1 Hãy lắng nghe tiếng Khôn Ngoan kêu gọi! Lắng nghe sự thông sáng lên tiếng!
Doth not, wisdom, cry aloud? and, understanding, send forth her voice?
2 Sự khôn ngoan ở trên các đỉnh cao, nơi các góc đường, và tại các giao lộ.
At the top of the high places above the way, at the place where paths meet, she taketh her stand:
3 Nơi cổng thành, đường vào đô thị, bên thềm cửa, khôn ngoan kêu lớn tiếng:
Beside the gates, at the entrance of the city, —at the going in of the openings, she shouteth: —
4 “Ta gọi ngươi, tất cả các ngươi! Ta gọi toàn thể loài người.
Unto you, O men, I call, and, my voice, is unto the sons of men;
5 Người đơn sơ nên hiểu lẽ khôn ngoan. Người dại phải có tâm sáng suốt.
Understand, ye simple ones, shrewdness, and, ye dullards understand sense;
6 Hãy lắng nghe! Ta có điều quan trọng nói với ngươi. Mọi điều ta nói là lẽ phải,
Hear, for, princely things, will I speak, and the opening of my lips shall be of equity;
7 miệng ta truyền chân lý, môi ta ghét gian tà.
For, faithfulness, shall my mouth softly utter, but, the abomination of my lips, shall be lawlessness;
8 Mọi lời ta đều ngay thật. Không có chút gian dối;
In righteousness, shall be all the sayings of my mouth, nothing therein, shall be crafty or perverse;
9 Người thông sáng hiểu ra ngay, người tri thức chấp nhận liền.
All of them, shall be plain, to them who would understand, and just, to such as would gain knowledge.
10 Đón nhận kiến thức, khuyên dạy ta, quý cho con hơn bắt được bạc vàng.
Receive my correction, and not silver, and knowledge, rather than choicest gold.
11 Vì khôn ngoan quý hơn hồng ngọc. Không bảo vật nào có thể sánh với nó.
For better is wisdom, than ornaments of coral, and, no delightful things, can equal her.
12 Ta, Khôn Ngoan, đi chung với trí phán đoán. Ta biết sự tri thức và thận trọng.
I, wisdom, inhabit shrewdness, —and, the knowledge of sagacious things, I gain.
13 Kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu thì ghét điều ác. Vì thế, ta ghét kiêu căng và ngạo ngược, lối ác và miệng gian tà.
The reverence of Yahweh, is to hate wickedness: pride, arrogance, and the way of wickedness; And a mouth of perverse things, do I hate.
14 Mưu lược và khôn khéo thuộc về ta. Ta thông sáng và đầy năng lực.
Mine, are counsel, and effective working, I, am understanding, mine, is valour:
15 Nhờ ta mà các vua cầm quyền, và những người cai trị ban sắc lệnh công bằng.
By me, kings reign, and dignitaries decree righteousness;
16 Nhờ ta, nhà cầm quyền chăn dân, và các quý tộc xét xử công chính.
By me, rulers govern, and nobles—all the righteous judges:
17 Ta yêu những người yêu ta. Ai sớm tìm kiếm ta hẳn sẽ gặp.
I love, them who love me, and, they who diligently seek me, find me:
18 Ta có giàu sang và tôn trọng, công chính, và thịnh vượng lâu dài.
Riches and honour, are with me, lordly wealth, and righteousness;
19 Bông trái ta quý hơn vàng mười, hoa lợi ta hơn bạc vàng nguyên chất.
Better is my fruit, than gold—yea fine gold, and mine increase, than choice silver;
20 Ta bước đi trong công chính, trên đường nẻo công bình.
In the way of righteousness, I march along, in the middle of the paths of justice:
21 Ta cho người yêu ta hưởng giàu sang. Ta sẽ cho kho báu người luôn đầy dẫy.
That I may cause them who love me to inherit substance, and, their treasuries, I may fill.
22 Chúa Hằng Hữu đã có ta từ buổi ban đầu, trước cả khi khai thiên lập địa.
Yahweh, had constituted me the beginning of his way, before his works, at the commencement of that time;
23 Ta hiện hữu, đời đời trong quá khứ, từ ban đầu, khi chưa có địa cầu.
At the outset of the ages, had I been established, in advance of the antiquities of the earth;
24 Ta hiện hữu khi chưa có đại dương vực thẳm, nước chưa tuôn từ nguồn suối mạch sông.
When there was no resounding deep, I had been brought forth, when there were no fountains, abounding with water;
25 Trước khi núi non được hình thành, đồi cao góp mặt, thì đã có ta—
Ere yet the mountains had been settled, before the hills, had I been brought forth;
26 trước khi Chúa dựng trời xanh và đồng ruộng cùng cao nguyên trùng điệp.
Or ever he had made the land and the wastes, or the top of the dry parts of the world:
27 Ta đã hiện diện, khi Chúa dựng trời xanh, khi Ngài đặt vòng tròn trên mặt biển.
When he prepared the heavens, there, was I! When he decreed a vault upon the face of the resounding deep;
28 Ta hiện diện khi Ngài giăng mây trời, đặt nguồn nước lớn dưới vực đại dương,
When he made firm the skies above, when the fountains of the resounding deep, waxed strong;
29 Ta hiện diện khi Ngài định giới ranh biển cả, ban lệnh cho nước không được tràn khỏi bờ. Và khi Ngài dựng nền của đất,
When he fixed for the sea its bound, that, the waters, should not go beyond his bidding, when he decreed the foundations of the earth: —
30 ta đã hiện diện bên Ngài, làm thợ cả. Với Chúa, ta là niềm vui hằng ngày, ta luôn hân hoan trước mặt Chúa.
Then became I beside him, a firm and sure worker, then became I filled with delight, day by day, exulting before him on every occasion;
31 Vui mừng trong thế giới địa đàng, với loài người, ta thích thú vô cùng.
Exulting in the fruitful land of his earth, Yea, my fulness of delight, was with the sons of men.
32 Cho nên các con hãy nghe ta, phước cho ai theo đường lối ta.
Now, therefore, ye sons, hearken to me, for how happy are they who, to my ways, pay regard!
33 Chịu dạy dỗ, sống khôn ngoan. Đừng từ chối lời giáo huấn.
Hear ye correction, and be wise, and do not neglect.
34 Phước cho người nghe lời ta, ngày ngày trông ngoài cổng, chờ đợi trước cửa nhà!
How happy the man that doth hearken to me, —keeping guard at my doors, day by day, watching at the posts of my gates;
35 Vì ai tìm ta thì được sự sống, và hưởng ân huệ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
For, he that findeth me, findeth life, and hath obtained favour from Yahweh;
36 Ai xúc phạm ta là tự hủy mình. Người ghét ta là yêu sự chết.”
But, he that misseth me, wrongeth his own soul, all who hate me, love death.
