1 Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời báo ứng, ôi Đức Chúa Trời báo ứng, xin hiển lộ vinh quang Ngài!
O God of vengeances, Jehovah, God of vengeances, shine forth;
2 Xin trỗi dậy, lạy Thẩm Phán Tối Cao của thế gian. Xin ra tay báo trả người kiêu căng.
Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth, render the reward to the proud.
3 Bao lâu, lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu? Đến bao giờ người ác thôi đắc chí?
How long shall the wicked, O Jehovah, how long shall the wicked triumph?
4 Họ tuôn ra những lời xấc xược đến khi nào? Bao lâu những luận điệu khoe khoang mới chấm dứt?
[How long] shall they utter [and] speak insolence — all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?
5 Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, họ giẫm nát dân Chúa, giày đạp cơ nghiệp Chúa dưới gót chân.
They crush thy people, O Jehovah, and afflict thine inheritance;
6 Họ giết quả phụ và kiều dân, tàn sát đám trẻ con côi cút.
They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless,
7 Rồi tự nhủ: “Chúa Hằng Hữu có thấy đâu, Đức Chúa Trời của Gia-cốp có bao giờ để ý?”
And say, Jah will not see, neither will the God of Jacob regard [it].
8 Kẻ hung ác, hãy nghe đây và mở trí! Người điên rồ, hãy học điều khôn ngoan!
Understand, ye brutish among the people; and ye fools, when will ye be wise?
9 Đấng sáng tạo ra tai, chẳng lẽ không nghe? Đấng làm ra mắt, lẽ nào không thấy rõ?
He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see?
10 Đấng đoán phạt muôn dân, lẽ nào không trừng trị? Đấng hiểu biết mọi thứ lẽ nào không biết Ngài đang làm gì?
He that instructeth the nations, shall not he correct — he that teacheth man knowledge?
11 Chúa Hằng Hữu biết tư tưởng thầm kín của con người; Ngài biết bản chất nó chỉ là hư ảo!
Jehovah knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
12 Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, phước cho người được Ngài sửa dạy, và những ai được học luật pháp với Ngài.
Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Jah, and whom thou teachest out of thy law;
13 Ngài cho họ nghỉ ngơi sau những ngày hoạn nạn, cho đến khi huyệt người ác đã đào xong.
That thou mayest give him rest from the days of evil, until the pit be digged for the wicked.
14 Chúa Hằng Hữu không hề quên dân Chúa; Ngài cũng chẳng bao giờ bỏ cơ nghiệp Ngài.
For Jehovah will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance;
15 Vì công lý sẽ trở lại với người công chính, và tất cả người ngay sẽ theo chính đạo.
For judgment shall return unto righteousness, and all the upright in heart shall follow it.
16 Ai sẽ bảo vệ tôi khỏi tay bọn gian ác? Ai đứng lên vì tôi chống lại người dữ?
Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? who will stand for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Nếu Chúa Hằng Hữu không giúp tôi, thì linh hồn tôi đã phải câm nín.
If Jehovah had not been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.
18 Khi tôi kêu: “Con trượt ngã!” Thì tay nhân từ Chúa nâng đỡ tôi.
When I said, My foot slippeth, thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, held me up.
19 Khi lòng tôi trăm mối ngổn ngang, niềm an ủi Chúa là nguồn phấn khởi.
In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me thy comforts have delighted my soul.
20 Có thể nào Chúa liên kết với các lãnh đạo bất chính— ban luật lệ làm hại dân lành?
Shall the throne of wickedness be united to thee, which frameth mischief into a law?
21 Họ liên minh ám hại người công chính, và toa rập giết oan người vô tội.
They band together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
22 Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu là đồn lũy tôi; Đức Chúa Trời tôi là vầng đá, nơi tôi ẩn náu.
But Jehovah will be my high tower; and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 Đức Chúa Trời sẽ báo trả công việc ác họ làm. Ngài sẽ tiêu diệt họ vì mưu ác họ. Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta sẽ quét sạch người gian ác.
And he will bring upon them their iniquity, and will cut them off in their own evil: Jehovah our God will cut them off.
