Ma-thi-ơ 17
1 Sáu ngày sau, Chúa Giê-xu đem riêng Phi-e-rơ, Gia-cơ, và Giăng, em Gia-cơ lên một ngọn núi cao.
And, after six days, Jesus taketh with him, Peter and James and John his brother, and bringeth them up into a high mountain, apart;
2 Chúa hóa hình ngay trước mặt họ, gương mặt Chúa sáng rực như mặt trời, áo Ngài trắng như ánh sáng.
and was transformed before them, —and his face shone as the sun, and, his garments, became white as the light.
3 Thình lình Môi-se và Ê-li hiện ra thưa chuyện với Chúa Giê-xu.
And lo! there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, conversing with him.
4 Phi-e-rơ buột miệng: “Thưa Chúa, ở đây thật tuyệt! Nếu Chúa muốn, con sẽ dựng ba chiếc lều cho Chúa, Môi-se và Ê-li.”
And Peter, answering, said unto Jesus—Lord! it is, delightful, for us, to be here, —If thou wilt, I will make here three tents, for thee, one, and, for Moses, one, and, for Elijah, one.
5 Khi Phi-e-rơ đang nói, một đám mây sáng chói bao phủ mọi người, và từ trong mây có tiếng phán: “Đây là Con yêu dấu của Ta, làm hài lòng Ta hoàn toàn! Mọi người phải nghe lời Con.”
While yet he was speaking, lo! a brightly shining cloud, overshadowed them, and lo! a voice, out of the cloud, saying—This, is, my Son, the Beloved, in whom I delight, —Be hearkening to him.
6 Các môn đệ vô cùng kinh hãi, quỳ sấp mặt xuống đất.
And, hearing it, the disciples fell upon their face, and were caused to fear exceedingly.
7 Chúa Giê-xu đến bên cạnh sờ họ, phán: “Đứng dậy, đừng sợ hãi.”
And Jesus came near, and, touching them, said—Arise! and be not afraid.
8 Họ nhìn lên, chỉ còn thấy một mình Chúa Giê-xu.
And, lifting up their eyes, no one, saw they, save Jesus, himself, alone.
9 Lúc xuống núi, Chúa dặn họ: “Đừng thuật lại cho ai những việc các con vừa thấy, cho đến khi Con Người từ cõi chết sống lại.”
And, as they were coming down out of the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying—Unto no one, may ye tell the vision, until the Son of Man, from among the dead shall arise.
10 Các môn đệ hỏi: “Sao các thầy dạy luật quả quyết Ê-li phải đến trước Đấng Mết-si-a?”
And the disciples questioned him, saying—Why then do, the Scribes, say, that, Elijah, must needs come, first?
11 Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Ê-li đến trước để chuẩn bị mọi việc.
And, he, answering, said—Elijah, indeed, cometh, and will restored all things;
12 Nhưng Ta phán với các con, Ê-li đã đến rồi, nhưng chẳng ai nhìn nhận, lại còn bị nhiều người bạc đãi. Chính Con Người cũng sẽ chịu đau khổ dưới tay những người ấy.”
But, I say unto you—that, Elijah, just now, came, —and they recognised him not, but did with him, whatsoever they pleased: Thus, the Son of Man also, is destined to suffer by them.
13 Các môn đệ hiểu Chúa đang nói với họ về Giăng Báp-tít.
Then, perceived the disciples, that, concerning John the Immerser, he spake to them.
14 Dưới chân núi, một đoàn dân đông đang chờ đợi Chúa. Một người bước tới, quỳ xuống trước mặt Ngài:
And, when they came unto the multitude, there approached him a man, falling on his knees to him,
15 “Thưa Chúa, xin thương xót con trai tôi vì nó bị điên loạn, thường bị ngã vào lửa và rơi xuống nước, khốn khổ lắm!
and saying—Lord! have mercy upon my son, —because he is lunatic, and in a grievous condition; For, many times, falleth he into the fire, and, many times, into the water.
16 Tôi đã mang đến cho các môn đệ Chúa, nhưng họ không chữa được.”
And I brought him unto thy disciples, and they could not cure, him.
17 Chúa Giê-xu trách: “Những người ngoan cố hoài nghi kia, Ta phải ở với các anh bao lâu nữa? Phải chịu đựng các anh cho đến bao giờ? Đem ngay đứa bé lại đây!”
And Jesus, answering, said—O faithless and perverted generation! How long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to me, here.
18 Chúa quở trách quỷ. Quỷ liền ra khỏi đứa bé. Từ giờ đó, đứa bé được lành.
And Jesus rebuked it; and the demon came out of him, —and cured was the boy, from that hour.
19 Các môn đệ hỏi riêng Chúa Giê-xu: “Sao chúng con không đuổi quỷ ấy được?”
Then, the disciples, coming near, to Jesus, privately, said—Wherefore could, we, not cast it out?
20 Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Vì đức tin các con quá kém cỏi. Với đức tin bằng hạt cải, các con có thể bảo hòn núi này: ‘Dời đi chỗ khác,’ nó sẽ đi ngay. Chẳng có việc gì các con không làm được.
And, he, saith unto them—Because of your little faith. For, verily, I say unto you—If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say to this mountain, remove hence yonder; and it shall be removed, and, nothing, shall be impossible to you.
21 Nếu không cầu nguyện và kiêng ăn, các con không thể đuổi thứ quỷ này được.”
22 Một hôm, ở xứ Ga-li-lê, Chúa Giê-xu phán với các môn đệ: “Con Người sẽ bị phản bội, nộp vào tay người ta,
And, as they were being gathered together in Galilee, Jesus said unto them—The Son of Man is about to be delivered up into the hands of men;
23 họ sẽ giết Ngài, nhưng ba ngày sau, Ngài sẽ sống lại.” Và các môn đệ buồn bã lắm.
And they will slay him, and, on the third day, will he, arise. And they were grieved exceedingly.
24 Về đến thành Ca-bê-na-um, Phi-e-rơ bị các nhân viên thu thuế Đền Thờ gạn hỏi: “Thầy của anh có đóng thuế Đền Thờ không?”
And, when they came into Capernaum, they who, the half shekel, were receiving, came near unto Peter, and said, Your teacher, doth he not pay the half shekel?
25 Phi-e-rơ đáp: “Có chứ!” Rồi ông đi vào nhà. Nhưng vừa định thưa chuyện với Chúa, thì Ngài đã hỏi trước: “Con nghĩ sao, Phi-e-rơ? Các vua chúa đánh thuế con cái trong nhà hay người ngoài?”
He saith—Yea. And, coming into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, How, to thee, doth it seem, Simon? The kings of the earth, of whom receive they dues or tax? from their sons, or from the aliens?
26 Phi-e-rơ thưa: “Người ngoài!” Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Vậy con cái trong nhà khỏi đóng thuế!
And, when he said, From the aliens, Jesus said unto him, Well then, free, are the sons!
27 Nhưng chúng ta không muốn để người ta phiền lòng, bây giờ con hãy ra biển câu cá. Được con cá đầu tiên, con banh miệng nó sẽ thấy một đồng bạc. Con lấy đồng bạc đó đem đóng thuế cho Ta với con.”
But, that we may not cause them to stumble, go unto the sea, and cast in a hook, and, the first fish that cometh up, take, and, opening its mouth, thou shalt find a shekel, —that, take, and give to them for me and thee.
