1 Cùng hồi hương với Xô-rô-ba-bên, con Sa-anh-thi-ên, và Giê-sua, có các thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi sau đây: Thầy Tế lễ Sê-ra-gia, Giê-rê-mi, E-xơ-ra,

Now these are the priests and the Levites who ascended with Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua: Seraiah, Jeremiah, Ezra,

2 A-ma-ria, Ma-lúc, Hát-túc,

Amariah, Malluch, Hattush,

3 Sê-ca-nia, Rê-hum, Mê-rê-mốt,

Shecaniah, Rehum, Meremoth,

4 Y-đô, Ghi-nê-thôn, A-bi-gia,

Iddo, Ginnethon, Abijah,

5 Mi-gia-min, Ma-a-đia, Binh-ga,

Mijamin, Maadiah, Bilgah,

6 Sê-ma-gia, Giô-gia-ríp, Giê-đa-gia,

Shemaiah, and Joiarib, Jedaiah, Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah.

7 Sa-lu, A-mốt, Hinh-kia, và Giê-đa-gia. Đó là các thầy tế lễ vào đời Giê-sua.

These were the leaders of the priests and of their brothers, in the days of Jeshua.

8 Người Lê-vi: Giê-sua, Bin-nui, Cát-mi-ên, Sê-rê-bia, Giu-đa, Mát-ta-nia, là người hướng dẫn việc ca hát cảm tạ Đức Chúa Trời.

And the Levites, Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, Mattaniah, they and their brothers were over the hymns,

9 Anh em họ là Bác-bu-kia và U-ni giúp họ trong khi thi hành chức vụ.

with Bakbukiah, as well as Hannai, and their brothers, each one in his office.

10 Giê-sua, thầy thượng tế, là cha Giô-gia-kim. Giô-gia-kim là cha Ê-li-a-síp. Ê-li-a-síp là cha Giô-gia-đa.

Now Jeshua conceived Joiakim, and Joiakim conceived Eliashib, and Eliashib conceived Joiada,

11 Giô-gia-đa là cha Giô-na-than. Giô-na-than là cha Gia-đua.

and Joiada conceived Jonathan, and Jonathan conceived Jaddua.

12 Vào đời Giô-gia-kim làm thầy thượng tế, có các trưởng họ sau đây làm thầy tế lễ: Mê-ra-gia, trưởng họ Sê-ra-gia. Ha-na-nia, trưởng họ Giê-rê-mi.

And in the days of Joiakim, the priests and the leaders of the families were: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;

13 Mê-su-lam, trưởng họ E-xơ-ra. Giô-ha-nan, trưởng họ A-ma-ria.

of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;

14 Giô-na-than, trưởng họ Mê-lu-ki. Giô-sép, trưởng họ Sê-ba-nia.

of Maluchi, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;

15 Át-na, trưởng họ Ha-rim, Hên-cai, trưởng họ Mê-ra-giốt,

of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;

16 Xa-cha-ri, trưởng họ Y-đô. Mê-su-lam, trưởng họ Ghi-nê-thôn.

of Adaiah, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;

17 Xiếc-ri, trưởng họ A-bi-gia. Phinh-tai, trưởng họ Min-gia-min và Mê-a-đia.

of Abijah, Zichri; of Mijamin and Moadiah, Piltai;

18 Sa-mua, trưởng họ Binh-ga. Giô-na-than, trưởng họ Sê-ma-gia

of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, Jehonathan;

19 Mát-tê-nai, trưởng họ Giô-gia-ríp. U-xi, trưởng họ Giê-đa-gia.

of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;

20 Ca-lai, trưởng họ Sa-lu. Ê-be, trưởng họ A-mốt.

of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;

21 Ha-sa-bia, trưởng họ Hinh-kia. Na-tha-na-ên, trưởng họ Giê-đa-gia.

of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethanel.

22 Các trưởng họ người Lê-vi đều được đăng ký vào đời Ê-li-a-síp, Giô-gia-đa, Giô-ha-nan, và Gia-đua; còn tên các thầy tế lễ được đăng ký vào đời Đa-ri-út, vua Ba Tư.

The Levites, in the days of Eliashib, and Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, and the priests, were written according to the leaders of the families, during the reign of Darius the Persian.

23 Sách Lịch Sử có ghi tên các trưởng tộc Lê-vi cho đến đời Giô-ha-nan, con cháu Ê-li-a-síp.

The sons of Levi, according to the leaders of the families, were written in the book of the words of those days, even to the days of Johanan, the son of Eliashib.

24 Những nhà lãnh đạo người Lê-vi thời ấy là Ha-sa-bia, Sê-rê-bia, và Giê-sua, con Cát-mi-ên. Những người Lê-vi khác giúp họ trong khi lo việc ca ngợi, cảm tạ Đức Chúa Trời theo thể lệ của Đa-vít, người Đức Chúa Trời đặt ra.

Now the leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua, the son of Kadmiel, and their brothers, in their turns, so that they would praise and confess, according to the precept of David, the man of God. And they served equally and in order.

25 Những người gác cổng phụ trách kho đền thờ là Mát-ta-nia, Bác-bu-kia, Áp-đia, Mê-su-lam, Thanh-môn và A-cúp.

Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were keepers of the gates and of the vestibules before the gates.

26 Những người này sống vào đời Giô-gia-kim, con Giê-sua, cháu Giô-xa-đác, và thời Nê-hê-mi làm tổng trấn, E-xơ-ra làm thầy tế lễ và văn sĩ.

These were in the days of Joiakim, the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah, the governor, and of Ezra, the priest and scribe.

27 Vào dịp khánh thành vách tường Giê-ru-sa-lem, người Lê-vi ở khắp nơi được mời về tham gia phần nghi lễ. Lễ khánh thành tổ chức trong tinh thần hân hoan, cảm tạ với tiếng ca hát, hòa với tiếng chập chõa, đàn hạc, và đàn lia.

Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, they sought the Levites from all their places, so that they might bring them to Jerusalem, and so that they might keep the dedication, and rejoice with thanksgiving, and with singing, and with cymbals, psalteries, and lyres.

28 Những anh em trong gia đình ca sĩ cũng từ các vùng phụ cận Giê-ru-sa-lem, từ giữa người Nê-tô-pha-tít,

Now the sons of the singing men were gathered from the plains surrounding Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophati,

29 từ Bết Ghinh-ganh, từ miền Ghê-ba và Ách-ma-vết (vì các ca sĩ đã dựng làng mạc chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem) trở về thành thánh.

and from the house of Gilgal, and from the regions of Geba and Azmaveth. For the singing men had built villages for themselves around Jerusalem.

30 Các thầy tế lễ người Lê-vi trước hết thanh tẩy chính mình, rồi thanh tẩy toàn dân, tẩy sạch các cổng và tường thành.

And the priests and the Levites were cleansed, and they cleansed the people, and the gates, and the wall.

31 Tôi đưa các nhà lãnh đạo Giu-đa lên trên vách thành, và chỉ định hai toán người dâng lời cảm tạ Chúa trong khi đi diễn hành trên thành: Toán thứ nhất đi về phía bên phải, tới Cổng Phân.

Then I caused the leaders of Judah to ascend the wall, and I appointed two great choirs to give praise. And they went to the right upon the wall, toward the dung gate.

32 Theo sau toán này có Giô-ha-nan và phân nửa số các nhà lãnh đạo Giu-đa,

And after them went Hoshaiah, and one half part of the leadership of Judah,

33 gồm A-xa-ria, E-xơ-ra, Mê-su-lam,

and Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,

34 Giu-đa, Bên-gia-min, Sê-ma-gia, Giê-rê-mi.

Judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah.

35 Cũng có mấy người con các thầy tế lễ thổi kèn đồng: Xa-cha-ri, con Giô-na-than, cháu Sê-ma-gia, chắt Mát-ta-nia, chút Mai-cai, chít Xác-cua; Xác-cua là con của A-sáp,

And some of the sons of the priests went forth with trumpets: Zachariah, the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph.

36 Sê-ma-gia, A-xa-rên, Mi-la-lai, Ghi-la-lai, Ma-ai, Na-tha-na-ên, Giu-đa, Ha-na-ni. Họ sử dụng nhạc khí của Đa-vít, người của Đức Chúa Trời, để lại. Có văn sĩ E-xơ-ra đi đầu những người này.

And his brothers, Shemaiah, and Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, and Judah, and Hanani, went forth with the canticles of David, the man of God. And Ezra, the scribe, was before them at the fountain gate.

37 Đến Cổng Suối, họ leo lên các nấc thang bên Thành Đa-vít, (vì tại đây, nơi gần nhà cũ của Đa-vít, tường thành cao vụt lên) để tới Cổng Nước phía đông.

And opposite them, they ascended by the steps of the city of David, at the ascent of the wall above the house of David, and as far as the water gate to the east.

38 Toán thứ hai đi về phía bên trái. Phân nửa số người còn lại cùng tôi đi theo họ. Toán này đi từ Tháp Lò đến Vách Rộng,

And the second choir of those who gave thanks went forth on the opposite side, and I went after them, and one half part of the people were upon the wall, and upon the tower of the furnaces, as far as the widest wall,

39 đi qua trên Cổng Ép-ra-im, Cổng Cũ, Cổng Cá, qua Tháp Ha-na-nên, Tháp Mê-a, Cổng Chiên, và dừng lại tại Cổng Ngục.

and above the gate of Ephraim, and above the ancient gate, and above the fish gate, and the tower of Hananel, and the tower of Hamath, and as far as the flock gate. And they stood still at the watch gate.

40 Cả hai toán cảm tạ rồi đến Đền Thờ của Đức Chúa Trời. Tôi và phân nửa số các nhà lãnh đạo với tôi cũng vậy.

And the two choirs of those who gave praise stood still at the house of God, with myself and one half part of the magistrates who were with me.

41 Các thầy tế lễ thổi kèn đồng gồm Ê-li-a-kim, Ma-a-xê-gia, Min-gia-min, Mai-cai, Ê-li-ô-ê-nai, Xa-cha-ri, và Ha-na-nia.

And the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Mijamin, Micaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, Hananiah, went forth with trumpets,

42 Các ca sĩ gồm Ma-a-xê-gia, Sê-ma-gia, Ê-lê-a-sa, U-xi, Giô-ha-nan, Manh-ki-gia, Ê-lam, và Ê-xe hát lớn tiếng theo sự hướng dẫn của Giê-ra-hia.

with Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers were singing clearly, and Jezrahiah was their foremost leader.

43 Hôm ấy, người ta dâng rất nhiều sinh tế vì Đức Chúa Trời làm cho mọi người hân hoan phấn khởi. Phụ nữ, trẻ em cũng hớn hở vui mừng. Từ Giê-ru-sa-lem tiếng reo vui vang đến tận miền xa.

And on that day, they immolated great sacrifices, and they rejoiced. For God had caused them to rejoice with great joy. And their wives and children also were glad. And the rejoicing of Jerusalem was heard from far away.

44 Trong ngày ấy, một số người được cử trông coi kho tàng, là nơi chứa các lễ vật dâng theo cách đưa lên, lễ vật đầu mùa, một phần mười. Họ đứng ra thu góp các lễ vật trên từ các trang trại, theo khoản luật quy định về phần của các thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi. Người Giu-đa hài lòng về sự phục vụ của những thầy tế lễ và người Lê-vi.

On that day also, they enrolled men over the storehouses of the treasury, for the libations, and for the first-fruits, and for the tithes, so that the leaders of the city might bring these in, by them, with proper thanksgiving, for the priests and the Levites. For Judah was rejoicing in the priests and the Levites who were assisting.

45 Người Giu-đa ý thức được giá trị công việc của các thầy tế lễ, người Lê-vi, họ phục vụ Đức Chúa Trời, và lo việc tẩy thanh theo lệ định của Đa-vít và Sa-lô-môn, cũng như công việc của các ca sĩ và người gác cổng.

And they kept the vigil of their God, and the vigil of expiation, with the singing men and the gatekeepers, in accord with the precept of David, and of Solomon, his son.

46 Đến thời Đa-vít và A-sáp mới bắt đầu có lệ cắt cử người điều khiển ban hát và soạn các bản nhạc ca ngợi, cảm tạ Đức Chúa Trời.

For in the days of David and Asaph, from the beginning, there were leaders appointed over the singers, to give praise in verses, and to confess to God.

47 Như vậy, vào thời Xô-rô-ba-bên và Nê-hê-mi, mọi người Ít-ra-ên đều đóng góp để cung cấp nhu yếu hằng ngày cho các ca sĩ và người gác cổng. Họ cũng đóng góp cho người Lê-vi và người Lê-vi chia phần cho các thầy tế lễ, là con cháu A-rôn.

And all of Israel, in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave portions to the singing men and to the gatekeepers, for each day, and they sanctified the Levites, and the Levites sanctified the sons of Aaron.
