1 Còn hai ngày nữa đến lễ Vượt Qua và lễ Bánh Không Men—các thầy trưởng tế và thầy dạy luật tìm cơ hội bắt giữ Chúa Giê-xu và bí mật giết.
BUT after two days was the Petscha of unleavened cakes: and the chief priests and the Sophree sought how with guile they might apprehend and kill him.
2 Họ cùng đồng ý: “Không làm trong ngày lễ Vượt Qua, để khỏi gây náo động trong dân chúng.”
And they said, Not on the festival, lest there be a commotion among the people.
3 Lúc ấy, Chúa Giê-xu đến nhà Si-môn, một người phong hủi tại Bê-tha-ni. Giữa bữa ăn, một phụ nữ bước vào, mang theo bình ngọc thạch đựng dầu cam tùng đắt tiền. Bà mở nắp đổ dầu trên đầu Ngài.
And when he was at Bethania in the house of Shemun the leper, as he reclined, there came a woman who had with her a vase of the balsam of the choicest nard of great prices; and she opened it, and poured it upon the head of Jeshu.
4 Có người trông thấy, tức giận bảo: “Thật phí của! Bình dầu thơm này rất quý giá!
But there were men of the disciples who were displeased among themselves, and said, Why make destruction of this balsam?
5 Sao bà không bán bình này giá hơn một năm tiền lương, và đem tiền ấy giúp người nghèo!” Rồi họ nặng lời quở trách bà.
for it could have been sold for more than three hundred dinoreen, and given to the poor. And they were angry with her.
6 Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu can thiệp: “Để mặc người, đừng la rầy! Người đã làm một việc tốt đẹp cho Ta.
But he, Jeshu, said, Let her alone; why do you trouble her? A good work hath she wrought upon me.
7 Các con luôn luôn gặp người nghèo, có thể giúp đỡ họ khi nào tùy ý, nhưng các con không ở bên Ta mãi.
For in all time you have the poor with you, and, when you will, you can do them good; but I am not at all time with you.
8 Người này đã hết sức cố gắng, xức dầu tẩm liệm thân Ta trước khi chôn cất.
(With) that which was hers she hath done this, and beforehand as for the funeral she hath anointed my body.
9 Ta cho các con biết, việc làm của người phụ nữ hôm nay sẽ được nhắc nhở ca tụng khắp thế giới, tại những nơi Phúc Âm được truyền bá.”
And Amen I say to you, That wheresoever my gospel shall be preached in the whole world, this also which she hath now done shall be told in memorial of her.
10 Sau đó, Giu-đa Ích-ca-ri-ốt, một trong mười hai sứ đồ, đến tiếp xúc với các thầy trưởng tế bàn mưu nộp Chúa Giê-xu cho họ.
But Jihuda Scarjuta, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests, to betray Jeshu to them:
11 Nghe Giu-đa đề nghị, họ rất mừng rỡ, hứa sẽ thưởng tiền. Vậy, Giu-đa lo tìm cơ hội nộp Chúa Giê-xu.
and they when they had heard rejoiced, and promised silver to give him. And he sought to him opportunity to betray him.
12 Ngày đầu của lễ Bánh Không Men, khi chiên con bị giết cho lễ Vượt Qua, các môn đệ đến hỏi Chúa: “Thầy muốn ăn lễ Vượt Qua tại đâu? Xin Thầy chỉ bảo để chúng con sửa soạn.”
And the first day of the unleavened bread, in which the Jihudoyee sacrifice the Petscha, the disciples say to him, Where wilt thou that we go to prepare for thee to eat the Petscha?
13 Chúa Giê-xu liền sai hai môn đệ đến Giê-ru-sa-lem và căn dặn: “Các con vào thành, sẽ gặp một người xách vò nước; người ấy đi đâu, cứ theo đó.
And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, Go to the city, and, observe, a man meeteth you bearing a vessel of waters. Go after him;
14 Khi vào nhà, các con nói với chủ nhà: ‘Thầy hỏi: Phòng dành riêng cho Ta và các môn đệ ăn lễ Vượt Qua ở đâu?’
and when he hath entered, say to the house-lord, Our Master saith, Where is the place of feasting, where I can eat with my disciples the Petscha?
15 Chủ nhà sẽ chỉ cho các con một phòng rộng trên lầu, trang bị đầy đủ. Các con cứ dọn tiệc tại đó.”
And, behold, he showeth you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
16 Hai môn đệ ra đi, gặp mọi điều đúng như lời Chúa dặn, và chuẩn bị lễ Vượt Qua.
And the disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had told them: and they prepared the Petscha.
17 Tối hôm đó, Chúa Giê-xu và mười hai sứ đồ cùng đến.
And when it was evening he came with his twelve.
18 Khi mọi người đang ngồi ăn, Chúa Giê-xu phán: “Ta quả quyết, một người trong các con sẽ phản Ta.”
And as they reclined and ate, Jeshu said to them, Amen I tell you, That one of you who eateth with me shall betray me.
19 Các môn đệ rất buồn bực, lần lượt hỏi: “Thưa Thầy, có phải con không?”
But they began to be sad, and said to him one, one, Is it I?
20 Chúa đáp: “Đó là một trong số mười hai người các con, là người đang nhúng bánh vào đĩa với Ta.
But he said to them, One of the twelve who dippeth with me in the dish.
21 Vì Con Người phải hy sinh như lời Thánh Kinh đã nói. Nhưng khốn cho kẻ phản Con Người, thà nó chẳng sinh ra còn hơn!”
And the Son of man goeth, as it is written concerning him; but woe to that man by whom is betrayed the Son of man! It had been better for that man if he had not been born.
22 Khi đang ăn, Chúa lấy bánh, cảm tạ Đức Chúa Trời rồi bẻ ra trao cho các môn đệ: “Đây là thân thể Ta, các con hãy lấy ăn!”
And while they were eating, Jeshu took bread, and blessed, and brake, and gave to them, and said to them, Take; this is my body.
23 Ngài cũng rót nước nho, cảm tạ rồi đưa cho các môn đệ cùng uống.
And he took the cup, and praised and blessed, and gave to them; and they drank of it, all of them.
24 Chúa giải thích: “Đây là máu Ta, máu đổ ra cho nhiều người, để ấn chứng giao ước mới giữa Đức Chúa Trời và nhân loại.
And he said to them, This is my blood of the new Covenant, which for many is shed.
25 Ta cho các con biết: Ta sẽ không uống nước nho này nữa cho đến ngày uống nước nho mới trong Nước của Đức Chúa Trời.”
Amen I say to you, That again I will not drink from the fruit of the vine till that day in which I will drink it newly in the kingdom of Aloha.
26 Hát thánh ca xong, Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ đi lên núi Ô-liu.
And they praised, and went forth to the mount of Olives.
27 Chúa Giê-xu nói với các môn đệ: “Các con sẽ lìa bỏ Ta như Thánh Kinh đã viết: ‘Ta sẽ đánh Người Chăn, và bầy chiên sẽ chạy tan tác.’
AND Jeshu said to them, All of you will be offended with me in this night: for it is written, I will strike the Shepherd, and scattered shall be his sheep.
28 Nhưng sau khi Ta sống lại từ cõi chết, Ta sẽ qua xứ Ga-li-lê trước để gặp các con tại đó.”
But when I have arisen, I go before you into Galila.
29 Phi-e-rơ thưa: “Con sẽ chẳng xa Thầy, dù mọi người bỏ chạy!”
Kipha saith to him, If all shall be offended with thee, yet I (will) not.
30 Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Ta quả quyết với con, Phi-e-rơ—đêm nay, trước khi gà gáy lần thứ hai, con sẽ chối Ta ba lần.”
Jeshu saith to him, Amen I tell thee, That thou, to-day, in this (very) night, before the cock shall crow, three times wilt deny me.
31 Nhưng Phi-e-rơ cam kết: “Con thà chết chứ không chối Thầy đâu!” Các môn đệ khác cũng đều quả quyết như thế.
But he the more said, If I shall die with thee, I will not deny thee, my Lord. And so also all of the disciples said.
32 Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ vào vườn ô-liu gọi là Ghết-sê-ma-nê, Ngài bảo họ: “Các con ngồi đây, trong khi Ta đi và cầu nguyện.”
And they came to the place which is called Gedsimon; and he said to his disciples, Sit here until I have prayed.
33 Chúa chỉ đem Phi-e-rơ, Gia-cơ, và Giăng theo Ngài. Từ lúc đó, Ngài cảm thấy bối rối, sầu não vô cùng.
And he took with him Kipha and Jacub and Juchanon, and began to be sorrowful and agonized.
34 Ngài nói: “Linh hồn Ta buồn rầu tột độ! Các con ở đây và thức canh với Ta.”
And he said to them, My soul is afflicted unto death; wait for me here, and be watchful.
35 Chúa đi một quãng, rồi quỳ sấp dưới đất, cầu xin cho giờ phút khủng khiếp đừng đến với Ngài nếu có thể được.
And he removed a little, and fell upon the earth, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36 Ngài cầu nguyện: “Thưa Cha, Cha có quyền làm mọi việc, xin cho Con khỏi uống chén này, nhưng xin theo ý Cha, chứ không theo ý Con.”
And he said, Father, my Father, thou canst (do) every thing, cause to pass from me this cup: but not my will, but thine.
37 Khi trở lại, Chúa thấy các môn đệ đang ngủ gục. Ngài gọi Phi-e-rơ: “Si-môn, con ngủ sao? Con không thức với Ta được một giờ sao?
And he came and found them sleeping: and he said to Kipha, Shemun, dost thou sleep? couldst thou not one hour watch?
38 Phải tỉnh thức và cầu nguyện để khỏi sa vào vòng cám dỗ. Vì tâm linh thật muốn, nhưng thể xác yếu đuối.”
Be wakeful and pray, that you enter not into temptation: the spirit is willing and ready, but the body is infirm.
39 Chúa Giê-xu lại đi và cầu xin như lần trước.
And he went again, prayed, and said that word.
40 Lần này quay lại, Chúa thấy các môn đệ vẫn ngủ, mắt nhắm nghiền, không đối đáp gì được.
And he turned again, came and found them sleeping, because their eyes were made heavy, and they knew not what to say to him.
41 Trở lại lần thứ ba, Chúa bảo họ: “Bây giờ các con vẫn còn ngủ sao? Đủ rồi! Đã đến lúc Con Người bị phản nộp vào tay bọn gian ác.
And he came three times (the third time), and said to them, Sleep on, and be at rest. The end approacheth, and the hour cometh, and, behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42 Đứng dậy, đi với Ta. Kìa, kẻ phản Ta đã tới!”
Arise, we will go; behold, he draweth nigh who betrayeth me.
43 Ngay khi Chúa Giê-xu đang nói, Giu-đa, một trong mười hai sứ đồ, xông đến. Theo sau là một toán người cầm gươm dao, gậy gộc, do các thầy trưởng tế, các thầy dạy luật, và các trưởng lão sai đến.
And while he was speaking, Jihuda Scarjuta, one of the twelve, came, and with him a multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the Sophree and the elders.
44 Tên phản Chúa đã ra ám hiệu: “Tôi hôn người nào, các anh cứ bắt dẫn đi!”
And the traitor who betrayed had given to them a sign, and said, He whom I shall kiss is He: take him carefully and lead him.
45 Vì vậy, vừa đến nơi, Giu-đa trân tráo xông lên chào Chúa: “Lạy Thầy!” Rồi nó hôn Chúa.
And immediately he approached, and said to him, Rabi, Rabi, and kissed him.
46 Bọn kia liền bắt giữ Chúa Giê-xu.
Then they laid on him their hands and seized him.
47 Nhưng có một người đứng gần đó rút gươm chém đầy tớ của thầy thượng tế, đứt mất một vành tai.
But one of those who stood drew a sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and took off his ear.
48 Chúa Giê-xu hỏi họ: “Ta đâu phải trộm cướp mà các ông đem gươm dao, gậy gộc đến bắt?
But Jeshu answered and said to them, As against a robber are you come out against me, with swords and with staves to apprehend me?
49 Hằng ngày Ta vẫn ở với các ông, giảng dạy trong Đền Thờ, sao các ông không bắt Ta? Nhưng những việc này xảy ra để làm ứng nghiệm lời tiên tri trong Thánh Kinh nói về Ta.”
Every day with you was I teaching in the temple, and ye did not take me; but to fulfil the scriptures this is done.
50 Tất cả môn đệ đều bỏ Chúa trốn biệt.
Then his disciples forsook him and fled.
51 Có một thanh niên đi theo Chúa, chỉ choàng trên người một tấm khăn. Toán người kia túm bắt anh,
But a certain youth followed him, and he was covered (with) a linen cloth, naked; and they laid hold on him:
52 nhưng anh buông tấm khăn, trần truồng chạy trốn.
but he left the linen cloth, and escaped naked.
53 Người ta giải Chúa Giê-xu đến dinh thầy thượng tế, nơi các thầy trưởng tế, các trưởng lão, và các thầy dạy luật đã họp mặt đông đủ.
And they led Jeshu to Kaiapha, chief of the priests: and were gathered together to him all the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
54 Phi-e-rơ theo sau Chúa xa xa, cho đến khi vào sân dinh thầy thượng tế. Ông ngồi chung với bọn tuần cảnh, sưởi ấm bên đống lửa.
But Shemun from afar came after him, until within the court of the chief of the priests: and he sat with the servants, and warmed (himself) at the fire.
55 Các thầy trưởng tế và cả Hội Đồng Quốc Gia tìm bằng chứng để ghép Chúa Giê-xu vào tội tử hình, nhưng không tìm được.
But the chief priests and all the assembly of them sought against Jeshu testimony to put him to death, but they found not.
56 Nhiều người vu cáo Chúa đủ điều, nhưng lời chứng của họ mâu thuẫn nhau.
For when many bore witness against him, their testimonies were not equal.
57 Sau đó, có người đứng lên làm chứng dối rằng:
But men rose up against him, witnesses of falsehood, and said,
58 “Chúng tôi nghe người này nói: ‘Ta sẽ phá nát Đền Thờ do con người xây cất, rồi trong ba ngày Ta sẽ dựng một Đền Thờ khác, không bởi tay con người.’”
We heard him say, I dissolve this temple which is made with hands, and in three days I build another not made with hands.
59 Ngay điểm này, lời tố cáo của họ cũng không phù hợp nhau.
But neither so was their testimony equal.
60 Thầy thượng tế đứng dậy giữa hội đồng và hỏi Chúa: “Sao? Anh trả lời thế nào về lời tố cáo đó?”
And the chief of the priests arose in the midst, and questioned Jeshu, and said, Returnest thou no answer? what witness against thee these?
61 Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu vẫn im lặng, không đáp một lời. Thầy thượng tế hỏi tiếp: “Anh có phải là Đấng Mết-si-a, Con của Đấng Phước Lành không?”
But Jeshu was silent, and answered him nothing. And again the chief of the priests demanded, and said, Art thou the Meshicha, the Son of the Blessed?
62 Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Phải, chính Ta. Rồi đây các ông sẽ thấy Con Người ngồi bên phải ngai của Đức Chúa Trời quyền năng, và cỡi mây trời trở lại trần gian.”
And he, Jeshu, said to him, I am: and you shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming upon the clouds of heaven.
63 Thầy thượng tế xé áo mình và nói: “Chúng ta cần gì nhân chứng nữa!
Then the chief of the priests tore his robe, and said, Why now seek we witnesses?
64 Quý Ngài vừa nghe tận tai lời phạm thượng. Vậy quý ngài quyết định thế nào?” Các lãnh tụ Do Thái đều đồng ý lên án tử hình Chúa Giê-xu.
Behold, from his own lips you have heard the blasphemy: how is it seen by you? And they all judged that he was guilty of death.
65 Người ta khạc nhổ vào mặt Chúa, bịt mắt Chúa, đánh đấm Ngài rồi nói: “Thử đoán xem, ai vừa đánh anh đó?” Bọn lính canh cũng vả vào mặt Ngài và giải đi.
And some began to spit on his person, and they struck him on his face, and did buffet him, saying, Prophesy! and the servitors struck him upon his cheeks.
66 Phi-e-rơ đang ở ngoài sân, một đầy tớ gái của thầy thượng tế bước đến,
And Shemun being below in the court, there came a certain damsel of the chief of the priests.
67 thấy ông đang ngồi sưởi, lại gần nhìn mặt rồi nói: “Anh cũng là đồ đệ của Giê-xu, người Na-xa-rét!”
She saw him as he warmed (himself), and knew him, saying to him, Thou also wast with Jeshu Natsroia.
68 Nhưng Phi-e-rơ chối: “Chị nói gì tôi không hiểu!” Rồi ông đi ra cổng liền có tiếng gà gáy.
But he denied, and said, I know not what thou sayest. And he went without into the vestibule; and the cock crew.
69 Chị đầy tớ nhìn thấy, báo cho những người đứng chung quanh: “Anh ấy theo phe Giê-xu đó!”
And again that damsel saw him, and she began to say to those who were standing, This man is also of them.
70 Phi-e-rơ liền chối một lần nữa. Một lát sau, những người đứng chung quanh tố Phi-e-rơ: “Đúng rồi! Anh cũng thuộc bọn Giê-xu, vì anh là người Ga-li-lê.”
But he again denied. And after a little while those who stood said to Kipha, Assuredly thou art from them, for thou art also a Galiloia, and thy speech is similar.
71 Phi-e-rơ liền thề độc: “Tôi không biết người mấy ông nói đó là ai cả! Nếu tôi dối, xin sự rủa sả giáng trên tôi.”
But he began to imprecate and to swear, I know not this man of whom thou speakest. And in the hour the cock crew the second time.
72 Vừa lúc ấy, gà gáy lần thứ hai. Phi-e-rơ sực nhớ lại lời Chúa Giê-xu: “Trước khi gà gáy lần thứ hai, con sẽ chối Ta ba lần!” Ông liền thổn thức khóc.
And Shemun remembered the word that Jeshu had spoken to him, That before the cock should crow twice, three times thou shalt deny me. And he began to weep.
