II Các Vua 17
1 Vào năm thứ mười hai đời A-cha, vua Giu-đa, Ô-sê, con Ê-la lên làm vua Ít-ra-ên, cai trị chín năm tại Sa-ma-ri.
In the twelft yeere of Ahaz King of Iudah began Hoshea the sonne of Elah to reigne in Samaria ouer Israel, and reigned nine yeeres.
2 Ô-sê làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu nhưng không đến nỗi như các vua Ít-ra-ên trước.
And he did euill in the sight of the Lord, but not as the Kinges of Israel, that were before him.
3 Sanh-ma-na-sa, vua A-sy-ri đem quân đánh Ít-ra-ên. Ô-sê thua, phải thần phục và nạp cống lễ cho A-sy-ri.
And Shalmaneser king of Asshur came vp against him, and Hoshea became his seruant, and gaue him presents.
4 Nhưng Ô-sê mưu phản, sai sứ giả đi Ai Cập nhờ vua Sô giúp đỡ. Hành động này không qua khỏi mắt vua A-sy-ri. Ngoài ra, Ô-sê bắt đầu ngưng nạp cống thuế hằng năm cho A-sy-ri, nên vua A-sy-ri bắt Ô-sê xiềng lại, đem bỏ tù.
And the King of Asshur founde treason in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So King of Egypt, and brought no present vnto the King of Asshur, as he had done yeerely: therfore the king of Asshur shut him vp, and put him in prison.
5 Quân A-sy-ri đánh phá khắp nơi và vây Sa-ma-ri suốt ba năm.
Then the king of Asshur came vp throughout all the lande, and went against Samaria, and besieged it three yeere.
6 Vào năm thứ chín đời Ô-sê, Sa-ma-ri thất thủ. Người Ít-ra-ên bị bắt đày qua A-sy-ri, bị tập trung tại Cha-la, và trên bờ Sông Cha-bo ở Gô-xan, và các thành trong nước Mê-đi.
In the ninth yeere of Hoshea, the King of Asshur tooke Samaria, and caryed Israel away vnto Asshur, and put them in Halah, and in Habor by the riuer of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
7 Những việc này xảy ra vì người Ít-ra-ên phạm tội với Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của họ, Đấng đã đem họ ra khỏi Ai Cập, đã cứu họ khỏi quyền lực của Pha-ra-ôn. Họ đi thờ các thần khác,
For when the children of Israel sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them out of the land of Egypt, from vnder ye hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and feared other gods,
8 theo thói tục xấu xa của các thổ dân bị Chúa Hằng Hữu đuổi đi để lấy đất cho họ ở, và theo quy lệ sai lầm của các vua Ít-ra-ên mới lập ra.
And walked according to the facions of the Heathen, whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel, and after the maners of the Kings of Israel, which they vsed,
9 Dân chúng lén lút làm những việc bất chính và việc không đẹp lòng Chúa Hằng Hữu Đức Chúa Trời của họ; xây miếu thờ tà thần trên các chỗ cao khắp nơi, ngay cả trên vọng canh, thành lũy;
And the children of Israel had done secretly things that were not vpright before the Lord their God, and throughout all their cities had built hie places, both from the tower of the watch, to the defensed citie,
10 dựng trụ thờ, tượng nữ thần A-sê-ra trên đồi núi, dưới cây xanh;
And had made them images and groues vpon euery hie hill, and vnder euery greene tree,
11 đốt hương trong các miếu trên đồi giống như các dân đã bị Chúa Hằng Hữu đuổi đi. Các hành động gian ác này đã làm Chúa nổi giận.
And there burnt incense in all the hie places, as did the heathen, whom the Lord had taken away before them, and wrought wicked things to anger the Lord,
12 Họ thờ thần tượng, mặc dù Chúa Hằng Hữu đã ngăn cấm.
And serued idoles: whereof the Lord had sayd vnto them, Ye shall do no such thing,
13 Chúa Hằng Hữu sai các tiên tri cảnh cáo Ít-ra-ên và Giu-đa để họ bỏ đường tội ác, tuân giữ điều răn, luật lệ Ngài đã dùng các tiên tri truyền cho tổ tiên họ thuở xưa.
Notwithstanding the Lord testified to Israel, and to Iudah by all the Prophets, and by all the Seers, saying, Turne from your euill wayes, and keepe my commandements and my statutes, according to all the Lawe, which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my seruants the Prophets.
14 Nhưng họ nào có nghe, lại cứ ngoan cố chẳng kém gì tổ tiên, không tin Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời mình.
Neuerthelesse they would not obey, but hardened their neckes, like to the neckes of their fathers, that did not beleeue in the Lord their God.
15 Họ coi thường luật lệ và giao ước Ngài đã kết với tổ tiên họ, và những lời cảnh cáo của Ngài. Họ theo các thần nhảm nhí, và chính họ trở nên người xằng bậy. Mặc dù Chúa cấm đoán, họ vẫn bắt chước những dân tộc sống chung quanh.
And they refused his statutes and his couenant, that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies (wherewith he witnessed vnto them) and they followed vanitie, and became vaine, and followed the heathen that were round about them: concerning whome the Lord had charged them, that they should not do like them.
16 Họ khước từ tất cả các điều răn của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời mình, đúc hai tượng bò con, tượng A-sê-ra, thờ lạy Ba-anh, và các tinh tú trên trời.
Finally they left all the commandements of the Lord their God, and made them molten images, euen two calues, and made a groue, and worshipped all the hoste of heauen, and serued Baal.
17 Họ đem con trai, con gái thiêu sống để tế thần. Họ tin bói toán, phù thủy, và chuyên làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, khiến Ngài giận vô cùng.
And they made their sonnes and their daughters passe thorowe the fire, and vsed witchcraft and inchantments, yea, solde them selues to doe euill in the sight of the Lord, to anger him.
18 Ngài đuổi họ đi nơi khác, chỉ để cho đại tộc Giu-đa ở lại.
Therefore the Lord was exceeding wroth with Israel, and put them out of his sight, and none was left but the tribe of Iudah onely.
19 Giu-đa cũng chẳng tuân giữ các điều răn của Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời mình, nhưng theo gương Ít-ra-ên.
Yet Iudah kept not the commandements of the Lord their God, but walked according to the facion of Israel, which they vsed.
20 Vì thế, Chúa Hằng Hữu từ bỏ tất cả con cháu Gia-cốp, trừng phạt họ, và để cho kẻ thù bóc lột họ. Cuối cùng Ngài đuổi họ đi nơi khác.
Therefore the Lord cast off all the seede of Israel, and afflicted them, and deliuered them into the handes of spoylers, vntill he had cast them out of his sight.
21 Khi Ít-ra-ên tách ra khỏi chủ quyền nhà Đa-vít, họ tôn Giê-rô-bô-am, con Nê-bát, làm vua. Giê-rô-bô-am khiến Ít-ra-ên bỏ Chúa Hằng Hữu, phạm tội nặng nề.
For he cut off Israel from the house of Dauid, and they made Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat King: and Ieroboam drewe Israel away from following the Lord, and made them sinne a great sinne.
22 Người Ít-ra-ên phạm tất cả tội Giê-rô-bô-am phạm. Họ không từ một tội nào,
For the children of Israel walked in all the sinnes of Ieroboam, which he did, and departed not therefrom,
23 cho đến khi Chúa Hằng Hữu đuổi họ đi, như Ngài đã bảo đầy tớ Ngài là các tiên tri cảnh cáo họ trước. Như vậy, người Ít-ra-ên bị đày qua A-sy-ri, và họ ở đó cho đến ngày nay.
Vntill the Lord put Israel away out of his sight, as he had said by all his seruants the Prophets, and caryed Israel away out of their land to Asshur vnto this day.
24 Vua A-sy-ri đem dân ở Ba-by-lôn, Cư-tha, A-va, Ha-mát, và Sê-phạt-va-im đến định cư ở trong các thành của Sa-ma-ri và các thành khác của Ít-ra-ên.
And the King of Asshur brought folke from Babel, and from Cuthah, and from Aua, and from Hamath, and from Sepharuaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria in steade of the children of Israel: so they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
25 Khi mới đến đất Ít-ra-ên, những người này không kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, nên Ngài cho sư tử đến giết một số.
And at the beginning of their dwelling there, they feared not the Lord: therefore the Lord sent lions among them, which slewe them.
26 Khi vua A-sy-ri nhận được phúc trình: “Những người được đem qua Sa-ma-ri không biết luật của Thần địa phương, nên Thần ấy sai sư tử vồ họ chết.”
Wherefore they spake to the King of Asshur, saying, The nations which thou hast remoued, and placed in the cities of Samaria, knowe not the maner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them, and behold, they slay them, because they knowe not the maner of the God of the land.
27 Vua ra lệnh đem một thầy tế lễ Ít-ra-ên đã bị đày trở về Sa-ma-ri, để dạy những người định cư luật lệ của Thần địa phương.
Then the King of Asshur commanded, saying, Carie thither one of the Priestes whome ye brought thence, and let him goe and dwell there, and teache them the maner of the God of the countrey.
28 Vậy, một thầy tế lễ từ Sa-ma-ri được đưa về Bê-tên, dạy những người mới đến cách phụng thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
So one of the Priestes, which they had caryed from Samaria, came and dwelt in Beth-el, and taught them how they shoulde feare the Lord.
29 Tuy nhiên, những người này vẫn thờ thần của nước họ. Họ để tượng thần trong miếu trên đồi gần thành mình ở. Các miếu này đã được người Ít-ra-ên xây cất trước kia.
Howbeit euery nation made their gods, and put them in the houses of the hie places, which the Samaritanes had made, euery nation in their cities, wherein they dwelt.
30 Người Ba-by-lôn thờ thần Su-cốt Bê-nốt; người Cúc thờ Nẹt-ganh; người Ha-mát thờ A-si-ma;
For the men of Babel made Succoth-Benoth: and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
31 người A-va thờ Nếp-hát và Tạt-tác; người Sê-phạt-va-im thiêu con tế thần A-tra-mê-léc và A-na-mê-léc.
And the Auims made Nibhaz, and Tartak: and the Sepharuims burnt their children in the fire to Adrammelech, and Anammelech the gods of Sepharuaim.
32 Tuy kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, họ vẫn chỉ định người của mình làm chức tế lễ tại các miếu trên đồi để dâng lễ vật cho thần mình.
Thus they feared the Lord, and appoynted out Priestes out of them selues for the hie places, who prepared for them sacrifices in the houses of the hie places.
33 Như thế, họ vừa kính sợ Chúa, vừa thờ thần mình theo nghi thức cúng thờ của dân tộc mình.
They feared the Lord, but serued their gods after the maner of the nations whome they caryed thence.
34 Cho đến nay họ vẫn theo nghi thức cũ chứ không thật sự thờ phụng Chúa Hằng Hữu vì họ không theo đúng chỉ thị, luật lệ, điều răn của Chúa truyền cho con cháu Gia-cốp, người được Ngài đổi tên là Ít-ra-ên.
Vnto this day they doe after the olde maner: they neyther feare God, neyther doe after their ordinances, nor after their customes, nor after the Lawe, nor after the commandement, which the Lord commanded the children of Iaakob, whom he named Israel,
35 Chúa Hằng Hữu đã kết ước với Ít-ra-ên, theo đó họ không được thờ phụng, phục vụ, cúng tế các thần khác,
And with whom the Lord had made a couenant, and charged them, saying, Feare none other gods, nor bowe your selues to them, nor serue them, nor sacrifice to them:
36 Nhưng chỉ phụng sự thờ lạy và dâng lễ vật lên Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đấng đã đem họ ra khỏi Ai Cập với quyền năng và phép lạ.
But feare the Lord which brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power, and a stretched out arme: him feare ye, and worshippe him, and sacrifice to him.
37 Họ phải tuân giữ điều răn, luật lệ, và quy tắc của chính Ngài truyền cho. Họ không được thờ thần khác.
Also keepe ye diligently the statutes and the ordinances, and the Lawe, and the commandement, which he wrote for you, that ye do them continually, and feare not other gods.
38 Chúa Hằng Hữu đã cảnh cáo họ không được quên lãng giao ước này, không được thờ thần nào khác.
And forget not the couenant that I haue made with you, neither feare ye other gods,
39 Họ chỉ thờ một mình Chúa Hằng Hữu là Chân Thần mình. Chỉ như thế, họ mới được Chúa cứu khỏi quyền lực kẻ thù.
But feare the Lord your God, and he will deliuer you out of the handes of all your enemies.
40 Nhưng những người ấy không nghe, cứ thờ lạy theo lối cũ.
Howbeit they obeyed not, but did after their olde custome.
41 Họ kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, đồng thời cũng thờ thần tượng mình. Và cứ thế, đến nay con cháu họ vẫn theo đường lối ấy.
So these nations feared the Lord, and serued their images also: so did their children, and their childrens children: as did their fathers, so do they vnto this day.
