Ða-ni-ên 1
1 Năm thứ ba triều Vua Giê-hô-gia-kim, nước Giu-đa, Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn đem quân bao vây Giê-ru-sa-lem.
In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, came Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, against Jerusalem, and besieged it.
2 Chúa Hằng Hữu giao nạp Giê-hô-gia-kim, vua Giu-đa vào tay Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, luôn với một phần khí dụng của Đền Thờ Đức Chúa Trời. Vua Ba-by-lôn cho chở các khí dụng ấy về cất kỹ trong kho tàng tại đền thờ thần mình ở xứ Si-nê-a.
And the Lord gave Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God; and he carried them into the land of Shinar, to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure-house of his god.
3 Vua Ba-by-lôn ra lệnh cho Ách-bê-na, viên quan đầu triều tuyển chọn trong bọn người Ít-ra-ên, trong vòng hoàng tộc và quý tộc,
And the king commanded Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the sons of Israel of the king's race, and of the princes,
4 một số thanh niên ưu tú, thân hình toàn hảo, tâm trí khôn ngoan, sáng suốt, học rộng tài cao và có khả năng phục vụ trong hoàng cung, để cho họ học tập ngôn ngữ và văn hóa Ba-by-lôn.
youths in whom was no blemish, and well favored, and skilful in all wisdom, and having knowledge and intelligence and strength, to stand as servants in the king's palace, and be taught the writing and the language of the Chaldaeans.
5 Nhà vua ấn định khẩu phần, cho họ mỗi ngày được ăn cao lương mỹ vị vua ăn, được uống rượu ngon vua uống liên tiếp trong ba năm. Sau đó, họ sẽ được vào phục vụ vua.
And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's food, and of the wine which he drank; so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand as servants before the king.
6 Trong số các thanh niên Giu-đa được tuyển chọn, có Đa-ni-ên, Ha-na-nia, Mi-sa-ên, và A-xa-ria.
Now among these were, of the sons of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.
7 Thái giám đổi tên họ như sau: Đa-ni-ên là Bên-tơ-sát-xa. Ha-na-nia là Sa-đơ-rắc. Mi-sa-ên là Mê-sác. A-xa-ria là A-bết-nê-gô.
And the prince of the eunuchs gave them other names. To Daniel he gave the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.
8 Đa-ni-ên vốn nhất quyết không để cho cao lương mỹ vị, rượu ngon nhà vua làm cho mình ô uế. Đa-ni-ên khẩn khoản xin thái giám đừng cho mình ăn uống các thứ ấy để khỏi tự bôi bẩn tấm thân.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
9 Đức Chúa Trời cảm động lòng thái giám nên ông ta thông cảm và đối xử dịu dàng với Đa-ni-ên.
And God gave Daniel favor and kindness from the prince of the eunuchs.
10 Nhưng thái giám bảo Đa-ni-ên: “Tôi chỉ sợ vua giận mà thôi. Vua đã tự tay chọn lựa thức ăn và rượu ngon cho các anh. Nếu các anh không lo tẩm bổ, để mặt mày gầy gò, hốc hác, khác hẳn các thanh niên kia, thì vua sẽ chém đầu tôi.”
And the prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink; for he might see your faces in worse condition than the youths of your age; then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
11 Đa-ni-ên yêu cầu Mên-sa, là người được thái giám cử làm người chỉ huy nhóm Đa-ni-ên, Ha-na-nia, Mi-sa-ên, và A-xa-ria:
Then said Daniel to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
12 “Ông vui lòng thí nghiệm mười ngày chỉ cho bốn anh em chúng tôi ăn rau, uống nước.
Try thy servants ten days, and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.
13 Sau mười ngày đó, xin ông so sánh sắc mặt chúng tôi với các thanh niên khác đã tẩm bổ bằng thức ăn và rượu ngon của vua. Lúc ấy, ông sẽ tùy nghi quyết định khẩu phần của chúng tôi.”
Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenances of the youths that eat of the portion of the king's meat; and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
14 Mên-sa chấp thuận đề nghị ấy và cho thử nghiệm mười ngày.
And he consented to them in this matter, and tried them ten days.
15 Sau thời gian thử nghiệm, mặt mày của nhóm Đa-ni-ên lại xinh tươi, đầy đặn hơn tất cả các thanh niên đã tẩm bổ bằng thực phẩm nhà vua.
And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the youths who ate the portion of the king's meat.
16 Vì thế, Mên-sa cất khẩu phần vua cấp cho bốn thanh niên này và chỉ cho họ ăn rau mà thôi.
So the steward took away the portion of their meat, and the wine which they should drink, and gave them pulse.
17 Đức Chúa Trời ban cho bốn thanh niên ấy trí óc thông minh khác thường, hiểu biết tất cả các ngành văn chương và học thuật. Đa-ni-ên còn hiểu biết các khải tượng và giải đoán mộng đủ loại.
And God gave these four youths knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
18 Sau khi hoàn tất thời gian huấn luyện vua ấn định phải đưa các thanh niên vào bệ kiến, viên quan đầu triều trình diện họ cho Vua Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa.
And at the end of the days, when the king had commanded him to bring them before him, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
19 Nhà vua tiếp xúc với từng người, thấy Đa-ni-ên, Ha-na-nia, Mi-sa-ên, và A-xa-ria vượt xa hẳn các thanh niên khác. Bốn thanh niên này được bổ nhiệm vào đứng chầu trong cung vua.
And the king conversed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they stood as servants before the king.
20 Trong tất cả các vấn đề tri thức đưa ra thảo luận, nhà vua phải nhìn nhận bốn thanh niên ấy còn uyên bác gấp mười các thuật sĩ và đồng cốt trong cả đế quốc.
And in all matters of wisdom and understanding concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the scribes and magicians that were in all his realm.
21 Đa-ni-ên cứ lưu trú tại Ba-by-lôn cho đến năm thứ nhất triều Vua Si-ru.
And Daniel lived even to the first year of Cyrus the king.
