1 “Khi thấy bò, chiên của anh em mình đi lạc, không được làm ngơ, phải dẫn nó về cho chủ nó.
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ox or his lamb go astray, and withdraw thyself from them: thou shalt surely bring them back again unto thy brother.
2 Nếu không biết ai là chủ con vật, hoặc biết chủ nó nhưng người này lại ở một nơi xa xôi, phải dẫn con vật về nhà, đợi khi chủ nó đến kiếm sẽ giao trả.
But if thy brother be not nigh unto thee, or thou know him not: then shalt thou take it unto thy own house, and it shall remain with thee until thy brother inquire after it, and then shalt thou restore it to him.
3 Lệ này cũng áp dụng cho lừa đi lạc, cho áo xống hoặc một vật gì người khác đánh mất.
In like manner shalt thou do with his ass; and in like manner shalt thou do with his raiment; and in like manner shalt thou do with every lost thing of thy brother's, which may have been lost to him, and which thou hast found; thou art not at liberty to withdraw thyself.
4 Nếu thấy bò, lừa của anh em mình bị ngã bên đường, phải đỡ nó dậy, đừng làm ngơ!
Thou shalt not see thy brother's ass or his ox fallen down by the way, and withdraw thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.
5 Đàn bà không được mặc quần áo của đàn ông; đàn ông không được mặc quần áo của đàn bà. Đối với Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, đây là một điều đáng ghét.
A woman shall not have upon her the apparel of a man, and a man shall not put on a woman's garment; for an abomination unto the Lord thy God are all who do this.
6 Nếu gặp một tổ chim trên cây hay dưới đất, có chim mẹ đang ấp con hoặc ấp trứng, thì không được bắt cả mẹ lẫn con.
If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way, on any tree, or on the ground, with young ones, or with eggs, and the mother be sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs: thou shalt not take the mother with the young;
7 Phải thả chim mẹ, chỉ được bắt các chim con mà thôi. Như thế anh em mới mong được may mắn và sống lâu.
But thou shalt surely let the mother go, and the young thou mayest take to thyself; in order that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest live many days.
8 Khi cất nhà mới, phải dựng lan can quanh mái nhà để tránh trường hợp có người từ nóc nhà ngã xuống chết.
When thou buildest a new house, thou shalt make a battlement for thy roof; that thou bring not blood upon thy house, if any one were to fall from there.
9 Đừng trồng các loại hạt giống khác trong vườn nho. Nếu bất tuân, hoa quả của các hạt giống và trái nho trong vườn phải bị tịch thu, bỏ vào kho Đền Thờ.
Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds; that the ripe fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of the vineyard, be not defiled.
10 Đừng bắt một con bò và một con lừa mang chung ách để đi cày.
Thou shalt not plough with an ox and an ass together.
11 Đừng may mặc bằng vải pha sợi len và sợi gai với nhau.
Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, of woolen and linen together.
12 Nhớ kết tua nơi bốn chéo áo choàng mình mặc.”
Thou shalt make thyself fringes upon the four corners of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.
13 “Nếu có người cưới vợ, ngủ với nàng rồi sau đâm ra khinh ghét,
If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,
14 buộc tội nặng nề, bảo nàng đã mất trinh từ trước,
And he lay an accusation against her, and spread abroad an evil name upon her, and say, This woman I took [for wife], and when I came near to her, I found no tokens of virginity in her:
15 thì cha mẹ người vợ sẽ trình bằng chứng trinh tiết của con mình cho các trưởng lão họp tại cổng thành.
Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city, to the gate.
16 Người cha sẽ nói: ‘Tôi gả con tôi cho người này làm vợ. Bây giờ vì chán ghét,
And the father of the damsel shall say unto the elders, My daughter I gave unto this man for wife; but he hath conceived hatred toward her;
17 người này đặt điều buộc tội con tôi, bảo rằng nó đã mất trinh. Và đây là bằng chứng nó còn trong trắng.’ Rồi cha mẹ người vợ trải chiếc áo của nàng ra trước các trưởng lão.
And, lo, he hath laid an accusation [against her], saying, I have found no tokens of virginity in thy daughter; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity; and they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
18 Các trưởng lão trong thành sẽ truyền đánh đòn người chồng,
And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;
19 và bắt người này nộp cho cha người vợ một trăm đồng bằng bạc, vì tội vu cáo một trinh nữ Ít-ra-ên. Nàng sẽ tiếp tục làm vợ người ấy suốt đời, người ấy không được bỏ nàng.
And they shall amerce him in a hundred shekels of silver, and give them unto the father of the damsel; because he hath spread abroad an evil name upon a virgin of Israel; and she shall remain his wife; he shall not be at liberty to put her away all his days.
20 Nhưng nếu lời buộc tội của người chồng là đúng, vì không tìm thấy bằng chứng trinh tiết,
But if this thing was true, there have not been found tokens of virginity in the damsel:
21 thì người ta sẽ đem người vợ đến trước nhà cha nàng, dân trong thành sẽ lấy đá ném cho nàng chết đi, vì nàng đã phạm tội trong Ít-ra-ên lúc còn ở trong nhà cha mình. Như thế, người ác trong dân chúng sẽ bị diệt trừ.
Then shall they lead out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die; because she hath wrought a disgraceful deed in Israel, to commit incest in her father's house; and thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee.
22 Nếu bắt được một người đàn ông thông dâm với vợ người khác, thì cả hai phải bị xử tử. Như thế, người ác trong dân chúng sẽ bị diệt trừ.
If a man be found lying with a woman married to a husband: then shall both of them die, the man that lieth with the woman, and the woman; and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel.
23 Nếu một người đàn ông ăn nằm với một gái trinh đã đính hôn, và việc này xảy ra trong thành,
If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto a man, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her:
24 thì cả hai phải bị dẫn ra ngoài thành, bị ném đá cho chết. Người con gái có tội vì đã không kêu cứu, dù việc xảy ra trong thành; còn người đàn ông có tội, vì đã xúc phạm vợ hứa của anh em mình. Như thế, người ác trong dân chúng sẽ bị diệt trừ.
Then shall ye lead them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not [for aid] in the city; and the man, because he hath done violence to his neighbor's wife; and thou shalt put away the evil from the midst of thee.
25 Nhưng nếu việc xảy ra ngoài đồng, nếu người đàn ông cưỡng dâm một thiếu nữ đã đính hôn, chỉ một mình người đàn ông bị xử tử.
But if in the field the man should find the betrothed damsel, and the man take hold of her by force, and lie with her: then shall the man that lay with her die alone;
26 Còn người thiếu nữ không phải chết; vì nàng chỉ là nạn nhân. Cũng như trường hợp một người bị tấn công và sát hại vậy.
But unto the damsel shalt thou not do any thing; there is in the damsel no sin worthy of death; for as when a man riseth against his neighbor, and striketh him dead. even so is this matter;
27 Hơn nữa, vì việc xảy ra ngoài đồng nên thiếu nữ dù có kêu cứu cũng chẳng ai nghe.
For in the field did he find her; had the betrothed damsel even cried, there would have been none to aid her.
28 Trường hợp một người cưỡng dâm một trinh nữ chưa đính hôn và bị bắt gặp,
If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and lay fast hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found:
29 người đàn ông này phải nộp cho cha thiếu nữ năm mươi đồng bằng bạc, rồi họ sẽ thành vợ chồng suốt đời, người này không được bỏ vợ mình, vì đã xúc phạm nàng.
Then shall the man who lieth with her give unto the father of the damsel fifty shekels of silver; and she shall become his wife, because he hath done violence to her, he shall not be at liberty to put her away all his days.
30 Tuyệt đối không ai được lấy vợ kế của cha mình.”
A man shall not take his lather's wife, and he shall not uncover his father's skirt.
