Công Vụ Các Sứ đồ 13
1 Hội Thánh An-ti-ốt có năm nhà tiên tri và giáo sư: Ba-na-ba, Si-mê-ôn (còn được gọi là “người đen”), Lu-si-út quê ở Ly-bi, Ma-na-ên, em kết nghĩa của vua chư hầu Hê-rốt, và Sau-lơ.
Now, there were in the congregation that was at Antioch, certain prophets and teachers; particularly, Barnabas, and Simeon, who was called Niger, and Lucius, the Cyrenian, and Manaen, who was educated with Herod, the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 Hội Thánh đang thờ phượng Chúa và kiêng ăn, Chúa Thánh Linh bảo: “Hãy dành riêng Ba-na-ba và Sau-lơ cho Ta, để làm công việc Ta chỉ định.”
And as they were ministering to the Lord, and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, Separate to me Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them.
3 Sau khi kiêng ăn cầu nguyện, Hội Thánh đặt tay và tiễn hai ông lên đường.
And having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them; they dismissed them.
4 Được Chúa Thánh Linh ủy nhiệm, Ba-na-ba và Sau-lơ liền xuống Sê-lơ-xi đi thuyền đến đảo Síp.
They, therefore, being sent by the Holy Spirit, departed to Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus;
5 Cập bến Sa-la-min, họ lần lượt công bố Đạo của Đức Chúa Trời trong các hội đường Do Thái khắp đảo Síp. Giăng Mác cũng đi theo phụ tá.
and being arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; and they had also John for their attendant.
6 Sau khi đi khắp đảo, cuối cùng họ đến Pa-phô, ở đó có một phù thủy người Do Thái, là tiên tri giả tên Ba-giê-xu, biệt danh Ê-li-ma.
And having traversed the island, as far as Paphos, they found a certain Jew, a magician and false prophet, whose name was Barjesus;
7 Ba-giê-xu quen thân thống đốc Sê-giu Phao-lút. Thống đốc là người khôn ngoan, sai mời Ba-na-ba và Sau-lơ đến giảng Đạo Chúa.
who was with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who calling for Barnabas and Saul desired to hear the word of God.
8 Nhưng phù thủy Ê-li-ma chống đối hai ông, tìm cách khuyên thống đốc đừng tin Chúa.
But Elymas, the magician, (for that was his name, when translated, ) withstood them, endeavoring to turn away the proconsul from the faith.
9 Bấy giờ Sau-lơ cũng gọi là Phao-lô, được đầy dẫy Chúa Thánh Linh, quắc mắt nhìn tên phù thủy:
Then Saul, (who is also called Paul, ) being filled with the Holy Spirit, and looking steadfastly upon him,
10 “Anh là người đầy gian trá xảo quyệt, là ác quỷ, kẻ thù công lý! Anh không ngưng phá hoại công việc Chúa sao?
said, O! full of all deceit, and of all wickedness! child of the devil! enemy of all righteousness! will you not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
11 Này, Chúa ra tay phạt anh bị mù, không nhìn thấy mặt trời một thời gian.” Lập tức bóng tối dày đặc bao phủ Ê-li-ma. Anh ta phải quờ quạng tìm người dẫn dắt.
And, behold, now the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, and not see the sun for a time. And, immediately, a mist and darkness fell upon him; and going about, he sought some to lead him by the hand.
12 Thấy việc phi thường, thống đốc liền tin Chúa và ngạc nhiên về Đạo Chúa.
Then the proconsul, seeing what was done, believed; being struck with the doctrine of the Lord.
13 Phao-lô và các bạn từ Pa-phô xuống tàu đi Bẹt-ga, xứ Bam-phi-ly, còn Giăng Mác rời họ trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem.
And loosing from Paphos, they who were with Paul, came to Perga, in Pamphylia; but John withdrew himself from them, and returned to Jerusalem.
14 Từ Bẹt-ga, họ đến An-ti-ốt xứ Bi-si-đi. Vào ngày Sa-bát, họ vào thăm hội đường Do Thái.
Nevertheless, they, going on from Perga, came to Antioch, in Pisidia: and entering into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, they sat down.
15 Sau khi đọc sách luật Môi-se và các sách tiên tri, các quản lý hội đường sai người mời Phao-lô và Ba-na-ba: “Thưa các anh em, nếu các anh có lời khích lệ dân chúng, xin cứ nói!”
And after the reading of the law and the prophets; the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation to the people, speak it.
16 Phao-lô đứng dậy đưa tay chào và nói: “Thưa toàn dân Ít-ra-ên và anh chị em dân ngoại, là những người có lòng kính sợ Đức Chúa Trời, xin lắng nghe tôi.
Then Paul stood up, and waiving his hand, said, Men of Israel, and you that fear God, hearken.
17 Đức Chúa Trời của dân tộc Ít-ra-ên đã chọn tổ tiên chúng ta, cho họ thịnh vượng tại xứ Ai Cập, dùng quyền năng phi thường dìu dắt họ ra khỏi xứ đó.
The God of this people chose our fathers, and raised the people while sojourning in the land of Egypt; and led them out of it with an uplifted arm.
18 Suốt bốn mươi năm, Ngài nhẫn nại chịu đựng họ giữa hoang mạc.
And for a space of about forty years, he endured their behavior in the wilderness.
19 Sau khi tiêu diệt bảy dân tộc xứ Ca-na-an, Ngài chia đất cho họ làm sản nghiệp.
And having cast out seven nations in the land of Canaan, he distributed their country to them for an inheritance.
20 Tất cả điều đó diễn ra trong 450 năm. Sau đó, Đức Chúa Trời lập các phán quan lãnh đạo họ đến đời tiên tri Sa-mu-ên.
And after these transactions, which lasted about four hundred and fifty years' he gave them judges, till Samuel the prophet.
21 Theo lời thỉnh cầu của dân chúng, Đức Chúa Trời lập Sau-lơ, con trai Kích, thuộc đại tộc Bên-gia-min làm vua trong bốn mươi năm.
And, from that time, they desired a king: and God gave them Saul, the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for the term of forty years.
22 Nhưng Đức Chúa Trời truất phế Sau-lơ và đặt Đa-vít lên ngôi, người được Đức Chúa Trời chứng nhận: ‘Ta đã tìm thấy Đa-vít, con trai Gie-sê, là người làm Ta hài lòng; Đa-vít sẽ thực hiện chương trình Ta.’
And, having removed him, he raised up to them David, for a king; whom also he extolled, and said, "I have found David, the son of Jesse, a man according to my own heart, who shall do all my will."
23 Đúng theo lời hứa, Đức Chúa Trời lập Chúa Giê-xu, hậu tự Vua Đa-vít làm Đấng Cứu Rỗi của Ít-ra-ên!
Of this man's seed, according to the promise, God raised up to Israel, Jesus, the Saviour;
24 Trước khi Chúa đến, Giăng Báp-tít đã dạy dân Ít-ra-ên phải ăn năn tội lỗi và chịu báp-tem.
John having, to introduce his appearance, before he preached the immersion of reformation to all the people of Israel.
25 Khi hoàn thành nhiệm vụ, Giăng tuyên bố: ‘Anh em tưởng tôi là Đấng Mết-si-a sao? Không, tôi không phải là Đấng ấy! Nhưng Chúa sẽ sớm đến—tôi không đáng hầu hạ và mở quai dép cho Ngài.’
And when John was fulfilling his course, he said, Whom do you imagine me to be? I am not He; but behold, there comes one after me, the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.
26 Thưa anh chị em—con cháu Áp-ra-ham và anh chị em dân ngoại, là những người có lòng kính sợ Đức Chúa Trời—sứ điệp cứu rỗi đã đến với chúng ta!
Brethren, children of the family of Abraham, and those among you that fear God; to you is the word of this salvation sent:
27 Vì dân thành Giê-ru-sa-lem và các cấp lãnh đạo không nhận biết Chúa Giê-xu, là Đấng đã được các vị tiên tri nói đến. Thay vào đó, họ kết án Ngài, và việc này làm ứng nghiệm các lời tiên tri thường được đọc trong ngày Sa-bát.
for the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and their rulers, not knowing him, nor the sayings of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath day; have fulfilled them in condemning him.
28 Dù không tìm được lý do khép Ngài vào tội tử hình, nhưng họ vẫn cứ xin Phi-lát giết Ngài.
And though they could find no cause of death in him; yet they requested Pilate that he might be executed.
29 Sau khi làm ứng nghiệm mọi lời đã chép về Chúa, họ gỡ thi thể Ngài khỏi cây thập tự và đặt trong ngôi mộ.
And when they had accomplished all things that were written concerning him; taking him down from the cross, they laid him in a tomb.
30 Nhưng Đức Chúa Trời đã khiến Ngài sống lại!
But God raised him up from the dead:
31 Trong nhiều ngày liên tiếp Chúa hiện ra gặp những người từng theo Ngài từ xứ Ga-li-lê đến Giê-ru-sa-lem. Hiện nay họ còn làm chứng về Ngài cho người Ít-ra-ên.
and he appeared for several days to those that came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.
32 Chúng tôi xin công bố Phúc Âm cho quý vị. Điều Đức Chúa Trời hứa với tổ tiên chúng ta ngày trước,
And we bring you good tidings, that the very promise which was made to the fathers,
33 Ngài đã thực hiện trong thời đại chúng ta, Ngài đã khiến Chúa Giê-xu sống lại. Như Thi Thiên thứ hai đã viết về Chúa Giê-xu: ‘Ngươi là Con Ta. Ngày nay Ta là Cha Ngươi.’
God has accomplished to us, their children, in raising up Jesus: as it is also written in the second Psalm, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee."
34 Vì Đức Chúa Trời hứa cho Ngài sống lại, không bao giờ để Ngài bị mục nát trong mộ phần. Đức Chúa Trời phán: ‘Ta sẽ cho Con đặc ân mà Ta đã hứa với Đa-vít.’
And because he has raised him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he has spoken thus, "I will give you the sure mercies of David."
35 Và ‘Chúa không để Đấng Thánh Ngài bị mục nát.’
Wherefore, also, in another place he says, "Thou wilt not permit thy Holy One to see corruption."
36 Lời hứa ấy không phải nói về Đa-vít, vì sau khi phục vụ Đức Chúa Trời suốt đời, Đa-vít đã chết, được an táng bên cạnh tổ phụ, và thi hài cũng rữa nát như mọi người.
Now David, having served his own generation according to the will of God; fell asleep, and was gathered to his fathers, and saw corruption.
37 Không, lời ấy nói về một Đấng khác—Đấng được Đức Chúa Trời khiến sống lại và thân thể Ngài không hề mục nát.
But he whom God raised up, did not see corruption.
38 Vậy thưa anh chị em, chúng tôi ở đây để công bố rằng nhờ Chúa Giê-xu, chúng ta được ơn tha tội của Đức Chúa Trời:
Be it known, therefore, to you, brethren, that by Him remission of sins is proclaimed to you:
39 Ai tin Chúa Cứu Thế đều được Đức Chúa Trời thừa nhận là người công chính. Đó là điều mà luật pháp Môi-se không bao giờ làm được.
and by Him, every one that believes is justified from all things; from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.
40 Xin quý vị thận trọng vì có lời tiên tri cảnh cáo:
See to it, therefore, that what is spoken in the prophets may not come upon you:
41 ‘Này, những người nhạo báng, hãy kinh ngạc, rồi bị diệt vong! Vì trong đời các ngươi Ta sẽ làm một việc, một việc các ngươi không thể tin dù có người thuật lại các ngươi cũng chẳng tin.’”
"Behold, you despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I perform a work in your days; a work which you will not believe, though one should distinctly declare it to you."
42 Khi Phao-lô và Ba-na-ba bước ra khỏi hội đường, dân chúng nài nỉ hai ông trở lại giảng thêm Đạo Chúa vào tuần sau.
Now, when going out, they requested that these words might be spoken to them, on the following Sabbath.
43 Giải tán xong, nhiều người Do Thái và người bản xứ theo đạo Do Thái đi theo Phao-lô và Ba-na-ba. Hai ông nói chuyện với họ và khích lệ họ tiếp tục sống trong ơn Chúa.
And when the synagogue was broke up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who, speaking to them, persuaded them to persevere in the favor of God.
44 Tuần sau đó, hầu hết dân trong thành tập họp để nghe Đạo Chúa.
And, on the following Sabbath, almost the whole city was gathered together, to hear the word of God.
45 Thấy quần chúng đông đảo, các nhà lãnh đạo Do Thái sinh lòng ganh tị, phản đối những lời Phao-lô giảng dạy và nhục mạ ông.
But the Jews, seeing the multitudes, were filled with zeal; and opposed the things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and reviling.
46 Phao-lô và Ba-na-ba dõng dạc tuyên bố: “Đạo Chúa được truyền giảng cho anh chị em trước, nhưng anh chị em khước từ và xét mình không đáng được sống vĩnh cửu, nên chúng tôi quay sang dân ngoại. (aiōnios g166)
Then Paul and Barnabas, with great freedom of speech, said, It was necessary, that the word of God should first be spoken to you; but since you thrust it away from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life; behold, we turn to the Gentiles. (aiōnios g166)
47 Vì Chúa đã truyền dạy chúng tôi: ‘Ta dùng con làm ánh sáng cho các dân ngoại, để truyền Đạo cứu rỗi khắp thế giới.’”
For so the Lord has charged us, saying, "I have set you for a light of the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth."
48 Khi dân ngoại nghe xong đều vui mừng ca tụng Phúc Âm. Những người được định cho sự sống vĩnh cửu đều tin Chúa. (aiōnios g166)
And the Gentiles hearing this, rejoiced, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were disposed for eternal life, believed. (aiōnios g166)
49 Đạo Chúa được truyền bá khắp miền đó.
And the word of the Lord was published throughout all that region.
50 Nhưng các nhà lãnh đạo Do Thái xúi giục các phụ nữ quý phái sùng đạo Do Thái và các nhà chức trách thành phố tụ tập đám đông chống nghịch Phao-lô và Ba-na-ba, đuổi hai ông khỏi lãnh thổ.
But the Jews stirred up some devout women of considerable rank, and the magistrates of the city; and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their territories.
51 Hai ông giũ áo ra đi, đến thành Y-cô-ni.
And they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium.
52 Còn các tín hữu được đầy dẫy Chúa Thánh Linh và tràn ngập vui mừng.
But the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Spirit.
