Lu-ca 23
1 Toàn thể hội đồng đứng dậy, giải Chúa qua dinh Phi-lát, tổng trấn La Mã.
And the whole multitude of them rising up, led him to Pilate.
2 Họ bắt đầu tố cáo: “Chúng tôi bắt được người này xúi dân nổi loạn, bảo đừng đóng thuế cho chính quyền La Mã và tự xưng là Đấng Mết-si-a, tức là Vua.”
And they began to accuse him, saying: We have found this man perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he is Christ the king.
3 Phi-lát hỏi Chúa: “Anh có phải là vua người Do Thái không?” Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Ông đã nói như thế.”
And Pilate asked him, saying: Art thou the king of the Jews? But he answering, said: Thou sayest it.
4 Phi-lát quay sang bảo các trưởng tế và đám đông: “Ta không thấy người này phạm luật gì cả!”
And Pilate said to the chief priests and to the multitudes: I find no cause in this man.
5 Nhưng họ cố buộc tội: “Người này sách động dân chúng khắp xứ Giu-đê, bắt đầu ở xứ Ga-li-lê, và bây giờ đến Giê-ru-sa-lem!”
But they were more earnest, saying: He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.
6 Phi-lát hỏi: “Anh này là người Ga-li-lê sao?”
But Pilate hearing Galilee, asked if the man were of Galilee?
7 Khi biết Chúa là người Ga-li-lê, Phi-lát liền ra lệnh giải Ngài đến cho Hê-rốt An-ti-pa vì Ga-li-lê dưới quyền của Hê-rốt. Lúc ấy vua cũng có mặt tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.
And when he understood that he was of Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him away to Herod, who was also himself at Jerusalem, in those days.
8 Gặp Chúa Giê-xu, Hê-rốt rất mừng vì đã nghe danh tiếng Ngài và ước ao xem Ngài làm phép lạ.
And Herod, seeing Jesus, was very glad; for he was desirous of a long time to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some sign wrought by him.
9 Hê-rốt hỏi Chúa Giê-xu nhiều câu nhưng Chúa Giê-xu không trả lời.
And he questioned him in many words. But he answered him nothing.
10 Trong lúc đó, các thầy trưởng tế và thầy dạy luật đều gay gắt buộc tội Ngài.
And the chief priests and the scribes stood by, earnestly accusing him.
11 Vua Hê-rốt và bọn lính tỏ vẻ khinh bỉ và bắt đầu chế giễu Chúa Giê-xu. Họ mặc cho Ngài một chiếc áo sặc sỡ rồi giải Ngài về cho Phi-lát.
And Herod with his army set him at nought, and mocked him, putting on him a white garment, and sent him back to Pilate.
12 (Trước kia, Hê-rốt và Phi-lát thù ghét nhau, nhưng hôm đó trở thành bạn hữu.)
And Herod and Pilate were made friends, that same day; for before they were enemies one to another.
13 Phi-lát cho gọi các thầy trưởng tế, các nhà lãnh đạo, và dân chúng họp lại,
And Pilate, calling together the chief priests, and the magistrates, and the people,
14 rồi tuyên bố: “Các ông bắt giải và tố cáo người này về tội phản nghịch, xúi dân làm loạn. Trước mặt các ông, ta đã tra xét tỉ mỉ các lời tố cáo đó nhưng đương sự thật vô tội.
Said to them: You have presented unto me this man, as one that perverteth the people; and behold I, having examined him before you, find no cause in this man, in those things wherein you accuse him.
15 Vua Hê-rốt cũng không buộc tội được, nên trao trả đương sự về đây. Như thế, người này không làm gì đáng tội tử hình cả.
No, nor Herod neither. For I sent you to him, and behold, nothing worthy of death is done to him.
16 Vì vậy, ta sẽ đánh đòn rồi trả tự do.”
I will chastise him therefore, and release him.
Now of necessity he was to release unto them one upon the feast day.
18 Nhưng dân chúng đồng thanh kêu gào: “Xử tử nó đi và tha Ba-ra-ba cho chúng tôi!”
But the whole multitude together cried out, saying: Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 (Ba-ra-ba đang bị tù vì giết người và nổi loạn tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.)
Who, for a certain sedition made in the city, and for a murder, was cast into prison.
20 Phi-lát muốn tha Chúa Giê-xu nên tìm cách khuyên giải họ.
And Pilate again spoke to them, desiring to release Jesus.
21 Nhưng họ cứ la hét: “Đóng đinh nó trên cây thập tự!”
But they cried again, saying: Crucify him, crucify him.
22 Phi-lát hỏi lần thứ ba: “Tại sao? Người ấy có tội gì đâu? Ta không thấy tội gì đáng xử tử cả. Để ta sai đánh đòn rồi thả ra.”
And he said to them the third time: Why, what evil hath this man done? I find no cause of death in him. I will chastise him therefore, and let him go.
23 Nhưng dân chúng lớn tiếng gào thét, khăng khăng đòi xử tử Chúa Giê-xu. Cuối cùng, tiếng gào thét của họ thắng thế.
But they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified; and their voices prevailed.
24 Phi-lát đành tuyên án tử hình Chúa Giê-xu theo lời họ yêu cầu.
And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.
25 Cũng thể theo ý họ, Phi-lát phóng thích Ba-ra-ba, người đang ngồi tù vì nổi loạn và giết người. Rồi ông giao Chúa Giê-xu cho họ hành hình theo ý muốn.
And he released unto them him who for murder and sedition, had been cast into prison, whom they had desired; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
26 Trên đường giải Chúa Giê-xu ra pháp trường, họ gặp Si-môn, người xứ Ly-bi vừa từ thôn quê lên Giê-ru-sa-lem, liền bắt anh vác cây thập tự cho Chúa Giê-xu.
And as they led him away, they laid hold of one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country; and they laid the cross on him to carry after Jesus.
27 Một đoàn dân rất đông kéo theo sau, nhiều phụ nữ vừa đi vừa than khóc.
And there followed him a great multitude of people, and of women, who bewailed and lamented him.
28 Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu quay lại và phán với họ: “Con gái Giê-ru-sa-lem, đừng than khóc Ta, nhưng hãy khóc cho bản thân và con cái mình!
But Jesus turning to them, said: Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not over me; but weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 Vì sắp đến ngày con cái bị coi là điều bất hạnh. Người ta sẽ bảo nhau: ‘Phước cho phụ nữ chẳng từng thai nghén, chẳng phải lo bú mớm cho con.’
For behold, the days shall come, wherein they will say: Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that have not borne, and the paps that have not given suck.
30 Người ta sẽ cầu xin núi: ‘Hãy ngã lên chúng tôi,’ và nài xin các đồi: ‘Hãy chôn chúng tôi.’
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains: Fall upon us; and to the hills: Cover us.
31 Vì nếu họ đối xử với Ta là Cây Hằng Sống thế này, số phận các bà sẽ ra sao?”
For if in the green wood they do these things, what shall be done in the dry?
32 Hai tử tội cũng bị giải ra pháp trường với Chúa.
And there were also two other malefactors led with him to be put to death.
33 Đến ngọn đồi Sọ, họ đóng đinh Chúa và hai tử tội trên cây thập tự, một tên bên phải và một tên bên trái Ngài.
And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary, they crucified him there; and the robbers, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
34 Chúa Giê-xu cầu nguyện: “Thưa Cha, xin tha tội cho họ, vì họ không biết mình làm điều gì.” Rồi bọn lính gieo súc sắc chia nhau bộ áo của Ngài.
And Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. But they, dividing his garments, cast lots.
35 Dân chúng đứng quanh đưa mắt nhìn. Các cấp lãnh đạo Do Thái chế nhạo Ngài: “Nó chỉ giỏi cứu người khác! Nếu nó đúng là Đấng Mết-si-a của Đức Chúa Trời, Đấng Được Lựa Chọn thì phải tự giải cứu đi chứ!”
And the people stood beholding, and the rulers with them derided him, saying: He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the elect of God.
36 Bọn lính cũng giễu cợt Chúa, đưa rượu chua cho Ngài uống
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37 và mỉa mai: “Nếu anh là Vua người Do Thái, sao không tự cứu thoát?”
And saying: If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38 Phía trên đầu Ngài, có treo tấm bảng ghi mấy chữ: “Đây là Vua người Do Thái.”
And there was also a superscription written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Một tử tội bị đóng đinh bên cạnh cũng nhiếc móc Chúa: “Anh không phải là Đấng Mết-si-a sao? Hãy tự giải thoát và cứu bọn tôi với!”
And one of those robbers who were hanged, blasphemed him, saying: If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 Nhưng tên kia trách nó: “Anh không sợ Đức Chúa Trời sao?
But the other answering, rebuked him, saying: Neither dost thou fear God, seeing thou art condemned under the same condemnation?
41 Mặc dù chịu chung một bản án tử hình, nhưng anh và tôi đền tội thật xứng đáng; còn Người này có tội gì đâu?”
And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this man hath done no evil.
42 Rồi anh quay lại: “Thưa Chúa Giê-xu, khi về Nước Chúa, xin nhớ đến con!”
And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom.
43 Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Ta hứa chắc chắn, hôm nay con sẽ ở với Ta trong thiên đàng!”
And Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee, this day thou shalt be with me in paradise.
44 Khoảng giữa trưa, mặt trời không chiếu sáng nữa, bóng tối bao trùm khắp đất cho đến ba giờ chiều.
And it was almost the sixth hour; and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
45 Mặt trời trở nên tối. Bức màn trong Đền Thờ thình lình bị xé làm đôi.
And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46 Chúa Giê-xu kêu lớn: “Thưa Cha, Con xin giao thác linh hồn Con trong tay Cha!” Nói xong, Ngài tắt thở.
And Jesus crying out with a loud voice, said: Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. And saying this, he gave up the ghost.
47 Viên đại đội trưởng La Mã thấy cảnh tượng ấy liền ngợi tôn Đức Chúa Trời và nhìn nhận: “Chắc chắn, Người này là vô tội!”
Now the centurion, seeing what was done, glorified God, saying: Indeed this was a just man.
48 Dân chúng đi xem cuộc hành hình đều đấm ngực ra về.
And all the multitude of them that were come together to that sight, and saw the things that were done, returned striking their breasts.
49 Những người quen biết Chúa Giê-xu và nhóm phụ nữ đã theo Ngài từ xứ Ga-li-lê, đều đứng xa mà nhìn.
And all his acquaintance, and the women that had followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.
50 Có một người đạo đức và công chính tên Giô-sép. Ông là thành viên trong Hội Đồng Quốc Gia,
And behold there was a man named Joseph, who was a counsellor, a good and just man,
51 nhưng ông không tán thành quyết định và hành động của những người lãnh đạo tôn giáo. Ông là người A-ri-ma-thê, xứ Giu-đê, và ông vẫn trông đợi Nước của Đức Chúa Trời xuất hiện.
(The same had not consented to their counsel and doings; ) of Arimathea, a city of Judea; who also himself looked for the kingdom of God.
52 Ông đến xin Phi-lát cho lãnh xác Chúa Giê-xu.
This man went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 Ông hạ xác Chúa xuống, lấy một cuộn vải gai khâm liệm, rồi đặt vào huyệt đá đục sẵn trong sườn núi, chưa hề chôn ai.
And taking him down, he wrapped him in fine linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that was hewed in stone, wherein never yet any man had been laid.
54 Hôm ấy nhằm chiều thứ Sáu, ngày chuẩn bị, và sắp đến ngày Sa-bát.
And it was the day of the Parasceve, and the sabbath drew on.
55 Nhóm phụ nữ theo Chúa từ xứ Ga-li-lê cũng chứng kiến việc chôn cất và biết ngôi mộ Chúa
And the women that were come with him from Galilee, following after, saw the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56 Họ trở về nhà sửa soạn các loại hương liệu và dầu thơm để ướp xác Chúa. Hôm sau nhằm ngày Sa-bát, họ nghỉ ngơi theo luật lệ.
And returning, they prepared spices and ointments; and on the sabbath day they rested, according to the commandment.
