Giê-rê-mi-a 36
1 Năm thứ tư triều Giê-hô-gia-kim, con Giô-si-a, vua Giu-đa, Chúa Hằng Hữu ban sứ điệp này cho Giê-rê-mi:
And it came to pass in the fourth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, that this word came to Jeremias by the Lord, saying:
2 “Hãy lấy một cuộn sách mà chép tất cả sứ điệp Ta cảnh cáo Ít-ra-ên, Giu-đa, và các nước khác. Bắt đầu sứ điệp thứ nhất từ đời Giô-si-a, và viết xuống mỗi sứ điệp cho đến ngày nay.
Take thee a roll of a book, and thou shalt write in it all the words that I have spoken to thee against Israel and Juda, and against all the nations from the day that I spoke to thee, from the days of Josias even to this day.
3 Có lẽ, người Giu-đa sẽ ăn năn khi nghe về mọi tai họa Ta định giáng trên chúng. Rồi Ta sẽ tha thứ gian ác và tội lỗi của chúng.”
If so be, when the house of Juda shall hear all the evils that I purpose to do unto them, that they may return every man from his wicked way: and I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin.
4 Vậy, Giê-rê-mi gọi Ba-rúc, con Nê-ri-gia, và theo lời đọc của Giê-rê-mi về tất cả lời tiên tri mà Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo ông, Ba-rúc viết tất cả xuống cuộn sách.
So Jeremias called Baruch the son of Nerias: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremias all the words of the Lord, which he spoke to him, upon the roll of a book.
5 Rồi Giê-rê-mi bảo Ba-rúc: “Tôi còn bị giam cầm và không được lên Đền Thờ.
And Jeremias commanded Baruch, saying: I am shut up, and cannot go into the house of the Lord.
6 Vậy, anh hãy đem cuộn sách này vào Đền Thờ trong ngày lễ kiêng ăn, và đọc cho dân chúng nghe sứ điệp của Chúa Hằng Hữu mà tôi vừa bảo anh ghi chép trong cuộn sách này. Hãy đọc sứ điệp này để dân chúng từ các thành Giu-đa về đền thờ dự lễ đều nghe được.
Go thou in therefore, and read out of the volume, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the Lord, in the hearing of all the people in the house of the Lord on the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the hearing of all Juda that come out of their cities:
7 Có lẽ họ sẽ lìa bỏ đường gian ác và cầu khẩn sự tha thứ của Chúa Hằng Hữu trước khi quá trễ. Vì cơn giận và thịnh nộ của Chúa ngăm đe họ thật khủng khiếp.”
If so be they may present their supplication before the Lord, and may return every one from his wicked way: for great is the wrath and indignation which the Lord hath pronounced against this people.
8 Ba-rúc làm theo lời Giê-rê-mi dặn bảo và đọc mọi sứ điệp của Chúa Hằng Hữu cho dân chúng tại Đền Thờ.
And Baruch the son of Nerias did according to all that Jeremias the prophet had commanded him, reading out of the volume the words of the Lord in the house of the Lord.
9 Ông làm việc này trong ngày lễ kiêng ăn vào tháng chín, năm thứ năm trị vì của Giê-hô-gia-kim, con Giô-si-a. Dân chúng từ khắp nơi trong nước Giu-đa về Giê-ru-sa-lem dự lễ tại Đền Thờ trong ngày ấy.
And it came to pass in the fifth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the Lord to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that were come together out of the cities of Juda to Jerusalem.
10 Ba-rúc đọc mọi lời của Giê-rê-mi trong cuộn sách cho tất cả dân chúng. Ông đứng trước Đền Thờ phía trước phòng của Ghê-ma-ria, con Thư ký Sa-phan. Phòng này ở trên sân thượng của Đền Thờ, cạnh lối vào Cửa Mới.
And Baruch read out of the volume the words of Jeremias in the house of the Lord, in the treasury of Gamarias the son of Saphan the scribe, in the upper court, in the entry of the new gate of the house of the Lord, in the hearing of all the people.
11 Khi Mi-chê, con Ghê-ma-ria, cháu Sa-phan, nghe xong sứ điệp của Chúa Hằng Hữu,
And when Micheas the son of Gamarias the son of Saphan had heard out of the book all the words of the Lord,
12 ông đi xuống phòng thư ký trong cung vua, nơi các quan chức triều đình đang họp. Thư ký Ê-li-sa-ma có mặt tại đó cùng với Đê-la-gia, con Sê-ma-gia, Ên-na-than, con Ạc-bồ, Ghê-ma-ria, con Sa-phan, Sê-đê-kia, con Ha-na-nia, và các quan chức khác.
He went down into the king’s house to the secretary’s chamber: and behold all the princes sat there, Elisama the scribe, and Dalaias the son of Semeias, and Elnathan the son of Achobor, and Gamarias the son of Saphan, and Sedecias the son of Hananias, and all the princes.
13 Khi Mi-chê báo với họ về các sứ điệp Ba-rúc đã đọc cho dân chúng nghe,
And Micheas told them all the words that he had heard when Baruch read out of the volume in the hearing of the people.
14 các quan chức liền sai Giê-hu-đi, con Nê-tha-nia, cháu Sê-lê-mia, chắt Cút-si, yêu cầu Ba-rúc đến và đọc cho họ nghe sứ điệp của Chúa. Vậy, Ba-rúc lấy cuộn sách và mang tới họ.
Therefore all the princes sent Judi the son of Nathanias, the son of Selemias, the son of Chusi, to Baruch, saying: Take in thy hand the volume in which thou hast read in the hearing of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Nerias took the volume in his hand, and came to them.
15 Các quan chức nói: “Hãy ngồi xuống và đọc cho chúng ta nghe.” Ba-rúc làm theo lời họ yêu cầu.
And they said to him: Sit down and read these things in our hearing. And Baruch read in their hearing.
16 Khi họ nghe xong tất cả sứ điệp này, họ hoảng sợ nhìn nhau, rồi bảo Ba-rúc: “Chúng ta phải tâu việc này lên vua.
And when they had heard all the words, they looked upon one another with astonishment, and they said to Baruch: We must tell the king all these words.
17 Nhưng trước hết hãy cho chúng tôi biết nhờ đâu ông viết những sứ điệp này. Có phải Giê-rê-mi đọc cho ông chép không?”
And they asked him, saying: Tell us how didst thou write all these words from his mouth.
18 Ba-rúc giải thích: “Giê-rê-mi đã đọc những lời đó và tôi dùng mực viết xuống, từng chữ một, vào cuộn sách này.”
And Baruch said to them: With his mouth he pronounced all these words as if he were reading to me: and I wrote in a volume with ink.
19 Các quan chức nói với Ba-rúc: “Ông và Giê-rê-mi phải tìm chỗ trốn ngay. Đừng cho ai biết các ông ở đâu!”
And the princes said to Baruch: Go, and hide thee, both thou and Jeremias, and let no man know where you are.
20 Rồi các quan chức giấu cuộn sách trong phòng của Thư ký Ê-li-sa-ma, rồi vào cung tâu lại với vua chuyện vừa xảy ra.
And they went in to the king into the court: but they laid up the volume in the chamber of Elisama the scribe: and they told all the words in the hearing of the king.
21 Vua sai Giê-hu-đi lấy cuộn sách. Giê-hu-đi mang sách về từ phòng của Thư ký Ê-li-sa-ma và đọc cho vua nghe cũng như các quần thần túc trực quanh vua.
And the king sent Judi that he should take the volume: who bringing it out of the chamber of Elisama the scribe, read it in the hearing of the king, and of all the princes that stood about the king.
22 Lúc ấy vào cuối mùa thu, vua đang ngồi trong cung mùa đông, trước lò sưởi.
Now the king sat in the winter house, In the ninth month: and there was a hearth before him full of burning coals.
23 Mỗi lần Giê-hu-đi đọc xong ba hay bốn cột, thì vua lấy con dao và cắt phần giấy đó. Vua ném nó vào lửa, hết phần này đến phần khác, cho đến khi cả cuộn sách bị thiêu rụi.
And when Judi had read three or four pages, he cut it with the penknife, and he cast it into the Are, that was upon the hearth, till all the volume was consumed with the fire that was on the hearth.
24 Cả vua lẫn quần thần đều không tỏ vẻ lo sợ hoặc ăn năn về những điều đã nghe.
And the king and all his servants that heard all these words were not afraid, nor did they rend their garments.
25 Dù Ên-na-than, Đê-la-gia, và Ghê-ma-ria đã tìm cách ngăn vua đừng đốt sách, nhưng vua nhất quyết không nghe.
But yet Elnathan, and Dalaias, and Gamarias spoke to the king, not to burn. the book: and he heard them not.
26 Vua còn ra lệnh cho con trai mình là Giê-rác-mê-ên, Sê-ra-gia, con Ách-ri-ên, và Sê-lê-mia, con Áp-đê-ên, truy bắt Ba-rúc và Giê-rê-mi. Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu đã giấu hai người.
And the king commanded Jeremiel the son of Amelech, and Saraias the son of Ezriel, and Selemias the son of Abdeel, to take up Baruch the scribe, and Jeremias the prophet: but the Lord hid them.
27 Sau khi vua đốt cuộn sách mà Ba-rúc đã ghi chép theo lời Giê-rê-mi, Chúa Hằng Hữu ban cho Giê-rê-mi một sứ điệp khác. Chúa phán:
And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the prophet, after that the king had burnt the volume, and the words that Baruch had written from the mouth of Jeremias, saying:
28 “Hãy lấy một cuộn sách khác, chép lại mọi lời trong sách mà Vua Giê-hô-gia-kim đã đốt.
Take thee again another volume: and write in it all the former words that were in the first volume which Joakim the king of Juda hath burnt.
29 Sau đó nói với vua rằng: ‘Đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: Ngươi đốt cuộn sách vì sách ghi rằng vua Ba-by-lôn sẽ tiêu diệt đất nước này, luôn cả người và vật.
And thou shalt say to Joakim the king of Juda: Thus saith the Lord: Thou hast burnt that volume, saying: Why hast thou written therein, and said: The king of Babylon shall come speedily, and shall lay waste this land: and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
30 Bây giờ, đây là điều Chúa Hằng Hữu phán về Giê-hô-gia-kim, vua Giu-đa: Nó sẽ chẳng có hậu tự nào được ngồi trên ngôi Đa-vít. Thây nó sẽ bị ném ra ngoài, phơi nắng ban ngày và dầm sương già ban đêm.
Therefore thus saith the Lord against Joakim the king of Juda: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out to the heat by day, and to the frost by night.
31 Ta sẽ hình phạt nó, dòng tộc nó, và triều thần nó vì tội lỗi của chúng nó. Ta sẽ đổ trên chúng, trên cả dân chúng Giu-đa và Giê-ru-sa-lem, tất cả tai họa mà Ta đã loan báo, vì chúng không chịu nghe lời Ta cảnh cáo.’”
And I will punish him, and his seed and his servants, for their iniquities, and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Juda all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they have not heard.
32 Giê-rê-mi bèn lấy một cuộn sách khác và đọc lại cho thư ký của mình là Ba-rúc. Ông viết lại mọi điều trong cuộn sách mà Vua Giê-hô-gia-kim đã đốt trong lửa. Lần này, ông còn thêm nhiều chi tiết khác nữa!
And Jeremias took another volume, and gave it to Baruch the son of Nerias the scribe: who wrote in it from the mouth of Jeremias all the words of the book which Joakim the king of Juda had burnt with fire: and there were added besides many more words than had been before.
