Xê-ca-ri-a 7
1 Năm thứ tư đời Vua Đa-ri-út, vào ngày bốn tháng chín, tức tháng Kít-lêu, Xa-cha-ri lại nhận được một sứ điệp nữa từ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
And it happened, in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, on the fourth day of the ninth month, which is Kislev.
2 Lúc ấy, người thành Bê-tên sai một phái đoàn do Sa-rê-sê và Rê-ghem Mê-léc hướng dẫn đến Đền Thờ cầu xin Chúa Hằng Hữu gia ân huệ.
And Sharezer and Regemmelech, and the men who were with them, sent to the house of God, to entreat the face of the Lord,
3 Đồng thời để hỏi các tiên tri và các thầy tế lễ trong Đền Thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân: “Chúng tôi có nên tiếp tục kiêng ăn, khóc lóc trong tháng năm như chúng tôi vẫn thường làm không?”
to speak to the priests of the house of the Lord of hosts and to the prophets, saying: “Must there be weeping with me in the fifth month, and must I sanctify myself, as I have now done for many years?”
4 Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân truyền sứ điệp này cho tôi:
And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying:
5 “Hãy nói với mọi người và các thầy tế lễ như sau: ‘Khi các ngươi kiêng ăn, khóc lóc vào tháng năm, tháng bảy, trong suốt bảy mươi năm, có phải các ngươi thật sự vì Ta mà kiêng ăn không?
Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying: Although you may have fasted and mourned in the fifth and the seventh month for these seventy years, did you indeed keep a fast unto me?
6 Còn khi các ngươi ăn uống, không phải các ngươi đã vì mình mà ăn uống hay sao?
And when you did eat and drink, did you not eat for yourselves, and drink only for yourselves?
7 Các tiên tri của Chúa Hằng Hữu thời xưa đã cảnh cáo các ngươi điều đó, ngay trong khi Giê-ru-sa-lem, các thành phụ cận, đất miền nam, và miền đồng bằng còn được thịnh vượng, đông dân cư.’”
Are not these the words that the Lord has spoken by the hand of the former prophets, when Jerusalem was still inhabited, so that it would prosper, itself and the cities around it, and those inhabitants towards the South and in the plains?
8 Sau đó, Chúa Hằng Hữu truyền sứ điệp này cho Xa-cha-ri:
And the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying:
9 “Đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân phán: Phải xét xử công bằng, nhân từ và độ lượng với anh chị em mình.
Thus says the Lord of hosts, saying: Judge with true judgment, and act with mercy and compassion, each and every one with his brother.
10 Đừng áp bức người góa bụa, mồ côi, ngoại kiều, người nghèo nàn, và không được mưu hại anh chị em mình.
And do not find fault with the widow, and the orphan, and the newcomer, and the poor. And let not a man consider evil in his heart towards his brother.
11 Nhưng tổ tiên các người không vâng lời, cứ bướng bỉnh quay lưng, bịt tai để khỏi nghe lời Ta.
But they were not willing to pay attention, and they turned aside their shoulder to depart, and they pressed upon their ears, so that they would not hear.
12 Họ giữ lòng sắt đá để khỏi nghe theo luật pháp và lời Chúa Hằng Hữu do các tiên tri đời xưa truyền lại—các tiên tri này được Thần Linh của Ngài sai bảo. Vì thế, cơn thịnh nộ của Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân trút lên họ.
And they set their heart like the hardest stone, so that they would not hear the law and the words that the Lord of hosts has sent with his Spirit by the hand of the former prophets. And so a great indignation came from Lord of hosts.
13 Khi Ta kêu gọi, họ không lắng tai nghe; nên khi họ kêu cầu, Ta cũng không lắng tai nghe, Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân phán.
And it happened, just as he had spoken, and they did not pay attention. So then, they shall cry out, and I will not heed, says the Lord of hosts.
14 Họ bị Ta rải ra khắp các nước xa lạ như bị gió lốc cuốn đi. Đất họ thành ra hoang vu, không một bóng người. Đất lành này trở nên một vùng quạnh hiu.”
And I dispersed them throughout all the kingdoms that they did not know. And the land was left desolate behind them, so that no one was passing through or returning. And they made the desirable land into a deserted place.
