1 Sa-ra qua đời hưởng thọ 127 tuổi,
Forsothe Sare lyuede an hundrid and seuene and twenti yeer,
2 bà qua đời tại Ki-ri-át A-ra-ba, tức Hếp-rôn, thuộc đất Ca-na-an. Áp-ra-ham để tang và than khóc vợ.
and diede in the citee of Arbee, which is Ebron, in the lond of Chanaan; and Abraham cam to biweyle and biwepe hir.
3 Đứng bên thi hài Sa-ra, Áp-ra-ham nói với các trưởng lão người Hê-tít:
And whanne he hadde rise fro the office of the deed bodi, he spak to the sones of Heth, and seide,
4 “Tôi chỉ là một kiều dân, tuy sống giữa các anh, nhưng không có đất ruộng. Xin các anh bán cho tôi một miếng đất làm nghĩa trang để an táng vợ tôi.”
Y am a comelyng and a pilgrym anentis you; yyue ye to me riyt of sepulcre with you, that Y birie my deed body.
5 Hê-tít đáp với Áp-ra-ham:
And the sones of Heth answeriden, and seiden, Lord, here thou vs;
6 “Vâng, chúng tôi vẫn coi ông là một bậc vương hầu của Đức Chúa Trời. Ông muốn chọn nghĩa trang nào tùy ý, chúng tôi không từ khước đâu!”
thou art the prince of God anentis vs; birie thou thi deed bodi in oure chosun sepulcris, and no man schal mow forbede thee, that ne thou birie thi deed bodi in the sepulcre of him.
7 Áp-ra-ham cúi đầu trước mặt họ và
And Abraham roos, and worschipide the puple of the lond, that is, the sones of Heth.
8 nói: “Các anh đã có nhã ý như thế, xin làm ơn nói giúp Ép-rôn, con Xô-ha.
And he seide to hem, If it plesith youre soule that Y birie my deed bodi, here ye me, and preie ye for me to Efron, the sone of Seor,
9 Vui lòng bán cho tôi hang núi Mạc-bê-la ở cuối khu đất của anh ta. Tôi xin trả đúng thời giá để mua hang ấy làm nghĩa trang cho gia đình.”
that he yyue to me the double caue, whiche he hath in the vttirmoste part of his feeld; for sufficiaunt money yyue he it to me bifore you into possessioun of sepulcre.
10 Đang ngồi giữa các người Hê-tít, Ép-rôn trả lời trước mặt dân trong thành phố:
Forsothe Efron dwellide in the myddis of the sones of Heth. And Efron answerde to Abraham, while alle men herden that entriden bi the yate of that citee,
11 “Thưa ông, tôi xin biếu ông cả hang lẫn khu đất. Đây, có mọi người làm chứng, tôi xin tặng để ông an táng xác bà.”
and seide, My lord, it schal not be doon so, but more herkne thou that that Y seie; Y yyue to thee the feeld, and the denne which is therine, while the sones of my puple ben present; birie thou thi deed bodi.
12 Áp-ra-ham lại cúi đầu trước mặt dân bản xứ
Abraham worschipide bifor the Lord, and bifor the puple of the lond,
13 và đáp lời Ép-rôn trong khi dân chúng lắng tai nghe: “Không dám, tôi chỉ xin mua và trả giá sòng phẳng. Xin anh vui lòng nhận tiền, tôi mới dám an táng vợ tôi.”
and he spak to Efron, while his puple stood aboute, Y biseche, that thou here me; Y schal yyue money for the feeld, resseyue thou it, and so Y schal birie my deed bodi in the feeld.
14 Ép-rôn đáp cùng Áp-ra-ham:
And Efron answerde, My lord,
15 “Miếng đất trị giá 400 miếng bạc, nhưng chỗ bà con quen biết có nghĩa gì đâu! Xin ông cứ an táng bà đi.”
here thou me, the lond which thou axist is worth foure hundrid siclis of siluer, that is the prijs bitwixe me and thee, but hou myche is this? birie thou thi deed bodi.
16 Nghe chủ đất định giá, Áp-ra-ham cân 400 miếng bạc theo cân lượng thị trường và trả cho Ép-rôn trước sự chứng kiến của người Hê-tít.
And whanne Abraham hadde herd this, he noumbride the monei which Efron axide, while the sones of Heth herden, foure hundrid siclis of siluer, and of preuyd comyn monei.
17 Vậy, Áp-ra-ham mua cánh đồng của Ép-rôn tại Mạc-bê-la, gần Mam-rê, gồm cánh đồng có hang đá và tất cả cây cối trong cánh đồng.
And the feeld that was sumtyme of Efron, in which feeld was a double denne, biholdinge to Mambre, as wel thilke feeld as the denne and alle the trees therof, in alle termes therof bi cumpas, was confermed to Abraham in to possessioun,
18 Tài sản đó thuộc quyền sở hữu của Áp-ra-ham có người Hê-tít chứng kiến tại cổng thành phố.
while the sones of Heth seiyen and alle men that entriden bi the yate of that citee.
19 Áp-ra-ham an táng vợ, là Sa-rai, tại Ca-na-an, trong hang núi Mạc-bê-la, gần Mam-rê (còn gọi là Hếp-rôn).
And so Abraham biriede Sare, his wijf, in the double denne of the feeld, that bihelde to Mambre; this is Ebron in the lond of Chanaan.
20 Như vậy, Áp-ra-ham sử dụng khu đất và hang núi mua từ người Hê-tít để làm nghĩa trang cho dòng họ.
And the feeld, and the denne that was therynne, was confermyd of the sones of Heth to Abraham, in to possessioun of sepulcre.
