Giảng Sư 2
1 Tôi lại tự bảo: “Hãy đến, tận hưởng khoái lạc. Hãy xem thử ‘những điều tốt’ trong cuộc sống.” Nhưng tôi khám phá rằng đó là điều vô nghĩa.

2 Vậy, tôi nói: “Cười là điên rồ. Tìm kiếm thú vui đem lại được gì chăng?”

3 Sau nhiều suy nghĩ, tôi quyết định dùng men rượu cho lòng phấn khởi. Và trong khi tìm kiếm sự khôn ngoan, tôi thử làm theo điều dại dột. Trong cách này, tôi cố gắng để thấy điều gì là vui vẻ cho con người trong cuộc đời phù du trên đất.

4 Tôi cố gắng tìm ý nghĩa bằng cách xây nhiều nhà rộng lớn cho mình và vun trồng những vườn nho xinh đẹp.
to magnify deed: work my to build to/for me house: home to plant to/for me vineyard
5 Tôi lập cho mình những vườn hoa và vườn cây đủ mọi loài cây ăn trái.
to make to/for me garden and park and to plant in/on/with them tree all fruit
6 Tôi đào cho mình những hồ chứa nước để tưới ruộng vườn.
to make to/for me pool water to/for to water: watering from them wood to spring tree
7 Tôi lại mua nhiều nô lệ, cả nam lẫn nữ, và có nhiều nô lệ đã sinh trong nhà tôi. Tôi cũng làm chủ nhiều bầy súc vật và bầy chiên, nhiều hơn những vua đã sống trước tôi tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.

8 Tôi thu góp vô số bạc và vàng, của cải của các vua và các tỉnh. Tôi thuê nhiều những ca sĩ tuyệt vời, cả nam lẫn nữ, và có nhiều thê thiếp và cung nữ. Tôi có mọi lạc thú mà đàn ông ước muốn!
to gather to/for me also silver: money and gold and possession king and [the] province to make: offer to/for me to sing and to sing and luxury son: child [the] man concubine and concubine
9 Như thế, tôi trở nên vượt trội hơn tất cả ai sống trước tôi tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, và sự khôn ngoan của tôi không bao giờ phản lại tôi.

10 Tôi chẳng từ một điều gì lòng mình ưa thích, hoặc mắt mình thèm muốn. Tôi thích thú khi chịu khó làm lụng. Sự thích thú này là phần thưởng của công khó tôi.

11 Nhưng khi nhìn lại mỗi việc mình làm với bao nhiêu lao khổ, tôi thấy tất cả đều vô nghĩa—như đuổi theo luồng gió. Không có gì thật sự giá trị trên cõi đời này.
and to turn I in/on/with all deed: work my which/that to make: do hand my and in/on/with trouble which/that to toil to/for to make: do and behold [the] all vanity and longing spirit: breath and nothing advantage underneath: under [the] sun
12 Tôi lại so sánh về khôn ngoan với dại dột và điên rồ. Vua kế vị sẽ làm được gì hay hơn chẳng qua làm những điều người trước đã làm?
and to turn I to/for to see: examine wisdom and madness and folly for what? [the] man which/that to come (in): come after [the] king [obj] which already to make: do him
13 Tôi nghĩ: “Khôn ngoan trội hơn dại dột, như ánh sáng trội hơn tối tăm.
and to see: see I which/that there advantage to/for wisdom from [the] folly like/as advantage [the] light from [the] darkness
14 Vì người khôn ngoan thấy nơi họ đi, nhưng người dại dột bước đi trong bóng tối.” Tuy nhiên, tôi thấy người khôn và người dại cùng chung số phận.

15 Cả hai đều sẽ chết. Rồi tôi tự nhủ: “Kết cuộc của tôi cũng sẽ như người dại, giá trị sự khôn ngoan của tôi là gì? Tất cả điều này cũng là vô nghĩa!”

16 Người khôn ngoan và người dại dột đều sẽ chết. Sẽ không ai nhớ họ mãi bất kể là người khôn hay dại. Trong những ngày đến, cả hai rồi sẽ bị lãng quên.
for nothing memorial to/for wise with [the] fool to/for forever: enduring in/on/with which/that already [the] day [the] to come (in): come [the] all to forget and how? to die [the] wise with [the] fool
17 Vậy, tôi chán ghét cuộc sống vì mọi việc tôi làm dưới ánh mặt trời đều là xấu xa. Mọi thứ đều vô nghĩa—như đuổi theo luồng gió.
and to hate [obj] [the] life for bad: harmful upon me [the] deed: work which/that to make: do underneath: under [the] sun for [the] all vanity and longing spirit: breath
18 Tôi chán ghét những công trình tôi đã khó nhọc làm trên đất, vì tôi phải để lại tất cả cho người khác.
and to hate I [obj] all trouble my which/that I laborious underneath: under [the] sun which/that to rest him to/for man which/that to be after me
19 Ai biết được người thừa kế sẽ là người khôn hay người dại? Thế nhưng người ấy có quyền trên mọi việc mà tôi đã dùng sự khôn ngoan và làm việc lao khổ dưới mặt trời. Thật là vô nghĩa!
and who? to know wise to be or fool and to domineer in/on/with all trouble my which/that to toil and which/that be wise underneath: under [the] sun also this vanity
20 Lòng tôi tràn đầy thất vọng về mọi công việc khó nhọc mình đã làm trong thế giới này.
and to turn: turn I to/for to despair [obj] heart my upon all [the] trouble which/that to toil underneath: under [the] sun
21 Vài người đã làm việc cách khôn ngoan với tri thức và tài năng để tạo dựng cơ nghiệp, rồi cuối cùng phải để lại tất cả cho người chẳng hề lao nhọc gì cả. Thật là bất công, vô nghĩa.

22 Vậy, con người làm lụng vất vả suốt đời sẽ được gì?
for what? to be to/for man in/on/with all trouble his and in/on/with striving heart his which/that he/she/it laborious underneath: under [the] sun
23 Họ đã phải lao khổ buồn rầu suốt ngày, trằn trọc suốt đêm để làm giàu, nhưng rồi cuối cùng tất cả đều vô nghĩa.
for all day his pain and vexation task his also in/on/with night not to lie down: sleep heart his also this vanity he/she/it
24 Vậy, tôi nghĩ không có gì tốt hơn là cứ ăn uống và hưởng thụ công khó mình. Rồi tôi nhận thấy những thú vui này đều đến từ Đức Chúa Trời.
nothing pleasant in/on/with man which/that to eat and to drink and to see: enjoy [obj] soul: myself his good in/on/with trouble his also this to see: see I for from hand: power [the] God he/she/it
25 Vì ai có thể ăn hay hưởng thụ mọi điều mà không do Ngài ban cho?
for who? to eat and who? to enjoy outside from me
26 Đức Chúa Trời ban khôn ngoan, tri thức, và hạnh phúc cho người nào sống đẹp lòng Ngài. Nhưng nếu một người tội lỗi trở nên giàu có, rồi Đức Chúa Trời lấy lại tất cả của cải và đem cho người sống đẹp lòng Ngài. Điều này cũng là vô nghĩa—như đuổi theo luồng gió.
