II Sa-mu-ên 13

1 Hoàng tử Áp-sa-lôm, con Vua Đa-vít có một em gái rất đẹp tên là Ta-ma. Am-nôn, anh cùng cha khác mẹ của nàng, say mê nàng.

And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister whose name was Tamar. And Amnon the son of David loved her.

2 Nhưng vì Công chúa Ta-ma là một trinh nữ nên Am-nôn khó lòng tiếp xúc với nàng. Am-nôn sinh ra tương tư đến bệnh.

And Amnon was so frustrated that he fell sick because of his sister Tamar. For she was a virgin, and it seemed hard to Amnon to do anything to her.

3 Am-nôn có một người bạn rất khôn lanh tên là Giô-na-đáp, con Si-mê-i, anh Đa-vít.

But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother. And Jonadab was a very sly man.

4 Một hôm Giô-na-đáp hỏi Am-nôn: “Sao hoàng tử mỗi ngày một tiều tụy vậy? Có chuyện gì không?” Am-nôn tâm sự: “Tôi yêu say mê Ta-ma, em của Áp-sa-lôm.”

And he said to him, Why, O son of the king, are thou emaciated this way from day to day? Will thou not tell me? And Amnon said to him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

5 Giô-na-đáp bàn kế: “Này nhá, hoàng tử giả bệnh, nằm trên giường, khi vua cha đến thăm, hoàng tử nói: ‘Xin cho Ta-ma đến đây nấu nướng, săn sóc miếng ăn cho con.’”

And Jonadab said to him, Lie down on thy bed, and feign thyself sick. And when thy father comes to see thee, say to him, Let my sister Tamar come, I pray thee, and give me bread to eat, and dress the food in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it from her hand.

6 Vậy, Am-nôn theo kế thi hành. Khi vua đến, Am-nôn xin vua cho Ta-ma em gái mình đến làm bánh cho mình ăn.

So Amnon lay down, and feigned himself sick. And when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, Let my sister Tamar come, I pray thee, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat from her hand.

7 Đa-vít sai người gọi Ta-ma, bảo nàng đến nhà Am-nôn, nấu ăn cho anh.

Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and make food for him.

8 Ta-ma đến, lấy bột nhồi, làm bánh đem nướng trước mặt anh mình. Lúc ấy Am-nôn đang nằm trên giường.

So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house, and he was laid down. And she took dough, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.

9 Nhưng khi nàng đem bánh lên, Am-nôn từ chối không ăn, bảo: “Mọi người khác ra đi khỏi đây.” Họ vâng lời, ra khỏi nhà.

And she took the pan, and poured them out before him, but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have all men out from me. And they went out every man from him.

10 Am-nôn nói với Ta-ma: “Bưng bánh vào phòng cho anh ăn.” Ta-ma vâng lời anh.

And Amnon said to Tamar, Bring the food into the chamber that I may eat from thy hand. And Tamar took the cakes that she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

11 Nhưng khi nàng đem bánh tới, Am-nôn nắm lấy nàng, nói: “Ngủ với anh.”

And when she had brought them near to him to eat, he took hold of her, and said to her, Come, lie with me, my sister.

12 Nàng phản đối: “Đừng anh, đừng ép tôi. Trong Ít-ra-ên không ai làm chuyện ô nhục điên rồ như thế.

And she answered him, No, my brother, do not force me, for no such thing ought to be done in Israel. Do not do thou this folly.

13 Phần tôi, tôi sẽ mang nhục này đi đâu? Còn anh, sẽ bị coi là phường phóng đãng. Vậy, xin anh hãy thưa với vua, chắc vua sẽ không cấm anh cưới tôi đâu.”

And I, where shall I carry my shame? And as for thee, thou will be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from thee.

14 Nhưng Am-nôn không chịu nghe nàng và dùng sức mạnh cưỡng hiếp nàng.

However he would not hearken to her voice, but being stronger than she, he forced her, and lay with her.

15 Rồi bỗng nhiên, Am-nôn đổi yêu ra ghét. Bây giờ Am-nôn ghét nàng còn hơn khi say mê nàng nữa, nên quay sang đuổi nàng: “Đi ra khỏi đây!”

Then Amnon hated her with exceedingly great hatred, for the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, Arise, be gone.

16 Ta-ma nói: “Đừng anh, đừng làm một việc xấu hơn việc anh vừa mới làm.” Nhưng Am-nôn không nghe,

And she said to him, Not so, because this great wrong in putting me forth is worse than the other that thou did to me. But he would not hearken to her.

17 gọi đầy tớ bảo đuổi nàng ra rồi đóng cửa lại.

Then he called his servant who ministered to him, and said, Put this woman out from me now, and bolt the door after her.

18 Vậy, đầy tớ kéo nàng ra ngoài và đóng cửa lại. Lúc ấy nàng mặc một chiếc áo dài có tay cũng như các công chúa trinh trắng khác thường mặc.

And she had a garment of various colors upon her, for with such robes were the king's daughters who were virgins appareled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

19 Ta-ma lấy tro bỏ lên đầu, xé rách áo dài đang mặc, hai tay ôm đầu, vừa đi vừa khóc.

And Tamar put ashes on her head, and tore her garment of various colors that was on her. And she laid her hand on her head, and went her way, crying aloud as she went.

20 Áp-sa-lôm, anh Ta-ma, hỏi nàng: “Am-nôn cưỡng hiếp em phải không? Từ giờ em hãy giữ im lặng. Dù sao người ấy cũng là anh của em. Không cần phải lo lắng.” Từ đó, Ta-ma sống cô đơn buồn thảm trong nhà Áp-sa-lôm, anh mình.

And Absalom her brother said to her, Has Amnon thy brother been with thee? But now hold thy peace, my sister. He is thy brother. Do not take this thing to heart. So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.

21 Vua Đa-vít nghe được chuyện này, rất tức giận.

But when king David heard of all these things, he was very angry.

22 Còn Áp-sa-lôm ghét cay ghét đắng Am-nôn về việc người ấy đã làm với em mình.

And Absalom spoke to Amnon neither good nor bad, for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

23 Hai năm sau, nhân dịp Áp-sa-lôm có cuộc xén lông chiên ở Ba-anh Hát-so, gần Ép-ra-im, Áp-sa-lôm sai mời tất cả các hoàng tử đến dự.

And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheep-shearers in Baal-hazor, which is beside Ephraim, and Absalom invited all the king's sons.

24 Ông đến thưa với vua: “Nhân ngày con tổ chức xén lông chiên, xin mời vua và quần thần đến chơi.”

And Absalom came to the king, and said, Behold now, thy servant has sheep-shearers. Let the king, I pray thee, and his servants go with thy servant.

25 Vua đáp: “Không nên, nếu mọi người kéo tới thì con sẽ không lo xuể.” Dù Áp-sa-lôm năn nỉ, vua chỉ chúc phước cho chứ không nhận lời.

And the king said to Absalom, No, my son, let us not all go, lest we be burdensome to thee. And he pressed him. However he would not go, but blessed him.

26 Áp-sa-lôm lại thưa: “Nếu cha không đi, xin cho anh Am-nôn đi vậy.” Vua hỏi: “Tại sao Am-nôn phải đi?”

Then Absalom said, If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said to him, Why should he go with thee?

27 Nhưng Áp-sa-lôm năn nỉ mãi cho đến khi vua bằng lòng cho Am-nôn và các hoàng tử đi.

But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

28 Áp-sa-lôm dặn các đầy tớ mình: “Hãy đợi khi Am-nôn uống say; ta sẽ ra dấu thì các ngươi giết hắn! Đừng sợ, vì các ngươi chỉ vâng theo lệnh ta.”

And Absalom commanded his servants, saying, Notice ye now, when Amnon's heart is merry with wine, and when I say to you, Smite Amnon, then kill him. Fear not; have I not commanded you? Be courageous, and be valiant.

29 Vậy, các đầy tớ Áp-sa-lôm giết Am-nôn theo lệnh chủ. Các hoàng tử khác vội vàng cưỡi la chạy trốn.

And the servants of Absalom did to Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got up upon his mule, and fled.

30 Họ chưa về tới, Đa-vít được tin báo “Áp-sa-lôm giết hết các hoàng tử, không sót một người.”

And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that the news came to David, saying, Absalom has slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

31 Vua đứng dậy, xé áo mình, rồi phủ phục dưới đất. Quần thần có mặt tại đó cũng đều xé áo mình.

Then the king arose, and tore his garments, and lay on the earth, and all his servants stood by with their clothes torn.

32 Lúc ấy, Giô-na-đáp, con Si-mê-i, anh Đa-vít, lên tiếng: “Không phải tất cả các hoàng tử đều bị giết đâu. Chỉ một mình Am-nôn chết mà thôi. Vì Áp-sa-lôm đã chủ tâm xếp đặt việc này từ ngày Ta-ma bị Am-nôn cưỡng hiếp.

And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother, answered and said, Let not my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men the king's sons, for Amnon only is dead. For by the command of Absalom this has been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.

33 Vậy xin đừng buồn phiền quá về chuyện ấy vì tưởng rằng các con trai vua đều chết hết. Chỉ một mình Am-nôn chết mà thôi”

Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead, for only Amnon is dead.

34 Lúc ấy, Áp-sa-lôm bỏ trốn. Người lính đứng trên vọng canh nhìn ra, thấy một đám đông từ xa đi tới theo lối ven đồi.

But Absalom fled. And the young man who kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the way of the hill-side behind him.

35 Giô-na-đáp thưa với Đa-vít: “Các hoàng tử về đó! Đúng như tôi vừa nói.”

And Jonadab said to the king, Behold, the king's sons have come; as thy servant said, so it is.

36 Vừa lúc ấy các hoàng tử chạy vào, khóc lóc. Vua và quần thần cũng khóc.

And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice, and wept. And the king also and all his servants wept very much.

37 Đa-vít ngày ngày khóc thương con mình là Am-nôn. Còn Áp-sa-lôm chạy đến Ghê-sua, ở với vua Thanh-mai, con A-mi-hút.

But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai the son of Ammihur, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.

38 Áp-sa-lôm ở lại Ghê-sua ba năm.

So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

39 Lúc ấy, Vua Đa-vít bắt đầu nguôi ngoai việc Am-nôn mất, ông chạnh nhớ đến Áp-sa-lôm.

And the soul of king David longed to go forth to Absalom, for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.
