1 Sau khi Ê-hút qua đời, người Ít-ra-ên lại phạm tội với Chúa Hằng Hữu.
And the children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.
2 Chúa Hằng Hữu để cho vua Ca-na-an là Gia-bin ở Hát-so chinh phục Ít-ra-ên. Tư lệnh quân đội Ca-na-an là Si-sê-ra ở Ha-rô-sết Ha-gô-im.
And the LORD gave them over into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth-goiim.
3 Gia-bin có đến 900 chiến xa bằng sắt. Họ áp bức người Ít-ra-ên suốt hai mươi năm, nên Ít-ra-ên kêu xin Chúa Hằng Hữu cứu giúp.
And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD; for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
4 Lúc bấy giờ, Tiên tri Đê-bô-ra, vợ của Láp-bi-đốt, làm phán quan cho Ít-ra-ên.
Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
5 Bà thường ngồi xét xử dân dưới cây chà là Đê-bô-ra, ở giữa Ra-ma và Bê-tên, trên núi Ép-ra-im.
And she sat under the palm-tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth-el in the hill-country of Ephraim; and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6 Một hôm, bà sai người mời Ba-rác, con A-bi-nô-am ở Kê-đe thuộc Nép-ta-li đến. Bà nói: “Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên có ra lệnh cho ông: Hãy chiêu tập 10.000 người Nép-ta-li và Sa-bu-luân tại Núi Tha-bô.
And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, and said unto him: 'Hath not the LORD, the God of Israel, commanded, saying: Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
7 Ta sẽ dụ Si-sê-ra, tướng chỉ huy quân đội của Gia-bin, đem toàn quân và chiến xa bằng sắt ra đánh ngươi tại Sông Ki-sôn. Ta sẽ cho ngươi chiến thắng hắn.”
And I will draw unto thee to the brook Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thy hand.
8 Ba-rác nói với bà: “Tôi sẽ đi, nhưng chỉ khi nào bà đi với tôi.”
And Barak said unto her: 'If thou wilt go with me, then I will go; but if thou wilt not go with me, I will not go.'
9 Bà đáp: “Được rồi, tôi sẽ đi với ông. Nhưng công đầu sẽ không về tay ông, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ nạp Si-sê-ra vào tay một người nữ.” Rồi Đê-bô-ra cùng đi với Ba-rác đến Kê-đe.
And she said: 'I will surely go with thee; notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thy honour; for the LORD will give Sisera over into the hand of a woman.' And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10 Ba-rác triệu tập hai đại tộc Sa-bu-luân và Nép-ta-li tại Kê-đe, có 10.000 lính theo ông. Đê-bô-ra cũng đi với họ.
And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali together to Kedesh; and there went up ten thousand men at his feet; and Deborah went up with him.
11 Lúc ấy, Hê-be, người Kê-nít, con cháu của Hô-báp, anh vợ của Môi-se, sống biệt lập với bà con mình, đi cắm lều ở tận một nơi xa gọi là cây sồi Sa-na-im, gần Kê-đe.
Now Heber the Kenite had severed himself from the Kenites, even from the children of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far as Elon-bezaanannim, which is by Kedesh.
12 Người ta báo cho Si-sê-ra hay rằng Ba-rác, con trai A-bi-nô-am, dấy binh ở Núi Tha-bô,
And they told Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.
13 Si-sê-ra liền huy động quân đội, từ Ha-rô-sết Ha-gô-im đem hết 900 chiến xa bằng sắt đến Sông Ki-sôn.
And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth-goiim, unto the brook Kishon.
14 Sau đó, Đê-bô-ra nói với Ba-rác: “Hãy đứng lên, hôm nay là ngày Chúa Hằng Hữu cho ông chiến thắng Si-sê-ra. Đứng lên! Có Chúa Hằng Hữu đi trước ông đó.” Ba-rác liền kéo 10.000 quân xuống Núi Tha-bô.
And Deborah said unto Barak: 'Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thy hand; is not the LORD gone out before thee?' So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
15 Chúa Hằng Hữu dùng gươm của dân Ngài chiến thắng Si-sê-ra và đánh tan quân đội Ca-na-an, kể cả quân đi chiến xa bằng sắt. Si-sê-ra nhảy ra khỏi chiến xa, chạy thoát.
And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera alighted from his chariot, and fled away on his feet.
16 Ba-rác đuổi theo chiến xa và quân địch đến tận Ha-rô-sết Ha-gô-im, tiêu diệt toàn bộ quân Si-sê-ra. Không chừa một ai.
But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth-goiim; and all the host of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; there was not a man left.
17 Tướng Si-sê-ra chạy bộ đến lều của Gia-ên, vợ Hê-be, người Kê-nít, vì Vua Gia-bin, ở Hát-so, vẫn hòa hiếu với gia đình Hê-be.
Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18 Gia-ên ra đón Si-sê-ra, nói: “Mời ngài vào đây, đừng lo gì hết.” Hắn vào lều của bà, và bà lấy một cái chăn đắp lên người hắn.
And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him: 'Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not.' And he turned in unto her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug.
19 Hắn nói: “Tôi khát quá, xin cho tôi nước uống.” Gia-ên mở bầu sữa cho hắn uống, rồi đắp chăn lại như trước.
And he said unto her: 'Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty.' And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.
20 Hắn lại nói: “Xin hãy đứng ở cửa lều, nếu có người đến hỏi rằng, có ai ở trong lều không, xin nói là không.”
And he said unto her: 'Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and inquire of thee, and say: Is there any man here? that thou shalt say: No.'
21 Rồi Si-sê-ra ngủ thiếp đi vì mệt. Gia-ên lấy một cây cọc dùng để cắm lều với một cái búa, khẽ đến bên Si-sê-ra, đóng cây cọc xuyên màng tang hắn lút xuống đất, vậy, hắn chết.
Then Jael Heber's wife took a tent-pin, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the pin into his temples, and it pierced through into the ground; for he was in a deep sleep; so he swooned and died.
22 Khi Ba-rác đuổi đến, Gia-ên ra đón và nói: “Ông vào đây, tôi chỉ cho ông người ông tìm.” Ông vào lều, thấy Si-sê-ra nằm chết, cây cọc cắm ở màng tang.
And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him: 'Come, and I will show thee the man whom thou seekest.' And he came unto her; and, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the tent-pin was in his temples.
23 Vậy hôm ấy, Chúa Hằng Hữu cho Ít-ra-ên khắc phục Gia-bin, vua Ca-na-an.
So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.
24 Thế lực Ít-ra-ên ngày càng mạnh, và cuối cùng họ tiêu diệt Vua Gia-bin.
And the hand of the children of Israel prevailed more and more against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
