1 Lúc ấy, Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn đem quân đến đánh Giu-đa. Sau ba năm chịu thần phục, Giê-hô-gia-kim nổi lên chống lại Ba-by-lôn.
In Jehoiakim's days, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked Judah; Jehoiakim became his servant for three years. Then Jehoiakim turned back and rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar.
2 Chúa khiến các nước Canh-đê, A-ram, Mô-áp, và Am-môn đem quân đến tàn phá Giu-đa theo lời Chúa Hằng Hữu đã dùng các tiên tri đầy tớ Ngài phán trước.
Yahweh sent against Jehoiakim bands of Chaldeans, Arameans, Moabites, and Ammonites; he sent them against Judah to destroy it. This was in conformity with the word of Yahweh that had been spoken through his servants the prophets.
3 Hiển nhiên việc Giu-đa gặp tai họa là do Chúa Hằng Hữu xếp đặt. Ngài muốn đuổi họ đi khỏi mặt Ngài, vì tội lỗi tràn ngập của Ma-na-se,
It was certainly at the mouth of Yahweh that this came on Judah, to remove them out of his sight, because of the sins of Manasseh, all that he did,
4 người đã làm cho Giê-ru-sa-lem đầy dẫy máu vô tội, đến độ Chúa Hằng Hữu không tha thứ được nữa.
and also because of the innocent blood that he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood. Yahweh was not willing to pardon that.
5 Các việc khác của Giê-hô-gia-kim đều được chép trong Sách Lịch Sử Các Vua Giu-đa.
As for the other matters concerning Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Judah?
6 Giê-hô-gia-kim an giấc với tổ tiên, và Giê-hô-gia-kin con vua lên kế vị.
Jehoiakim slept with his ancestors, and Jehoiachin his son became king in his place.
7 Từ khi vua Ba-by-lôn chiếm cả vùng, từ suối Ai Cập cho đến sông Ơ-phơ-rát, là vùng trước kia thuộc Ai Cập, vua Ai Cập không còn lai vãng đến đất Giu-đa nữa.
The king of Egypt did not attack any more out of his land, because the king of Babylon had conquered all the lands that had been controlled by the king of Egypt, from the brook of Egypt to the Euphrates River.
8 Giê-hô-gia-kin được mười tám tuổi lúc lên ngôi, cai trị ba tháng tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua là Nê-hu-ta, con Ên-na-than, ở Giê-ru-sa-lem.
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign; he reigned in Jerusalem three months. His mother's name was Nehushta; she was the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
9 Vua làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, như các vua đời trước.
He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh; he did all that his father had done.
10 Khi quân Ba-by-lôn do Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa, vua Ba-by-lôn, đích thân chỉ huy kéo đến vây Giê-ru-sa-lem,
At that time the army of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon attacked Jerusalem and besieged the city.
11 Vua Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa của Ba-by-lôn đến trước thành, đang khi quân đội của vua đang bao vây nó.
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to the city while his soldiers were besieging it,
12 Vua Giê-hô-gia-kin của Giu-đa cùng với mẹ vua, các cận thần, các tướng lãnh, và các triều thần ra đầu hàng vua Ba-by-lôn. Vua Ba-by-lôn bắt Giê-hô-gia-kin sau khi lên ngôi được tám năm.
and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, his mother, his servants, his princes, and his officers. The king of Babylon captured him in the eighth year of his own reign.
13 Người Ba-by-lôn chở về nước tất cả bảo vật của Đền Thờ và hoàng cung. Họ bóc hết vàng bọc các dụng cụ trong Đền Thờ từ đời Sa-lô-môn. Những việc này xảy ra đúng như lời Chúa Hằng Hữu phán trước.
Nebuchadnezzar took out from there all the valuable things in the house of Yahweh, and those in the king's palace. He cut into pieces all the golden objects that Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of Yahweh, as Yahweh had said would happen.
14 Vua Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa bắt đi mọi người dân Giê-ru-sa-lem, tất cả tướng lãnh, và những chiến sĩ dũng mãnh, thợ mộc, và thợ rèn—gồm tất cả là 10.000 người bị đem đi lưu đày. Ngoại trừ những người nghèo khổ cùng cực trong xứ.
He took into exile all Jerusalem, all the leaders, and all the fighting men, ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths. No one was left except the poorest people in the land.
15 Vậy Vua Nê-bu-cát-nết-sa bắt vua Giê-hô-gia-kin đem về Ba-by-lôn cùng với thái hậu, hoàng hậu, các thái giám, và hoàng tộc trong thành Giê-ru-sa-lem,
Nebuchadnezzar took Jehoiachin into exile at Babylon, as well as the king's mother, wives, officers, and the chief men of the land. He took them into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.
16 luôn cả 7.000 lính thiện chiến và 1.000 thợ đủ loại, kể cả thợ mộc và thợ rèn. Đó là những người mà vua Ba-by-lôn bắt lưu đày sang Ba-by-lôn
All the fighting men, seven thousand in number, and one thousand craftsmen and blacksmiths, all of them fit for fighting—the king of Babylon brought these men into exile at Babylon.
17 Vua Ba-by-lôn đặt Mát-ta-nia, chú của Giê-hô-gia-kin, lên làm vua và đổi tên là Sê-đê-kia.
The king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin's father's brother, king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
18 Sê-đê-kia được mười tám tuổi lúc lên ngôi, cai trị mười một năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua là Ha-mu-ta, con Giê-rê-mi ở Líp-na.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hamutal; she was the daughter of Jeremiah from Libnah.
19 Vua làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu như Giê-hô-gia-kim đã làm.
He did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh; he did all that Jehoiakim had done.
20 Những việc này xảy ra vì Chúa Hằng Hữu nổi giận cùng người Giê-ru-sa-lem ra và Giu-đa, cho đến khi Chúa đuổi họ khỏi nơi Ngài ngự và đem họ đi lưu đày. Sê-đê-kia nổi loạn chống vua Ba-by-lôn. Sau đó, Sê-đê-kia nổi lên chống lại vua Ba-by-lôn.
Through Yahweh's anger, all these events happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until he drove them out of his presence. Then Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
