Job also added to this, using figures of speech, and he said:
2 “Ước gì tôi được trở về những ngày tháng trước, khi Đức Chúa Trời còn chăm sóc tôi,
Who will grant to me that I might be as I was in former months, according to the days when God kept watch over me?
3 khi ngọn đèn Chúa còn soi sáng trên đầu tôi và tôi bước đi an toàn trong tối tăm.
At that time, his lamp shined over my head, and by his light, I walked through the darkness.
4 Khi tôi còn tráng kiện tình bạn của Đức Chúa Trời thân thiết trong nhà tôi.
I was then just as in the days of my youth, when God was privately in my tabernacle.
5 Khi Đấng Toàn Năng còn ở với tôi, và con cái quây quần bên tôi.
At that time, the Almighty was with me and my children surrounded me.
6 Khi lối tôi đi ngập kem sữa, và đá tuôn ra suối dầu ô-liu cho tôi.
Then, I washed my feet with butter, and a boulder poured out rivers of oil for me.
7 Thời ấy, khi tôi ra cổng thành và chọn ngồi giữa những lãnh đạo danh dự.
When I went to the gate of the city, or to the main street, they prepared a chair for me.
8 Người trẻ tuổi đứng sang một bên khi thấy tôi, còn người lớn tuổi đứng lên chào đón.
The youths saw me and hid themselves, and the elders, rising up, remained standing.
9 Các hoàng tử đứng lên im tiếng, và lấy tay che miệng lại.
The leaders stopped talking, and they placed a finder over their mouth.
10 Các quan chức cao của thành đứng yên lặng, giữ lưỡi mình trong kính trọng.
The commanders subdued their voice, and their tongue adhered to their throat.
11 Ai nghe tôi nói đều khen ngợi, Ai thấy tôi đều nói tốt cho tôi.
The ear that heard me, blessed me, and the eye that saw me, gave testimony for me.
12 Vì tôi giải cứu người nghèo khổ khi họ cần đến, và trẻ mồ côi cần nơi nương tựa.
This was because I had freed the poor, who cried out, and the orphan, who had no helper.
13 Những người đang hấp hối cũng chúc tụng tôi. Và người góa bụa nhờ tôi mà tâm hồn ca hát.
The blessing of him who would have been destroyed came upon me, and I consoled the heart of the widow.
14 Mọi thứ tôi làm là chân thật. Tôi mặc lấy công chính như áo, và công lý như khăn quấn trên đầu tôi.
I put on justice, and I clothed myself with my judgment, like a robe and a diadem.
15 Tôi là mắt cho người mù và chân cho người què
I was an eye for the blind and a foot for the lame.
16 Tôi là cha của người nghèo khó, và tra xét hoàn cảnh cho khách lạ.
I was the father of the poor; and if I lacked knowledge about any case, I investigated very diligently.
17 Tôi bẻ nanh vuốt bọn gian manh vô đạo và rứt các nạn nhân ra khỏi răng chúng nó.
I crushed the jaws of the impious, and I took away prey from his teeth.
18 Tôi tự bảo: ‘Chắc tôi sẽ được chết trong nhà tôi, khi những ngày của tôi đã nhiều như cát.
And I said, “I will die in my little nest, and like a palm tree, I will multiply my days.
19 Vì tôi như rễ sẽ ăn ra cho đến dòng nước, cả đêm sương đọng trên cành lá tôi.
My root has been spread beside the waters, and the dew will remain with my harvest.
20 Vinh quang tôi sẽ mãi sáng chói trong tôi, và sức mạnh tôi tiếp tục mới mẻ.’
My glory will always be restored, and my bow will be restored to my hand.”
21 Mọi người lắng tai nghe ý kiến tôi. Họ im lặng nghe tôi khuyên nhủ.
Those who heard me, expected vindication, and they listened closely in silence to my counsel.
22 Sau khi tôi nói, họ không còn gì để thêm, vì lời tôi nói làm hài lòng họ.
To my words, they dared to add nothing, and my eloquence poured over them.
23 Họ mong tôi nói như người ta đợi mưa. Họ uống lời tôi như uống nước mưa xuân.
They waited for me as for rain, and they opened their mouth as for belated rains.
24 Khi họ nản lòng tôi cười với họ. Mặt tôi rạng rỡ làm khích lệ họ.
If I had ever laughed at them, they would not have believed it, and the light of my face was not cast down towards the ground.
25 Như một thủ lãnh, tôi chỉ dẫn điều họ phải làm. Tôi sống như nhà vua giữa đạo binh mình và an ủi những ai sầu khổ.”
If I wished to go to them, I sat down first, and, though I sat like a king surrounded by an army, yet I was a comforter to those who mourned.
