1 Thời đó, Hoàng đế La Mã Âu-gút-tơ ra lệnh kiểm kê dân số khắp Đế quốc La Mã.
It came to pass then in the days those went out a decree from Caesar Augustus to register all the world.
2 (Đây là cuộc kiểm kê dân số đầu tiên, được thực hiện thời Qui-ri-ni làm tổng trấn xứ Sy-ri.)
This (*k*) registration first took place when is governing Syria Quirinius.
3 Mọi người đều phải về quê đăng ký.
And were going all to be registered, each to the (their own *N(k)O*) city.
4 Vì Giô-sép thuộc dòng họ Đa-vít, nên phải từ thành Na-xa-rét xứ Ga-li-lê, về làng Bết-lê-hem, xứ Giu-đê, quê hương Vua Đa-vít,
Went up then also Joseph from Galilee out of [the] town of Nazareth to Judea to [the] City of David which is called Bethlehem, because of being him from [the] house and family of David,
5 đăng ký cho mình và cô Ma-ri, vị hôn thê đang có thai.
to register with Mary who [was] betrothed to him (wife *k*) she being with child.
6 Về đến Bết-lê-hem, Ma-ri tới ngày sinh nở.
It came to pass then in their being them there were fulfilled the days of the giving birth of her,
7 Cô sinh con trai đầu lòng, lấy khăn bọc lại, đặt trong máng cỏ, vì nhà quán không còn chỗ trọ.
And she brought forth the son of her the firstborn and wrapped in swaddling cloths him and she laid Him in (*k*) a manger, because not there was for them a place in the inn.
8 Tại miền đó, có mấy người chăn chiên đang ở ngoài đồng, thức đêm canh giữ bầy chiên.
And shepherds were in the region same lodging in the fields and keeping watch by night over the flock of them.
9 Thình lình, một thiên sứ của Chúa hiện ra, hào quang Chúa chói lòa khắp nơi. Họ vô cùng kinh hãi,
And (behold *KO*) an angel of [the] Lord stood by them, and [the] glory of [the] Lord shone around them, and they feared [with] fear great.
10 nhưng thiên sứ liền trấn an: “Đừng sợ, tôi đến báo cho các anh một tin mừng. Tin này sẽ đem lại niềm vui lớn cho mọi người.
And said to them the angel; Not do fear; behold for I bring good news to you [of] joy great which will be to all the people
11 Đêm nay, Đấng Cứu Rỗi—phải, Đấng Mết-si-a, là Chúa—đã ra đời tại Bết-lê-hem, thành Đa-vít!
For has been born to you today a Savior who is Christ [the] Lord in [the] City of David.
12 Các anh sẽ nhận ra Ngài bởi dấu hiệu: Các anh gặp một em bé quấn khăn nằm trong máng cỏ.”
And this [is] to you the sign: You will find a baby swaddled (and *no*) lying in (*k*) a manger.
13 Thình lình, vô số các thiên sứ hiện ra, hợp với thiên sứ ấy ca ngợi Đức Chúa Trời:
And suddenly there came with the angel a multitude of [the] host (heavenly *NK(o)*) praising God and saying:
14 “Vinh quang Đức Chúa Trời nơi chí cao, bình an dưới đất cho người được ơn!”
Glory in [the] highest to God, and on earth peace among men (of good-will. *N(k)O*)
15 Khi các thiên sứ lên trời, các người chăn chiên bảo nhau: “Chúng ta hãy tới làng Bết-lê-hem xem chuyện lạ Chúa vừa cho biết!”
And it came to pass as they were departing from them into the heaven the angels, (and *ko*) the (men *ko*) shepherds (were speaking *N(k)O*) to one another; Let us go through indeed until Bethlehem and let us see declaration this that having happened which the Lord has made known to us.
16 Họ vội vã đến nơi, gặp Ma-ri, Giô-sép, và thấy Con Trẻ đang nằm trong máng cỏ.
And they came having hurried and they found both Mary and Joseph and the baby lying in the manger.
17 Họ liền thuật lại việc vừa xảy ra và những lời thiên sứ nói về Con Trẻ.
Having seen now (they made known *N(k)O*) concerning the declaration which having been told to them concerning Child this.
18 Mọi người nghe đều ngạc nhiên,
And all those having heard they marveled concerning the [things] having been spoken by the shepherds to them.
19 riêng Ma-ri ghi nhớ từng chi tiết và suy nghiệm trong lòng.
But Mary all was treasuring up declarations these pondering [them] in the heart of her.
20 Các người chăn chiên trở về, ca tụng Đức Chúa Trời về những điều nghe thấy, đúng như lời thiên sứ nói.
And (returned *N(k)O*) the shepherds glorifying and praising God for all things which they had heard and seen even as it was said to them.
21 Tám ngày sau, Con Trẻ chịu lễ cắt bì và được đặt tên là Giê-xu, như thiên sứ đã dặn trước khi Ngài giáng sinh.
And when were fulfilled days eight to circumcise (Him *no*) (the child *K*) then was called the name of Him Jesus, which He had been called by the angel before conceiving He in the womb.
22 Khi những ngày thanh tẩy theo luật Môi-se đã mãn sau khi sinh con, Ma-ri và Giô-sép đem Con Trẻ lên Giê-ru-sa-lem dâng lên Chúa.
And when were fulfilled the days of the purification of them according to the law of Moses, they brought Him to Jerusalem to present to the Lord
23 Vì luật Chúa dạy: “Mọi con trai đầu lòng phải dâng lên Chúa Hằng Hữu,”
even as it has been written in [the] law of [the] Lord that Every male opening a womb holy to the Lord will be called;
24 và “dâng một cặp chim cu hay bồ câu tơ” theo luật định của Chúa.
and to offer a sacrifice according to that said in (the *no*) law of [the] Lord; A pair of turtle doves or two young pigeons.
25 Lúc đó, tại Giê-ru-sa-lem có một người tên là Si-mê-ôn. Ông là người công chính, mộ đạo, và ngày đêm trông đợi Đấng Mết-si-a đến để giải cứu Ít-ra-ên. Chúa Thánh Linh ngự trong lòng ông,
And behold a man there was in Jerusalem whose name [was] Simeon and man this [was] righteous and devout waiting for [the] consolation of Israel; and [the] Spirit was Holy upon him.
26 và cho biết ông sẽ được thấy Đấng Mết-si-a của Chúa trước khi qua đời.
And it was to him revealed by the Spirit Holy not to see death before than (when *no*) he may see the Christ of [the] Lord
27 Hôm đó, Chúa Thánh Linh thúc giục ông vào Đền Thờ, nhằm lúc Ma-ri và Giô-sép đem Con Trẻ đến dâng lên Chúa đúng theo luật lệ.
And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and in the [time when] bringing in the parents the child Jesus for the [thing] [were] doing they according to that accustomed by the law for Him,
28 Si-mê-ôn bồng Con Trẻ và tôn ngợi Đức Chúa Trời:
then he himself received Him into the arms (of him *ko*) and blessed God and said:
29 “Lạy Chúa Chí Cao, bây giờ con có thể an vui qua đời, theo lời hứa của Ngài.
Now You dismiss the servant of You, Lord, according to the declaration of You in peace
30 Vì chính mắt con đã thấy Đấng Cứu Chuộc
for have seen the eyes of mine the salvation of You
31 mà Ngài chuẩn bị cho nhân loại.
which You have prepared before [the] face of all the peoples,
32 Ngài là ánh sáng rọi đường cho các dân tộc, là vinh quang cho người Ít-ra-ên, dân Ngài!”
a light for revelation of [the] Gentiles and glory of [the] people of You of Israel.
33 Giô-sép và Ma-ri kinh ngạc về những lời Si-mê-ôn nói về Con Trẻ.
And were (the *no*) (father *N(K)O*) of Him and the mother marveling at the [things] being spoken concerning Him.
34 Sau khi cầu phước lành cho hai người, Si-mê-ôn nói riêng với Ma-ri: “Con Trẻ này sẽ làm cho nhiều người Ít-ra-ên vấp ngã trong khi nhiều người được giải cứu. Con Trẻ sẽ bị người ta chống đối.
And blessed them Simeon and said to Mary the mother of Him: Behold this [Child] is appointed for [the] falling and rising up of many in Israel and for a sign spoken against.
35 Kết quả là những tư tưởng thầm kín của họ bị phơi ra ánh sáng. Còn bà sẽ bị đau đớn như gươm đâm thấu vào tâm hồn bà!”
and of you also of her the soul will go through a sword — so that maybe may be revealed of many hearts [the] thoughts.
36 Hôm đó, nữ Tiên tri An-ne cũng có mặt trong Đền Thờ. Bà là con gái của Pha-nu-ên, thuộc đại tộc A-se, trước kia đã sống với chồng được bảy năm,
And there was Anna a prophetess, daughter of Phanuel, of [the] tribe of Asher; she having advanced in years great, having lived with a husband years seven from the marriage of herself;
37 rồi ở góa cho đến năm tám mươi bốn tuổi. Bà cứ ở luôn trong Đền Thờ, ngày đêm thờ phượng Đức Chúa Trời, kiêng ăn và cầu nguyện.
and she [was] a widow (until *N(k)O*) years eighty [and] four who not was departing (from *k*) the temple with fastings and prayers serving night and day;
38 Lúc Si-mê-ôn nói chuyện với Ma-ri và Giô-sép, bà cũng vừa tới đó, cảm tạ Đức Chúa Trời và báo cho mọi người biết Đấng Cứu Chuộc họ trông đợi đã đến rồi.
And (this *k*) she at that hour having come up she was giving praise (to God *N(K)O*) and was speaking concerning Him to all those waiting for [the] redemption (in *k*) of Jerusalem.
39 Sau khi làm xong mọi việc theo luật pháp của Chúa, Giô-sép và Ma-ri trở về Na-xa-rét, xứ Ga-li-lê.
And when they had performed (everything *N(k)O*) according to the law of [the] Lord, (they returned *N(k)O*) to Galilee to (the *k*) town (of themselves *N(k)O*) Nazareth.
40 Tại đó, Con Trẻ lớn lên, khỏe mạnh, đầy khôn ngoan, và ơn phước của Đức Chúa Trời.
And the Child was continuing to grow and He was being strengthened (in spirit *K*) being filled (with wisdom, *N(k)O*) and [the] grace of God was upon Him.
41 Hằng năm, Giô-sép và Ma-ri đều lên Giê-ru-sa-lem dự lễ Vượt Qua.
And were going the parents of Him every year to Jerusalem at the feast of the Passover.
42 Khi Chúa Giê-xu được mười hai tuổi, Ngài theo cha mẹ đi dự lễ.
And when He was years [old] twelve (when were going up *N(k)O*) they (into Jerusalem *KO*) according to the custom of the Feast
43 Sau đó, cha mẹ trở về nhà. Chúa Giê-xu vẫn ở tại Giê-ru-sa-lem mà ông bà không biết.
and when having completed the days in the returning of them remained behind Jesus the boy in Jerusalem, But not (knew *N(k)O*) (the parents *NO*) (Joseph and the mother *K*) of Him.
44 Họ đinh ninh Ngài cùng đi với đám đông, nên cứ đi suốt một ngày, đến tối mới tìm trong nhóm bà con bạn hữu.
Having supposed now Him to be in their company they went a day’s journey and were seeking Him among the relatives and (in *k*) the acquaintances.
45 Tìm không được, họ trở lại Giê-ru-sa-lem.
and not having found (Him *k*) they returned to Jerusalem (searching *N(k)O*) Him.
46 Ba ngày sau, ông bà tìm gặp Ngài đang ngồi trong Đền Thờ, giữa các thầy dạy luật, chất vấn và bàn cãi nhiều vấn đề quan trọng.
And it came to pass after days three they found Him in the temple sitting in [the] midst of the teachers both hearing them and questioning them.
47 Mọi người đều ngạc nhiên về kiến thức và lời đối đáp của Ngài.
Were amazed then all those hearing Him at the understanding and at the answers of Him.
48 Thấy thế cha mẹ Ngài vô cùng sửng sốt. Mẹ Ngài trách: “Con ơi, sao con để cha mẹ như thế này? Cha mẹ phải vất vả lo lắng tìm con!”
And having seen Him they were astonished, and said to Him the mother of Him: Child why You did to us thus? Behold the father of You and I myself and I myself distressing (were seeking *NK(o)*) You.
49 Ngài hỏi: “Cha mẹ tìm con làm chi? Cha mẹ không biết con phải lo việc Cha con sao?”
And He said to them; Why [is it] for you were seeking Me? Surely you knew that in the [house] of the Father of Mine it behooves to be Me?
50 Nhưng ông bà chẳng hiểu Ngài nói gì.
And they themselves not understood the declaration that He spoke to them.
51 Sau đó, Ngài trở về Na-xa-rét, phục tùng cha mẹ. Mẹ Ngài ghi nhớ mọi việc trong lòng.
And He went down with them and He came to Nazareth and He was subject to them. And the mother of Him was treasuring up all declaration (these *ko*) in the heart of her.
52 Chúa Giê-xu càng thêm khôn lớn, càng đẹp lòng Đức Chúa Trời và mọi người.
And Jesus was continuing to advance (in *n*) (*no*) wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men.
