Châm Ngôn 9
1 Khôn ngoan xây cất nhà mình; chạm bảy cột trụ.
Wisdom bildide an hous to him silf; he hewide out seuene pileris,
2 Giết chiên bò, pha rượu nho, chuẩn bị dọn tiệc lớn.
he offride his slayn sacrifices, he medlide wijn, and settide forth his table.
3 Khôn ngoan sai tớ gái mời mọi người đến dự. Từ các nơi cao của thành, sự khôn ngoan kêu gọi.
He sente hise handmaides, that thei schulden clepe to the tour; and to the wallis of the citee.
4 “Hãy đến cùng ta,” khôn ngoan mời người đơn sơ. Và nhắn với người ngu muội rằng:
If ony man is litil; come he to me. And wisdom spak to vnwise men,
5 “Cứ đến ăn bánh, và uống rượu ta pha.
Come ye, ete ye my breed; and drynke ye the wiyn, which Y haue medlid to you.
6 Bỏ đường lối dại khờ, thì con sẽ được sống; và bước đi trên đường thông sáng.”
Forsake ye yong childhed, and lyue ye; and go ye bi the weyes of prudence.
7 Ai quở người chế nhạo sẽ bị nhục nhã. Ai trách người độc ác sẽ mang nhuốc nhơ.
He that techith a scornere, doith wrong to him silf; and he that vndirnymmeth a wickid man, gendrith a wem to him silf.
8 Đừng quở người chế nhạo; vì họ sẽ ghét con. Nhưng khiển trách người khôn ngoan, thì con sẽ được yêu kính.
Nile thou vndirnyme a scornere; lest he hate thee. Vndirnyme thou a wise man; and he schal loue thee.
9 Hướng dẫn người khôn, họ sẽ thêm khôn. Dạy bảo người ngay, họ sẽ thêm hiểu biết.
Yyue thou occasioun to a wise man; and wisdom schal be encreessid to hym. Teche thou a iust man; and he schal haste to take.
10 Kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu là khởi đầu sự khôn ngoan. Hiểu biết Đấng Thánh, ấy cội nguồn tri thức.
The bigynnyng of wisdom is the dreed of the Lord; and prudence is the kunnyng of seyntis.
11 Nhờ sự khôn ngoan, ngày con thêm nhiều và tuổi đời con gia tăng.
For thi daies schulen be multiplied bi me; and yeeris of lijf schulen be encreessid to thee.
12 Nếu khôn ngoan, chính con được nhờ. Còn chế nhạo, riêng con gánh chịu.
If thou art wijs; thou schalt be to thi silf, and to thi neiyboris. Forsothe if thou art a scornere; thou aloone schalt bere yuel.
13 Đàn bà điên dại ăn nói sỗ sàng. Thiếu suy nghĩ và không hiểu biết.
A fonned womman, and ful of cry, and ful of vnleueful lustis, and that kan no thing outirli,
14 Nó ngồi trước cửa nhà, tại nơi góc đường đô thị.
sittith in the doris of hir hous, on a seete, in an hiy place of the cite;
15 Kêu gọi khách bộ hành, đang bận rộn qua lại.
to clepe men passinge bi the weie, and men goynge in her iournei.
16 “Hãy đến với tôi,” nó mời người đơn sơ. Và bảo người thiếu suy xét:
Who is a litil man `of wit; bowe he to me. And sche spak to a coward,
17 “Nước uống trộm thật ngọt ngào, bánh ăn vụng thật ngon thay!”
Watris of thefte ben swettere, and breed hid is swettere.
18 Người ấy chẳng biết nhà nó là mồ chôn người chết. Và khách nó mời đều ở nơi vực thẳm âm ty. (Sheol h7585)
And wiste not that giauntis ben there; and the gestis `of hir ben in the depthis of helle. Sotheli he that schal be applied, ether fastned, to hir; schal go doun to hellis. For whi he that goith awei fro hir; schal be saued. (Sheol h7585)
