lies with their tongues, but it is not because of any faithfulness of theirs that they grow strong on the earth. They go from one wicked act to another. They do not know me.”
4 Ai nấy phải giữ gìn vì người lân cận mình, chớ tin cậy một người nào trong vòng anh em mình; vì mỗi người anh em sẽ lừa phỉnh anh em lắm, mỗi người lân cận đều đi dạo nói xấu.
Each of you, be on guard against your neighbor and do not trust in any brother. For every brother is certainly a deceiver, and every neighbor walks in slander.
5 Ai nấy gạt gẫm kẻ lân cận mình, chẳng nói sự chơn thật. Chúng nó luyện tập lưỡi mình mà nói dối, chăm chỉ làm điều ác.
Each man mocks his neighbor and does not speak the truth. Their tongues teach deceitful things. They are exhausted from committing iniquity.
6 Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Ngươi ăn ở giữa sự dối trá; ấy cũng vì cớ sự dối trá mà chúng nó chẳng khứng nhìn biết ta.
Your dwelling is in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me—this is Yahweh's declaration.”
7 Vậy nên Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân phán như vầy: Nầy, ta sẽ làm cho tan chảy và thử chúng nó; vì nếu chẳng vậy thì xử với con gái dân ta thể nào?
Yahweh of hosts says this, “See, I am about to refine them and test them, for what else can I do, because of what my people have done?
8 Lưỡi chúng nó là tên độc, hay buông lời dối trá. Ngoài miệng thì chúc bình an cho kẻ lân cận mình, mà trong lòng thì gài bẫy.
Their tongues are sharpened arrows; they speak unfaithful things. With their mouths they proclaim peace with their neighbors, but with their hearts they lie in wait for them.
9 Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Ta há chẳng thăm phạt chúng nó về mọi điều ấy sao? Thần ta há chẳng trả thù một nước dường ấy sao?
Should I not punish them because of these things—this is Yahweh's declaration— and should I not avenge myself on a nation that is like this?
10 Ta sẽ khóc lóc thở than về các núi, sẽ xướng bài ca sầu não về nội cỏ nơi đồng vắng, vì thảy đều bị đốt cháy, đến nỗi chẳng còn ai đi qua đó nữa. Tại đó chẳng còn nghe tiếng bầy súc vật, chim trời và loài thú đều trốn đi cả rồi.
I will sing a song of mourning and wailing for the mountains, and a funeral song will be sung for the meadows. For they are burned so no one can pass through them. They will not hear the sound of any cattle. The birds of the skies and the animals have all fled away.
11 Ta sẽ khiến Giê-ru-sa-lem thành đồng đổ nát, nơi ở của chó rừng; sẽ làm cho các thành của Giu-đa ra hoang vu không người ở.
So I will turn Jerusalem into piles of ruins, a hideout for jackals. I will make Judah's cities ruined places without inhabitants.”
12 Ai là người khôn ngoan đặng hiểu những sự nầy? và miệng Ðức Giê-hô-va nói cùng ai, để người báo tin? vì làm sao xứ nầy bị diệt bị cháy như đồng vắng, đến nỗi không ai qua lại?
What man is wise enough to understand this? To whom has the mouth of Yahweh spoken, and he will declare it? Why has the land perished and been destroyed like the wilderness that no one can pass through?
13 Ðức Giê-hô-va đáp rằng: Ấy là vì chúng nó bỏ luật pháp ta mà ta đã đặt cho; không vâng tiếng ta, và không bước theo.
Yahweh says, “It is because they have abandoned my law that I set before them, because they do not listen to my voice or walk by it.
14 Nhưng chúng nó bước theo sự cứng cỏi của lòng mình, theo các thần Ba-anh mà tổ phụ mình đã dạy.
It is because they have walked by their stubborn hearts and have followed the Baals as their fathers taught them to do.
15 Vậy nên, Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân, Ðức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên, phán như vầy: Nầy, ta sẽ cho dân nầy ăn ngải cứu, và cho uống mật đắng.
Therefore Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel, says this, 'See, I am about to make this people eat wormwood and drink poisonous water.
16 Ta sẽ làm cho chúng nó tan lạc trong các dân tộc mà chúng nó và tổ phụ mình chưa từng biết; ta sẽ sai gươm đuổi theo, cho đến chừng nào đã diệt chúng nó.
Then I will scatter them among the nations that they have not known, neither they nor their ancestors. I will send out a sword after them until I have completely destroyed them.'”
17 Ðức Giê-hô-va vạn quân phán như vầy: Hãy lo gọi những đờn bà hay khóc mướn, cho chúng nó đến; hãy gọi những người đờn bà rất khéo, cho chúng nó đến.
Yahweh of hosts says this, “Think about this: Summon funeral singers; let them come. Send out for women skilled at lamenting; let them come.
18 Chúng nó hãy vội vàng vì chúng ta rơi lụy, mí mắt chúng ta tràn nước ra!
Let them hurry and sing a mournful song over us, so our eyes may run with tears and our eyelids flow with water.
19 Vả, có tiếng phàn nàn nghe từ Si-ôn, rằng: Chúng ta bị hủy phá dường nào! Chúng ta bị xấu hổ lắm, vì chúng ta bỏ đất; vì họ đã phá đổ chỗ ở chúng ta!
For the sound of wailing is heard in Zion, 'How we are devastated. We are greatly ashamed, for we have abandoned the land since they tore down our houses.'
20 Hỡi các đờn bà, hãy nghe lời của Ðức Giê-hô-va, tai các ngươi hãy nghe lời miệng Ngài phán! Hãy dạy cho các con gái các ngươi bài ca vãn; mỗi người hãy dạy cho kẻ lân cận mình khóc than!
So you women, hear Yahweh's word; pay attention to the messages that come from his mouth. Then teach your daughters a mourning song, and each neighbor woman a funeral song.
21 Vì sự chết đã lên vào cửa sổ chúng ta, đã sấn vào trong cung chúng ta, giết con cái tại ngoài đường, và kẻ trai trẻ giữa chợ.
For death has come through our windows; it goes into our palaces. It destroys children from outside, and young men in the city squares.
22 Ngươi hãy bảo rằng: Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Thây người ta sẽ ngã xuống như phân đổ đồng ruộng, và như nắm lúa đổ ra sau lưng con gặt; chẳng ai sẽ lượm chúng nó lại!
Declare this, 'This is Yahweh's declaration—the corpses of men will fall like dung in the fields, and like grain stalks after the reapers, and there will be no one to gather them.'”
23 Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Người khôn chớ khoe sự khôn mình; người mạnh chớ khoe sự mạnh mình; người giàu chớ khoe sự giàu mình.
Yahweh says this, “Do not let the wise man take pride in his wisdom, or the warrior in his might. Do not let the wealthy man take pride in his riches.
24 Nhưng kẻ nào khoe, hãy khoe về trí khôn mình biết ta là Ðức Giê-hô-va, là Ðấng làm ra sự thương xót, chánh trực, và công bình trên đất; vì ta ưa thích những sự ấy, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán vậy.
For if a man takes pride in anything, let it be in this, that he has insight and knows me. For I am Yahweh, who acts with covenant loyalty, justice and righteousness on earth. For it is in these that I take pleasure —this is Yahweh's declaration.”
25 Ðức Giê-hô-va phán: Nầy, ngày đến, bấy giờ ta sẽ phạt mọi kẻ chịu cắt bì mà lòng chưa cắt bì:
“See, days are coming—this is Yahweh's declaration—when I will punish all the circumcised who are such only in their body.
26 tức là Ê-díp-tô, Giu-đa, Ê-đôm, con cháu Am-môn, Mô-áp, và hết thảy những dân cạo tóc màng tang và ở nơi đồng vắng. Vì mọi dân tộc đều không cắt bì, còn cả nhà Y-sơ-ra-ên chẳng cắt bì trong lòng.
I will punish Egypt and Judah, Edom, the people of Ammon, Moab, and all the people who cut the hair on their heads very short. For all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel has an uncircumcised heart.”
