1 Phúc Âm của Chúa Giê-xu, Đấng Mết-si-a, Con Đức Chúa Trời, bắt đầu được công bố
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;
2 như nhà Tiên tri Y-sai đã viết: “Này, Ta sẽ sai sứ giả Ta đi trước Con, người sẽ dọn đường cho Con.
as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way.
3 Người là tiếng gọi nơi hoang dã: ‘Chuẩn bị cho đường Chúa Hằng Hữu đến! Dọn sạch đường chờ đón Ngài!’”
The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ready the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 Sứ giả đó là Giăng Báp-tít. Ông sống trong đồng hoang, rao giảng mọi người phải chịu báp-tem, để chứng tỏ lòng ăn năn tội lỗi, và quay về với Đức Chúa Trời để được tha tội.
John was immersing in the wilderness, and preaching the immersion of repentance in order to the remission of sins.
5 Dân chúng từ Giê-ru-sa-lem và khắp xứ Giu-đê lũ lượt kéo đến nghe Giăng giảng dạy. Sau khi họ xưng tội, Giăng làm báp-tem cho họ trong dòng sông Giô-đan.
And all the country of Judea and the inhabitants of Jerusalem went out to him, and were all immersed by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 Giăng mặc áo lông lạc đà, thắt dây lưng da, ăn châu chấu và mật ong rừng.
And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and had a girdle of leather around his loins, and he ate locusts and wild honey:
7 Giăng thường tuyên bố: “Có một Người đến sau tôi—cao quý hơn tôi vô cùng, chính tôi cũng không đáng hầu hạ Người hay mở dây giày cho Người.
and he preached, saying: There comes after me One mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.
8 Tôi chỉ làm báp-tem cho anh chị em bằng nước, nhưng Người sẽ làm báp-tem bằng Chúa Thánh Linh!”
I immerse you in water; but he will immerse you in the Holy Spirit.
9 Một hôm, Chúa Giê-xu từ Na-xa-rét xứ Ga-li-lê đến bờ sông Giô-đan nhờ Giăng làm báp-tem.
And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was immersed by John in the Jordan.
10 Ngay khi bước lên khỏi nước, Chúa thấy các tầng trời mở ra, và Chúa Thánh Linh giáng trên Ngài như bồ câu.
And immediately on coming up from the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him.
11 Có tiếng vang dội từ trời: “Con là Con yêu dấu của Ta, làm hài lòng Ta hoàn toàn.”
And there was a voice from the heavens: Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I delight.
12 Chúa Thánh Linh liền thúc giục Chúa Giê-xu vào hoang mạc xứ Giu-đê.
And immediately the Spirit compelled him to go forth into the wilderness.
13 Ngài ở đó một mình trong bốn mươi ngày cho Sa-tan cám dỗ. Chung quanh Ngài chỉ toàn là dã thú. Sau đó, các thiên sứ đến phục vụ Ngài.
And he was there in the wilderness forty days, to be tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered to him.
14 Sau khi Giăng bị tù, Chúa Giê-xu quay về xứ Ga-li-lê truyền giảng Phúc Âm của Đức Chúa Trời.
But after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 Ngài tuyên bố: “Thời kỳ đã đến, Nước của Đức Chúa Trời đã gần! Phải ăn năn tội lỗi và tin nhận Phúc Âm!”
and saying: The time has fully come, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe the gospel.
16 Một hôm đang đi dọc theo bờ biển Ga-li-lê, Chúa thấy hai anh em Si-môn và Anh-rê đang thả lưới đánh cá, vì họ làm nghề chài lưới.
And as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew the brother of Simon, throwing a net about in the sea; for they were fishers.
17 Chúa Giê-xu gọi họ: “Hãy theo Ta! Ta sẽ đào luyện các con thành người đánh lưới người.”
And Jesus said to them: Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
18 Họ liền bỏ lưới chài, đi theo Chúa.
And immediately they left their nets, and followed him.
19 Đi thêm một quãng nữa, Chúa Giê-xu thấy hai anh em Gia-cơ và Giăng, con trai Xê-bê-đê, đang ngồi vá lưới trên thuyền.
And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship, mending their nets.
20 Chúa cũng gọi họ. Hai anh em liền từ giã Xê-bê-đê, cha mình, trong thuyền và mấy người làm công, rồi đi theo Ngài.
And he immediately called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
21 Sau đó, Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ đến thành phố Ca-bê-na-um. Khi ấy nhằm ngày Sa-bát, Chúa vào hội đường giảng dạy.
And they went into Capernaum; and immediately, on the sabbath, he entered the synagogue, and taught.
22 Người ta ngạc nhiên về lời dạy của Chúa, vì Ngài giảng dạy đầy uy quyền, khác hẳn các thầy dạy luật.
And they were astonished at his teaching; for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
23 Lúc ấy, một người bị quỷ ám đang ngồi trong hội đường bỗng la lên:
And there was in their synagogue a man who had an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24 “Giê-xu người Na-xa-rét! Ngài định làm gì chúng tôi? Có phải Ngài đến tiêu diệt chúng tôi không? Tôi biết Ngài là Đấng Thánh của Đức Chúa Trời!”
saying: Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Nazarene? Hast thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25 Chúa Giê-xu quở trách quỷ: “Hãy im đi! Mau ra khỏi người này.”
And Jesus rebuked him, saying: Be silent, and come out of him.
26 Quỷ liền hét lên, vật nhào người ấy rồi ra khỏi.
And the unclean spirit threw him into convulsions, and cried with a loud voice, and came out of him.
27 Mọi người đều kinh ngạc vô cùng, bàn tán xôn xao về việc vừa xảy ra. Họ bảo nhau: “Đạo mới này là đạo gì đây? Lạ thật, cả đến ác quỷ cũng phải tuân lệnh Ngài!”
And all were amazed, so that they questioned one another, saying: What means this? What new teaching is this, that with authority he commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him?
28 Việc Chúa đuổi quỷ được đồn ra nhanh chóng khắp xứ Ga-li-lê.
And his fame immediately went abroad into all the surrounding country of Galilee.
29 Rời hội đường, Chúa Giê-xu cùng Gia-cơ và Giăng đến nhà Si-môn và Anh-rê.
And forthwith, having gone out of the synagogue, they went into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
30 Bà gia Si-môn đang bị sốt nặng, nằm trên giường. Các môn đệ đến thưa với Chúa.
Now the mother-in-law of Simon lay sick of a fever. And at once they told him of her.
31 Chúa bước lại, nắm tay bà đỡ dậy, cơn sốt liền dứt. Bà đứng dậy tiếp đãi mọi người.
And he went to her, and took her by the hand, and raised her up, and the fever left her instantly; and she ministered to them.
32 Lúc mặt trời lặn, người ta đem tất cả người bệnh và người bị quỷ ám đến gặp Chúa Giê-xu.
And at evening, when the sun had gone down, they brought to him all that were sick, and those who were possessed with demons.
33 Dân thành Ca-bê-na-um tụ họp trước cửa, xem Chúa chữa bệnh.
And the whole city came together to the door.
34 Tối hôm đó, Chúa Giê-xu chữa lành rất nhiều người bệnh và đuổi nhiều ác quỷ. Tuy nhiên, Chúa không cho phép các quỷ lên tiếng, vì chúng biết Ngài là Con Đức Chúa Trời.
And he cured many that were sick of various diseases, and cast out many demons, and did not suffer the demons to speak, because they knew him.
35 Sáng hôm sau, lúc trời còn tối, Chúa Giê-xu thức dậy đi một mình vào nơi thanh vắng để cầu nguyện.
And very early in the morning, while it was yet dark, he arose and went out, and departed to a desert place, and there prayed.
36 Si-môn và các môn đệ khác đi tìm Chúa.
And Simon, and those who were with him, followed after him.
37 Gặp Chúa, họ thưa: “Mọi người đều tìm kiếm Thầy!”
And when they had found him, they said to him: All are seeking for thee.
38 Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Chúng ta còn phải đi đến những thành khác nữa để truyền giảng Phúc Âm. Chính vì lý do đó mà Ta đến trần gian.”
And he said to them: Let us go into the neighboring towns, that I may preach there also; for I have come forth for this purpose.
39 Rồi Ngài đi khắp xứ Ga-li-lê, giảng dạy trong các hội đường, giải cứu nhiều người khỏi ác quỷ.
And throughout the whole of Galilee he continued to preach in their synagogues, and to cast out demons.
40 Một người phong hủi đến quỳ trước mặt Chúa Giê-xu, cầu xin: “Nếu Chúa vui lòng, Chúa có thể chữa cho con lành bệnh.”
And there came to him a leper, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying to him: If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
41 Chúa Giê-xu động lòng thương xót, đưa tay sờ người phong hủi và phán: “Ta sẵn lòng, lành bệnh đi!”
And Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched forth his hand, and touched him, and said to him: I will; be clean.
42 Lập tức bệnh phong hủi biến mất, người bệnh được chữa lành.
And when he had spoken, the leprosy immediately departed from him, and he was cleansed.
43 Chúa Giê-xu bảo anh ấy đi ngay, và nghiêm nghị căn dặn:
And he strictly charged him, and forthwith sent him away,
44 “Con đừng cho ai biết về điều này. Nhưng cứ đến ngay thầy tế lễ xin kiểm tra lại cho con. Dâng lễ vật như luật pháp Môi-se đã ấn định, để chứng tỏ cho mọi người biết con được sạch.”
and said to him: See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
45 Nhưng anh ấy đi đến đâu cũng khoe mình được Chúa chữa lành. Người ta đến vây quanh Chúa, đến nỗi Ngài không thể công khai vào thành, phải ở lại nơi vắng vẻ. Dân chúng khắp nơi kéo đến với Ngài.
But he went out, and began to proclaim it much, and to publish the matter abroad, so that he was no longer able to enter a city openly, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
