1 Này những người giàu có, bây giờ là lúc anh chị em phải khóc lóc, kêu than vì tai hoạ thảm khốc sắp đổ xuống trên anh chị em.
Come now, you rich, howl as you weep over your distresses that are coming upon you!
2 Của cải anh chị em hư nát và áo quần đẹp đẽ bị mối ăn tơi tả.
Your wealth has decayed and your clothes have become moth-eaten.
3 Bạc vàng anh chị em bị mất giá, đó là một bằng chứng tố cáo anh chị em, thiêu hủy thể xác anh chị em như lửa. Anh chị em đã tích trữ tiền của trong những ngày cuối cùng.
Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire—you stored it up for the last days.
4 Hãy nghe tiếng kêu than của nông dân bị anh chị em bóc lột, tiếng kêu ấy đã thấu đến tai Chúa Toàn Năng.
Look, the wages of the workers who cut your fields, that were unjustly held back by you, cry out, and the loud cries of the reapers have entered the ears of the Lord of Hosts.
5 Anh chị em đã sống những chuỗi ngày hoan lạc xa hoa trên đất, đã nuôi mình mập béo giữa thời kỳ tàn sát.
You have lived on the earth in self-indulgence and luxury, you fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter.
6 Anh chị em đã kết án và xử tử người công chính mà họ không chống cự.
You condemned, you murdered the righteous—he offers you no resistance.
7 Về phần anh chị em là người đang trông đợi Chúa trở lại, hãy kiên nhẫn như người làm ruộng chờ đợi mùa lúa chín.
Therefore, brothers, be patient until the coming of the Lord. Consider, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it until it receives the early and late rain.
8 Phải, anh chị em hãy nhẫn nại, vững lòng vì Chúa gần đến.
You also be patient. Keep your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord has approached.
9 Anh chị em đừng phàn nàn trách móc lẫn nhau, chính anh chị em cũng không thoát khỏi lỗi lầm đáng trách. Kìa, vị Thẩm Phán tối cao sắp bước vào tòa xét xử.
Do not groan against one another, brothers, lest you be judged. Look, the Judge is standing at your doors!
10 Hãy noi gương các bậc tiên tri ngày xưa, kiên nhẫn chịu khổ nạn để truyền giảng lời Chúa.
Brothers, take as an example the patient bearing of hardship and the steadfastness of the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
11 Chúng ta biết hiện nay họ hưởng phước lớn, vì đã trung thành với Chúa qua bao gian khổ. Anh chị em biết gương kiên nhẫn của Gióp, và cuối cùng Chúa ban phước cho ông, vì Ngài là Đấng nhân từ, thương xót.
Indeed we count as blessed those who endure—you have heard of the perseverance of Job and have seen the final outcome given by the Lord, that He is very compassionate and merciful.
12 Thưa anh chị em, trong mọi trường hợp, đừng chỉ trời, đất hay bất cứ vật gì mà thề. Phải thì nói phải, không thì nói không, để anh chị em khỏi bị kết án.
But above all, my brothers, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or any other oath. Let your “Yes” be “Yes”, and your “No”, “No”, lest you fall into pretense.
13 Giữa vòng anh chị em, có ai gặp hoạn nạn? Người ấy hãy cầu nguyện. Có ai vui mừng? Hãy ca hát tôn vinh Chúa.
Is anyone among you suffering hardship? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.
14 Có ai đau yếu? Hãy mời các trưởng lão trong Hội Thánh đến nhân danh Chúa xức dầu cầu nguyện.
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the congregation, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 Lời cầu nguyện do đức tin sẽ chữa lành người bệnh. Vì Chúa sẽ đỡ người bệnh dậy, nếu người ấy có tội, Chúa sẽ tha thứ.
And the prayer of faith will deliver the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sin, it will be forgiven him.
16 Hãy nhận lỗi với nhau và cầu nguyện cho nhau để anh chị em được lành bệnh. Lời cầu nguyện của người công chính rất mạnh mẽ và hiệu nghiệm.
Confess your transgressions to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous one, being operative, is very powerful.
17 Ê-li cũng chỉ là người như chúng ta, nhưng khi ông cầu xin khẩn thiết cho đừng mưa, thì trong ba năm rưỡi chẳng có mưa rơi xuống đất.
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months.
18 Rồi ông cầu xin cho mưa trở lại, trời liền mưa và đất đai sinh hoa mầu.
And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth produced its fruit.
19 Thưa anh chị em thân yêu, nếu có ai lầm lạc, rời xa Đức Chúa Trời, và có người dìu dắt trở về với Ngài,
Brothers, if anyone among you should wander away from the truth, and someone should turn him back,
20 thì nên biết rằng dìu dắt người lầm lạc trở lại với Chúa là cứu một linh hồn khỏi chết, và giúp người ấy được tha thứ vô số tội lỗi.
let him know that the one who turns a sinner back from the error of his way will deliver a soul from death and will remove from sight a multitude of sins.
