Phục Truyền Luật Lệ 14
1 “Anh em là con dân của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, nên không được cắt da thịt mình hay cạo tóc phía trên trán trong dịp tang chế.
Ye are the children of the Lord your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead.
2 Vì người Ít-ra-ên đã là dân thánh cho Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, và Ngài đã chọn Ít-ra-ên trong toàn thể các dân tộc trên toàn cầu cho mình.
For a holy people art thou unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath made choice of thee to be unto himself a peculiar nation above all the nations that are upon the face of the earth.
3 Không được ăn thịt thú vật ô uế.
Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
4 Chỉ được ăn các loại thú vật sau đây: Bò, chiên, dê,
These are the beasts which ye may eat: The ox, the sheep, and the goat,
5 nai, linh dương, hươu, dê rừng, bò rừng, sơn dương, và chiên núi.
The hart, and the roebuck, and the fallow-deer, and the chamois, and the gazelle, and the wild ox, and the antelope.
6 Anh em được ăn thịt con vật nào có móng chẻ đôi và nhai lại,
And every beast that hath parted hoofs, and whose feet are cleft into two claws, and cheweth the cud among the beasts—that alone may ye eat.
7 tuy nhiên, không được ăn thịt lạc đà, thỏ rừng, chồn núi, vì các loại này nhai lại nhưng không có móng chẻ đôi. Vậy các loại này cũng không sạch.
Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of those that chew the cud, and of those that possess the divided cloven hoof: The camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; unclean are they unto you;
8 Con heo tuy có móng chẻ đôi nhưng không nhai lại, nên anh em không được ăn thịt nó, cũng đừng đụng đến xác chết của loài này.
And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you; of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their dead carcass shall ye not touch.
9 Trong các sinh vật sống dưới nước, anh em chỉ được ăn loài nào có vi và có vảy.
This may ye eat of all that is in the waters: all that hath fins and scales may ye eat;
10 Loài nào không vi và không vảy là không sạch, không được ăn.
And whatsoever hath not fins and scales shall ye not eat; it is unclean unto you.
11 Anh em được ăn các loài chim sạch.
Every clean bird may ye eat.
12 Trừ ra phượng hoàng, kên kên, ó biển,
But these are they which ye shall not eat of them: The eagle, and the ossifrage, and the osprey,
13 chim diều, các loại chim ưng,
And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,
14 các loại quạ,
And every raven after his kind,
15 đà điểu, ó đêm, hải âu, các loại diều,
And the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after his kind,
16 các loại chim cú mèo, cò lửa, chim hạc,
The little owl, and the great owl and the swan,
17 bồ nông, kên kên, còng cọc,
And the pelican, and the gier-eagle, and the cormorant,
18 các loại cò, chim diệc, chim rẽ quạt, và dơi.
And the stork, and the heron after his kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
19 Ngoài ra, anh em cũng không được ăn các loại côn trùng có cánh vì không sạch.
And every winged insect is unclean unto you: it shall not be eaten.
20 Nhưng các loài chim có cánh sạch khác thì được ăn.
All clean fowls may ye eat.
21 Đừng ăn một sinh vật chết tự nhiên, vì anh em đã hiến dâng mình cho Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em. Tuy nhiên, anh em có thể đem con vật ấy bán hoặc cho người ngoại kiều. Đừng nấu thịt dê con chung với sữa của mẹ nó.”
Ye shall not eat any thing that dieth of itself: unto the stranger that is in thy gates canst thou give it, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an alien; for thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God; thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother's milk.
22 “Phải nhớ dâng một phần mười mùa màng thu hoạch hằng năm.
Thou shalt truly tithe all the produce of thy seed, which the field bringeth forth year by year.
23 Tại nơi Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, sẽ chọn đặt Danh Ngài, anh em sẽ ăn phần mười mình đem dâng trước mặt Ngài. Đó là lễ vật phần mười của ngũ cốc, rượu, dầu, và các con sinh đầu lòng trong bầy gia súc. Đây là cách anh em học kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, suốt đời.
And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God, in the place which he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thy oil, and the first-born of thy herds and of thy flocks; in order that thou may learn to fear the Lord thy God all the days.
24 Nếu nơi Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, đặt Danh Ngài xa quá, không tiện đem theo lễ vật một phần mười,
And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; because the place is too far from thee, which the Lord thy God will choose to set his name there, because the Lord thy God will bless thee:
25 anh em có thể đem bán các lễ vật ấy, rồi lấy tiền đem lên nơi Đức Chúa Trời đã chọn.
Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thy hand, and thou shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God will choose;
26 Đến nơi, anh em sẽ dùng tiền ấy mua bò, chiên, rượu nho, rượu mạnh, tùy sở thích, rồi ăn uống hân hoan trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, cùng với cả gia đình mình.
And thou shalt lay out that money for whatsoever thy soul longeth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat it there before the Lord thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thy household.
27 Tuy nhiên, đừng quên người Lê-vi, nhớ mời họ dự chung với mình, vì họ không có đất đai mùa màng như anh em.
And the Levite, who is within thy gates, him shalt thou not forsake; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.
28 Cuối mỗi ba năm, tại mỗi địa phương, anh em phải đem một phần mười mùa màng thu được năm ấy vào thành, góp chung lại.
At the end of three years shalt thou bring forth all the tithe of thy produce in the same year, and thou shalt lay it down within thy gates:
29 Những người Lê-vi (vì không có tài sản), người ngoại kiều, mồ côi, quả phụ sống trong địa phương này sẽ đến, ăn uống thỏa mãn. Như vậy, anh em sẽ được Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của anh em, ban phước lành, mọi việc mình làm sẽ được thịnh vượng.”
And then shall come the Levite, because he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee, with the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, and they shall eat and be satisfied; in order that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
