Gia-cơ 1
1 Đây là thư của Gia-cơ, đầy tớ của Đức Chúa Trời và Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu. Kính gửi lời chào “mười hai đại tộc”—các tín hữu Do Thái tản lạc khắp các nước. Chúc anh chị em an vui!
Iames a seruant of God, and of the Lord Iesus Christ, to the twelue Tribes, which are scattered abroade, salutation.
2 Thưa anh chị em, phải chăng anh chị em hiện đương đầu với bao nhiêu gian lao thử thách? Hãy vui mừng lên,
My brethren, count it exceeding ioy, when ye fall into diuers tentations,
3 vì đường đức tin của anh chị em có chông gai hiểm trở, nghị lực mới có cơ hội phát triển.
Knowing that ye trying of your faith bringeth forth patience,
4 Cứ để cho nghị lực phát triển, đừng tìm cách lảng tránh khó khăn. Một khi nghị lực phát triển trọn vẹn, anh chị em sẽ vững mạnh và được trang bị đầy đủ để đương đầu mọi cảnh ngộ.
And let patience haue her perfect worke, that ye may be perfect and entier, lacking nothing.
5 Nếu anh chị em không hiểu biết đường lối Chúa, hãy cầu xin Ngài chỉ dẫn, vì Ngài không quở trách những người cầu xin, nhưng luôn luôn sẵn sàng ban khôn ngoan dồi dào cho họ.
If any of you lacke wisedome, let him aske of God, which giueth to all men liberally, and reprocheth no man, and it shalbe giuen him.
6 Khi anh chị em cầu xin, phải tin chắc Chúa nhậm lời, đừng hoài nghi. Vì tâm trạng người hoài nghi giống như sóng biển bị gió dập dồi.
But let him aske in faith, and wauer not: for hee that wauereth, is like a waue of the sea, tost of the winde, and caried away.
7 Người như thế đừng mong Chúa ban gì cho mình.
Neither let that man thinke that hee shall receiue any thing of the Lord.
8 Vì đó là một người phân tâm, bất nhất, không quyết định được điều gì trong mọi việc người làm.
A double minded man is vnstable in all his waies.
9 Nếu anh chị em nghèo, nên tự hào về điều đó, vì Đức Chúa Trời tôn trọng anh chị em.
Let the brother of lowe degree reioyce in that he is exalted:
10 Nếu anh chị em giàu sang, cũng nên vui mừng, vì Chúa giúp mình biết khiêm nhu. Người giàu ở đời này sẽ qua đi như hoa cỏ chóng tàn.
Againe hee that is rich, in that hee is made lowe: for as the flower of the grasse, shall he vanish away.
11 Dưới ánh mặt trời thiêu đốt, cây sẽ héo, hoa sẽ rơi, sắc hương sẽ tàn tạ. Người giàu cũng vậy, sẽ tàn lụi cùng với những thành tựu của đời mình.
For as when the sunne riseth with heate, then the grasse withereth, and his flower falleth away, and the goodly shape of it perisheth: euen so shall the rich man wither away in all his waies.
12 Người nào bị cám dỗ mà biết giữ mình, không phạm tội, là người có phước. Đức Chúa Trời sẽ đặt trên đầu họ mão miện sự sống, vì Ngài đã hứa ban phần thưởng ấy cho những người yêu mến Ngài.
Blessed is ye man, that endureth tentation: for when he is tried, hee shall receiue the crowne of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that loue him.
13 Khi bị cám dỗ, đừng đổ lỗi cho Đức Chúa Trời, vì Đức Chúa Trời không hề làm điều sai quấy và chẳng bao giờ cám dỗ ai.
Let no man say when hee is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God can not bee tempted with euill, neither tempteth he any man.
14 Chính những tư tưởng, dục vọng xấu xa trong con người thôi thúc, tạo ra sự cám dỗ.
But euery man is tempted, when hee is drawen away by his owne concupiscence, and is entised.
15 Tư tưởng xấu xa sẽ biến thành hành động tội lỗi; tội lỗi phát triển đem lại cái chết.
Then when lust hath conceiued, it bringeth foorth sinne, and sinne when it is finished, bringeth foorth death.
16 Vậy, xin anh chị em đừng nhầm lẫn về điều đó.
Erre not, my deare brethren.
17 Những gì tốt đẹp, toàn hảo đều đến từ Đức Chúa Trời là Nguồn Sáng thiên thượng. Ngài chiếu sáng muôn đời, chẳng hề biến đổi, lu mờ.
Euery good giuing, and euery perfect gift is from aboue, and commeth downe from the Father of lights, with whome is no variablenes, neither shadow of turning.
18 Do ý định tốt đẹp của Chúa, Ngài dùng Đạo chân lý ban cho chúng ta cuộc sống mới. Nhờ đó, chúng ta trở thành những người con đầu lòng trong gia đình mới của Ngài.
Of his owne will begate hee vs with the woorde of trueth, that we shoulde be as the first fruites of his creatures.
19 Anh chị em nên ghi nhớ điều này. Phải nghe nhiều, nói ít, và đừng giận dữ.
Wherefore my deare brethren, let euery man be swift to heare, slowe to speake, and slowe to wrath.
20 Vì giận dữ ngăn trở chúng ta thực hiện điều công chính của Đức Chúa Trời.
For the wrath of man doeth not accomplish the righteousnesse of God.
21 Vậy, hãy loại bỏ mọi thứ xấu xa trong cuộc sống và khiêm cung tiếp nhận Đạo vào sâu trong lòng, là Đạo có quyền cứu rỗi linh hồn anh chị em.
Wherefore lay apart all filthinesse, and superfluitie of maliciousnesse, and receiue with meekenes the word that is graffed in you, which is able to saue your soules.
22 Đạo Chúa không phải chỉ để nghe suông nhưng để thực hành. Đừng tự dối mình, cho rằng chỉ nghe là đủ.
And be ye doers of the word, and not hearers onely, deceiuing your owne selues.
23 Người nào nghe Đạo mà không làm theo, cũng giống như một người soi gương,
For if any heare the woorde, and doe it not, he is like vnto a man, that beholdeth his naturall face in a glasse.
24 nhìn qua mặt mình rồi bỏ đi, quên mất là dơ hay sạch.
For when he hath considered himselfe, hee goeth his way, and forgetteth immediately what maner of one he was.
25 Nhưng nếu ai chú tâm soi mình trước tấm gương luật pháp toàn hảo của Đức Chúa Trời, là luật pháp đem lại sự tự do, lại ghi nhớ và thực hành, chắc chắn sẽ được phước lành trong mọi việc mình làm.
But who so looketh in the perfect Lawe of libertie, and continueth therein, hee not being a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the woorke, shalbe blessed in his deede.
26 Người nào tự xưng là con cái Chúa mà không chịu kiềm chế miệng lưỡi, là tự lừa dối mình, giữ đạo như thế chẳng có ích gì.
If any man amog you seeme religious, and refraineth not his tongue, but deceiueth his owne heart, this mans religion is vaine.
27 Đối với Đức Chúa Trời, Cha chúng ta, người theo Đạo thanh khiết, không tì vít là người săn sóc các cô nhi quả phụ, trung thành với Chúa và giữ mình khỏi bị tiêm nhiễm thói hư tật xấu của người đời.
Pure religion and vndefiled before God, euen the Father, is this, to visite the fatherlesse, and widdowes in their aduersitie, and to keepe himselfe vnspotted of the world.
