I Sa-mu-ên 23

1 Đa-vít được tin người Phi-li-tin kéo đến Kê-i-la và cướp phá các sân đạp lúa.

And they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and are robbing the threshing-floors.

2 Đa-vít cầu hỏi Chúa Hằng Hữu: “Con có nên đi đánh những người Phi-li-tin này không?” Chúa Hằng Hữu phán với ông: “Nên. Hãy đi và cứu Kê-i-la.”

Therefore David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And Jehovah said to David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

3 Tuy nhiên, các thuộc hạ của Đa-vít bàn: “Ở ngay đây, trong đất Giu-đa, chúng ta còn sợ, huống hồ gì đi Kê-i-la đánh quân Phi-li-tin!”

And David's men said to him, Behold, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?

4 Đa-vít cầu hỏi Chúa Hằng Hữu lần nữa, Chúa Hằng Hữu đáp: “Hãy đi xuống Kê-i-la đi, Ta sẽ cho con thắng người Phi-li-tin.”

Then David inquired of Jehovah yet again. And Jehovah answered him, and said, Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will deliver the Philistines into thy hand.

5 Vậy, Đa-vít cùng thuộc hạ kéo xuống Kê-i-la, đánh tan quân Phi-li-tin, giết vô số địch, bắt hết súc vật của họ và cứu người Kê-i-la.

And David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and killed them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

6 Khi trốn đến với Đa-vít và theo ông đi Kê-i-la, A-bia-tha, con A-hi-mê-léc có mang theo ê-phót bên mình.

And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.

7 Khi Sau-lơ được tin Đa-vít đến Kê-i-la, vua nói: “Đức Chúa Trời giao mạng hắn cho ta đây, vì hắn tự giam mình trong một thành nhỏ có nhiều cổng và chấn song.”

And it was told Saul that David came to Keilah. And Saul said, God has delivered him into my hand, for he is shut in by entering into a town that has gates and bars.

8 Sau-lơ huy động toàn lực kéo đến Kê-i-la để vây Đa-vít và thuộc hạ.

And Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

9 Nhưng Đa-vít biết được Sau-lơ tính kế hại mình, nên bảo A-bia-tha đem ê-phót đến.

And David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him, and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring here the ephod.

10 Đa-vít cầu hỏi: “Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, con có nghe Sau-lơ định đến Kê-i-la phá thành bắt con.

Then said David, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, thy servant has surely heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake.

11 Người Kê-i-la sẽ nạp con cho Sau-lơ không? Sau-lơ sẽ đến như con đã nghe không? Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, xin cho con biết.” Chúa Hằng Hữu đáp: “Sau-lơ sẽ đến.”

Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? Will Saul come down as thy servant has heard? O Jehovah, the God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And Jehovah said, He will come down.

12 Đa-vít hỏi nữa: “Người Kê-i-la sẽ nạp con cho Sau-lơ không?” Chúa Hằng Hữu đáp: “Có, họ sẽ nạp con.”

Then David said, Will the men of Keilah deliver up me and my men into the hand of Saul? And Jehovah said, They will deliver thee up.

13 Vậy, Đa-vít cùng thuộc hạ chừng 600 người, bỏ Kê-i-la, đi rải ra khắp nơi. Và khi nghe tin Đa-vít bỏ Kê-i-la, Sau-lơ không đi đến đó nữa.

Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went wherever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah, and he ceased to go forth.

14 Sau đó, Đa-vít hoạt động trong vùng đồi núi thuộc hoang mạc Xíp. Sau-lơ vẫn tiếp tục săn đuổi Đa-vít hằng ngày, nhưng Đức Chúa Trời không để vua gặp Đa-vít.

And David abode in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill-country in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

15 Lúc đang ở Hô-rết thuộc hoang mạc Xíp, Đa-vít được tin Sau-lơ sắp đến để giết mình.

And David saw that Saul came out to seek his life, and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in the forest.

16 Nhưng một hôm, Giô-na-than đến kiếm Đa-vít và khích lệ ông vững lòng tin cậy Đức Chúa Trời.

And Jonathan, Saul's son, arose, and went to David into the forest, and strengthened his hand in God.

17 Giô-na-than nói: “Anh đừng lo, cha tôi sẽ không bắt được anh đâu. Anh sẽ làm vua Ít-ra-ên và tôi sẽ làm tể tướng; cha tôi biết rõ như thế.”

And he said to him, Fear not, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee. And thou shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to thee. And that, Saul my father also knows.

18 Hai người lại lập ước trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, rồi Giô-na-than về nhà, còn Đa-vít ở lại Hô-rết.

And those two made a covenant before Jehovah. And David abode in the forest, and Jonathan went to his house.

19 Người Xíp đến Ghi-bê-a báo với Sau-lơ: “Đa-vít đang ẩn trong đất chúng tôi tại Hô-rết, trên đồi Ha-chi-la ở phía nam hoang mạc.

Then the Ziphites came up to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the forest, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of the desert?

20 Nếu vua xuống đó, chúng tôi sẽ bắt hắn nạp cho vua!”

Now therefore, O king, come down, according to all the desire of thy soul to come down, and our part shall be to deliver him up into the king's hand.

21 Sau-lơ nói: “Xin Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước lành cho các ngươi vì đã có lòng thương ta.

And Saul said, Blessed be ye of Jehovah, for ye have had compassion on me.

22 Bây giờ các ngươi hãy trở về dò lại cho kỹ xem nó đang ở nơi nào, và ai đã trông thấy hắn, vì nghe nói hắn rất mưu mô quỷ quyệt.

Go, I pray you, make yet more sure, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he deals very shrewdly.

23 Các ngươi nhớ tìm cho ra tất cả nơi hắn trú ẩn, rồi trở lại trình báo rõ ràng hơn. Lúc ấy ta sẽ đi với các ngươi. Nếu hắn ở trong vùng ấy, ta sẽ tìm được, dù phải truy tìm khắp mọi nơi trong lãnh thổ Giu-đa.”

See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking-places where he hides himself, and come ye again to me of a certainty. And I will go with you, and it shall come to pass, if he is in the land, that I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.

24 Họ vâng lời, trở về Xíp. Trong khi Đa-vít và thuộc hạ của ông ở trong hoang mạc Ma-ôn, thuộc Thung Lũng A-ra-ba, phía nam Giê-si-môn.

And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul, but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah on the south of the desert.

25 Đa-vít hay tin Sau-lơ và thuộc hạ người lùng bắt mình, ông liền trốn đến vầng đá trong hoang mạc Ma-ôn. Nhưng Sau-lơ hay được nên cũng đi đến đó.

And Saul and his men went to seek him. And they told David. Therefore he came down to the rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

26 Sau-lơ đi phía bên này một triền núi, trong lúc Đa-vít cùng các thuộc hạ ở phía bên kia. Mặc dù cố gắng di chuyển thật nhanh, Đa-vít vẫn không thoát vòng vây của quân Sau-lơ. Ngay lúc họ tiến lên để bắt Đa-vít,

And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain. And David made haste to get away for fear of Saul. For Saul and his men encompassed David and his men round about to take them.

27 có một người đem tin chạy đến nói với Sau-lơ: “Xin vua về ngay. Quân Phi-li-tin đang kéo đến đánh ta.”

But there came a messenger to Saul, saying, Hasten thee, and come, for the Philistines have made a raid upon the land.

28 Sau-lơ thôi đuổi theo Đa-vít, quay về đánh Phi-li-tin. Từ lúc ấy, nơi này được gọi là Tảng Đá Phân Rẽ.

So Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines. Therefore they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth.

29 Rồi Đa-vít đến ẩn trú trong vùng Ên-ghê-đi.

And David went up from there, and dwelt in the strongholds of En-gedi.
