1 Gióp tiếp tục biện luận:
Moreouer Iob proceeded and continued his parable, saying,
2 “Thật như Đức Chúa Trời Hằng Sống, Đấng tước lấy công chính tôi, Đấng Toàn Năng làm cho linh hồn tôi cay đắng—
The liuing God hath taken away my iudgement: for the Almightie hath put my soule in bitternesse.
3 Ngày nào tôi còn sự sống, và hơi thở Đức Chúa Trời còn trong mũi tôi,
Yet so long as my breath is in me, and the Spirit of God in my nostrels,
4 môi miệng tôi sẽ không nói lời nào gian ác, và lưỡi tôi sẽ không dối trá gạt lừa.
My lips surely shall speake no wickednesse, and my tongue shall vtter no deceite.
5 Hẳn tôi không thể nào cho các anh là phải; cho đến chết, tôi vẫn coi mình liêm chính.
God forbid, that I should iustifie you: vntill I dye, I will neuer take away mine innocencie from my selfe.
6 Tôi vẫn giữ vững sự công chính, không rời bỏ. Suốt đời, tôi không bị lương tâm tố cáo.
I will keepe my righteousnesse, and wil not forsake it: mine heart shall not reprooue me of my dayes.
7 Ước gì thù nghịch tôi giống như kẻ gian ác, người chống đối tôi như kẻ bất nghĩa.
Mine enemie shall be as the wicked, and he that riseth against me, as the vnrighteous.
8 Kẻ vô đạo còn hy vọng gì khi bị Đức Chúa Trời cất mạng sống đi?
For what hope hath the hypocrite when he hath heaped vp riches, if God take away his soule?
9 Đức Chúa Trời có nghe tiếng nó kêu to khi nó gặp tai họa bất ngờ?
Will God heare his cry, when trouble commeth vpon him?
10 Nó có thể vui thích trong Đấng Toàn Năng, và thường xuyên kêu cầu Đức Chúa Trời không?
Will he set his delight on the Almightie? will he call vpon God at all times?
11 Tôi sẽ dạy các anh về quyền năng Đức Chúa Trời. Không giấu các anh điều gì về Đấng Toàn Năng.
I will teache you what is in the hande of God, and I wil not conceale that which is with the Almightie.
12 Nhưng những điều ấy các anh đều biết cả, mà sao các anh vẫn nói những lời vô nghĩa với tôi.
Beholde, all ye your selues haue seene it: why then doe you thus vanish in vanitie?
13 Đây là số phận Đức Chúa Trời dành cho người gian tà; đây là cơ nghiệp kẻ độc ác nhận từ Đấng Toàn Năng:
This is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of tyrants, which they shall receiue of the Almightie.
14 Dù nó có đông con cái, nhưng con cái nó sẽ chết vì chiến tranh và vì đói khát.
If his children be in great nomber, the sworde shall destroy them, and his posteritie shall not be satisfied with bread.
15 Những đứa sống sót cũng chết vì bệnh tật, ngay cả vợ góa của nó cũng chẳng buồn khóc than.
His remnant shall be buried in death, and his widowes shall not weepe.
16 Kẻ ác gom góp bạc tiền như núi, và sắm sửa áo quần đầy tủ,
Though he shoulde heape vp siluer as the dust, and prepare rayment as the clay,
17 Nhưng người công chính sẽ mặc quần áo, và người vô tội sẽ chia nhau tiền bạc nó.
He may prepare it, but the iust shall put it on, and the innocent shall deuide the siluer.
18 Nhà kẻ ác cất giống như tổ sâu tằm, chẳng khác gì chòi của người canh.
He buildeth his house as the moth, and as a lodge that the watchman maketh.
19 Khi đi ngủ kẻ ác vẫn giàu có, nhưng lúc thức dậy sự nghiệp tan tành.
When the rich man sleepeth, he shall not be gathered to his fathers: they opened their eyes, and he was gone.
20 Kinh hoàng chụp lấy nó như nước lụt và ban đêm cơn lốc cuốn nó đi.
Terrours shall take him as waters, and a tempest shall cary him away by night.
21 Trận gió đông đùa nó bay đi mất. Ngọn trốt bốc hắn ra khỏi chỗ hắn.
The East winde shall take him away, and he shall depart: and it shall hurle him out of his place.
22 Sức mạnh ấy quật vào mình hắn không thương xót. Nó vùng vẫy chạy trốn trận cuồng phong.
And God shall cast vpon him and not spare, though he would faine flee out of his hand.
23 Nhưng mọi người nhạo cười và chế giễu nó.”
Euery man shall clap their hands at him, and hisse at him out of their place.
