Ða-ni-ên 2
1 Năm thứ hai triều Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua thấy một giấc mộng khiến cho tinh thần bối rối và mất ngủ.
And in the seconde yeere of the raygne of Nebuchad-nezzar, Nebuchad-nezzar dreamed dreames wherewith his spirite was troubled, and his sleepe was vpon him.
2 Vua cho gọi các phù thủy, thầy bói, đồng cốt, và nhà chiêm tinh đến bảo họ kể lại giấc mộng cho vua.
Then the King commanded to call the inchanters, and the astrologians and the sorcerers, and the Caldeans for to shewe the King his dreames: so they came and stoode before the King.
3 Vua bảo họ: “Ta thấy một giấc mộng và tinh thần ta bối rối, muốn biết giấc mộng ấy có nghĩa gì.”
And the King sayde vnto them, I haue dreamed a dreame, and my spirite was troubled to knowe the dreame.
4 Các bói khoa Ba-by-lôn tâu bằng tiếng A-ram: “Hoàng đế vạn tuế! Xin vua thuật giấc mộng, rồi chúng tôi xin giải thích ý nghĩa.”
Then spake the Caldeans to the King in the Aramites language, O King, liue for euer: shewe thy seruants thy dreame, and wee shall shewe the interpretation.
5 Vua đáp với các nhà chiêm tinh: “Ta bảo thật, nếu các ngươi không thuật lại và giải thích giấc mộng ấy được, thì các ngươi sẽ bị xé xác từng mảnh và nhà cửa các ngươi sẽ trở thành những đống gạch vụn.
And the King answered and sayd to the Caldeans, The thing is gone from me. If ye will not make me vnderstande the dreame with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be drawen in pieces, and your houses shall be made a iakes.
6 Còn ai thuật đúng giấc mộng và giải thích được, ta sẽ cho nhiều tặng phẩm quý giá và được phong chức tước. Các ngươi hãy thuật cho ta nghe giấc mộng đó và giải thích ngay!”
But if yee declare the dreame and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receyue of me gifts and rewardes, and great honour: therefore shewe me the dreame and the interpretation of it.
7 Họ lại van xin: “Xin vua thuật giấc mộng trước, rồi chúng tôi mới giải nghĩa được.”
They answered againe, and sayde, Let the King shewe his seruantes the dreame, and wee will declare the interpretation thereof.
8 Vua nói: “Ta biết các ngươi chỉ khéo tìm cách trì hoãn thời gian. Vì các ngươi biết ta đã quả quyết:
Then the King answered, and sayd, I knowe certeinly that ye would gaine the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me.
9 Nếu các ngươi không thuật đúng giấc mộng của ta, thì ta chỉ còn một hình phạt dành cho các ngươi. Trước nay các ngươi đã toa rập với nhau thêu dệt đủ những lối bàn mộng dối trá để chờ xem sự việc xảy ra thế nào rồi dựa vào đó mà bịa chuyện. Vì vậy, trước hết các ngươi phải thuật cho ta giấc mộng đó, ta sẽ biết ngay là các ngươi có giải được hay không.”
But if ye will not declare mee the dreame, there is but one iudgement for you: for ye haue prepared lying and corrupt wordes, to speake before me till the time bee changed: therefore tell me the dreame, that I may knowe, if yee can declare me the interpretation thereof.
10 Giới bói khoa Canh-đê thưa: “Không một ai trên đời có khả năng làm điều vua đòi hỏi. Không có bậc vua chúa nào hoặc lãnh tụ của nước nào lại đòi hỏi các phù thủy, thầy bói, đồng cốt và nhà chiêm tinh làm một việc như thế.
Then the Caldeans answered before the King, and sayde, There is no man vpon earth that can declare the Kings matter: yea, there is neither king nor prince nor lorde that asked such things at an inchanter or astrologian or Caldean.
11 Việc vua đòi thật hy hữu, không một người trần nào có thể thực hiện. Họa chăng chỉ có các vị thần linh mới làm nổi!”
For it is a rare thing that the King requireth, and there is none other that can declare it before the King, except the gods whose dwelling is not with flesh.
12 Vua nổi giận khi nghe những điều này nên ra lệnh xử tử tất cả các học giả bói khoa Ba-by-lôn.
For this cause the king was angrie and in great furie, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babel.
13 Lệnh vua truyền xuống, người ta lập tức bắt giam các học giả, lại tầm nã Đa-ni-ên và ba người bạn để xử tử luôn một thể.
And when sentence was giuen, the wise men were slayne: and they sought Daniel and his fellowes to be put to death.
14 Khi A-ri-ốc, chỉ huy vệ quân, sắp ra tay hành quyết giới học giả bói khoa Ba-by-lôn thì Đa-ni-ên khôn khéo giãi bày hoàn cảnh với ông ta.
Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisedome to Arioch the Kings chiefe stewarde, which was gone foorth to put to death the wise men of Babel.
15 Đa-ni-ên hỏi A-ri-ốc: “Tại sao vua ra lệnh xử tử chúng tôi khẩn cấp như thế?” A-ri-ốc thuật cho Đa-ni-ên nghe đầu đuôi câu chuyện.
Yea, he answered and sayde vnto Arioch the kings captaine, Why is the sentence so hastie from the king? Then Arioch declared the thing to Daniel.
16 Đa-ni-ên lập tức vào chầu vua, xin vua cho mình một thời gian nữa để có thể giải mộng cho vua.
So Daniel went and desired the king that he woulde giue him leasure and that he woulde shewe the king the interpretation thereof.
17 Đa-ni-ên về nhà riêng, trình bày vấn đề cho các bạn Ha-na-nia, Mi-sa-ên, và A-xa-ria,
The Daniel went to his house and shewed the matter to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah his companions,
18 và yêu cầu họ khẩn nguyện nài xin Đức Chúa Trời trên trời tỏ lòng thương xót, tiết lộ điều huyền nhiệm này để Đa-ni-ên và các bạn khỏi chết oan uổng với các học giả bói khoa Ba-by-lôn.
That they should beseech the God of heauen for grace in this secrete, that Daniel and his fellowes should not perish with the rest of ye wise men of Babel.
19 Chúa nhậm lời, cho Đa-ni-ên biết giấc mộng của vua Ba-by-lôn trong một khải tượng ban đêm. Đa-ni-ên nức lòng tôn ngợi Đức Chúa Trời trên trời:
Then was the secret reueiled vnto Daniel in a vision by night: therefore Daniel praysed the God of heauen.
20 “Đáng ngợi tôn Danh Đức Chúa Trời đời đời mãi mãi, vì khôn ngoan và sức mạnh đều thuộc về Ngài!
And Daniel answered and sayde, The Name of God be praysed for euer and euer: for wisedome and strength are his,
21 Chúa thay đổi thời kỳ, mùa tiết; Chúa phế lập các vua và lãnh tụ các nước. Chúa ban sự khôn ngoan cho người tìm kiếm Chúa và tỏ tri thức cho người có trí hiểu.
And hee changeth the times and seasons: he taketh away kings: he setteth vp kings: he giueth wisedome vnto the wise, and vnderstanding to those that vnderstand.
22 Chúa tiết lộ những điều sâu xa, huyền nhiệm. Chúa thấy suốt cõi tối tăm dày đặc, và Chúa là Nguồn Sáng muôn đời.
Hee discouereth the deepe and secrete things: he knoweth what is in darkenes, and the light dwelleth with him.
23 Thưa Chúa, là Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ con, con cảm tạ và ngợi tôn Chúa vì Ngài đã ban cho con đủ khôn ngoan và nghị lực, và tiết lộ cho con biết điều con cầu xin, tức là giấc mộng bí mật của nhà vua.”
I thanke thee and prayse thee, O thou God of my fathers, that thou hast giuen mee wisedome and strength, and hast shewed me nowe the thing that wee desired of thee: for thou hast declared vnto vs the kings matter.
24 Đa-ni-ên đến nhà A-ri-ốc, người vua đã chỉ định hành quyết các học giả Ba-by-lôn, thưa rằng: “Xin đừng xử tử các học giả Ba-by-lôn vội. Hãy đưa tôi vào triều, tôi sẽ trình bày giấc mộng và ý nghĩa đầy đủ cho vua.”
Therefore Daniel went vnto Arioch, whome the King had ordeyned to destroy the wise men of Babel: he went and sayde thus vnto him, Destroy not the wise men of Babel, but bring me before the King, and I will declare vnto the King the interpretation.
25 A-ri-ốc lập tức đưa Đa-ni-ên vào chầu vua, và báo: “Muôn tâu, tôi đã tìm được một tên tù Giu-đa, nó sẽ tâu trình cho vua ý nghĩa giấc mộng đó.”
Then Arioch brought Daniel before the King in all haste, and sayd thus vnto him, I haue found a man of the children of Iudah that were brought captiues, that will declare vnto the King the interpretation.
26 Vua Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa hỏi Đa-ni-ên, tức là Bên-tơ-sát-xa: “Nhà ngươi thật có khả năng kể lại cho ta giấc mộng ta đã thấy và giải thích ý nghĩa không?”
Then answered the King, and sayde vnto Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to shew me the dreame, which I haue seene, and the interpretation thereof?
27 Đa-ni-ên đáp: “Vua đòi phải thuật lại giấc mộng bí mật mà các học giả, thuật sĩ, nhà chiêm tinh, và giáo sư khoa học huyền bí đã không tài nào biết được.
Daniel answered in the presence of the King, and sayd, The secret which the King hath demanded, can neither the wise, the astrologians, the inchanters, nor the southsayers declare vnto the King.
28 Nhưng Đức Chúa Trời trên trời có quyền năng mạc khải các huyền nhiệm. Ngài đã cho vua Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa biết những việc tương lai trong ngày tận thế. Đây là giấc mộng và khải tượng vua đã thấy trên giường ngủ.
But there is a God in heauen that reueileth secrets, and sheweth the King Nebuchad-nezzar what shall bee in the latter dayes. Thy dreame, and the things which thou hast seene in thine heade vpon thy bed, is this.
29 Khi vua ngự trên giường, vua suy nghĩ về các diễn biến tương lai. Đấng mạc khải các huyền nhiệm tỏ cho vua biết việc tương lai.
O King, when thou wast in thy bedde, thoughts came into thy mind, what should come to passe hereafter, and he that reueyleth secretes, telleth thee, what shall come.
30 Về phần tôi, Đức Chúa Trời tiết lộ huyền nhiệm này cho tôi, không phải vì tôi khôn ngoan hơn người, nhưng mục đích để trình bày nghĩa giấc mộng cho vua và giúp vua thấu triệt các tư tưởng thầm kín của mình.
As for me, this secret is not shewed mee for any wisedome that I haue, more then any other liuing, but onely to shewe the King the interpretation, and that thou mightest knowe the thoughts of thine heart.
31 Vua thấy một pho tượng vĩ đại. Pho tượng ấy đứng trước mặt vua, rực rỡ hào quang, nhưng hình thù thật dễ sợ.
O King, thou sawest, and beholde, there was a great image: this great image whose glory was so excellent, stood before thee, and the forme thereof was terrible.
32 Đầu tượng bằng vàng ròng, ngực và cánh tay bằng bạc, bụng và đùi bằng đồng,
This images head was of fine golde, his breast and his armes of siluer, his bellie and his thighs of brasse,
33 ống chân bằng sắt, bàn chân bằng sắt trộn đất sét.
His legges of yron, and his feete were part of yron, and part of clay.
34 Vua nhìn chăm pho tượng ấy cho đến khi một Tảng Đá siêu nhiên đập vào bàn chân tượng bằng sắt trộn đất sét, làm cho tượng đổ nát tan tành.
Thou beheldest it til a stone was cut without hands, which smote the image vpon his feete, that were of yron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
35 Sắt, đất sét, đồng, bạc, và vàng đều bị nghiền nát cả và biến thành như trấu trong sân đạp lúa mùa hè, bị trận gió đùa đi mất tăm. Tảng Đá đã đập vỡ pho tượng biến thành một ngọn núi lớn, đầy dẫy khắp địa cầu.
Then was the yron, the clay, the brasse, the siluer and the golde broken all together, and became like the chaffe of the sommer floures, and the winde caryed them away, that no place was founde for them: and the stone that smote the image, became a great mountaine, and filled the whole earth.
36 Đó là giấc mộng vua đã thấy. Đây, tôi xin trình bày ý nghĩa:
This is the dreame, and we will declare before the King the interpretation thereof.
37 Vua là vua của các vua! Chúa trên trời đã ban cho vua đế quốc, uy quyền, lực lượng, và danh dự.
O King, thou art a king of Kings: for the God of heauen hath giuen thee a kingdome, power, and strength, and glorie.
38 Chúa đã cho vua quyền cai trị loài người, cả đến các loài điểu, thú, côn trùng. Vậy, vua là cái đầu bằng vàng.
And in all places where the children of men dwell, the beasts of the fielde, and the foules of the heauen hath he giuen into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler ouer them al: thou art this heade of golde.
39 Một đế quốc sẽ nổi lên thay thế vua, nhưng kém hơn vua; nhưng rồi đến lúc sẽ nhường chỗ cho đế quốc thứ ba cai trị thế giới, đó là đế quốc bằng đồng.
And after thee shall rise another kingdome, inferiour to thee, of siluer, and another third kingdome shalbe of brasse, which shall beare rule ouer all the earth.
40 Đế quốc thứ tư mạnh như sắt. Như sắt thường đập vỡ, nghiền nát các vật khác, nước này sẽ đánh tan và nghiền nát các nước lân bang.
And the fourth kingdome shall be strong as yron: for as yron breaketh in pieces, and subdueth all things, and as yron bruiseth all these things, so shall it breake in pieces, and bruise all.
41 Như vua đã thấy rằng bàn chân và ngón chân nửa làm bằng đất sét thợ gốm, nửa bằng sắt, đế quốc này vì thế sẽ bị phân chia làm nhiều nước, nhưng vẫn còn sức mạnh của sắt như vua đã thấy sắt trộn đất sét.
Where as thou sawest the feete and toes, parte of potters clay, and part of yron: the kingdome shalbe deuided, but there shalbe in it of the strength of the yron, as thou sawest the yron mixt with the clay, and earth.
42 Các ngón chân bằng sắt trộn đất sét thế nào, thì các nước này cũng nửa mạnh nửa dòn như thế ấy, nên dễ bị sụp đổ.
And as the toes of the feete were parte of yron, and parte of clay, so shall the kingdome be partly strong, and partly broken.
43 Sự kiện sắt trộn với đất sét còn có nghĩa là các nước ấy sẽ cố gắng tăng cường liên minh bằng cách cưới gả với nhau, nhưng rồi cũng thất bại vì sắt không bao giờ trộn với đất sét được.
And where as thou sawest yron mixt with clay and earth, they shall mingle themselues with the seede of men: but they shall not ioyne one with another, as yron can not bee mixed with clay.
44 Trong đời các vua và lãnh tụ sau cùng đó, Đức Chúa Trời trên trời sẽ thiết lập vương quốc là nước đời đời không bao giờ sụp đổ, hoặc bại trận. Vương quốc Chúa sẽ đánh tan và tiêu diệt các đế quốc và quốc gia trên thế giới. Vương quốc ấy sẽ trường tồn bất diệt.
And in the dayes of these Kings, shall the God of heauen set vp a kingdome, which shall neuer be destroyed: and this kingdome shall not be giuen to another people, but it shall breake, and destroy al these kingdomes, and it shall stand for euer.
45 Đó là ý nghĩa của Tảng Đá siêu nhiên không do bàn tay người đục ra. Tảng Đá vô địch đã nghiền nát sắt, đồng, đất sét, bạc, và vàng. Đức Chúa Trời Vĩ Đại đã tiết lộ cho vua biết tương lai. Tôi thuật giấc mộng này đúng y sự thật thế nào thì lời giải thích cũng hoàn toàn chính xác thể ấy!”
Where as thou sawest, that the stone was cut of the mountaine without handes, and that it brake in pieces the yron, the brasse, the clay, the siluer, and the golde: so the great God hath shewed the King, what shall come to passe hereafter, and the dreame is true, and the interpretation thereof is sure.
46 Vua Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa nghe xong sấp mặt xuống đất, lạy Đa-ni-ên. Vua ra lệnh dâng lễ vật và đốt trầm trước mặt Đa-ni-ên.
Then the King Nebuchad-nezzar fell vpon his face, and bowed himselfe vnto Daniel, and commanded that they should offer meate offrings, and sweete odours vnto him.
47 Vua nói với Đa-ni-ên: “Thần của ngươi thật là Thần của các thần, Chúa Tể của các vua, Đấng có thẩm quyền tiết lộ những huyền nhiệm! Chỉ nhờ Thần ấy, ngươi mới biết và trình bày được huyền nhiệm này.”
Also the King answered vnto Daniel, and said, I know of a trueth that your God is a God of gods, and the Lord of Kings, and the reueiler of secrets, seeing thou couldest open this secret.
48 Vua thăng chức cho Đa-ni-ên và ban tặng nhiều phẩm vật rất giá trị. Vua cử Đa-ni-ên cai trị toàn Ba-by-lôn và thủ lãnh hội đoàn các học giả.
So the King made Daniel a great man, and gaue him many and great giftes. Hee made him gouernour ouer the whole prouince of Babel, and chiefe of the rulers, and aboue all the wise men of Babel.
49 Hơn thế nữa, theo lời thỉnh cầu của Đa-ni-ên, vua bổ nhiệm Sa-đơ-rắc, Mê-sác, và A-bết-nê-gô cùng cai quản trong tỉnh Ba-by-lôn; còn Đa-ni-ên phục vụ tại triều đình.
Then Daniel made request to the King, and hee set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego ouer the charge of the prouince of Babel: but Daniel sate in the gate of the King.
