1 (Thơ của Đa-vít, soạn cho nhạc trưởng) Chúa Hằng Hữu ôi, Ngài đã tra xét lòng con và biết mọi thứ về con!
To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. O Lord, thou hast tried me and knowen me.
2 Chúa biết khi con ngồi hay đứng. Chúa thấu suốt tư tưởng con từ xa.
Thou knowest my sitting and my rising: thou vnderstandest my thought afarre off.
3 Chúa nhìn thấy lối con đi, và khi con nằm ngủ. Ngài biết rõ mọi việc con làm.
Thou compassest my pathes, and my lying downe, and art accustomed to all my wayes.
4 Lời con nói chưa ra khỏi miệng Ngài đã biết rồi, lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu.
For there is not a word in my tongue, but loe, thou knowest it wholy, O Lord.
5 Chúa che chở phía sau phía trước. Bàn tay của Ngài, Ngài đặt trên con.
Thou holdest mee straite behinde and before, and layest thine hand vpon me.
6 Tri thức của Ngài, con vô cùng kinh ngạc, vì quá cao siêu con không với tới.
Thy knowledge is too wonderfull for mee: it is so high that I cannot attaine vnto it.
7 Con sẽ đi đâu cho xa Thần Chúa! Con sẽ trốn đâu khỏi mặt Ngài?
Whither shall I goe from thy Spirite? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
If I ascende into heauen, thou art there: if I lye downe in hell, thou art there. (Sheol h7585)
9 Nếu con chắp cánh hừng đông, bay qua tận cùng biển cả,
Let mee take the winges of the morning, and dwell in the vttermost parts of the sea:
10 Chúa cũng đưa tay ra dẫn dắt, tay hữu Chúa vẫn nắm chặt lấy con.
Yet thither shall thine hand leade me, and thy right hand holde me.
11 Con có thể xin bóng tối che giấu con và ánh sáng chung quanh trở thành đêm tối—
If I say, Yet the darkenes shall hide me, euen the night shalbe light about me.
12 nhưng dù trong bóng tối, con cũng không thể giấu con khỏi Ngài. Với Chúa, đêm tối cũng sáng như ban ngày. Với Chúa đêm tối và ánh sáng đều như nhau.
Yea, the darkenes hideth not from thee: but the night shineth as the day: the darkenes and light are both alike.
13 Chúa tạo nên tâm thần con, dệt thành con trong lòng mẹ.
For thou hast possessed my reines: thou hast couered me in my mothers wombe.
14 Cảm tạ Chúa đã tạo nên con đáng sợ và lạ lùng! Công việc Chúa tuyệt diệu, con hoàn toàn biết rõ.
I will praise thee, for I am fearefully and wonderously made: marueilous are thy workes, and my soule knoweth it well.
15 Xương cốt hình hài con không giấu Chúa được, ngay từ khi con được tạo ra nơi kín đáo, được dệt thành trong nơi sâu của đất.
My bones are not hid from thee, though I was made in a secret place, and facioned beneath in the earth.
16 Mắt Chúa đã thấy con trước khi con sinh ra. Số các ngày định cho đời con Chúa đã ghi rõ khi chưa có ngày nào trong các ngày ấy.
Thine eyes did see me, when I was without forme: for in thy booke were all things written, which in continuance were facioned, when there was none of them before.
17 Lạy Đức Chúa Trời, đối với con, tư tưởng của Chúa thật quý báu. Không thể nào đếm được!
Howe deare therefore are thy thoughtes vnto me, O God! how great is ye summe of them!
18 Con miên man đếm không xuể, vì nhiều hơn cát! Lúc con tỉnh lại, Ngài vẫn ở với con!
If I should count them, they are moe then the sand: when I wake, I am still with thee.
19 Lạy Đức Chúa Trời, hẳn Chúa sẽ giết người gian ác! Bọn khát máu, hãy xa khỏi ta!
Oh that thou wouldest slay, O God, the wicked and bloody men, to whom I say, Depart ye from mee:
20 Lời quỷ quyệt, họ nhắc đến Chúa; kẻ thù Ngài nói lời dối gian.
Which speake wickedly of thee, and being thine enemies are lifted vp in vaine.
21 Chúa Hằng Hữu ôi, lẽ nào con không ghét người ghét Chúa? Lẽ nào con không ghê tởm người chống nghịch Ngài sao?
Doe not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and doe not I earnestly contend with those that rise vp against thee?
22 Con ghét họ thậm tệ, vì kẻ thù của Chúa là kẻ thù của con.
I hate them with an vnfained hatred, as they were mine vtter enemies.
23 Lạy Đức Chúa Trời, xin dò xét và biết lòng con; xin thử nghiệm và biết tư tưởng con.
Try mee, O God, and knowe mine heart: prooue me and know my thoughtes,
24 Xem lòng con có đường lối nào tà ác, xin dẫn con vào đường lối vĩnh sinh.
And consider if there be any way of wickednes in me, and leade me in the way for euer.
