II Sử Ký 19

1 Giô-sa-phát, vua Giu-đa bình an trở về cung điện tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.

And Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah returned safe to his house in Ierusalem.

2 Tiên tri Giê-hu, con Ha-na-ni, đi ra nghênh đón vua. Ông hỏi vua: “Tại sao vua đi giúp người gian ác và thương người ghét Chúa Hằng Hữu? Vì những việc vua đã làm, Chúa Hằng Hữu giáng cơn thịnh nộ trên vua.

And Iehu the sonne of Hanani the Seer went out to meete him, and said to King Iehoshaphat, Wouldest thou helpe the wicked, and loue them that hate the Lord? therefore for this thing the wrath of the Lord is vpon thee.

3 Nhưng vua còn có lòng lành vì đã quét sạch các thần tượng A-sê-ra khỏi đất nước và chuyên tâm tìm kiếm Đức Chúa Trời.”

Neuertheles good things are found in thee, because thou hast taken away ye groues out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seeke God.

4 Giô-sa-phát ở tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, rồi đi thị sát dân tình khắp cả nước từ Bê-e-sê-ba cho đến Ép-ra-im, dìu dắt dân chúng quay về với Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời của tổ phụ họ.

So Iehoshaphat dwelt at Ierusalem, and returned and went through the people from Beer-sheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them againe vnto the Lord God of their fathers.

5 Vua bổ nhiệm các phán quan tại các thành phố chiến lược khắp đất nước Giu-đa,

And hee set iudges in the lande throughout all the strong cities of Iudah, citie by citie,

6 và bảo họ: “Hãy suy nghĩ cẩn thận trước khi phán xét. Hãy nhớ rằng ngươi xét xử không phải để làm thỏa lòng người mà là để làm vui lòng Chúa Hằng Hữu. Ngài sẽ ở với các ngươi trong khi xét xử.

And said to the iudges, Take heede what ye doe: for yee execute not the iudgements of man, but of the Lord, and he will be with you in the cause and iudgement.

7 Vậy, các ngươi hãy kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, và phân xử liêm minh, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của chúng ta không dung túng bất công, thiên vị, hay nhận hối lộ!”

Wherefore nowe let the feare of the Lord be vpon you: take heede, and do it: for there is no iniquitie with the Lord our God, neither respect of persons, nor receiuing of reward.

8 Giô-sa-phát cũng chọn một số người Lê-vi, thầy tế lễ, và tộc trưởng trong dân chúng Ít-ra-ên vì Chúa Hằng Hữu mà đảm nhận việc xử đoán và phán quyết các vụ án.

Moreouer in Ierusalem did Iehoshaphat set of the Leuites, and of the Priests and of the chiefe of the families of Israel, for the iudgement and cause of the Lord: and they returned to Ierusale.

9 Vua căn dặn các phán quan này: “Các ngươi hãy kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu, phục vụ Ngài cách trung kiên với lòng trọn thành.

And he charged them, saying, Thus shall yee doe in the feare of the Lord faithfully and with a perfite heart.

10 Nếu anh em các ngươi từ các thành đến thưa kiện, dù là vụ án mạng, điều răn, mệnh lệnh, hay điều lệ của Đức Chúa Trời, thì các ngươi phải cảnh cáo họ đừng phạm tội với Chúa Hằng Hữu, nếu không Chúa sẽ nổi cơn thịnh nộ đoán phạt các ngươi và anh em các ngươi. Làm như thế các ngươi sẽ khỏi mắc tội.

And in euery cause that shall come to you of your brethren that dwel in their cities, betweene blood and blood, betweene law and precept, statutes and iudgements, ye shall iudge them, and admonish them that they trespasse not against the Lord, that wrath come not vpon you and vpon your brethren. This shall ye do and trespasse not.

11 Thầy thượng tế A-ma-ria sẽ làm phán quan về các việc thuộc về Chúa Hằng Hữu. Xê-ba-đia, con Ích-ma-ên, lãnh đạo đại tộc Giu-đa, làm phán quan về các việc thuộc về dân sự. Một số người Lê-vi sẽ được bổ nhiệm phụ giúp các ngươi. Các ngươi hãy can đảm trong phận sự của mình, Chúa Hằng Hữu luôn ở cùng người thiện hảo công minh.”

And behold, Amariah the Priest shalbe the chiefe ouer you in all matters of the Lord, and Zebadiah ye sonne of Ishmael, a ruler of the house of Iudah, shalbe for al the Kings affaires, and the Leuites shalbe officers before you. Bee of courage, and doe it, and the Lord shalbe with the good.
