1 (Thơ của gia đình Cô-ra, soạn cho nhạc trưởng, theo điệu Git-tít) Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân, nơi Chúa ngự đáng yêu biết bao.
Lord, you who are the Commander of the armies of angels, your temple is very beautiful!
2 Linh hồn con mong ước héo hon được vào các hành lang của Chúa Hằng Hữu. Với cả tâm hồn con lẫn thể xác, con sẽ cất tiếng ngợi tôn Đức Chúa Trời Hằng Sống.
I [SYN] would like to be there; Yahweh, I desire that very much [DOU]. With all of my inner being I sing joyfully to you, the all-powerful God.
3 Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân, Vua và Đức Chúa Trời của con! Ngay cả chim sẻ còn được chỗ ấm, chim yến kiếm được nơi làm tổ và đẻ trứng, nuôi con, tại một nơi gần bàn thờ của Chúa.
Even sparrows and swallows have built nests [near your temple, where you protect them] [DOU]; they take care of their young babies near the altars [where people offer sacrifices to] you, who are the commander of the armies of heaven, and my king and my God.
4 Phước hạnh thay cho ai được ở trong nhà Chúa, họ sẽ luôn ca ngợi Ngài mãi mãi.
(Happy are/You are pleased with) those who (live/continually worship) in your temple, constantly singing to praise you.
5 Phước cho ai có sức mạnh từ nơi Chúa Hằng Hữu, và tâm trí luôn nghĩ đến hành trình về Giê-ru-sa-lem.
Happy are those who [know that] you are the one who causes them to be strong, those who strongly desire to (make the trip/go) to Zion [Hill].
6 Khi đi qua Thung Lũng Khóc Lóc, họ biến nó thành những dòng suối mát. Mưa thu cũng phủ phước cho nó.
While they travel through the [dry] Baca Valley, [you cause] it to become a place where there are springs of water, where the rains (in the autumn/before the cold season) fill the valley with pools of water.
7 Họ càng đi sức lực càng gia tăng, cho đến khi mọi người đều ra mắt Đức Chúa Trời tại Si-ôn.
[As a result, those who travel through there] become stronger/refreshed [knowing that] they will appear in your presence (on Zion [Hill]/in Jerusalem).
8 Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời Vạn Quân, xin rủ nghe lời con cầu nguyện. Xin lắng nghe, ôi Đức Chúa Trời của Gia-cốp.
Yahweh, commander of the armies of heaven, listen to my prayer; God, who [is worshiped by us (descendants of] Jacob/Israeli people), hear [IDM] what I am saying!
9 Lạy Đức Chúa Trời, là tấm khiên che chở. Xin cúi nhìn gương mặt người Chúa xức dầu.
God, be kind to [IDM] our king, the one who protects us [MTY], the one whom you have chosen [MTY] [to rule us].
10 Một ngày trong sân hành lang Chúa, quý hơn nghìn ngày ở nơi khác! Con thà làm người gác cửa cho nhà Đức Chúa Trời con, còn hơn sống sung túc trong nhà của người gian ác.
[For me], spending one day in your temple is better than spending 1,000 days somewhere else; [standing] at the entrance to your temple, [ready to go inside], is better than living in the tents/homes where wicked [people live].
11 Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời là mặt trời và khiên thuẫn. Ngài ban ân huệ và vinh quang. Chúa Hằng Hữu không tiếc điều tốt lành cho những ai làm điều công chính.
Yahweh our God is [like] the sun [that shines on us] and [like] a shield [that protects us] [MET]; he is kind to [us] and honors [us]. Yahweh does not refuse to give any good thing/blessing to those who do what is right.
12 Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân, ai nương cậy Chúa đều được phước lành.
Yahweh, commander of the armies of heaven, (happy are/you are pleased with) those who trust in you!
