1 Hai ngày sau, mẹ Chúa Giê-xu đi dự tiệc cưới tại làng Ca-na, xứ Ga-li-lê.
And the thirde day, was there a mariage in Cana a towne of Galile, and the mother of Iesus was there.
2 Chúa Giê-xu và các môn đệ cũng được mời dự tiệc.
And Iesus was called also, and his disciples vnto the mariage.
3 Khi rượu nho đã hết, mẹ Chúa Giê-xu nói với Ngài: “Họ đã hết rượu rồi.”
Nowe when the wine failed, the mother of Iesus saide vnto him, They haue no wine.
4 Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Thưa mẹ, việc ấy có liên hệ gì đến chúng ta? Thời điểm của con chưa đến.”
Iesus saide vnto her, Woman, what haue I to doe with thee? mine houre is not yet come.
5 Nhưng mẹ Chúa bảo những đầy tớ: “Hãy làm theo những gì Ngài bảo.”
His mother saide vnto the seruants, Whatsoeuer he sayeth vnto you, doe it.
6 Trong nhà có sáu cái chum bằng đá đựng nước dùng để tẩy trần theo phong tục Do Thái. Mỗi chum chứa 75 đến 113 lít.
And there were set there, sixe waterpots of stone, after the maner of the purifying of the Iewes, conteining two or three firkins a piece.
7 Chúa Giê-xu phán với những đầy tớ: “Hãy múc nước đổ đầy các chum đó.” Khi các chum đã đầy nước,
And Iesus sayde vnto them, Fill the waterpots with water. Then they filled them vp to the brim.
8 Chúa phán: “Bây giờ các anh múc ra, đem cho ông chủ tiệc.” Vậy những đầy tớ làm y theo lời Chúa phán dặn.
Then he sayde vnto them, Draw out nowe and beare vnto the gouernour of the feast. So they bare it.
9 Chủ tiệc nếm nước đã hóa thành rượu nho, không biết rượu này lấy từ đâu (dù các đầy tớ đều biết rõ), nên gọi chú rể mà khen:
Nowe when the gouernour of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, (for he knewe not whence it was: but the seruants, which drewe the water, knewe) the gouernour of ye feast called the bridegrome,
10 “Ai cũng đãi rượu ngon trước, đến khi tân khách uống say mới dọn rượu thường. Anh thật khác người, giữ rượu ngon đến giờ này mới đem ra!”
And saide vnto him, All men at the beginning set foorth good wine, and when men haue well drunke, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept backe the good wine vntill nowe.
11 Việc xảy ra tại làng Ca-na, xứ Ga-li-lê, là phép lạ đầu tiên của Chúa Giê-xu biểu lộ vinh quang của Ngài. Các môn đệ đều tin Ngài.
This beginning of miracles did Iesus in Cana a towne of Galile, and shewed forth his glorie: and his disciples beleeued on him.
12 Sau tiệc cưới, Chúa cùng với mẹ, các em trai, và các môn đệ trở về thành Ca-bê-na-um, và ở lại đó vài ngày.
After that, he went downe into Capernaum, he and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: but they continued not many daies there.
13 Gần đến lễ Vượt Qua của người Do Thái, Chúa Giê-xu lên Giê-ru-sa-lem.
For the Iewes Passeouer was at hande. Therefore Iesus went vp to Hierusalem.
14 Thấy nhiều người bày bán bò, chiên, bồ câu, và đổi bạc ngay trong Đền Thờ.
And he found in the Temple those that sold oxen, and sheepe, and doues, and changers of money, sitting there.
15 Chúa Giê-xu bện dây làm roi đuổi hết bọn ấy khỏi Đền Thờ. Chúa cũng xua đuổi chiên, bò, vãi tiền, và lật đổ bàn của bọn đổi bạc.
Then hee made a scourge of small cordes, and draue them all out of the Temple with the sheepe and oxen, and powred out the changers money, and ouerthrewe the tables,
16 Chúa phán bọn bán bồ câu: “Dẹp hết đi! Đừng biến nhà Cha Ta thành chợ buôn bán!”
And said vnto them that solde doues, Take these things hence: make not my fathers house, an house of marchandise.
17 Các môn đệ sực nhớ lời Thánh Kinh: “Lòng nhiệt thành về nhà Chúa nung nấu tôi.”
And his disciples remembred, that it was written, The zeale of thine house hath eaten me vp.
18 Những người lãnh đạo Do Thái hỏi: “Thầy làm phép lạ gì để chứng tỏ Thầy có thẩm quyền dẹp sạch Đền Thờ?”
Then answered the Iewes, and saide vnto him, What signe shewest thou vnto vs, that thou doest these things?
19 Chúa Giê-xu đáp: “Cứ phá Đền Thờ này đi, trong ba ngày Ta sẽ xây lại.”
Iesus answered, and said vnto them, Destroy this Temple, and in three daies I will raise it vp againe.
20 Họ chế nhạo: “Người ta xây Đền Thờ mất bốn mươi sáu năm, còn Thầy chỉ xây cất trong ba ngày!”
Then said the Iewes, Fourtie and sixe yeeres was this Temple a building, and wilt thou reare it vp in three daies?
21 Thật ra, Chúa Giê-xu nói “Đền Thờ này” là chỉ thân thể Ngài.
But he spake of the temple of his bodie.
22 Đến khi Chúa sống lại từ cõi chết, các môn đệ nhớ lại lời ấy nên họ càng tin Thánh Kinh và lời Chúa Giê-xu đã phán.
Assoone therefore as he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembred that hee thus sayde vnto them: and they beleeued the Scripture, and the worde which Iesus had saide.
23 Khi Chúa Giê-xu ở Giê-ru-sa-lem dự lễ Vượt Qua, nhiều người tin Chúa vì thấy các phép lạ Ngài làm.
Nowe when hee was at Hierusalem at the Passeouer in the feast, many beleeued in his Name, when they sawe his miracles which he did.
24 Nhưng Chúa Giê-xu không tin cậy họ vì Ngài biết rõ mọi người.
But Iesus did not commit him selfe vnto them, because he knewe them all,
25 Chẳng cần ai nói, Chúa biết hết lòng dạ con người.
And had no neede that any should testifie of man: for he knewe what was in man.
