1 Gia-cốp bảo các con trai hội họp lại để nghe ông nói trước việc tương lai của họ:
Then called Jacob unto his sons, —and said—Gather yourselves together, and let me tell you, that which shall befall you in the afterpart of the days.
2 “Các con trai Gia-cốp, hãy họp lại đây; để nghe lời của Ít-ra-ên, cha của các con.
Assemble yourselves and hear ye sons of Jacob, —And hearken unto Israel your father!
3 Con trưởng nam Ru-bên, là sinh lực và sức mạnh cha, với vinh dự và quyền năng tột đỉnh.
Reuben, my first-born, thou, My vigour, and the first-fruit of my strength, —Pre-eminence of elevation and pre-eminence of power:
4 Nhưng con bồng bột như thủy triều, nên đánh mất quyền huynh trưởng. Vì con đã vào phòng cha; làm ô uế giường cha.
Boiling over like water, thou mayest not have pre-eminence, Because thou didst mount the bed of thy father, —Then, wast thou profane—My marriage-bed, he mounted!
5 Hai anh em Si-mê-ôn và Lê-vi; sử dụng khí giới quá bạo tàn.
Simeon and Levi, are brethren, —Instruments of violence, are their agreements:
6 Linh hồn ta! Hãy tránh xa chúng nó; tâm linh ta! Chớ tham gia việc bất nhân. Trong căm hờn, gây cảnh thịt rơi máu đổ, và vui chơi bằng cách bắt bò cắt gân.
Into their circle, do not thou enter my soul! In their convocation, do not thou join mine honour! For in their anger, they slew brave men, And in their wantonness, they ham-strung oxen.
7 Cơn giận chúng nó bị nguyền rủa; vì quá độc địa và hung hăng. Cha sẽ tách chúng ra trong nhà Gia-cốp và phân tán dòng dõi hai con khắp lãnh thổ Ít-ra-ên.
Accursed, be their anger, because fierce, And their wrath because cruel, —I divide them in Jacob, And I disperse them in Israel.
8 Giu-đa! Con được các anh em ca tụng. Vì con chiến thắng kẻ thù xâm lăng.
Judah, as for thee, thy brethren shall praise thee when thy hand is on the neck of thy foes, —The sons of thy father, shall bow them-selves down to thee:
9 Sư tử tơ Giu-đa là chúa động. Các con trai của cha gặp con đều quỳ xuống. Oai hùng đem mồi về sau cuộc đi săn. Ngồi hoặc nằm uy nghi như sư tử đực. Như sư tử cái ai dám đánh thức.
A lion’s whelp, is Judah, From the prey, my son hast thou come up! He hath stooped—hath crouched As a lion—or as a lioness, Who shall rouse him?
10 Cây quyền trượng chẳng xa lìa Giu-đa, gậy chỉ huy cũng không rời khỏi hai gối chúng nó, cho đến chừng Đấng mọi người thần phục đến, là Đấng được toàn dân vâng phục người.
The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the commander’s staff from between his feet, —Until that he come in as a Shiloh, And, his, be the obedience of the peoples:
11 Con sẽ buộc lừa vào cành nho, dùng rượu nho giặt áo.
Binding, to the vine, his ass, And to the choice vine his ass’s colt, He hath washed in wine his raiment, And in the blood of grapes, his mantle:
12 Mắt con đậm màu rượu đỏ, sữa nhuộm trắng răng con.
Darker—his eyes, than wine, —Whiter—his teeth than milk!
13 Sa-bu-luân sẽ sống tại bờ biển, có hải cảng cho tàu cập bến, ranh giới con đến gần Si-đôn.
Zebulon, by a haven of seas, shall he settle down, —Even he, by a haven of ships, With his utmost part upon Zidon.
14 Y-sa-ca là con lừa lực lưỡng, nằm cạnh các kiện hàng.
Issachar, an ass of strength, —couching between the pens;
15 Đến nơi tốt đẹp liền tận hưởng, thấy cảnh vui tươi lại muốn giành, nên đành chịu cúi vai chở nặng, và buộc lòng phục dịch đàn anh.
Then beholdeth he rest, that it is good, And the ground that it is pleasant, —So he bendeth his shoulder to bear, And becometh a tributary servant.
16 Đan sẽ xử đoán dân mình, như những tộc khác của Ít-ra-ên.
Dan, shall vindicate his people, —as one of the tribes of Israel;
17 Đan là con rắn độc bên đường rình cắn vào gót ngựa, khiến kỵ sĩ nhào lăn!
It cometh to pass that, Dan, is a serpent upon the way, A horned viper, upon the path, —That biteth the heels of the horse, And his rider falleth backwards: —
18 Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu! Con chờ trông ơn Ngài giải cứu!
For thy salvation, have I waited O Yahweh!
19 Gát sẽ bị quân thù đột kích, nhưng con sẽ đuổi địch chạy dài.
Gad! a troop shall troop on him, —But, he, shall troop on the rear.
20 A-se sản xuất nhiều thức ăn ngon, và dọn yến tiệc cho vua chúa.
Out of Asher, fatness, is his food, —So, he, setteth forth dainties for a king.
21 Nép-ta-li là nai cái thong dong, sinh ra những nai con xinh đẹp.
Naphtali, is a slender hind, —That putteth forth antlers of beauty.
22 Giô-sép là một cây sai trái, mọc lên bên bờ suối trong xanh, cành lá vượt vách thành.
A fruitful bough, is Joseph, A fruitful bough over a fountain, —Branches creeping over a wall.
23 Bị cung tên kẻ thù dọa ngăm, tấn công và hãm hại.
So they attack him and have shot, —So they enclose him, do the masters of arrows.
24 Nhưng nhờ Chúa Toàn Năng của Gia-cốp, Đấng Chăn Chiên, Vầng Đá của Ít-ra-ên, cung tên con luôn luôn vững bền, cánh tay con càng thêm lanh lợi.
But abideth, as an enduring one, his bow, And supple are the arms of his hands, —From the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, From thence, is the Shepherd the Stone of Israel:
25 Đức Chúa Trời của cha sẽ giúp đỡ; Chúa Toàn Năng ban phước và phù hộ. Con sẽ được phước hạnh dồi dào, phước lành trên trời cao, phước lành nơi đất thấp, phước lành nuôi dưỡng và sinh sản.
From the GOD of thy father who doth help thee And GOD Almighty who doth bless thee, Blessings of the heavens, above, Blessings of the abyss, couching beneath, —Blessings of breasts and womb:
26 Phước lành cha chúc cho con sẽ cao hơn phước lành của tổ tông, lên đến các ngọn núi trường tồn. Các phước lành này sẽ ban trên Giô-sép, trên đỉnh đầu người lãnh đạo.
The blessings of thy father, have prevailed, Over the blessings of the perpetual mountains, The charm of the age-abiding hills, —They turn out to be, for the head of Joseph, And for the crown of the head of him who was set apart from his brethren.
27 Bên-gia-min là chó sói săn mồi, buổi sáng con tiêu diệt kẻ thù, đến chiều phân chia chiến lợi phẩm.”
Benjamin a wolf that teareth in pieces, In the morning, he eateth prey, And at eventide, he divideth spoil.
28 Đó là mười hai đại tộc Ít-ra-ên và lời chúc cho mười hai con trai của ông, mỗi người một lời chúc riêng biệt.
All these, are the twelve tribes of Israel, —And this, is that which their father spake to them when he blessed them, Each man severally according to the blessing wherewith he blessed them.
29 Rồi Gia-cốp dặn bảo họ: “Cha sắp qua đời. Các con hãy chôn cha nơi phần mộ tổ tiên, trong hang đá ở cánh đồng của Ép-rôn, người Hê-tít.
Then commanded he them and said unto them—I, am about to be gathered unto my people, Bury me among my fathers, —within the cave, that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite:
30 Đây là hang đá trong núi của cánh đồng Mạc-bê-la, gần Mam-rê, xứ Ca-na-an, mà Áp-ra-ham đã mua của Ép-rôn người Hê-tít, để làm nghĩa trang.
in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah which is over against Mamre, in the land of Canaan, —which Abraham bought, along with the field, from Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace: —
31 Người ta đã an táng Áp-ra-ham và Sa-ra, Y-sác, và Rê-bê-ca, và cha cũng đã chôn Lê-a tại đó.
There, buried they Abraham, and Sarah his wife, There, buried they Isaac, and Rebekah his wife, —And there, buried I Leah: —
32 Cánh đồng và hang núi ấy do con cháu Hê-tít bán lại.”
buying the field and the cave that is therein, from the sons of Heth.
33 Gia-cốp dứt lời, nằm xuống giường, và nhắm mắt tắt hơi.
So Jacob made an end of commanding his sons, and gathered up his feet into the couch, —and ceased to breathe and was gathered unto his people.
