Châm Ngôn 12
1 Ai yêu kỷ luật yêu tri thức; ai ghét sửa dạy là người ngây ngô.
He that loveth correction, loveth knowledge, but, he that hateth reproof, is brutish.
2 Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước cho người ngay thẳng, nhưng đoán phạt người mưu đồ việc ác.
A good man, obtaineth favour from Yahweh, but, a man of wicked devices, will he condemn.
3 Gian ác không đem lại hạnh phước bền lâu, nhưng người công chính sẽ đâm rễ vững vàng.
A son of earth, shall not be established, by lawlessness, but, the root of the righteous, shall not be disturbed.
4 Vợ hiền đức là mão miện cho chồng, vợ gây xấu hổ làm chồng tàn cốt mục xương.
A virtuous woman, is the crown of her husband, but, a veritable decay in his bones, is she that causeth shame.
5 Người công chính giữ tâm tư hướng thiện; người ác gian nghĩ mưu kế gạt lừa.
The plans of the righteous, are just, but, the counsels of the lawless, are deceitful.
6 Lời người ác như cạm bẫy hại người, miệng người lành mở con đường giải thoát.
The words of the lawless, are—of lying in wait for blood, but, the mouth of the upright, shall deliver them.
7 Người ác bị lật đổ và tiêu tan, nhà người công chính luôn đứng vững vàng.
Overthrown are the lawless and they are not, but, the house of the righteous, shall stand.
8 Càng khôn càng được tiếng khen, người gian phải nhận lấy lời gièm chê.
In proportion to his prudence, is a man, to be praised, but, the perverse in heart, shall be an object of contempt.
9 Thà vô danh mà có người hầu người hạ, còn hơn vênh váo tự tôn mà thiếu thức ăn.
Better slighted, and have a servant, than to honour oneself, and come short of bread.
10 Người lành chăm lo cho gia súc mình, còn người ác dù tỏ ra yêu thương vẫn là ác.
A righteous man, regardeth the desire of his beast, but, the compassions of the lawless, are cruel.
11 Ai cày sâu cuốc bẩm thu hoạch nhiều hoa lợi, ai đuổi theo ảo mộng là người thiếu suy xét.
He that tilleth his land, shall be filled with food, but, he that runneth after worthless men, lacketh sense.
12 Người gian muốn đoạt cả vật đã chia cho đồng bọn, còn người công chính chỉ muốn giúp đỡ lẫn nhau.
A lawless man craveth the prey of the wicked, but, the root of the righteous, is enduring.
13 Người ác bị lời dối trá mình sập bẫy, người thiện nhờ ngay thật mà được thoát nguy.
By the transgression of the lips, is the wicked man, ensnared, but the righteous, cometh out of distress.
14 Miệng nói thật tạo ra nhiều phước hạnh, tay siêng năng đem lại lắm thỏa lòng.
Of the fruit of a man’s mouth, shall he be satisfied with good, and, the dealing of the hands of a son of earth, shall be paid back to him.
15 Người dại tự cho đường lối mình công chính, nhưng người khôn biết lắng nghe lời khuyên dạy.
The way of the foolish, is right in his own eyes, but, he that hearkeneth to counsel, is wise.
16 Người dại để lộ lòng giận dữ, người khôn giữ được bình tĩnh dù bị sỉ nhục.
A foolish man, on the [same] day, letteth his vexation be known, but, he that concealeth an affront, is prudent.
17 Nhân chứng thật nói ra lời ngay thẳng; nhân chứng gian chỉ lừa gạt mưu đồ.
He that whispereth faithfulness, declareth righteousness, but, a false witness, is a fraud.
18 Lời khinh suất đâm chém như gươm bén, lưỡi khôn ngoan chữa trị giống thuốc hay.
There is who babbleth, as with thrusts of a sword, but, the tongue of the wise, hath healing.
19 Môi chân thật sẽ lưu truyền mãi mãi, lưỡi điêu ngoa phút chốc đã qua rồi.
A lip that is faithful, shall be firm to futurity, but, only for a twinkling, is the tongue that is false.
20 Lòng dạ người mưu ác chứa đầy lừa dối; tâm can người giải hòa tràn ngập vui tươi.
Deceit, is in the heart of contrivers of mischief, but, to the counsellors of peace, shall be joy.
21 Hoạn nạn lánh xa người công chính, tai vạ tìm đến người gian tà.
Unseemly to the righteous, is any trouble, but, the lawless, are full of misfortune.
22 Chúa Hằng Hữu ghê tởm môi gian trá, người thành thật luôn được Chúa mến yêu.
An abomination to Yahweh, are lips that are false, but, he that dealeth faithfully, is his delight.
23 Người khôn chẳng khoe khoang tri thức, người khờ thường bộc lộ dại dột.
A prudent man, concealeth knowledge, but, the heart of dullards, proclaimeth folly.
24 Tay siêng năng sẽ nắm quyền cai trị, tay biếng lười sẽ chịu cảnh tôi đòi.
The hand of the diligent, shall bear rule, but, the indolent, shall come under tribute.
25 Lòng lo lắng làm người nản chí; lời nói lành phấn chấn tâm can.
When anxiety is in the heart of a man, one may bow him down, but, a good word, maketh him glad.
26 Người công chính cậy bạn làm cố vấn; người gian tà tự chọn nẻo hư vong.
The righteous man guideth his neighbour, but, the way of the lawless, leadeth them astray.
27 Người làm biếng không nấu nướng thịt mình săn được, nhưng tính siêng năng là gia tài quý báu của một người.
Indolence, roasteth not, his own game, but, the substance of a man, is precious, when he is diligent.
28 Đường công chính dẫn đến chốn vĩnh sinh, trên đường ấy tử thần không ló dạng.
In the way of righteousness, is life, and, in the path thereof, immortality,
