II Các Vua 7
1 Ê-li-sê đáp: “Xin lắng tai nghe lời Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: ‘Ngày mai, vào giờ này, một đấu bột lọc bán một miếng bạc, hai đấu lúa mạch cũng bán một miếng bạc ngay tại cửa thành Sa-ma-ri.’”
And Elisaie said, Hear you the word of the Lord; Thus says the Lord, As at this time, to-morrow a measure of fine flour [shall be sold] for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gates of Samaria.
2 Cận thần của vua nói với người của Đức Chúa Trời: “Dù cho Chúa Hằng Hữu có mở các cửa sổ trên trời, việc ấy cũng không thể nào xảy ra được.” Ê-li-sê đáp: “Mắt ông sẽ thấy việc ấy, nhưng ông sẽ không ăn được gì cả.”
And the officer on whose hand the king rested, answered Elisaie, and said, Behold, [if] the Lord shall make flood-gates in heaven, might this thing be? and Elisaie said, Behold, you shall see with your eyes, but shall not eat thereof.
3 Lúc ấy có bốn người phong ngồi ngoài cửa thành Sa-ma-ri. Họ bàn với nhau: “Tại sao chúng ta đành ngồi đây chờ chết?
And there were four leprous men by the gate of the city: and one said to his neighbour, Why sit we here until we die?
4 Ngồi đây cũng chết đói, mà vào thành cũng chết đói. Chi bằng cứ liều qua trại quân A-ram. Nếu họ tha cho, chúng ta sẽ sống; nếu không, đằng nào cũng chết!”
If we should say, Let us go into the city, then [there is] famine in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit here, then we shall die. Now then come, and let us fall upon the camp of the Syrians: if they should take us alive, then we shall live; and if they should put us to death, then we shall [only] die.
5 Vậy, vào lúc hoàng hôn, họ qua trại quân A-ram. Đến nơi, họ chẳng thấy ai cả!
And they rose up while it was yet night, to go into the camp of Syria; and they came into a part of the camp of Syria, and behold, there [was] no man there.
6 Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu có cho quân A-ram nghe tiếng chiến xa, tiếng vó ngựa và tiếng quân đội di chuyển nên họ bảo nhau: “Vua Ít-ra-ên thuê quân Hê-tít và quân Ai Cập đến tấn công ta!”
For the Lord had made the army of Syria to hear a sound of chariots, and a sound of horses, [even] the sound of a great host: and [each] man said to his fellow, Now has the king of Israel hired against us the kings of the Chettites, and the kings of Egypt, to come against us.
7 Thế rồi, họ vùng chạy vào bóng đêm để mong thoát thân, bỏ lại trại, ngựa, lừa, và tất cả mọi thứ.
And they arose and fled while it was yet dark, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses in the camp, as they were, and fled for their lives.
8 Mấy người phong hủi đến một trong mười trại quân, ăn uống rồi lấy vàng bạc, áo quần đem đi giấu. Họ trở lại, vào trại khác lấy đồ đạc đem đi giấu nốt.
And these lepers entered a little way into the camp, and went into one tent, and ate and drank, and took thence silver, and gold, and raiment; and they went and returned thence, and entered into another tent, and took thence, and went and hid [the spoil].
9 Sau đó, họ bảo nhau: “Làm thế này thật không phải. Hôm nay có tin mừng, nếu chúng ta không chịu đi báo tin, đợi đến sáng thì trễ mất, chúng ta sẽ bị đoán phạt. Bây giờ chúng ta đi báo cho mọi người.”
And [one] man said to his neighbour, We are not doing [well] thus: this day is a day of glad tidings, and we hold our peace, and are waiting till the morning light, and shall find mischief: now them come, and let us go into [the city], and report to the house of the king.
10 Và họ đi gọi những người canh cổng thành, nói: “Chúng tôi đến trại quân A-ram, thấy không có ai ở đó cả. Trại bỏ không, ngựa và lừa còn buộc cả đó!”
So they went and cried towards the gate of the city, and reported to them, saying, We went into the camp of Syria, and, behold, there is not there a man, nor voice of man, only horses tied and asses, and their tents as they were.
11 Lính canh cho người vào cung vua trình báo.
And the porters cried aloud, and reported to the house of the king within.
12 Vua choàng thức dậy, nghe tin tỏ ý ngờ vực: “Ta biết đây là mưu của người A-ram. Họ thấy ta đang đói, nên vờ bỏ trại, ra phục ngoài đồng và dặn: ‘Khi địch quân ra khỏi thành, ta sẽ bắt sống họ, rồi vào chiếm thành.’”
And the king rose up by night, and said to his servants, I will now tell you what the Syrians have done to us. They knew that we are hungry; and they have gone forth from the camp and hidden themselves in the field, saying, They will come out of the city, and we shall catch them alive, and go into the city.
13 Một cận thần của vua đề nghị: “Xin vua sai vài người bắt năm con ngựa trong số còn lại, đi xem thử. Nếu họ quay về, họ sẽ như những người Ít-ra-ên còn sống sót tại đây; còn nếu có việc gì xảy ra, họ cũng chết như những người Ít-ra-ên đã chết mà thôi.”
And one of his servants answered and said, Let them now take five of the horses that were left, which were left here; behold, they are the number left to all the multitude of Israel; and we will send there and see.
14 Và như thế, hai cỗ xe ngựa được chuẩn bị cho những người được vua sai đi để dò xem chuyện gì đã xảy ra với quân A-ram.
So they took two horsemen; and the king of Israel sent after the king of Syria, saying, Go, and see.
15 Họ theo dấu quân A-ram đến tận Sông Giô-đan, thấy dọc đường áo quần, đồ đạc bỏ ngổn ngang. Đó là những vật quân A-ram bỏ lại trong lúc vội vàng thoát thân. Họ quay về phúc trình vua Ít-ra-ên.
And they went after them even to Jordan: and, behold, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their panic. and the messengers returned, and brought word to the king.
16 Dân chúng đổ ra cướp trại người A-ram. Và vì thế, một đấu bột lọc bán một miếng bạc, hai đấu lúa mạch cũng bán một miếng bạc, đúng như lời Chúa Hằng Hữu đã phán.
And the people went out, and plundered the camp of Syria: and a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, according to the word of the Lord, and two measures of barley for a shekel.
17 Vua có chỉ định người hầu cận mình phụ trách việc kiểm soát cổng thành, nhưng sĩ quan này bị đám đông giẫm chết tại đó. Sự việc này đã được người của Đức Chúa Trời nói trước khi vua đến tìm ông.
And the king appointed the officer on whose hand the king leaned [to have charge] over the gate: and the people trampled on him in the gate, and he died, as the man of God [had] said, who spoke when the messenger came down to him.
18 Lúc ấy, người của Đức Chúa Trời nói trước về giá cả của bột lọc và lúa mạch đem bán tại cổng thành Sa-ma-ri ngày hôm sau.
So it came to pass as Elisaie had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley [shall be sold] for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel; and it shall be as at this time to-morrow in the gate of Samaria.
19 Nghe xong, quan hầu cận có nói: “Cho dù Chúa Hằng Hữu có mở các cửa sổ trên trời, việc ấy cũng không thể nào xảy ra được!” Và người của Đức Chúa Trời đáp: “Ông sẽ thấy việc ấy tận mắt, nhưng không được ăn gì cả.”
And the officer answered Elisaie, and said, Behold, [if] the Lord makes flood-gates in heaven, shall this thing be? and Elisaie said, Behold, you shall see [it] with your eyes, but you shall not eat thereof.
20 Và việc đã xảy ra đúng như thế, đám đông đè bẹp vị quan ấy tại cổng thành khi họ đổ xô đi tìm thực phẩm!
And it was so: for the people trampled on him in the gate, and he died.
