Ða-ni-ên 11

1 “Tôi được sai đến đây để ủng hộ và tăng cường cho Đa-ri-út, người Mê-đi, trong năm đầu của triều vua này.”

And I also, in the first year of Darius the Mede, stood up to confirm and strengthen him.

2 “Bây giờ, tôi sẽ tiết lộ cho anh những diễn biến tương lai. Có ba vua sẽ lên ngôi trị vì nước Ba Tư, rồi vua thứ tư lên kế vị, giàu mạnh hơn các vua trước. Vua này sẽ dùng thế lực kim tiền để lung lạc các nước, xúi giục mọi dân hợp lực tiến công vào Hy Lạp.”

And now I will tell thee what is true. Behold, there shall arise yet three kings in Persia, and the fourth shall be far richer than they all; and, relying upon his riches, he shall stir up all against the realm of Greece.

3 “Có một vua sẽ lên ngôi, sáng lập một đế quốc vĩ đại mênh mông và thực hiện tất cả chương trình mình hoạch định.

But a mighty king shall arise, and rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.

4 Nhưng khi đế quốc vừa đạt đến mức cực thịnh, nhà vua bất ngờ qua đời không truyền được ngai cho các con cháu, đế quốc bị chia làm bốn vương quốc, vì cả đất nước sẽ bị phân ra bốn phương trời và chia cho người ngoại tộc.

But when he shall have arisen, his kingdom shall be broken in pieces, and shall be divided toward the four winds of heaven; and not to his posterity, nor with the dominion with which he ruled; for his kingdom shall be plucked up, and divided amongst others besides those.

5 Vua phương nam cố gắng tăng cường quân đội, mở rộng giang sơn, nhưng bị một gian thần phản bội cướp ngai và tăng cường thế lực hơn nữa.

And the king of the South shall become strong; but one of his princes shall become stronger than he, and have dominion; his dominion shall be a great dominion.

6 Nhiều năm sau đó, các vua ấy sẽ ký hiệp ước liên minh. Vua phương nam gả công chúa cho vua phương bắc để bảo đảm tình đoàn kết, nhưng rồi công chúa cũng bị thất sủng, nên niềm hy vọng của nàng và của cha nàng cũng tiêu tan. Sứ thần phương nam sẽ bị hạ nhục, thái tử nàng sinh cho vua phương bắc sẽ bị phế bỏ.

And after some years they shall ally themselves with each other; and the daughter of the king of the South shall come to the king of the North, to make peace; but she shall not retain the power of giving aid; neither shall he stand, nor his aid; but she shall be given up, and they that caused her to go, and he that begat her, and he that received her in those times.

7 Em trai công chúa lên ngôi phương nam, đem quân đội tiến công và chiến thắng vua phương bắc.

But from a shoot of her roots shall one arise in his place, who shall come to an army, and shall come against the fortresses of the king of the North, and shall deal with them according to his pleasure, and prevail against them.

8 Khi rút quân về Ai Cập, vua phương nam đem luôn tất cả các thần tượng phương bắc về nước với vô số chén dĩa khí dụng bằng vàng và bạc. Rồi vua phương nam để yên cho vua phương bắc một thời gian.

And their gods, with their molten images, and their precious vessels of silver and of gold, shall he carry into captivity into Egypt; then shall he stand away for many years from the king of the North;

9 Vua phương bắc nhân cơ hội, thu hết lực lượng tấn công vào phương nam, nhưng chỉ được ít lâu phải rút quân về nước.

and he shall come against the kingdom of the king of the South, but he shall return into his own land.

10 Các hoàng tử phương bắc lại động viên toàn lực, đem quân đội đông đảo, tràn ngập Ít-ra-ên và tấn công vào căn cứ quân sự quan trọng nhất của phương nam.

But his sons shall be stirred up, and shall assemble a multitude of large forces; and one of them shall move onward, and overflow, and pass through, and shall again stir himself up to carry on the war even to his stronghold.

11 Vua phương nam nổi giận, tập trung quân đội tổng phản công và đánh tan quân đội phương bắc.

Then shall the king of the South be enraged, and shall come forth and fight with him, even with the king of the North; and shall lead forth a great multitude, and the multitude shall be given into his hand.

12 Say men chiến thắng, vua tàn sát hàng vạn chiến sĩ địch, nhưng chỉ áp đảo phương bắc được một thời gian ngắn.

And the multitude shall be elated, and his heart shall be lifted up, and he shall cast down tens of thousands; but he shall not be strong.

13 Vài năm sau, vua phương bắc sẽ quay lại tấn công phương nam kể cả các lực lượng Do Thái thân vua phương bắc,

For the king of the North shall return and raise up against him a multitude greater than the former, and shall steadily come after certain years with a great army and with great riches.

14 đúng như lời tiên tri, nhưng vẫn không đánh bại nổi quân đội phương nam.

And in those times many will stand up against the king of the South; and violent men of thy people shall exalt themselves, so as to establish the vision, and shall fall.

15 Vua phương bắc và các nước đồng minh sẽ đem quân bao vây một thành phương nam có hệ thống phòng thủ rất kiên cố. Lúc ấy, quân đội phương nam mới bị đánh bại.

And the king of the North shall come, and cast up a mound, and take a fortified city; and the arms of the South shall not withstand, neither his chosen men, neither shall there be any strength to withstand.

16 Vua phương bắc kéo đại quân vào chiếm đóng đất nước phương nam, như thác lũ, không lực lượng kháng chiến nào chặn đứng nổi. Vua cũng vào chiếm đóng xứ vinh quang và thả quân cướp bóc người dân.

And he that cometh against him shall do according to his will, and none shall stand before him; and he shall stand in the beautiful land, and destruction shall be in his hand.

17 Vua phương bắc lại dùng độc kế, giả ký kết ước liên minh với vua phương nam, gả công chúa cho vua phương nam để dùng công chúa làm nội tuyến, nhưng độc kế ấy thất bại.

And he shall set his face to come with the strength of his whole kingdom, and shall make pacification with him; and he shall give him his daughter in marriage, to ruin his dominion. But it shall not succeed, neither shall it be for him.

18 Sau đó, vua phương bắc sẽ chuyển quân về đánh chiếm các hải đảo, nhưng bị một tướng chỉ huy của quân địch chận đứng rồi đẩy lui.

After this he shall turn his face to the isles, and shall take many; but a commander shall put an end to his scorn; nay, shall cause his scorn to return upon himself.

19 Thất bại nhục nhã, vua quay về nước, nhưng nửa đường gặp nạn bất ngờ nên mất tích.

Then shall he turn his face to the strongholds of his own land; and he shall stumble, and fall, and shall not be found.

20 Vua kế vị sẽ cử một người thu thuế vô cùng hà khắc, bóc lột người Ít-ra-ên, nhưng vua chỉ trị vì một thời gian ngắn rồi chết cách bí mật, không phải vì thù hận hay chiến trận.

Then shall arise in his place one who shall send an exacter of tribute through the glory of his kingdom; but within few days shall he be destroyed, neither by anger nor by battle.

21 Vua mới lên ngôi là một kẻ gian ác, không phải là người được quyền kế vị nhưng khéo dùng lời xiểm nịnh và vận động ngầm mà cướp chính quyền nhân một cuộc khủng hoảng chính trị.

And in his place shall arise a despised person, to whom they shall not give the honor of the kingdom; but in the midst of peace he shall come in and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.

22 Tất cả lực lượng chống đối đều tan rã, kể cả vua của hiệp ước.

And the forces of a flood shall be overwhelmed before him, and shall be broken in pieces; and even the prince that is allied with him.

23 Vua hứa hẹn đủ điều nhưng chẳng bao giờ giữ lời hứa. Từ ban đầu, vua luôn luôn dùng thủ đoạn lừa bịp xảo quyệt nên bắt đầu chỉ có một nhóm nhỏ ủng hộ, nhưng chẳng bao lâu lực lượng trở nên hùng mạnh không ai chống nổi.

For after making a league with him, he will practise deceit; for he will come up, and prevail with a small people.

24 Vua sẽ thình lình tiến quân chiếm đóng những khu vực trù phú nhất trong nước và ra một chính sách chưa hề có trong lịch sử, là đem chiến lợi phẩm và tài sản chia cho dân. Vua sẽ bao vây và chiếm được rất nhiều căn cứ quân sự kiên cố, nhưng chỉ thành công được một thời gian.

In the midst of security shall he come into the fattest provinces of the land, and he shall do what his fathers never did, nor his fathers' fathers; he shall scatter among them prey, and spoil, and riches; and he shall form his devices against the strongholds, even to a set time.

25 Sau đó, vua sẽ hăng hái tuyển mộ và luyện tập một quân đội đông đảo rồi tấn công phương nam. Trong khi đó, vua phương nam cũng tổng động viên và đem đại quân phòng thủ đất nước, nhưng bị thất bại vì nội loạn.

And he shall stir up his power and his courage against the king of the South, with a great army; and the king of the South shall be stirred up to battle with a very great and mighty army; but he shall not stand, for they shall form devices against him.

26 Chính bọn tay chân của nhà vua đảo chánh, quân lính đào ngũ rất đông và nhiều tướng sĩ tử trận.

Even they that eat of his own food shall destroy him; and his army shall overflow, and many shall fall down slain.

27 Hai phe dù cùng ngồi vào bàn hội nghị hòa bình nhưng vẫn ngấm ngầm âm mưu lừa bịp và tiêu diệt nhau. Tuy nhiên, không một phe nào hoàn toàn thắng thế, cho đến thời điểm Chúa đã ấn định.

And the hearts of both these kings shall be to do mischief; and at one table shall they speak lies; but it shall not prosper; for yet the end is for the appointed time.

28 Sau khi chiến thắng, vua phương bắc sẽ rút quân về nước, đem theo rất nhiều chiến lợi phẩm. Trên đường về, quân đội phương bắc dừng chân tại Ít-ra-ên và tàn phá đất nước này.

Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and he will set his heart against the holy covenant, and he will execute his purposes, and return to his own land.

29 Đến thời điểm Chúa đã ấn định, vua phương bắc lại đem quân tiến xuống phương nam, đúng như lời của vua đe dọa. Nhưng khác hẳn hai lần trước, lần này quân đội phương bắc gặp trở lực bất ngờ.

At the appointed time he shall again go against the South; but the second time it shall not be as at the first.

30 Bị các tàu chiến Kít-tim đe dọa, vua phương bắc buộc lòng phải rút quân về nước. Căm thù vì thất bại nhục nhã, vua phương bắc liền trút niềm uất hận trên người dân của giao ước thánh và ưu ái những ai từ bỏ giao ước.

For the Chittaean ships shall come against him, and he shall be discouraged, and return, and be enraged against the holy covenant, and execute his purposes; and he shall again have an understanding with them that forsake the holy covenant.

31 Vua phương bắc sẽ lập những tên Do Thái tàn bạo lên cầm quyền trong nước trước khi rút đại quân về phương bắc. Những kẻ ấy đã chối bỏ niềm tin của tổ phụ.

And forces shall be raised by him, which shall pollute the sanctuary, the stronghold, and take away the daily sacrifice, and set up the abomination of the destroyer.

32 Vua sẽ đề cao những kẻ bội giao ước Chúa và kéo họ về phe mình. Nhưng những công dân đã biết Đức Chúa Trời sẽ quật khởi và lập nhiều thành tích lớn lao.

And such as do wickedly against the covenant will he lead to apostasy by flatteries; but the people that know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

33 Những người có thông thái giữa dân chúng sẽ dạy dỗ huấn luyện nhiều người. Nhưng mạng sống họ luôn luôn bị đe dọa, trong nhiều năm một số người sẽ bị lưu đày, tịch thu tài sản, hoặc bị xử tử bằng cực hình.

And they that have understanding among the people shall instruct many; but they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days.

34 Áp lực nặng nề rồi sẽ giảm bớt và một số người vô đạo sẽ đến giả bộ ủng hộ bợ đỡ nhưng chỉ lợi dụng họ mà thôi.

And whilst they fall they shall receive a little help, and many shall join themselves to them with flatteries.

35 Một số người khôn sáng ấy sẽ vấp ngã, nhưng lửa hoạn nạn càng thanh lọc, tôi luyện và thánh hóa họ cho đến cuối cùng là thời điểm Chúa đã định.

And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purify, and cleanse, even to the time of the end, for it is yet at the time appointed.

36 Vua phương bắc ngày càng cường thịnh. Vua tự cho mình cao hơn các thần thánh, xúc phạm đến Đức Chúa Trời bằng những lời vô cùng phạm thượng, nhưng vua vẫn cường thịnh cho đến hết thời hạn Chúa đoán phạt dân Ngài, vì chương trình Chúa đã ấn định phải được thi hành nghiêm chỉnh.

And the king shall do according to his will; and he will exalt himself and magnify himself against every god, and he will speak horrible things against the God of gods, and he will prosper until the indignation be accomplished; for that which is determined shall be done.

37 Vua chẳng quan tâm đến thần của tổ phụ mình, cũng chẳng đếm xỉa đến thần được giới phụ nữ hâm mộ, vua không sùng bái các thần vì vua tự cho mình còn linh hơn các thần ấy.

Neither will he regard the god of his fathers, nor the desire of women; nor will he regard any god, but he will magnify himself against all.

38 Vua chỉ biết thờ thần của các thành lũy: Vua sùng bái thần mà tổ phụ mình chưa biết, dâng hiến bạc vàng, ngọc ngà châu báu và các lễ vật quý nhất cho thần này.

But in their place will he honor the god of strongholds, even the god whom his fathers knew not shall he honor with gold, and with silver, and with precious stones, and with jewels.

39 Cậy thần ngoại bang, vua sẽ đánh tan các căn cứ quân sự kiên cố nhất. Vua sẽ trọng dụng những người đầu phục mình, bổ nhiệm họ giữ những chức vụ cao và chia đất cho họ để thưởng công.

And he shall do his will against fenced strongholds with a strange god; whoever acknowledge him, to them he will give great honor, and give them dominion over many, and divide the land amongst them for a reward.

40 Cuối cùng, vua phương nam sẽ tấn công vua phương bắc. Vua phương bắc dùng toàn lực phản công như vũ bão, tung chiến xa, kỵ binh, và nhiều tàu chiến đánh tan quân đội phương nam.

But at the time of the end shall the king of the South push at him, and the king of the North shall rush against him like a whirlwind with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and overflow them, and pass over them.

41 Trong cuộc tiến quân, họ sẽ chiếm đóng nhiều xứ, kể cả Ít-ra-ên là xứ vinh quang và lật đổ nhiều nước, nhưng Mô-áp, Ê-đôm, và phần lớn người Am-môn sẽ thoát nạn.

He shall also enter into the beautiful land, and multitudes shall be overthrown; but these shall escape out of his hand, Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the sons of Ammon.

42 Vua dang tay trên các nước, ngay cả Ai Cập cũng không thoát khỏi.

He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape.

43 Vua phương bắc sẽ chiếm đoạt các kho bảo vật của Ai Cập; Ly-bi và Ê-thi-ô-pi sẽ phục vụ vua.

And he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; and the Lybians and Ethiopians shall be in his train.

44 Tuy nhiên, tin từ phương đông và phương bắc sẽ gây hoang mang và đảo lộn tất cả kế hoạch hành quân, nên vua giận dữ rút quân để đi tiêu diệt các lực lượng chống đối.

But tidings out of the East and out of the North shall trouble him, and he shall go forth with great fury to destroy and utterly to take away many.

45 Vua đóng đại bản doanh giữa Giê-ru-sa-lem và bờ biển, nhưng thời vận của vua đã hết, tả hữu đều phản bội, không ai chịu phò vua nữa.”

And he shall pitch his palace-tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain; but he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
