Xê-pha-ni-a 1
1 Đây là sứ điệp Chúa Hằng Hữu truyền cho Sô-phô-ni, con Cút-si, cháu Ghê-đa-lia, chắt A-ma-ria, chít Ê-xê-chia, trong đời Vua Giô-si-a, con A-môn, trị vì nước Giu-đa.
The word of Jehovah that came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.
2 Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: “Ta sẽ quét sạch mọi thứ trên mặt đất.
I will utterly take away everything from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah:
3 Ta sẽ quét sạch người và súc vật. Ta sẽ quét sạch các loài chim trời, cá biển. Ta sẽ quét sạch người ác, và tiêu diệt loài người khỏi mặt đất,” Chúa Hằng Hữu phán vậy.
I will take away man and beast; I will take away the fowl of the heavens and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling-blocks with the wicked, and I will cut off mankind from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah.
4 “Ta sẽ đưa tay hại Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem. Ta sẽ tiêu diệt tàn tích của Ba-anh ra khỏi nơi này. Ta sẽ xóa sạch tên của những người thờ thần tượng và các thầy tế lễ tà thần.
And I will stretch forth my hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, the name of the Chemarim with the priests;
5 Vì những người quỳ trên mái nhà và thờ lạy muôn triệu ngôi sao. Những người miệng thì nói đi theo Chúa Hằng Hữu, nhưng lại phụng thờ thần Mô-lóc.
and them that bow down to the host of the heavens upon the housetops; and them that bow down to Jehovah, that swear by [him], and swear by Malcham;
6 Ta sẽ tận diệt những người thối lui không theo Ta. Cùng những người không còn tìm kiếm và cầu khẩn Chúa Hằng Hữu.”
and them that turn back from after Jehovah, and that do not seek Jehovah, nor inquire for him.
7 Hãy im lặng trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu Toàn Năng vì ngày xét đoán của Chúa Hằng Hữu gần đến. Chúa Hằng Hữu đã chỉ định sinh tế và biệt riêng những người Ngài gọi.
Be silent at the presence of the Lord Jehovah; for the day of Jehovah is at hand; for Jehovah hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath hallowed his guests.
8 Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: “Trong ngày dâng sinh tế, Ta sẽ hình phạt các nhà lãnh đạo, các hoàng tử Giu-đa và tất cả những ai mặc áo của người vô đạo.
And it shall come to pass in the day of Jehovah's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's sons, and all such as are clothed with foreign apparel.
9 Trong ngày ấy, Ta sẽ hình phạt những ai theo thói tục ngoại đạo, những người làm cho nhà của chủ mình đầy bạo hành và lừa gạt.”
And in that day will I punish all those that leap over the threshold, who fill their master's house with violence and deceit.
10 Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: “Trong ngày ấy, sẽ có tiếng kêu khóc từ Cửa Cá, tiếng gào tại Khu Mới của thành phố. Và tiếng đổ vỡ lớn trên các đồi núi.
And in that day, saith Jehovah, there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish-gate, and a howling from the second [quarter], and a great crashing from the hills.
11 Dân cư trong khu chợ, hãy than khóc vì tất cả con buôn đều bị tiêu diệt.
Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh; for all the people of Canaan are cut down, all they that are laden with silver are cut off.
12 Lúc ấy, Ta sẽ rọi đèn lục soát Giê-ru-sa-lem và phạt những người tự mãn trong cặn rượu. Chúng nghĩ rằng Chúa Hằng Hữu không ban phước cũng chẳng giáng họa.
And it shall come to pass at that time, [that] I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men that are settled on their lees, that say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil.
13 Tài sản chúng sẽ bị cướp phá, nhà cửa chúng bị bỏ hoang. Chúng xây nhà nhưng không được ở, trồng nho mà không được uống rượu.”
And their wealth shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation; and they shall build houses, and not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and not drink the wine thereof.
14 “Ngày vĩ đại của Chúa Hằng Hữu gần rồi, gần lắm. Ngày ấy đến rất nhanh. Nghe kìa! Tiếng kêu khóc trong ngày của Chúa thật cay đắng, với tiếng la hét của chiến sĩ.
The great day of Jehovah is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly. The voice of the day of Jehovah: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
15 Đó là ngày thịnh nộ của Chúa Hằng Hữu, ngày hoạn nạn và khốn cùng, ngày hủy phá và điêu tàn, ngày tối tăm và buồn thảm, ngày mây mù và bóng tối âm u,
That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of ruin and desolation, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and gross darkness,
16 đó là ngày tiếng kèn và tiếng hô tấn công. Đổ sập các thành kiên cố và tháp canh cao vút!
a day of the trumpet and alarm, against the fenced cities and against the high battlements.
17 Ta sẽ đem đến cho loài người sự khốn khổ. Chúng sẽ đi như người mù, vì phạm tội chống lại Chúa Hằng Hữu. Máu chúng sẽ đổ ra như bụi và thân thể chúng sẽ thối rữa trên đất.”
And I will bring distress upon men, and they shall walk like blind men; for they have sinned against Jehovah; and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as dung:
18 Cả đến bạc và vàng của chúng cũng không thể giải cứu chúng trong ngày thịnh nộ của Chúa Hằng Hữu. Cả thế giới sẽ bị thiêu rụi trong lửa ghen ấy, vì Ngài sẽ diệt sạch mọi người trên đất rất bất ngờ.
their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them, in the day of Jehovah's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for a full end, yea, a sudden [end], shall he make of all them that dwell in the land.
