Châm Ngôn 2
1 Con ơi, nếu con nghe lời ta dạy, và gìn giữ các mệnh lệnh ta.
My son, if thou wilt receive my sayings, and, my commandments, wilt treasure up by thee;
2 Lắng tai nghe điều khôn ngoan, và hướng lòng về điều thông sáng.
So that thou direct, unto wisdom, thine ear, bend thy heart, unto understanding;
3 Nếu con cầu xin sáng suốt, và khát khao hiểu biết.
Yea if, for understanding, thou cry aloud, for knowledge, utter thy voice;
4 Nếu con kiếm nó như bạc, tìm tòi nó như kho tàng giấu kín.
If thou seek her as silver, and, like hid treasure, thou search for her,
5 Lúc ấy, con sẽ am hiểu sự kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, và sẽ tìm được tri thức về Đức Chúa Trời.
Then, shalt thou understand the reverence of Yahweh, and, the knowledge of God, shalt thou find.
6 Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu ban khôn ngoan! Từ miệng Ngài ra điều tri thức và thông sáng.
For, Yahweh, giveth wisdom, out of his mouth, knowledge and understanding;
7 Chúa dành khôn ngoan thật cho người công chính. Ngài là thuẫn cho người làm điều ngay thật.
Yea he treasureth, for the upright, safety, A shield [is he] to them who walk in integrity,
8 Ngài bảo vệ con đường của công lý và che chở đường lối của các thánh Ngài.
To him that observeth the paths of justice, yea, the way of his men of lovingkindness, he doth guard.
9 Lúc ấy con sẽ hiểu công chính, công bình, và ngay thẳng, con sẽ biết mọi đường lối tốt đẹp.
Then, shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, and equity—every noble course.
10 Khi khôn ngoan vào lòng con, tri thức sẽ thỏa mãn tâm hồn.
When wisdom entereth thy heart, and, knowledge, to thy soul, is sweet,
11 Tính thận trọng bảo vệ con. Thông sáng gìn giữ con luôn.
Discretion, shall watch over thee, understanding, shall preserve thee: —
12 Khôn ngoan sẽ cứu con khỏi đường tà, và khỏi người nói lời gian trá.
To rescue thee from the way of the wrongful, from the man that speaketh perverse things;
13 Những người bỏ lối ngay thẳng mà đi theo đường tối tăm.
From them who forsake the paths of rectitude, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 Họ vui thích làm điều xấu, và ham mê sự đồi trụy của người ác.
Who rejoice to do wrong, exult in the perversities of the wrongful;
15 Lối họ quanh co, và họ lầm lạc trong đường mình.
Whose paths, are twisted, and they are tortuous in their tracks:
16 Khôn ngoan cứu con khỏi dâm phụ, khỏi đàn bà ngoại tình với lời quyến rũ.
To rescue thee, from the woman that is a stranger, from the female unknown, who with her speeches seduceth;
17 Ả đã lìa bỏ bạn đời của ả lúc thiếu thời và quên lời giao ước thiêng liêng trước Đức Chúa Trời.
Who forsaketh the friend of her youth, and, the covenant of her God, hath forgotten;
18 Nhà của ả đưa vào cõi chết; đường của ả dẫn đến âm ty,
For she hath appointed, unto death, her house, and unto the shades, her courses;
19 Ai đến với ả đều không trở về. Không ai tìm được nẻo của sự sống.
None who go in unto her, come back, neither attain they unto the paths of life:
20 Khôn ngoan giúp người lương thiện, gìn giữ lối người công chính.
To the end that thou walk in the way of good men, and, the paths of the righteous, that thou observe.
21 Vì người ngay thẳng sẽ sống trong xứ, và người trong sạch sẽ ở đó luôn.
For, the upright, shall abide on the earth, —and, the men of integrity, shall remain therein;
22 Nhưng người ác bị dứt khỏi mặt đất, người bất trung cũng sẽ bị nhổ đi.
But, the lawless, out of the earth, shall be cut off, and, traitors, shall they tear away therefrom.
